The tacos did not disappoint as they are perfectly battered and topped with all the veggie toppings. It gives sports bar vibes, but intimate enough to feel homie. Parking can be tough since it's on 2nd street, so I suggest parking in the neighborhood.

He double checked a 2nd time letting them know it was important and they again confirmed no dairy. When he got the rice he took one bite and he thought it tasted like it may have butter he asked again saying "this tastes like it has butter." The employee assured him saying there was no butter. My son was very hungry and so he decided to trust them and ate most of the rice cup. He started feeling sick within minutes and went up a fourth time to ask them. At that point, the employee asked the cook who informed them that butter was used. My son had been dealing with health issues the last two days due to his severe allergy. He is having difficulty breathing, in addition to all the other symptoms that come from dairy allergy. It's very sad to see him in pain knowing the restaurant did not take his allergy seriously and misinformed him. To the owners and staff members please take food allergies seriously. I inner stand people make mistakes. I hope that my son's pain will cause the restaurant to change its policy to take food allergies seriously and that the next person won't suffer. Black people and other ethnicities beside white -- be careful! This establishment allows "skinheads" as regular patrons. How do I know they were skinheads? Well if people profile "gangsters" and "cholos", there's a profile for a "skinhead". My boyfriend (who is black) and I recently (3 nights ago) went to this bar for a date night. We were hoping for a relaxing pub atmosphere. We ordered a pitcher of beer, and enjoyed open mic night. We were engaging only with ourselves since it was a date night. We left to the outside patio to have a smoke. I've seen this place packed before, and it wasn't like that, but everyone was centralized towards the entrance way (stupid) so we managed to squeeze through that crowd and got to the corner of the patio. Again, we engaged with ourselves unless someone approached us. After a couple of beers, it's natural to need to use the bathroom. So my boyfriend excused himself to the restroom. I continued to wait out in the patio. A creepy guy and I locked eyes (average looking guy) but the way he stared at me gave me an uneasy feeling. Ten seconds later, the bouncer is running towards the bathroom. I go towards the bathroom with great concern and I see the bouncer with my boyfriend. I know my boyfriend as the most passive person ever. I've seen him get called the n word, and I react with anger while he tells me to ignore it. I've had plenty of drinks with him to know he's not a dickhead when he drinks. And we only had 2 beers!!! Of course I didn't jump to the conclusion this was race related until I saw the guy who attacked him while he tried to use the bathroom. Clean shaven, almost bic'd blonde hair, bomber jacket, white, and a friend that had the same hairstyle and dress attire. Tell me why the staff surround my boyfriend (who wasn't wailing or attempting to fight) but not the asshole who needed his friends to hold him down because I have never in my life saw so much HATE in someone's eyes for someone they don't even know??? Then staff tells US to leave and that creepy guy who gave me an uneasy feeling told us we were assholes as we left. My boyfriend felt that the bouncer who was black was doing it out of our safety. Granted, my boyfriend called the guy an asshole after being attacked but didn't even fight back. I think that was at least appropriate after being assaulted for using a bathroom. Concerned family members came to this establishment the next day. The manager was unconcerned. Asking why they thought this was a "hate crime" and " we have a black bouncer" so we're totally cool with black people. We will never come back to this establishment again. We figure filing a police report is necessary but we don't have the name, but at least we can leave this review as some form of accountability. If not for the racist prick who did this, but for the establishment that allowed this type of behavior to be accepted. I have filed this as anonymous for a concern for our safety. read more

I've been here lots of times. The first time was six years ago when I was moving to Long Beach. I took time out of my apartment hunting to grab dinner - and it was great! The food was well made, fresh and well presented. I was actually really excited when I found a place to live exactly a mile away door-to-door. But every time I would go there over the years it was somehow worse every time. I'm guessing that Gallagher's is either under new ownership or has become so badly managed over the years that nobody working there gives a shit. Or both. I stopped in for dinner this last time and ordered a veggie burger - which had previously been quite good. What I was served was so awful that It warranted a picture and a yelp review. I ordered a veggie burger with jalapeño on it, and fries. The plate that arrived had, and I counted, 15 french fries. I figured that I didn't need the calories, so I'd just consider it portion control. I poured ketchup onto my plate, dunked my burger into it and took a bite. The taste was so disgusting that I spit it out, then unwrapped the burger from its decorative paper wrapper to inspect it. What I was served was a moldy, freezer burned veggie patty, topped with sour brown guacamole and a sliced jalapeño pepper that too had rot on it topped with a stale, burned bun. I had dunked this disgusting puck of shit into ketchup that had been rebottled from one dirty ketchup bottle to the next so many times that it was actually fermenting. When the server stopped by to ask how everything was, I said "horrible." She smiled and kept going. I can't blame her for that, a lot of people say that the food is horrible - especially when they've cleaned their plate. Anyone who has ever waited tables knows that everyone seems to think that they're witty and original when they say that for some reason, but I was absolutely serious. In my adult life I've sent food back maybe five times. I always worked in restaurants and didn't want to be "that guy." But this was disgusting! So bad that it actually deserves more than a yelp review, it deserves a health inspection. The server was kind enough to take it off my bill. I left and walked to the other side of town and got a great meal at Beachwood. It's a day later and I can still taste that fermented ketchup sizzling in the back of my throat like carbonated horse shit. read more

