TLDR: Don't use GadgetsMadeEazy, use Cape Coastal Computers (https://www.yelp.com/biz/cape-coastal-computers-falmouth) instead. We had a very negative experience with Sarah, the owner. My 85 year old mother in law called her in for some help with an aging computer. I had tried to fix it with her over the phone, but she didn't know how to get the remote support going and I couldn't talk her through it successfully. So, we called in some help. It's unclear if there was a real technical problem with the system in the first place, or if it was just configuration or user error. Sarah decided the computer was too old and slow and it wasn't worth the time it would take to address whatever the problem might have been. Sarah came back a few days later, came in and literally just took the old computer away. She says this was the plan all along, my mother in law was totally surprised by this, but was overwhelmed by Sarah's (let's say "forceful" as opposed "condescending", "bossy", etc.) personality. There was no discussion of budget to be spent on a new system, In fact, there was no contract of any kind. Nothing written at all. No estimates, no hourly rate, etc. Nothing. And, no discussion of what kind of system she would buy. Sarah would just decide. At this point I heard about this and got involved remotely (I have a computer science background and have dealt with countless machines and am "tech support" for many friends and family members.) I spoke with Sarah and expressed surprise at how this was done. I suggested that we go with a Chromebase system (for my mothers limited needs) as opposed to another complicated Windows 11 system. Sarah just pooh-pooh'ed that idea (I don't think she or her staff know how to work with Chrome OS systems) and essentially insisted on her choice of system. This was Friday, December 24th. I said let's not move forward with anything until I have a chance to go over this with my Mother. She said she wasn't going to be doing anything over the holiday anyway. On Monday, December 27th I received a note saying everything has been purchased, the disk drive from her old machine has been removed and files transferred. WTF! Not only that, if I didn't want that solution there would be costs to restocking the system and putting the drive back in her old system. AND, the system she bought wasn't what we wanted at all. She decided that replacing the nice, neat, all-in-one system that she'd been using with a stand alone screen and a separate HP Mini box was a better way to go. I actually think that she just had this system kicking around her office because when I asked for the receipts to see what had been purchased, and at what cost, I got the next bombshell. She's "wiped and returned" the HP computer she bought, put the old disk back in the old machine and will make arrangements to return it to my mother. A few days later one of Sarah's minions did indeed drop off the old machine, but forgot a cable. She came back the next day with the cable. AND A BILL for $185. For zero useful work. Absolutely ZERO. Sarah's headline on her website is: "Don't wait for your kids, call Sarah!" We felt this whole thing bordered on elder abuse. I ended up using a different company to help her install a Chromebase system. This has (at least so far) fit her needs perfectly.
