I have been here twice for lunch, and I think that the lunch set meal is a bargain for $16-22, depending on the protein ordered. I have had it with fried chicken thighs and today with the wings. Both times, chicken portions were a good size, and the chicken was very flavorful and juicy. The set meal comes on a large wooden tray with rice, a cabbage salad (refreshing), edamame, miso soup, and some pickles. I couldn't possibly eat it all, so there are leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Made reservations in advance as it was quite busy and we wanted to try this place. They had our table reserved in advance so we were seated immediately which was great. They started off by giving us small wet hand towels to clean our hands prior which was a nice add. The restaurant is overall pretty small with a variety of bar seating, high tops, and tables. There were tv screens in every corner of the restaurant for different sports games which gave it that comfy sports bar but cozy restaurant vibe. We ordered the calpico drink and sherbet lemon soda. The sherbet lemon soda had a scoop of yuzu sherbet inside which was very refreshing especially when paired with the salty foods we ordered. For appetizers, we got the cucumber salad and shaka shaka fries with chicken seasoning per the waiter's recommendation. The cucumber salad was pickled cucumber with sesame oil which was cool and also refreshing and perfectly went with the chicken to cut the greasy taste. The shaka shaka fries came with the seasoning on the side and a separate bag to shake with fries. The seasoning tasted subtle and the fries were pretty standard. For entrees, we got the bone in chicken which is what they are known for and found out it is only available for dinner. And they suggested the garlic rice to pair with it so we got that too. And we also wanted to try the fried chicken combo which came with 2 breast, 2 thigh, and 2 wings. The fried chicken came out first was very fresh and hot when it arrived. All the pieces were tender and the breading was light and crispy. It came with standard condiments including a soy sauce, a kewpie like mayo, salt pepper combo, and chili powder. We also added a side of yuzu pepper which was an additional $1 for our preference. The seasonings all paired well with the fried chicken. The bone in chicken takes 20 minutes so that came out fresh on a sizzling hot plate and the garlic rice shortly after. They pour the chicken oils on the garlic rice and the server cuts the chicken to help debone it for you. The chicken was super tender and marinated for 24 hours that went well with the garlic rice. Although it does taste a little greasy, the overall flavor of both complemented each other well. We ended by trying the matcha tiramisu which had a very strong matcha flavor with the matcha powder on top and matcha cream inside and small amount of matcha cake on the bottom. It came with some fruit that helped off set the bitterness of the matcha. Overall pretty good experience and would come back. I am very happy with their great addition to the HB food scene. We were able to try a few of the dishes and I liked most of them. The minced chicken rice bowl was well balanced and something I could eat every day. The gizzard came with a large portion of beautifully fried pieces that had an amazing texture. We were lucky to have made the last Resy reservation to come on grand opening day. The other location is in Torrance with the original in Japan. You start off with a warm towel to wipe your hands. We order: -Cucumber - tasty -Tofu with kimchi - kids loved this -Fried spaghetti - looked like incense sticks, almost flavorless -JFC thighs - juicy -JFC wings - soft and crispy -JFC cartilage - favorite -Baked bone in chicken with the garlic rice - Table side demo where they cut it for you in small pieces, then take the chicken fat and pour it into the garlic rice, mix it all up. We came here on grand opening night. They were busy in the sense that the place was completely full with a short wait time. We had a reservation so were seated promptly. Service is good, staff are of course still learning the ropes but were very courteous and honest. We ordered the chicken cartilage, 3 combo fried chicken, bone-in chicken & garlic rice (to pair with the bone-in chicken). The fried chicken is juicy but lacks flavor IMO. Definitely need the sauces. Also had a few "cartilage" pieces that were just straight up fried batter with nothing else. I did like the cartilage a lot though! The bone-in chicken is cut in front of you by a staff with kitchen scissors. It honestly is a bit too salty and we mentioned this as feedback for the server. They also use some of the sauce from the bone-in chicken and add it to the garlic rice. It does add good flavor to the rice (which is pretty good by itself already). Restaurant is small but the sound from other tables is not overbearing. It's a casual vibe and most people are just there to let loose, enjoy some fried chicken, and drink a bit. GABURI CHICKEN just expanded from Torrance to Huntington Beach and officially opened on 8/21/2026, so of course we had to check it out the very next day! It's a small spot with a cozy little izakaya vibe. We went Saturday afternoon and it was already pretty busy. The staff were very friendly, and when our ramen was taking a little longer than expected, someone came over to let us know about the wait. