We waited about 15 min to get seated. Service: We wanted to sit at the bar for the experience. If you're planning on getting the sets of hand rolls, sitting at the bar will give you a casual, omakase-like experience. The chef presents the hand rolls to you one-by-one. Spectacular place! Kei Concepts does it again by making a phenomenal handroll place. We found this on a whim online and luckily, we came without revelations. We were seated immediately at the bar. We noticed that if you wanted tables for dining, you definitely need a reservation. We were able to park in the parking lot with. The front. It was a busy day and the lot had only a couple of spots left. When we were seated, we were already looking at the appetizers. We decided to order their crispy rice tartare. We also ended up ordering the 7 piece hand roll set and two salmon inari. The 7 piece hand roll set came with salmon, yellowtail, toro, crispy tuna, blue crab, unagi, and a scallop roll. We were able to substitute 2 rolls because of my shellfish allergy; we took off the scallops and blue crab, and ended up ordering a salmon hand roll and a toro roll instead (toro is an extra $2 for substitution). I audibly gasped when the inari came out. They were HUGE! And absolutely tasty! The tofu skin wasn't overpowering or too sweet. The rolls itself were hefty and savory. The fish were fresh. The other impressive dish was their crispy tartare! We ended up ordering again because we were so impressed by its flavors. To complement our meals, we ordered a beer each. Their pricing has always been easy on the pocket but I've been coming even more so, now that they have rolled out their new lunch special. 4 hand rolls (salmon, blue crab, scallops and spicy tuna), a side of edamame AND miso soup for $15. Can't pass that up! I thought it would be a small and dinky meal, but it's a pretty good portion. I did order an extra $5 Salmon Inari, delectable, would recommend and would order again. It is served Omakase style where rolls are served one at a time for immediate consumption. This heightens freshness, soft rice and crispy seaweed. Rolls here are prepped more simply and delicately. In a good way, this preparation style brings out the sweet and fresh of the seafood. I would definitely categorize the rolls here a clean eat. Parking is a little tough but there's additional parking in back of plaza. Seating can also be a little rough, it's a small space, but the staff work quick. Came here for lunch with my sisters on a Tuesday. Parking lot was full, but luckily found a spot. Our reservation was for 1pm, we arrived a little early so we waited outside before checking in. We were seated at the bar area. The space is very tight, and as a small gal I felt overly self conscious trying to hop into my seat without bumping into anyone. We ordered the lunch hand roll along with a lobster roll. The nori was so crunchy I'm not sure I've ever has a handroll this crunchy and delicious. Few of the rolls had too much mayo, but overall was a great meal. The highlight was definitely the lobster hand roll. I'm glad we added that to our lunch special. There's a decent amount of parking during the evening at the place (near the bank). Was sat relatively quickly. Cell phone signal is a bit bad for certain carriers and wifi seems to have a password (with no password listed anywhere) so the menu took a bit long to load. The vibe is modern and sleek - def a younger crowd (as most Kei spots are) - it's also a bit loud inside, so not really a place for intimate conversations. Got a 6 roll set. The rolls felt a little small filling wise and not too punchy of a favor, but was more disappointed in the nori being pretty chewy vs crisp (despite eating the rolls immediately when served). Overall - the prices didn't really fit the quality, but maybe with drinks and the vibe it works for some guests. After visiting the Fountain Valley location, we decided to give this location a try. If you're looking not to be seated in a too close for comfort situation at the bar, this location may suit you. Unlike the Fountain Valley location, there are individuals tables and half booths available. Reservations are necessary if you visit during the lunch hour. We arrived at 11:30 am and the place was about half full. I love the lunch specials here, which include the lunch 4 hand roll set, and the Kaisendon and Donburi bowl. I decided to try the Donburi lunch special which comes with miso soup and edamame. The Donburi comes with Spicy Tuna and Salmon which sits on top of steamed rice and comes with avocado, sesame seeds, furikake, and cucumbers. I switched out the Spicy Tuna for Yellowtail at no cost. It was good to try, but they were skimpy with the cucumbers and avocado. Flavorwise, it was a pretty boring meal. We also ordered the 4 hand roll lunch special ($15), which also comes with miso soup and edamame. They do allow you to make substitutions and charge a bit extra if you switch out for a premium hand roll. We paid $2 more for a lobster hand roll substitution. Finally, we ordered my husband's favorite and a must order, the Surf and Turf along with a Toro and Truffle hand roll. Although our server was great, along with the staff. I found this location to be a bit too chaotic. Food arrived at times that were too spaced out. Our last hand roll took so long that we thought they forgot about it. My go to item here is the kaisendon. It's one of their lunch specials that's available until 4 pm everyday. The bowl contains rice on the bottom, topped with salmon, spicy tuna, shrimp, scallop, and blue crab. How you eat the don is as normal until about the halfway point. You'll then request for the miso salmon broth to be poured into the bowl for a whole new flavor. That's my favorite part. Service here is always top notch. They're super nice and attentive. They have a deal going on now for 4 hand rolls, edamame, and miso soup for $15.00 - it is super filling! Eat half the bowl and then they will pour miso salmon broth to make it a tasty porridge-like option and topped with lemon zest. For $19 this is easily 2 meals for me.