My friends and I usually go here thursdays through saturdays after work to get some drinks and have a good time. We love this place because of the staff, the food, the drinks, and the eclectic crowd. You meet the most interesting people. In one night I met a professional skateboarder completely covered in tattoos and minutes later an older gentleman that has lived in long beach his whole life and knew some interesting history of this fine city. You get anywhere from early twentys to seventys. From Tattoos to suits. What I love is that no one judges and everyone is here to have a good time and listen to some good life stories. But here is the real reason for the review. This past St. Patricks day was my first time attending Gallaghers' legendary Party. Let me tell you...I was not let down. My friends and some neighbors of mine were hyping this place up! and it exceeded my expectations. I met some friends around 11am, just in time to get some breakfast. It was delicious...some potatoes (obviously), eggs, and irish bread. Of course I had to wash my breakast down with some good ol' Guiness. The waitresses were fantastic. They had the best get-ups I have ever seen. Green all the way from head to toe! I was here all day and all night, and enjoyed every minute of it. Throughout the entire day I would call friends and family and let them know where they needed to be to have a good time. Most of them showed up and loved it. We could not have picked a better spot! What a nice surprise to find this little gem of a Irish Pub in Long Beach California!!!! Having just returned from a winter break in Ireland (hanging out in Pubs cause its to cold and wet) I was starting to have real beer withdrawls when a friend mentiond Gallagher's on Broardway. I was sceptical at first being somewhat of an officianado on pubs in general. Well that was about two weeks ago and now I'm somewhat of a regular. The staff are fantastic.....you can always tell a good pub when most of the staff that work there go there when they arn't working. I also found out that the Family that own's Gallaghers (The Gallaghers) are from Ireland, I guess thats where the true Irish vibe comes from. There is usually entertainment on the weekends, which includes some of the best Irish and alternative bands in the area. If you are feeling brainy and you and a few friends fancy a fun night out, Wednesday night is Pub quiz . This is basically a trivia quiz with small teams and some serious prizes......last week was well over $200!!! Not a bad pay off four a few hours of fun. The food is some of the best Irish food I have had outside of Ireland. I reccomend the Shepards Pie, and the Chips and Fish.....really superb. Oh I forgot about the prime rib....it is so tender it just melts in your mouth. This review is making me hungry. Enjoy! read more

Gallaghers is a bar I go to when I need a good drink and have some good conversations with..what I believe to be a good crowd. Definitely a mix of ages...appearances...and walks of life. This past St.. Patricks Day was my first off work, and my first at this Pub. Of course my choice was Gallaghers. I got there at 9:00am. Not crowded yet...but it was growing rather rapidly. I had an irish breakfast with a some friends, and it was amazing. So far the day started nicely. By the time my friends and I were done...the drinks started. At this time the place was getting crowded. It was to the point where you couldnt move too much, but let me tell you...who ever you bumped into had a smile on there face and a cheers waiting for you. Our waitress was always there making sure our cups were full. The guy in the giant leprachaun costume was always passing by, giving hi-fives...and entertaining everyone. The bartenders were having a blast! At the end of the night, the place was still crowded. But even as crowded as It was, I never had to wait for more than a couple minutes for a drink. I will never forget the great experience I had here (even though I probably should...seeing as how I was drinking from 9am to 2am...oh well :) I have to say that Gallaghers is going to be the only place I'll be going to when it comes to....well....anyday! read more

I have been a server at Gallagher's from day one (Sept 2005), and I would not still be there if I didn't love where I work. Sure, there were definitely growing pains in the beginning, but the only way we've gotten better, and can continue to improve, is by customer feedback. I almost guarentee that the mass majority of these 1 and 2 star reviews were never brought to the attention of the server or management during that visit. The last thing I want is for any patron to leave disappointed, angry, or completely unsatisfied... we are always striving to do and be better, so if there is something wrong with the quality of your food, service, or overall visit to Gallagher's, ask to speak with a manager so we can work together to fix the issue immediately. I hope all you Yelpers out there hear and understand where I am coming from... you guys are what make my job fun and new each shift, so let's make sure each visit is also the best visit, every time. -Devin read more

Gallagher's, what can you not say about it? I have been going there since it opened in 2005 and is one of the best places in Long Beach. It is a great place to meet all kinds of people and there are many different events on most nights of the week, including live music regularly. Check out Thirsty Thursday with $8 pitchers & Karaoke. Or Pub Quiz night on Wednesday which is great fun. Tuesdays has 2 for 1 on burgers and Sunday has $5 Mimosa mornings. So there are many great deals on and the food is great. You could even just go there to watch the game as there are many screens available with all sports. There is also a great selection of import & domestic beers and the place has an authentic Irish feel to it and service is top class (the owner Ciaran is from Derry and he and Erin are the perfect hosts). Personally I have met many great friends in Gallaghers and had some great times. So with St. Patrick's Day on its way you should check it out. read more