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes, which wasn't too bad, and I appreciated that they kept us updated. We tried the Chicken Ramen ($15) and Tantanmen ($15). Both bowls were on the smaller side, and the broth definitely runs a little salty. My two friends thought it was way too salty, but I was actually okay with it since I tend to like stronger flavors. The Chicken Tempura Set ($22) was a much more generous portion. We also got the 6-piece fried chicken ($16) to go. It was decent, although I thought the coating was a little too thick. For Huntington Beach, the ramen prices are actually pretty reasonable, especially for a newly opened spot. Food-wise, nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out enough to make me want to rush back anytime soon. I am so glad Gaburi opened up this location right by my house. I love Korean fried chicken but Japanese fried chicken?! I came here with two other people on a Sunday for lunch. It was pretty busy but we got seated right away. There was a wait after us. I love that they have awesome drinks and a wide variety of different types of chicken dishes. They have meals, bowls, ramen, and you can also order items a la carte. I got their fried chicken meal and you can choose thighs, breast, or a mix. I got just their thighs and their meal comes with rice, miso soup, salad, and edamame. It was 4 pieces of thigh that were super tender, moist, and flavorful. They also fried it perfectly. It was really good. One of the person I came with got their Chicken cutlet in egg sauce which I actually prefer. It was a chicken break in a delicious egg sauce that was oh so good. I highly recommend it. The service was awesome but it did some times for them to fry the chicken. I did think the portion was small but the price is so affordable. I think for sure 4 pieces of fried chicken is not enough food for me so I will be adding to my meal next time. The inside of this place is causal and great for smaller groups. We came during happy hour (3-6 pm) and got $2 off drinks and appetizers, which was a nice bonus. We tried their signature chicken with cheese. It tasted good, but honestly wasn't worth the wait. Came here for an early dinner during happy hour, which is from 3-6 PM every day. Appetizers and drinks are $2 off during happy hour, so it's a nice time to stop by. We started with the cucumber, which was simple but seasoned really well with vinegar and salt. We also got the potato salad with a soft-boiled egg. This was my first time having potato salad served with a whole seasoned egg and cheese, but it actually worked pretty well. The garnishes on top added some nice color, and the onion and cucumber gave it a good crunch. They also have a condiment rack at the table with mayo, shichimi pepper, black pepper, soy sauce and salt, plus a garlic and onion powder blend. For the main food, we ordered the bone-in chicken and garlic rice. They give you the option of pouring the chicken oil from the bone-in chicken over the garlic rice, and they can also cut the chicken off the bone for you. The chicken was really juicy and tender. It was a little salty, almost like a well-seasoned rotisserie chicken, so the rice helped balance it out. The cabbage on the side was also nice to have to offset some of the saltiness and richness. The garlic rice was pretty unique with the egg mixed in. It is definitely on the oily side, but the garlic flavor comes through nicely without being overwhelming. It's also topped with fried garlic, which personally wasn't my favorite part. I think the bone-in chicken and garlic rice are a must-get combo here, as long as your stomach can handle something pretty rich and greasy. It's definitely not a light meal. One random thing worth mentioning is the bathroom. They have one of the nicer bidets I've seen at a restaurant, plus a disco ball and what sounds like their own restaurant theme song playing in there. When we arrived, the restaurant was full with a growing line of people waiting. Gaburi Chicken is located on Warner between Gothard and Beach Blvd. The restaurant space is small with about half a dozen seats at the bar. It's cute and clean and has a good vibe. We ordered two chicken thighs, the bone-in chicken & garlic rice. The chicken thighs came first. And when you first look at them, they look small, but keep in mind that the thighs have been de-boned and fried. Your server will also you bring an assortment of four condiments: Kewpie Mayo, soy sauce, chili flake/seasoning & a mixture of salt, pepper & garlic salt which was my favorite. My husband used all of the condiments to season his portion & I stuck to the salt, pepper & garlic salt mixture. Whichever way you season your chicken, you will not go wrong! The chicken is MOIST, unctiously tender & so DELICIOUS!! Then came our bone-in chicken which is a chicken quarter seasoned & broasted in its juices. The server recommended pouring the drippings on our garlic rice order. So why not?? The rice came sizzling on an egg scrambled & cooked in a cast iron serving plate. The rice was seasoned perfectly and you could taste the little slices of garlic in it. It is not fried rice. And Pouring the chicken drippings on it was "FIRE!" We started with four appetizers: Tako Wasa: Boiled octopus with wasabi. I usually avoid wasabi because of the spice, but surprisingly, I didn't notice much heat here. Recommend! Cucumber Salad: I'm not used to seeing cucumber salad presented neatly in a row like this, but I liked it! The seasoning was subtle with a blend of salt, vinegar, sesame, and shichimi togarashi. Recommend! Potato Salad with Soft-Boiled Egg: This one blew me away. I've never been particularly impressed by potato salad at other restaurants, but this one had a