This place is the culinary equivalent of showing up to the 9th hole wearing two different loafers. For starters, I ordered a simple chicken taco. What I received could best be described as philosophically chicken adjacent. I'm not saying it was undercooked, but I've seen more heat applied to a cocktail shrimp on the club's buffet line. The taco was also assembled with all the care of a distracted golf cart driver--ingredients spilling out everywhere, sauce dripping like someone overturned a bottle while checking their stock portfolio. I have been sleeping on Gadzooks for a few years now. I thought... "soup & enchiladas, I don't get it".... until I was injured and could only eat liquids. First order was delivery through their website by way of Yelp. I ordered the tortilla and the corn chowder.... added deluciousness to the tortilla and left the chowder as was with the lava sauce on the side. They're not joking about lava on the salsa. I added a bit too much to a plain chowder and it was far too spicy for me... Next time, I ordered the potato enchiladas and chicken tacos, again through the app. They were out of potato, I learned when the dasher deluvered the order with a missing item and I called the restaurant. I don't typically eat meat and the tacos weren't for me. I was bummed the restaurant employee was unaware of how I placed the order, considering I did it direct on their site. So, the communication was not relayed until I called. I am not dropping points because it was so good, a bit salty for me but not overly so. First time being here . Let the review begin ! The lady who helped me was the absolute best 10/10 rating for that . For the food ........ not so much at all. I'm a sauce guy and every sauce they have to offer just isn't good at all ...... My enchiladas had potatoes and braised short rib in one. Another had chicken and cornbread and then another I just had beef . I tried the red / green enchiladas sauces and they both were so underwhelming no flavor , salt or anything .... . I then moved to the " cold " sauces which were jalapeño ranch , Lava , a cilantro rancy one I think ? Red and green. The lava which is the hottest is a medium heat and has so much like white vinegar taste ... not good . The verde one as well as this almost white vinegar like alcohol taste I'm not sure what it is but it's bad . The Roja one is just plain and nothing . I was eating enchiladas with Jalapeño ranch at the end of it ..... like how bad is that ? .... This post is long overdue. Prior to the pandemic this was a frequent spot I liked to dine in regularly. I'm guilty for driving past the 7th street & Osborn location for years until one day I gave them a shot. I'm pretty picky but love a restaurant that not only is local but allows you to pick the options you want in your food. My fan favorite is the Tortilla Soup. The broth is amazing. Then you get to load it up with all your favorite toppings. There is no meat in it unless you add it. Be sure to get it toasted in the brick oven. There are many options to choose from for food, drinks and some crafted drinks. The price point is reasonable for fresh home cooked meal. read more

I gotta admit I use to love Gadzooks. However the past 3 orders back to back have been so disappointing. I always order online because I do larger orders... 3 orders back to back this store has been out of 1 to 2 of 7 fillings at 11am when they open. The kicker is they don't tell you until you arrive to pick up the order OR they just cancel the entire order without reasoning but don't worry they will still charge your card & you'll have to keep calling for a refund. So disappointed becoming here for a few years used to be really good. It's really gone downhill now got the corn chowder. It was like water not thick at all. Got some chips. Love Gadzooks! Got a chopped salad, and it was delicious and everything I've ever wanted in a casual Mexican salad. Their braised beef is perfect. Usually, it's too salty or too oily, but not here. It's just right. Everything else was very fresh, like their lettuce, cabbage, cheese, and sauce. It doesn't look I, but it's filled with so much flavor. Their honey sauce was the cherry on top. Josh helped me and he was very patient and helpful. The meal was $10, and I think it's a great bang for your buck. There's outdoor seating, so I basked under the sun and enjoyed this meal thoroughly. First and last time coming here. I placed an online order at 2:40 pm and it said it would be ready at 3 pm. I get there at 2:55 and let them know I have an online order and give my name. There are no other customers in this place and three ladies who look like they are on drugs working. One of them starts making it and gets distracted. Then another starts working on my order. Entire time they are talking to each other gossiping. Then at 3:05 pm they all walk to the back together while I am waiting for my food that is completed and just sitting behind the counter. They all come back out at 3:09 pm and finally bag up my food and apologize. Extremely odd they prepared my food and let it sit behind the counter to go do something in the back together. Absolutely amazing food!! Tonight was my first night going and I could not have been more impressed! It was clean, the employees were so friendly and so welcoming that it just made the experience so awesome and the food is some of the best I've had in a long time! A fun new takeout spot offering fast "chipotle like" items. I opted for the salad, and unlike chipotle they don't offer vegan protein but instead mushrooms and sautéed spinach as well as cornbread! Both were absolutely delicious on top a salad! We also had to try their guac and chips and they were also a hit! The service was kind and informative - the guys talked us through how to order from start to finish while he was making fresh tortillas! They also offer sangria and margaritas! I drove 15 minutes to get to this restaurant today, and when I went to check out, they casually informed me that I don't accept cash as a payment. That is what I had available to use at the time, and I always do cash because of convenience for me. I told them I could that was the only way I could pay, and they baidcalky said, "Tough luck, that's not our problem." I don't care whether you use cash a lot or not, this is terrible customer service. In a way, it's like blatant "F you" to the customers. They must not need business, because this is showing they don't care what customers' needs are, they just choose whatever is convenient for them. Just know that whatever you think about the cashless issue, this is the attitude that this company will provably have about every aspect of customer service. 5 stars for fast casual? Yes. This place is a serious gem. The food is better than you get at a lot of full service places. Fresh, fresh, fresh. Why would you go to Chipotle when you could come here? You can pick enchilada, taco, nachos, soup, or salad. Generally, pick your item, your filling. Then it gets heated up and finally, topped with whatever you want. I recommend the 50/50 flour/corn tortillas or the spicy corn chowder soup with all the toppings. So good! This location is always clean and has easy parking. Highly recommended! read more

