We have enjoyed eating here and at the Irvine location many times, and would like to shoutout the amazing service today! We arrived around 12pm on a Sunday, and was greeted immediately. We wanted to order to-go but eat a little bit at the restaurant, and the worker understood our request. He ended up serving us as if we were dining in, giving us extra sauces and sides. The restaurant was clean and spacious. We ordered the sweet garlic tenders, chan chan kimpbap, and rose tteokbokki with wide glass noodles and cheese. Kimbap was really fresh and tasty. We got the half and half spam /bulgogi. I preferred the bulgogi. Also got the chan chan tteokbokki with flat noodles. We got mild because my friend can't handle spicy and the mild was borderline too spicy for her. For me as a spice lover it was perfect. The wide noodles were nice and chewy. They weren't great next day but that was expected. You could choose wheat or rice tteokbokki and we got rice. It was served w soy sauce pickled radish w jalapeño and kimchi. Both were good. Food is yummy and has big portions. Service is also nice, it's usually fairly empty. the place has nice music and is very clean. Rose pasta, spicy ham and sausage noodles and chan chan rice cakes are my top dishes. I wish you could add meat like ham or spam onto the rice cakes. Sadly, their parking situation is horrible and it took me over 20 minutes to find any parking. It is quite frustrating and unfortunately is not worth the time for me especially when I call ahead to place an order with the intention to save myself time during work hours. I've always eaten at the Irvine location but definitely wanted to give HB's location a try. Chan Chan & Sweet Garlic Wings (5/5) If there's anything about these wings they have the perfect crunch to the skin. So crispy and decadent. .That audible crunch that makes the whole table go wild. The meat underneath stays impossibly juicy. The Chan Chan sauce hits that perfect balance of sweet and spicy. A little heat that creeps up gently, layered with savory depth and a subtle sweetness that lingers. But the Sweet Garlic? That one owns my heart. It's glossy, garlicky, slightly sticky, and dangerously addictive.  Chan Chan Kimbap (4.5/5) First of all, the portion size is extremely generous. All the flavor profiles are wrapped delicately and work harmoniously with each other. Each bite feels balanced; slightly sweet, slightly savory, fresh, and clean. I heard about Chan Chan Irvine, but since Huntington Beach is closer, decided to try HB location instead. We got there on Sat around 2pm and the restaurant was empty. I'm always a little apprehensive when the restaurant is empty, but we figured we would still try it out. For the most part, food was better than expected, like the kimbap. Kimbap here is excellent, with the right kind of rice (slightly sticky) and plenty of sesame oil. I love the ratio of veggies/meat to rice, since I don't like too much rice. We had the half and half of beef and spicy oden, and I'd def recommend beef over spicy oden. The tokbokki was a bit of a letdown, because I really wanted the retro style, which is the one they cook tableside (juksuk tokbokki). I haven't had that style since I left Korea, so I was excited but found out they only have it in Irvine location, bummer! I also wanted a glass of beer, but they don't have a liquor license yet, double bummer. But, service was nice, the ladies that work there were very attentive and efficient. We also ordered the chicken with green onions, and the chicken was fried perfectly. Their pickled radish was very good too, I'm kinda picky about my pickled radish that you get with Korean fried chicken, and theirs is really good. We ordered the Chan Chan Tenders, Sweet Chili Tenders, Chan Chan Rice Cake, and Kimchi and Spam Fried Rice to go. Our order was prepared and ready very quickly. We went to pick up the order and the staff was super friendly and helpful, as always! Special thanks to Chan Chan for giving us an extra treat - french fries! The french fries were such an awesome and generous treat! Chan Chan is absolutely first class and amazing in every way - food, service and atmosphere (if you dine in). In actuality, Chan Chan would be like a 4.5/5 for me. The food is GREAT, I love their sweet garlic wings and usually order them with kimchi fried rice or spicy tuna gimbap. The portions are pretty big and the amount I order is usually good for 2 people. However, it is fairly pricy compared to other spots in the area who offer the same amount of chicken for a couple dollars less, like bbQ chicken or KoKo's. I will say, I definitely like the flavor here better, but I wish it wasn't as expensive. Another thing that lowered the rating slightly is the service. The servers are quick seating us and the food comes out quick, they are all pretty nice. However, often times I feel like they are just waiting for us to leave and wanting to get us out of the restaurant as soon as possible despite having few other customers. Hard to find a Korean place that's not only KBBQ or just Korean fried chicken. Food here is so good - we got our food to go so I can only imagine what it would be if we had it there. The sweet garlic was a non spicy sauce and the Chan Chan had a slight kick to it and I would describe it as more of a soy garlic sauce. The Rose pasta was very rich and creamy and spicier than the wings but very tasty. Portion sizes were on the large side. The restaurant is located in a strip mall next to a gym. An excellent Korean restaurant! The food here at Chan Chan is great! I tried the spicy seafood rice cakes and they were so yummy. The restaurant gives a generous portion that you could easily make 2 meals out of. It's not too spicy so if you're scared about the spicy title it's not too bad and doesn't hurt your mouth. It's a little salty, but when I reheated it back at home I just added a little more water and sugar and it was perfect. Their rice cakes are also so soft and chewy. The texture is really nice. I also tried the Chan Chan Kimbap which seems to be their house special Kimbap. It was very good. I loved how the ingredients are overflowing out of the sides so you get a little extra of the filling. Great rice texture and great nori texture. Another thing I loved about this restaurant is their sauces. If you get the chicken please make sure to try their house garlic sauce. It's delicious and super garlicky. The staff here are really nice and will ask any questions you have about the menu. They'll even be able to identify menu items based on yelp photos if you don't know which dish is which. We ordered their gimbap for takeout. I opted for the beef gimbap. It came with a couple of dips and a side of pickled radish. The beef gimbap had really good flavor. Meat was very tender and not at all chewy. Ingredients used were very fresh. Only downside is that the gimbap is very pricey compared to the ones you can get in Garden Grove. After our massage in Cypress, we were looking for some place to get some good food. I am a firm believer that Korean wings are the best type of wings ever. So it was a no brainer to come and give this place a try. It's pretty small in here. And sterile looking. Could definitely work on the esthetics of this place. They have several lunch specials on the menu. As well as actual Korean fried chicken, chicken bites, chicken tenders, fried, other deep fried options, noodles and many other offerings. We went with a special as well as chicken tenders and their beef kimbap roll. Food comes out quick here. But they did forget to put sauce on the chicken bites for the special. Which they quickly rectified and gave us 50% off off the special. Included in the special was a soup, some fried rice cakes and fries. Lots of different things that came with the special. The chicken tenders were not as crispy as I'm use too with Korean fried wings. Good flavors though. I really liked the different sauces you can dip your food in. The beef kimbap was ok. Flavors were muted. But lots of peices though. Overall a solid Korean chicken spot. I would love to try their actual fried wings in the future.
