    Interior seated dining

Spectacular place! Kei Concepts does it again by making a phenomenal handroll place. We found this on a whim online and luckily, we came without revelations. We were seated immediately at the bar. We noticed that if you wanted tables for dining, you definitely need a reservation. We were able to park in the parking lot with. The front. It was a busy day and the lot had only a couple of spots left. When we were seated, we were already looking at the appetizers. We decided to order their crispy rice tartare. We also ended up ordering the 7 piece hand roll set and two salmon inari. The 7 piece hand roll set came with salmon, yellowtail, toro, crispy tuna, blue crab, unagi, and a scallop roll. We were able to substitute 2 rolls because of my shellfish allergy; we took off the scallops and blue crab, and ended up ordering a salmon hand roll and a toro roll instead (toro is an extra $2 for substitution). I audibly gasped when the inari came out. They were HUGE! And absolutely tasty! The tofu skin wasn't overpowering or too sweet. The rolls itself were hefty and savory. The fish were fresh. The other impressive dish was their crispy tartare! We ended up ordering again because we were so impressed by its flavors. To complement our meals, we ordered a beer each. The service here is quick and smooth. The servers here are trained very well and the are quick to assist. The chefs here are very observant and organized with their craft. I'm utterly impressed and would love to come back for another round. Well done, Kei Concepts!

Good, clean, cheap eats. I know a good deal when I see one! I have been coming to Rol for a while now, for their Maki Sets, pretty fresh and tasty. Their pricing has always been easy on the pocket but I've been coming even more so, now that they have rolled out their new lunch special. 4 hand rolls (salmon, blue crab, scallops and spicy tuna), a side of edamame AND miso soup for $15. Can't pass that up! I thought it would be a small and dinky meal, but it's a pretty good portion. I did order an extra $5 Salmon Inari, delectable, would recommend and would order again. It is served Omakase style where rolls are served one at a time for immediate consumption. This heightens freshness, soft rice and crispy seaweed. Rolls here are prepped more simply and delicately. In a good way, this preparation style brings out the sweet and fresh of the seafood. I would definitely categorize the rolls here a clean eat. Parking is a little tough but there's additional parking in back of plaza. Seating can also be a little rough, it's a small space, but the staff work quick. I'd say make the time, it's pretty worth it. Service is good, every staff member I've had in my experiences has been attentive and friendly. The price for this quality and quantity of food is unheard of these days. I'm a regular for sure!

Came here for lunch with my sisters on a Tuesday. Parking lot was full, but luckily found a spot. Our reservation was for 1pm, we arrived a little early so we waited outside before checking in. We were seated at the bar area. The space is very tight, and as a small gal I felt overly self conscious trying to hop into my seat without bumping into anyone. We ordered the lunch hand roll along with a lobster roll. The nori was so crunchy I'm not sure I've ever has a handroll this crunchy and delicious. Few of the rolls had too much mayo, but overall was a great meal. The highlight was definitely the lobster hand roll. I'm glad we added that to our lunch special. If this place was closer to home, I definitely would be coming regularly. Hope they expand out to LA county.

Waiters? Lovely. Ambiance? Amazing. Food? Great. I've had ROL before in the past before with friends & family, however I decided to come here alone post workout for a quick bite. I've seen their Kaisendon bowl advertised as a lunch time special before and decided to stop by to try it today. It was delicious, fresh, & had came with a floral broth, gari and wasabi. I was slightly surprised when I got the $14 uni add-on and it was a small piece of uni. But, I will admit it was fresh & creamy. Overall, wonderful fresh fish but only get the uni add-on if you're REALLY in the mood to shell out a midwestern minimum wage worker's hourly pay for high quality uni. Other than that, the $19 bowl itself is a bang for your buck!

Freshly made. Not overly riced Just enough carb and the right amount of flavor This brand is consistent with the quality of their locations

Date-y vibes, but handrolls were a miss. Went on a Friday evening- they offer rsvp but was a last minute dinner, so did the Yelp waitlist. There's a decent amount of parking during the evening at the place (near the bank). Was sat relatively quickly. Cell phone signal is a bit bad for certain carriers and wifi seems to have a password (with no password listed anywhere) so the menu took a bit long to load. The vibe is modern and sleek - def a younger crowd (as most Kei spots are) - it's also a bit loud inside, so not really a place for intimate conversations. Got a 6 roll set. The rolls felt a little small filling wise and not too punchy of a favor, but was more disappointed in the nori being pretty chewy vs crisp (despite eating the rolls immediately when served). Overall - the prices didn't really fit the quality, but maybe with drinks and the vibe it works for some guests. I'd prefer places like KazuNori, The Bar or Temaki Society for handrolls though.

ROL is just as good as I remembered. I've been to their fountain valley location few years ago and it was delicious too. They offer 4 different sets. We ordered The High Roller set and 7-set between the two of us. We probably have a big appetite and had to order 2 extra rolls on the side lol. There were only 5pcs for the high roller set but with fancier roll. Thought it was not that much food. We could easier order another set of 5 to share. My favorites were blue crab, toro, truffle mushroom and uni & toro. They were all very delicious.

Really sad that this location is closed now. Loved that they had table options instead of just bar top.