flavor that really stood out--maybe it was the Parmesan cheese. Highly recommend! Crispy Gyoza with Yuzu Green Onion Sauce: Definitely not your ordinary gyoza. These were generously stuffed with chicken, garlic, leek, cabbage, ginger, green onion, and yuzu. At first, I thought it was strange that there wasn't a dipping sauce, but the gyoza was already well-seasoned. I ended up dipping it in the Mentai Mayonnaise anyway and fell in love with the combination. Super highly recommend! For our entrées, we ordered the Bone-In Chicken and Garlic Rice. Our server poured the remaining chicken sauce onto the garlic rice--love that nothing flavorful went to waste! She then cut the sizzling chicken into bite-sized pieces for us, which I really appreciated. The less work we have to do digging into a sizzling-hot entrée, the better. The chicken was incredibly tender and paired really well with the Mentai sauce. Definitely recommend! The Garlic Rice had a nice portion with subtle flavoring. Mix it well and enjoy! I think you're talking about Habuya, the Okinawan/Japanese spot in Tustin from your backlog. Based on this voice drop, I'd put it at 3/5 for now. You're definitely willing to return and you found one dish you really loved, but their signature fried chicken didn't land for you. This could easily become a 4 on a stronger second visit. Habuya -- Tustin Rating note: 3/5 I came during the soft opening, so they were still figuring some things out and weren't always able to explain the menu or guide me on how everything was supposed to be eaten. They're known for their Japanese fried chicken, so obviously I had to try it. The chicken itself was moist and you can definitely taste the quality, but I wasn't a huge fan of the batter. I was expecting something a little lighter and airier. They give you different sauces to try, including this cool bottle with multiple spouts, but I might have just done it wrong because I couldn't quite find the combination I liked. One of the sauces tasted way too mayo-heavy for me. Maybe I needed more of something else, so I'm willing to give the chicken another shot when they're more settled in. I also tried one of their fruit chuhai drinks. They bring out the whole fruit for you to squeeze into it, which looks really cool, but taste-wise it basically reminded me of soda water with fresh fruit squeezed into it. If you've never had chicken nanban before, the chicken gets dipped in a sweet/tangy sauce before topped with an egg tartar sauce, so it's not going to be crispy crispy. I didn't mind, but my sister said next time she'd get the tartar sauce separate. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The whole staff said hello and welcome, followed by a menu. They made some recommendations but settled on the frued chicken and rice plate. The food came out in a reasonable time. The chicken was hot and had to wait for it to cool down. It was hot and juicy. Long story short, I will be coming back and highly recommend that you give it a try yourself. Daughter had seen on Instagram that Gaburi Chicken originally in Torrance was opening in Huntington Beach and she was excited to try the fried chicken. We happened to be at an appointment nearby on the last day of their soft opening yesterday and it wouldn't open until 11:30 AM. They were open for regular hours during soft opening. We went to get a drink and wait for the restaurant to open. Husband was waiting for lunch at home so we couldn't dine in and had to take out. Payton gave us the takeout menu and took our order of chicken and vegetable tempura bento lunch box, mix fried chicken bento lunch box, and fried chicken breast curry bowl. It would be about 15 minutes and we were provided with iced water and allowed to sit at one of the tables while we waited for our order. A few tables were occupied with one with mothers and their children. The servers were very friendly and hospitable. One server gave us his 3 favorite foods on the dinner menu of the grilled mackerel, gabukichi-kun salad, and mascarpone cheese and crackers which he thinks is more of a dessert than an appetizer. Husband deemed the food good. We all enjoyed the Japanese pickles that came with the bento boxes. Beware of the shishito pepper tempura. It is quite spicy. The curry is excellent garnished with cilantro and tasting like what a good Japanese curry should be. Everybody had to work today, but they sent me to eat and get the free tote bag. He quickly took my order of Tofu with Kimchi, Chicken Ramen, and Chicken Cutlet Curry Bowl. The cold appetizer came out right away very shortly after the water. I enjoyed it for my daughter who had wanted to order it to go yesterday, but it wasn't available. The chicken cutlet curry bowl came out next and lastly the chicken ramen. Both came with edamame which I like having with my chicken. Food and service were excellent. The servers came around quite often to make sure everything was okay and if more water was needed. I will be adding to the other reviews that state that their chicken is overcooked. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet with Egg Sauce and my chicken cutlet was burned and it tasted burnt too. I just ate one strip and couldn't finish it. I addressed it to the waitress and her solving the situation was taking a piece of the cutlet and telling the cook. She came and told me "he said he's sorry." We also ordered fried chicken- it was also overcooked (thankfully not burnt, but overly fried) and way too salty. I do not recommend the takowasa. It's not the raw octopus and it had too much sesame oil which was too overpowering and salty. It was super gross. Due to the food and service, I definitely will not be back. It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a new restaurant in Huntington Beach. The truth is we normally leave Huntington Beach for good food, in particular good food that's reasonably priced. Gaburi Chicken is by far the best new addition to the Huntington Beach restaurant scene in a very long time. They've only been opened a few weeks and we've already been back three times the vibe and energy in the restaurant is great. The service is friendly and thoughtful, and the food has been fantastic. Their specialty is the bone in baked chicken, which is fantastic and prepared at your table straight out of the oven. Their other specialty is their fried chicken which is light, juicy and tender. You have a choice of several sauces to go with either chicken, I would recommend trying at least a couple. Since our first visit, we've gone back to try some other things on their menu. We've tried both versions of their Ramen, their chicken nachos, and the cucumber appetizer. We loved everything except for the nachos, which was served overcooked and a bit burnt. Gaburi Chicken has some of the best chicken here in Orange County! I love the garlic rice with the egg and the bone in chicken. The chicken was very juicy, moist, and flavorful. The rice and egg were delicious, fluffy, and seasoned perfectly. The fried thigh and wings were also juicy, savory, and the meat just fell off the bone! Last but not least was the matcha tiramisu. It was creamy, kind of pudding like, and beyond just okay. The staff are incredibly welcoming and nice. It's a bit noisy but I especially liked how the bathroom looked. They had one of those fancy Japanese toilets, a color changing disco ball, and fun music. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and 10/10 recommend!!! read more

Service was attentive and friendly! Food was hot and fresh and tasted yummy! We had plenty of food for the two of us. We shared a couple of appetizers: Tako Wasa and Grilled Mackerel. Both were delicious. For main course we shared the Bone In Chicken and Garlic Rice and a side of fried Gizzard. Looking forward to going again! Only improvement I would suggest is the air conditioning. The vent was directly above us so maybe seating could be arranged where guests are not seated directly below the cold AC vent. read more

Got the 12 piece thighs for $27. Pretty steep price considering each piece was about 1/4 of a thigh, but I was willing to pay if it was great. It was so-so. The pieces were overcooked and chewy and not fully battered. Considering the price you'd think a couple dipping sauces might come with the order, but no. All sauces were $1 extra. I may give the rest of their menu a try, but there's a lot of local competition in the Asian fried chicken world. And prices are lower in some of the more established shops in Garden Grove and Westminster. Considering the place was half full of customers, I still had to wait 20 minutes for my order. read more

cute place and the food looks rlly good! but it's just ok imo the chicken falls out of the crispy shell immediately and isn't very flavorful, i was missing the pickled red radish katsu curry bowls usually come with, and the cabbage was quite sour instead of vinegary crazy bathroom tho service was great! read more

Stopped in for lunch today and to say this spot was amazing would be an understatement. My order was the Miso Cutlet Chicken Burger and the Mix Fried Chicken Set Meal. Both are worth returning for. The burger is probably my top 3 Fried chicken sandwich ever. Portions are generous. Ambiance is great(bathroom has a little fun secret,check it out). Service was amazing. everything was spot on and delicious. we got the miso soup, cucumber app, tomaran bou, edamame, assorted pickles, french fries, potato salad, 6 pieces of karaage, chicken ramen and the curry. and not one of those disappointed. service was also very attentive but never to the point of being too much. only complaint is that we came on a friday night and had to wait about 20-30 min for a table. great addition to the japanese food available in HB. will be a new regular in out rotation!! read more

The karaage fried chicken here is fantastic! Ordered the 4-piece thigh set that includes rice, miso soup, pickles and cabbage salad. Served at blistering temps (as it should) so be careful. Hint: pass on the toppings as the salt & pepper blend, red pepper flakes and mayo are complimentary and in my opinion, better "as is." So glad authentic kaarage has arrived in OC! read more

You can check my profile, but I rarely leave reviews. I'm putting a 5-star review here because the lady next to me (a fellow customer) was being a huge pain, complaining incessantly. She didn't like that the food she ordered was the food she ordered. She was complaining about how she didn't realize Japanese curry was "like that", but she knew she liked Thai curry. She was being absolutely insufferable, but the service was extremely kind and worked around that. She asked for a different meal, and they kindly accommodated. She was being a huge pain about not wanting to pay for the food she didn't want, and so they kindly accommodated that as well! This woman was horrid and insufferable, and I wouldn't be surprised if she left a poor review. She was a textbook example of a horrible person. If you see a review complaining about anything I mentioned, please ignore it. The food is good and the service is good. Come check it out if you have time! read more
