This is our favorite neighborhood café. We visit this specific location regularly and order delivery often. Our favorites are the lumberjack wrap, the chimichurri steak wrap, and the grilled chicken sandwich. Service is always quick and easy, and (sadly) they are never too busy. I'm not vegetarian or allergic to gluten, but if you are they have lots of options. I feel like this place is incredibly underrated! A few things that would make them 6 stars: better coffee options (we often bring in our own coffee) and music in the background (why is it always so quiet?). read more

We've been going to the Galaxy in South Austin for years now. It is a delightful lunch or dinner spot, that we've enjoyed several times over the years. Recently, we've experienced some not poor quality to-go orders from their establishment. However, with willingness to try again, we went for a late brunch this past Sunday in the early afternoon. We ordered the galaxy breakfast bowl and a build your own breakfast wrap. The breakfast bowl was a perfect harmony of flavors and textures. The lack beans and crispy bacon paired wonderfully with the tender potatoes and fresh spinach. The sunny-side-up eggs added a rich, creamy touch, while the avocado offers a smooth, buttery finish. The bowl was a satisfying, well-balanced dish that's both hearty and healthy. I got the wrap on a spinach tortilla with cheddar cheese, breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, and green bell peppers. They have the most delicious spinach tortilla, it is by far my favorite that I've had at a restaurant. The breakfast sausage added a hearty touch to the wrap mixing well with the cheese and veggies. The only negative I have about the wrap was that their was an odd amount of liquid escaping from the tortilla as it was consumed, I am assuming it was from the runny-ness of the eggs. I'll give them 5 for our first visit for breakfast after leaving A few places with a 45 min. Wait! You have to get in line and order, get a number and get your drinks on the way to your table. The scrambled eggs and bacon were very good that my husband ordered. Not huge like some places but enough! I ordered a couple of pancakes that were delicious! I thought a full 3 would be too many but they aren't big ones. The sausage patties were good too. Nothing was all greasy like some places. Not huge portions to split but just right for one. Went in on Saturday. Friendly staff great service even after being seated. I ordered the traditional bkfst. It came with bacon, sausage, potatoes, ciabatta bread and eggs. I visited galaxy cafe on 1/7/2023 and tried their black french press coffee. The coffee was not as strong as I usually like my black coffee. It was a bit more on the lighter side for my french press preference. One thing that I enjoyed was that they served it in a mini french press as shown in my picture. I thought that was a cute touch! The cafe had a clean and inviting atmosphere. The service was also efficient due to them having you place your order before you sit down and eat. I love this place. Food has remained high quality for a decade. My only complaint is the prices keep creeping up. Decadent coffee and the herbal tea is a wonderful mix of cinnamon and sweetness that I crave! Some tried and true favorites: chicken salad sandwich on ciabatta has grapes, nuts and red onion - yum! Whipped sweet potatoes or sweet potato fries will not disappoint! Blue cheese burger is yum - I get that on ciabatta too. Breakfast is M - F 7AM - 11:30AM & weekends: 7AM - 4PM. When I'm starving I love the "Big breakfast" which comes with Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties, skillet potatoes with onions and bell peppers. One of the baristas at my favorite coffee shop suggested that we try out galaxy cafe. With limited option on favor that offered a greasy burger AND a lighter option, we decided on galaxy cafe and their free favor delivery. My expectations were not high. My boyfriend got a custom burger and he enjoyed it. I got the turkey and Brie sandwich. I always compare any turkey and Brie sandwich to the delicious Ferris brieler sandwich at Lyndsey's deli in Boulder, CO. This sandwich was very close to that deliciousness and I was amazed! I will definitely be back! Any food that makes me happy dance is worth a second visit! My only concern is that the prices are high for sandwiches. Galaxy always serves delicious food that is nicely presented. They even have a separate gluten free menu so its easy to have yummy dishes. You won't go away hungry. One friend had the giant Brie & turkey sandwich (took 1/2 home), another had the Brie burger and I had the fish wrap. We sat in a booth. You order eat the counter and the bring the food to you. The staff here is lovely. It is a great place to meet friends or work on a laptop. The breakfast was good as well as the French press coffee. I was a disappointed they didn't have espresso based drinks (lattes and such). My kids loved their pancakes, I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich, and my husband really liked the migas. Like it