We brought my daughter's car into Galaxy to be repaired. All her lights came on one morning (except check engine). The power steering didn't work and neither did the air conditioner. We took it in and left it. After awhile they called and said it was a shirt in the power steering column, and it would be $698 to fix it. So I told him to go ahead, if he was positive that's what it was. He said yes. About an hour later, he called me back and said he was mistaken and it would be $958, and he didn't think that was what was causing the problem, but regardless, it needed to be replaced. He said, and then they'd go from there. I told him I'd have to talk to my husband first so I'd have to let him know later. My husband and I decided we didn't feel goid about any of this since the car was fine when she drive it home the night before. Then, in the morning, all of a sudden the power steering needs to be replaced and it's not related to all the lights being on and air not working. Sounds fishy to us. So we called them and said since they really didn't know what was wrong with it, we were picking it up. When my husband picked it up, they told him it would be $200. My husband said, you didn't even fix it! You don't know what's wrong with it and you're going to charge me? So he begrudgingly said it would be $140, and then charged him $143.50(??). Never again!! We took it to John at Irvine Auto Care. They told us what it was and fixed the car for $900. It was not what they said it was at Galaxy!! They don't know what they're doing over there. Honestly I always come to galaxy for my car needs. I feel so welcomed always and the service is always top tier. As a woman I always fear going to do anything with my car alone, you know I don't want to get ripped off, but here I know I'm getting the most of my buck. I don't think I've ever reviewed a mechanic shop. These guys are phenomenal. I've had my fair share of bad luck with mechanics. Mostly because I just listened to friends and family. Once I got tired of terrible experiences, I gave Galaxy automotive a chance and have never looked back. They have always been extremely honest throughout the whole process, and they are very well at explaining the vehicle problems/diagnosis. They work on a first come first serve basis, so I always recommend getting there early. Their turnaround time really depends on how busy they are, and how complex the job is. However, I think whatever the job is, it's worth the wait because it will get done well. They have always worked on my vehicles and have actually saved me time and money when the car becomes a money pit. Can't say enough great things. I've used Galaxy Automotive several times over the years and it's my go-to place for repairs - particularly the tricky ones that are hard to determine. Most recently, we had a Ford pickup with some sort of problem that would freeze the truck from moving at certain times - though the brakes worked fine normally. The guys at Galaxy listened to my "intermittent problem" (always tough to diagnose) and did some testing. They ended up finding an odd problem with my emergency brakes. It's fixed now and has worked perfectly since. The price was reasonable considering the time they spent on it. Bottom line is that I trust them and they really do good work. This place rocks! I called in about my car as my brakes were grinding, they told me to just bring it by. I did and left it with them to inspect, thinking they'd have it for a few days. They called me a few hours later with a diagnosis and told me they could have it fixed in a few more hours if I wanted to go ahead with the work! My older Toyota Carolla needed an oil change and smogging. The check Engine light was on and anyone that has an older vehicle knows what an absolute nightmare this can turn into. This place is first come first served so we were there early on a Thursday. Daniel was helpful and polite to work with. He Kept me informed about what needed to be done. I was amazed that my car had gotten the repairs it needed and passed smog all in one day!! The price was very affordable and included an oil change, check engine light diagnosis, repair to correct the problem and smogging. I added to my list that brake light lamp coming on dashboard with annoying pinging non stop, windshield wiper blades need replacing, and drain plug on oil pan leaking. I feel very bad and really sad as how this Automotive service has changed. I have been going to this place since 1999 , was getting good service and to appreciate that I did put very good remarks and review for them,, Now, as they have grown up , the standard has totally changed with poor and unprofessional and easy money making business. The reason for this remark was due to a very latest and bad experience I got . I gave them my Honda Sports car to get completely fixed and repair after an accident. The Insurance company fully paid them for complete repair per the full estimate and paid them in full. At that time , Galaxy could not fix the cracked screen saying that they could not get it that time but will get as soon as possible and fix it.