I scouted the well reviewed corn chowder and that made me come in to try. First time in, so I had no idea what I'm getting myself into, similar "go down the line" and choose options like chipotle. ALEX was wonderful, she explained every item to me and gave her recommendation which is what I prefer. She's really great with customer service which feels rare these days. 5/5 would steal her for my business. Corn chowder with green enchilada sauce, pickled onions, little shredded chicken, jack and cotija cheeses...was delicious. Easily 5/5 recommend to anyone...but you're only getting 4/5 because I had to leave mid meal and take it to go as there was NO AIR CONDITIONING. To learn you have 5 locations and don't have someone actively fixing your A/C is laughable. Owners could do better on that part. Don't be lazy and cheap about it, it will reflect your reviews, future business and possibly staff. I hope you take good care of your awesome employee, Alex. We always order 2 enchiladas, there are different fillings but their chicken is delicious and they have these homemade tortillas that are both corn and flour that are great. We get both the red and the green sauce and both cheeses. After they are baked we add some cojito cheese on top. We also get a small side of their cornbread stuffing, it's a must. Their chips and salsa are fresh with both red and green salsas. On the side we get some slaw and jalapeno ranch. It's really the ultimate comfort food and they have a generous rewards program. Fantastic tacos, not only were they fresh but they were packed as you can see on my photos. They were loaded to the brim. I like the chicken more than the beef but that's not saying the beef was bad. I also sampled their soups too and both the tortilla lime soup and the spicy potato were great. I had been so excited to check this place out after hearing wonderful things. Maybe I had expectations too high but we left pretty disappointed. We came around 3pm on a Saturday and it was dead. We were the only patrons there. I know it's an off hour but even on the weekend seemed a little odd. The ordering process is outlined with options written on the board over the counter. It is a little odd though. You assemble your enchilada base, then pay, then add toppings. I know this allows the time needed for the food to cook in between but no one really explained how it worked so it was quite the awkward ordering process. We also kept having to repeat ourselves even though neither of us speak quietly. Just felt really awkward. For two meals and one drink our total was about $22. I had pork enchiladas with red sauce, cheese, pico and crema. My girlfriend got two chicken street tacos. Honestly our food was not great... I thought the pork was pretty flavorless. Neither of us were fans of the tortillas either. I know this may be a bit user error since you are creating your own concoction but I still found it to be very blah. The concept is amazing and we were so excited to try it. There's 3 people behind the counter passing down bowls so I feel like it got chaotic. It was all going great until somehow my order was confused for someone else's and no one noticed, including me. I continued to top what I thought were my enchiladas. Once I reached home, 20 mins later, the potato hash enchiladas I ordered, turned into a chicken enchilada and a spinach enchilada. The sauces was all wrong and it was not my order. I ate it anyways and the chicken was absolutely dry and tasteless. My experience sucked, waited 15 mins in line for them to only mess up my order. read more

So i took the chance of going down and they would be understanding. The girl making tortillas, was marginally attentive and pleasant but had no trouble barking out , can't get three, only one. I've had lunch at this location three times, dined in and ordered take out and it is amazing each time! The process is efficient, the ingredients are fresh and the staff is friendly. The portion size is good and don't get me started on the cookies! When I order or dine here I usually get the salad with chicken or pork, add in a mix of cheeses with several toppings (pickled onions, honey slaw, guacamole, tortilla strips, cotija cheese, etc). Every time I've ordered this I've been very satisfied! Beyond the salads, my friends that have visited with me have tried the soup and their enchiladas and they say the same thing, "When can we eat at Gadzooks again?!" Before I end this review I must tell you to try the cookies. They are pumpkin cookies with brown sugar glaze on top. I'm not even a pumpkin flavor fan but the fluffy cookie has quickly become my favorite and has made me re-consider trying all other pumpkin flavor items. I picked 2 enchiladas as my entree, corn tortillas (options are flour or corn), protein green chili pork & braised short rib, green sauce, cheese .. I added the cornbread after seeing it as an option.. looked like stuffing with roasted corn .. then they put the whole plate in a pizza like oven .. I asked for a fountain drink and paid and found a table .. waited for them to call me .. Turns out once it comes out of the oven you can pile on more toppings ... the young man at the counter had to lean out and call me over so I could finish my order.. oops! He asked if it was my first time and then explained how the toppings worked .. I went with salsa and honey slaw .. there were a ton of extras - dressing, cheese, salsa, lettuce, etc The food was soo good.. the corn tortilla was delicious even though it was under all the toppings.. the flavor was good! The meat and toppings were all seasoned well.. the oven put a little crust on top and melted the cheese .. yum!!