Coming in the restaurant is cozy. There's a u-shape bar as you walk inside and a couple of tables on the other side of the restaurant. I ordered the high roller set. It was really good with premium fish/uni and cavier. I really enjoyed it. The rolls comes out one at a time as to my understanding so it doesn't get soggy which is much appreciated. The waiter was really nice. I would like to come back and try other stuff on their menu.

This was our second time going and everything was super fresh and delicious! It did take a little while to get seated so I recommend Yelp reservations asap! But once we did it was fast service. The kids enjoyed their fries and maki rolls. Adults got the 7 set rolls and it was super crispy, tasted fresh and hand roll perfection.

10.12.25 - I've been here in this building about 4+ years ago back when it was The Cure Kitchen & Bar with some friends. They closed and changed to Rol Hand Roll Bar some time after and I haven't had the chance to check it out until now. This place did not disappoint. It wasn't busy at the time so we were seated right away. I wish I could've eaten more but 3 filled me up at the time. Staff were all great and food came out/ was made quick! I ordered the uni & toro, uni and yellowtail hand rolls. My friend ordered the salmon inari, cucumber salad and furikake fries. All of the hand rolls were delicious. Everything tasted fresh. My favorite was the uni & toro. Cucumber salad and fries were good too. I would try some other rolls on the menu next time as well as the inari. The Kaisendon bowl sounds good too. We need places like this in AZ!

Finally got to try their lunch specials: Kaisendon and hand roll set. Everything was very good and filling. The workers were very nice and everything was brought out quickly. The tuna crispy rice was very yummy, it was crispy and the rice was still very fluffy. They validate parking in the parking structure. ig: @cravingswithcat

Sister was craving sushi, so we came here. Got the cucumber salad and spicy tuna crunch, as well as a few hand rolls. Loved the scallop and spicy salmon crunch the most. All the ingredients are always great and fresh. Service was great, and the inside is super cute.

I was lucky enough to stumble across this gem of the center of OC when they first opened - and I am proud to be a regular here. I don't know how to go somewhere else - because I feel like the staff are giant gems in this jewel of a spot. Winters is a curator of boozy information that has helped me learn about "gin" and "root beer whiskey" so I can sound like an adult-ish purveyor, when really I know close to nothing except being a willing student to his creations. Dan the Man and Jacob always see me raise my hand in the corner of the bar, like the student I am, and have been willing to fill in the blanks for me when I know I am of thirst, but do not have the words for what to order. Every person working in the well has treated me with kindness - they have taken the time to get to know me, and I will be forever appreciative of how they have taken care of me over the years. But the real joy has been the transformation that this spot has for building a community of people in Santa Ana for real recognizing real. I have been bringing my Dad with me to play pool for the past few years. Sometimes people ask me if he plays professionally, I am terrible, and my skill incline is slow, he is patient and plays with the same level craftiness that the staff offer the cocktails. My Dad is always stoked when we have time to go have a few hours of games at 616 - especially now that there are regulars on 4th street that are excited to see that he is there playing - and they rush to write their names on the chalkboard to challenge him - or beat him in a game they really earned the W. On lazy Sundays, I watch couples sit with their drink, listening to Jazz, and watching my Dad whoop my ass while making amazing shots. I am forever grateful to Memo who sometimes takes a break from his shift behind the bar to give my dad an actual challenge - which allows me the chance to watch my Dad enjoy fellowship around the table. Knowing the table was a relic of the bars former self, and knowing the history that this spot has in Santa Ana is a reminder that so much around us can change - but it is those moments of the crack of the rack, the cheer of getting the combo shot, and the shake of hands when it's over that shows that it's not just about the pool table - but about the energy of a place that is welcoming and curated by people who care about what they do - and care about who comes through their doors. Thank you Jason and Mike B to bringing this to 4th St and supporting the community that was already here - and for building a community for the future. Thank you to Christina and Brandon for always having amazing pictures, decor, and fun events at 616 that help introduce new folks into this great spot. Time is short. Learn about Root Beer Whiskey. The decorations, the lights, and the music all come together to give an ambiance that just feels so inviting to where you want to take your time while you're here. The service is top notch, all the staff are lively and accommodating. The menu is very creative including fun drink names and plenty of versatility in the types of dishes you can order. Be on the lookout for special dishes on different days of the week. We ordered the steak and mushroom skewers which are nice appetizers to hold you over until the entrees hit the table. The drinks hit the spot as well and luckily we came during happy hour so we got a little discount on the apps/drinks. We decided to try roasted half chicken with the potato salad which were both absolutely fantastic. The chicken was cooked perfectly, just incredibly tender and juicy. The potato salad was well seasoned, had a great texture, and was a nice compliment to the chicken. As we were eating, a DJ came in and started mixing up some cool tracks which just amplified our experience even more. Also, Sonder is my favorite word so bonus points there (I guess I'm biased). Anyways, I'm thrilled with my first visit here and will undoubtedly be checking this place out again! Would highly recommend you come visit Sonder, you can thank me later!!

There was a DJ spinning that evening and she was fantastic. I loved having the music going but also feeling like we were able to easily have a conversation. Going off memory I know we got all of the skewers and we struggled going around and what our faves were. Even the mushroom skewer was out of this world. We also got the charred beets which were a fave of mine and the table also enjoyed the pork fried rice. Some outshined others but there was nothing we ordered that were a disappointment. We also had great service and our waitress was very attentive bringing us our different courses and checking in on if we needed refills on our cocktails.