definitely had never been melted. The kicker was my bowl of tortilla soup. It was so small. There were like three small chunks of chicken. They gave tortilla strips and cheese on the side. It was the tiniest pinch of cheese ever. You could barely see it. I thought I was ordering a meal but it was not enough food to fill up a typical human adult. It's also literally just tortilla soup, so I don't understand being so stringy with the portions. Probably not ordering from here again. Sweet potato fries were just completely unsalted. I was at the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market, ordered a big breakfast for our family through Chownow on Google, and it was ready by the time I pulled up to the Brodie location. I really appreciate amazing customer service and this place had it. I loved that an actual person responded to the text when I checked in from my curbside spot. The person who brought our food out was helpful and didn't take long. The food itself was good. We got a little bit of everything. We all enjoyed it -- not bursting with flavor, but the portion sizes are great. We found we all needed to add salsa or salt, but nothing tasted bad. Cookies should make you happy, and this made me sad. I picked up my to-go order, ate my lunch and went for my delicious reward afterward. This is what I found. The saddest peanut butter chocolate chip cookie ever. I try to eat these cookies in such a way that I get one chip per bite. With this tiny sad constellation of chocolate chips, it was impossible to do so. To add insult to injury, the cookie had been carelessly placed in the bag chips down. It had not fallen that way. It was placed. So half of each sad chip was stuck to the top of the wrapper and not even on the cookie. After asking the hostess twice, she told me that I needed to order and pay at the counter and then be seated. She said our order would be brought to us. Their payment software asks for a 15% to 20% tip or no tip at the counter before you have received any service or food. Like at McDonald's, beverage service was our duty. Our food was mediocre. This was my first time dining here. It was quiet and had a really cool atmosphere. The staff were all so kind and extremely helpful with the menu. I ordered the roasted veggie Buddha bowl with chicken and it exceeded my expectations. It was delicious and I had a lot left over to take home with me for a separate meal. I usually hesitate on Brussel sprouts, but they were cooked well. The dining room was spacious and not a lot of customers dining in. This is always a go-to of mine. It's delicious, high-quality food from a place that offers ethical and organic options as often as possible. They also have some damn good coffee. Seriously. It's organic French press and there's something so special about it that's hard to place! Just so good. Breakfast options are great - Mediterranean breakfast and Denver scramble are delightful. My wife and I have eaten at Galaxy regularly for over 10 years now at various locations (this is an update from my Triangle review). First, just us with occasional friends, some with children. Then us with our own baby from newborn to now. For a couple years, we pretty much ate there weekly. They are friendly and welcoming of children. As with many restaurants, you have to find what you like. We've been disappointed by various breakfast offerings, so we try to stick with lunch or dinner there. We've been happy with various wraps, fish, steak, club (the fish wraps are our current favorite), and burgers. Four things merit special mention: * Burgers are great: especially the rolls which are critical to a good burger experience. One of our children is always comparing other burgers to Galaxy and telling us that others aren't as good and asking us to get the secret ingredient to Galaxy's great burgers. It's nice too that his children's meal burger can be ordered how he likes it (with lettuce, tomato, mayo) without additional upcharges. * the mac-and-cheese side is some of the best either of us has had, and the best hands-down from a restaurant. Occasionally, it's not up-to-par. But we get it a lot and it's most often top-notch. We have now spoiled our children with this: they will not eat M&C at any other restaurant. * the galaxy ice coffee is excellent. It's hard to get this kind of ice coffee in town -- a Thai/Vietnamese ice coffee is the closest thing. Coffee shops don't seem to have ice coffee of this type. * 2020 Thanksgiving/Christmas turkey by-the-lb to go. Fantastic. We hope this is a regular thing. It was just our immediate family for this 2020 Thanksgiving, so we looked around for turkey options, without roasting a whole one. We tried Galaxy's turkey take-away by-the-lb option (from Brodie location). Wow. Awesome! Just perfectly done, moist, and flavorful. We had such a good Thanksgiving meal that we did it again at Christmas. Again, with Galaxy turkey. And double-wow, it was even better. We don't know if this was just a special 2020 option given the epidemic situation (maybe you've even offered this in years past)... but we hope not :-) .
