Stopped in since we were in the area and saw they were open for lunch. I wanted to eat a steak so my iron levels would be good to donate blood afterwards. The steak was a perfectly cooked medium rare, charred, and the salt content was perfect with an awesome tasty slight crunch. We had a side of tasty broccoli to accompany the meal. It was so good, no broccoli spear was left behind. Normally, we don't eat bread (oh too good) but felt I had to, in order to fill up and not get weak for the blood donation. My husband had the burger. We forgot to ask for cheese, but it was also perfectly cooked. We ate at the bar and had the privilege of seeing Pat G sitting there as well. They had a pretty busy but quiet lunch crowd.

Hadn't been there in a while, took my husband for his birthday. I had no idea the quality had gone downhill so much. The noise level was ridiculous , we reserved a table a week prior. We were seated in the bar area where there were about 5 televisions on. Not what I expected from a fine dining restaurant. First the cocktail came out un-drinkable, that was fixed. We ordered the turtle soup and seafood gumbo, they were good. Less than 10 minutes after we ordered the meal it came out, it was like they were rushing us out. The steaks we ordered cooked medium were purplish blue in the middle. I showed it to the waitress and asked if that was their medium, she apologized and said no. They were brought back to the kitchen and of course now overcooked, because you can't really fix that. We ordered potatoes au gratin they were good. We ordered the brussels sprouts, which the waitress recommended. They tasted like overcooked boiled brussels that had been scooped out of a cafeteria tray after swimming all day in soggy bacon. Gross! They are a steak house, if you can't get that right...! The waitress did remove the un-edible brussels from the bill. There are too many wonderful restaurants in downtown Covington that don't claim to be steakhouses and can do them much better! I didn't see one local old Covington person in there which was very telling. Such a shame, they used to be so good! Guess this will go the way of the Winner's Circle.

I had a birthday brunch at Gallagher's Grill today and enjoyed the experience. There is an excellent lunch special menu and I had the broiled catfish meunière, which was prepared in the traditional style and was quite good. Sides of potato salad and green beans were also good, as was my accompanying Caesar salad. Service was friendly and efficient, with decor and ambiance being tasteful and understated. Although mid week, the restaurant was packed, undoubtedly attesting to Gallagher's popularity in the area, but resulting in an extremely loud and lively dining experience.

So we had reservations for a later time but they seated us even arriving an hour early. I have heard so much about this place and the "melt in your mouth steaks" I had to try it and we had saved up some money to give it a try. I will say our server Jenny was top notch and amazing! She was there to wait on us but not overbearing allowing us to spend quality time at the table while enjoying the wine and food. We ordered a bottle of King Estate Pinot and it was amazing and then ordered the BBQ Short Ribs - WOW make me a tray of those and I that is all I will need! We also ordered a Rib Eye (Medium) and a Cowboy Steak (Ribeye with bone in - Medium) and some side (Spinach Dip, Baked Potato and Bacon Brussels Sprouts). The Short Ribs were so good and my expecting was up for the rest of the meal on this first visit, the steaks come out on a hot sizzling plate and that is a fun experience but then from there to be honest the meal fell flat for both myself and my wife. The sides did not taste as good as the menu worded them to be as I didn't really get the bacon in the Brussels. The Cowboy steak failed to render the fat in the steak and I ended up cutting off a lot of inedible fat and grizzle and for a $53.00 steak "al la carte" I did not expect this. My wife and I switched plates and I tried her $38.00 Ribeye and it was dry (cooked medium, but lacked moisture). Based upon service I would return but I think I would order 24 plates of those short ribs.

I took my husband here for his birthday dinner and we enjoyed the food and our server, along with a couple of young workers that bussed our table. The restaurant was clean and had a warm feel. We were greeted when we arrived and was seated quickly. I actually made reservations on Open Table and requested a seat on the bar side of the restaurant and we were seated as my request. Our server, Brett (I think he said Brett or it could have been Brent) was very friendly and attentive. Great customer service skills. He was funny as well. We enjoyed his presence. The food was excellent! We had the trio appetizer, the veal chop, the lamb chops, the Brussel sprouts and the sweet potatoes. Everything was prepared to perfection! The meats were tender and seasoned perfectly. The bread was good and warm also. The server gave my husband a birthday dessert which was nice. They do have credit vs cash payments so if you want the lesser price, bring cash

Highly Recommend! Great atmosphere, excellent food and very attentive service. The soft-shell crab over pasta was amazing. Seared tuna was delicious, and the bone-on filet was beautiful. Parking can be difficult, but everything else is wonderful.

I doubted the food at first since I'm a picky eater.. but this food is awesome. I got the stuffed chicken which was stuffed with cheese. It was delicious. I got a baked Mac n cheese on the side which was so good. Also the setting is very nice. There is subtle music that fills the silence.

This is my first time in Covington. I am a foodie and always knew LA had some great food. Today confirmed that i have been missing out for 45 years. I ordered the Redfish Couvillion. This is a cajan inspired dish with blackened redfish, shrimp and crawfish over creole tomato sauce rice. I loved it!! I also had the turtle soup which was fantastic!!

Staff was super friendly and very knowledgable about local fare. The blackened Redfish Couvillon was simply amazing with the perfect amount of spice, and the fish itself was tender yet firm, undeniably fresh. I got the Macque Choux side and it was genuinely one of the best corn dishes I've ever had. It was buttery and sweet! This place is well worth the trip over the Causeway.

We arrived on a Friday night without reservations and waited about 30-40 minutes for a table. First, we got a drink by the bar and stood around. Then when seats opened up at the bar, we sat there and ordered two appetizers. Before ordering, I asked one of the bartenders if something was gluten free and she came back with a sheet of paper labeled GLUTEN listing about 25-30 things that were gluten free such as dressings, jambalaya, and egg rolls (which we found out later they are NOT gluten free). I have a picture but I won't share it so that no one is deceived. A few minutes after ordering, we were buzzed that we had moved up the waiting list and to check in. My husband checked in and came to tell me to go to the hostess stand because they are ready to seat us. He went to let the bartender know to send our two appetizers to our table. When I got to the hostess stand, the hostess said that we already had been seated and to just walk upstairs. Even after I explained we had not gotten seated yet because my husband had just checked in, she instructed my party to simply head upstairs and just turn right. We walked upstairs and found a table we assumed we should sit ate. Then when my husband arrived, he went to look for menus because we didn't have any. Ava came by to greet us as our two appetizers of Sauteed Crab Claws and Boudin Egg Rolls arrived. Ava was really friendly and personable. I was so happy the sheet had indicated they are gluten free. I ate half an egg roll and started to suspect it was not gluten free. I flagged down Ava and asked and she said she was pretty sure they were not gluten free. Ava came back to apologize that the egg rolls had been changed and were no longer gluten free, and then are gave me an updated "2026 Gluten-Free Allergy Menu" with a subheader "All items listed are SAFE for you to eat." The egg rolls were no longer listed. For my entree, I ordered the Charbroiled Catfish served over spinach. It came with a salad and apparently a side. I thought my spinach was the side so I didn't ask about my side options and Ava didn't ask me what I wanted as a side. I had a side mixed green salad with no croutons. Surprisingly, everyone's side mixed green salad looked different when they arrived. Mine had croutons. Another had cheese on their mixed greens while another person was served iceberg lettuce. It was very strange. My catfish arrived with French Fries which are not gluten free. I flagged down another waitress who had checked in on us earlier to explain that I wasn't offered a side and that I couldn't eat the French Fries. I asked for cooked veggies and she brought me cauliflower. I thoroughly enjoyed my catfish and cauliflower. Others are the table had the Seafood Lasagna, Seafood Pasta, Charbroiled Oysters, and Crawfish Etouffee. Everyone liked their dishes. The portions are really big. The meal would've been much better if they were better trained on how to handle food allergies. And what the hostess did was not customer friendly at all. We learned from the second server that Ava was in training. Ava did a good job as she was really friendly, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care. I don't think she understood what a gluten allergy was but she followed up when asked to check on the egg rolls.

As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember by grandfather from New Iberia coming to visit frequently. I have a lot of fond memories from his visits, but one of the things I remember is applicable to this review. Whenever he would arrive he would have several gifts for the family. I'm not talking about traditional gifts either. He would bring several packs of boudin and hogs head cheese from a local New Iberia shop. That must have had a lasting effect, because since then, I am on a never ending quest for good boudin and head cheese. I was on such a quest just the other day when I noticed Boudreaux's. The moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. There were coolers filled with stuffed chickens, roasts, pork loins, gumbo, étouffée and all other sorts of Cajun delights. In the fresh counter is where I focused my attention and will elaborate on a few items. Boudin - fresh, homemade and with the perfect combination of meat and rice. It had a slight kick, but not to overwhelming. Stuffed chicken thighs - stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. $375 for around 30 minutes covered and 20 uncovered. Oh my goodness gracious was this delicious. Even if you don't normally like thighs, I strongly recommend this item. Smoked boudin - I don't remember smoked boudin when I was growing up, but what a great idea. Boudreaux's version was perfect. Smoked sausage with pepper jack cheese - whatever you do, but some of this sausage. The sausage is made and smoked in house and this is, without a doubt, the best smoked sausage I've ever had. I don't know how it hod hold up in gumbo or some other dish, but it is amazing on its own. The people working behind the counter were friendly and very helpful. If you're like me and miss the Cajun butcher shops of Acadiana, I recommend you take a trip to Boudreaux's.