Gallagher's is simply the best bar in Long Beach. Not the best Irish pub but the best bar. I don't know many places in Long Beach that have live music every Friday and Saturday consistently. Even if it's a slow night the band picks things up. The burgers are excellent and so is every sandwhich they serve. The atmosphere is very pleasant all of the time with freindly people and staff. The selection of beers is good and drinks are outstanding. Todd and Erin are my favorite bartenders. Jocelyn and Lydia are my favorite servers. Perhaps the thing I like the most about Gallagher's is that huge patio. I like to smoke when I'm drinking and enjoy stepping outside for a cigarette. Sunday football is the best I know in Long Beach and Wednesday night Pub Quiz is a lot of fun. Something to help you get over the hump. Try it out some time, I did and haven't left. read more

I love this place for the atmosphere, they have a bunch of TV's so I can watch all of my favorite sporting events. For Monday night football they have great deals 2 for 1 drink specials during the game and a bacon burger for only $6. I like the atmosphere drinks and food, but I only give it three stars because the service wasn't the greatest. Usually its not a problem but when it gets busy it is almost impossible to find a server for any assistance at all. I continuously found myself walking to the bar to order my drinks. Once the server finally showed up we already had drinks and she thought another server had been taking care of us the whole time. Clearly a problem with communication among the staff. This is only a small problem that aggravated my friends more than me, but other than that it was a great experience. I will be back to wath my games. read more

Ever been forced to listen to a car alarm and wondered to yourself, who arms a car alarm and doesn't shut it off? Well, I'll tell you who: The people who hang out a Gallagher's. Some "regular" set off his car alarm for the neighborhood to hear to celebrate a football game, and then didn't understand why anyone would think it was annoying. To make matters worse, the staff knew it was him and thought the people in the neighborhood wouldn't mind listening to the Honk Honk Honk, because they're obviously just as stupid as they're customers. Every time I've been there I've wondered why I go. Obviously, it's because it's close. But no more. I can't wait until that dump goes out of business and the staff and "regulars" have to go back to OC. read more

As many bars that I have frequented, there is no other place I enjoy going to other than Gallaghers. The service is fantastic, every waitress I have had has had a full beer in front of me without a wait - the food is very good - but most of all the experience is always fun and welcoming. Every time i have gone to visit i meet someone new who has become a good friend and someone I know that I can have a pint with some good conversation. Considering all the different Irish Pubs I enjoy to try out, I find myself always wanting to go back to Gallaghers for some phenomenal Shepherds Pie and good company. My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out after hearing about it. The service was marginal, the bar tender, on a good day, could be a bitch, however the food did save it a little. We ordered burgers. They were good. I watched an order of wings come out (at least I think they were) and they were so small.....well anyway, the food was priced a little high, but that was OK. The drinks were too high for our liking. Will we go back there again? Maybe, but probably not. Sorry, not our cup of tea here. We like O'Connell's the best. read more

Great Atmosphere and Outstanding Service! I always make it a point to stop by this bar whenever I'm in town. The vibe is awesome--especially during football season when the energy really picks up! The service is consistently top-notch, and the staff is both fun and friendly. Ari has been our server several times, and she's fantastic! She's always attentive, brings out the food hot and fast, and makes sure we're well taken care of. Overall, it's a great all-around experience every time. Highly recommend! read more

I have been going to Gallagher's since they opened and I have to say, I don't know how anyone could have a bad thing to say about this neighborhood pub -especially lately!! I am always greeted with a smile, followed by tasty drinks, delicious food, and awesome service. I love the Thursday night karaoke, weekend bottomless mimosas, and Friday super happy hour -- $1 well drinks, seriousslyyyy??!! We had dinner and drinks here and their burgers tasted fabulous and their turkey wrap was filling and also had great taste!! The mixed drink I had was a little weak, I could taste more juice than rum. I didn't catch the name of the band that was playing but they were pretty decent, even though I'm not into ska. Pretty cool spot, I've been in a couple times with friends but this was our first Wednesday night appearance. Really fun pub quiz that gets the whole bar invovled. Service was excellent even with a packed house, our server frequently checked on us and made sure our glasses were always full! Food was pretty good as well, nice variety on the menu. Gallaghers Long Beach is the greatest pub in the world. Being a local in the neighborhood its great to have this place walking distance from my house. The food is amazing definitely try the burgers two for one on Tuesdays but if your in the mood the Irish fare is amazing also. I had such a great experience thanks to William behind the bar. He was incredibly sweet, attentive, and really made me feel welcome. On top of being an excellent bartender, he also gave me some food suggestions that were spot-on and made my visit even better. The bartenders Evan and Britney were very nice and looked after me and everyone else I came up to the bar for beers, always asking if they wanted their beer green. Their food selection on that day was tremendously great. I had the corned beef on wheat bread and it was toast, toasted wheat bread to boot. With a cheese, and everything else that came with it, I was happily pleased with it all. Especially the carrot that tasted like pickled because it was laying on one. I will never forget that taste that I enjoyed so much on that day. The prices for beer are actually impressively cheap. I really have no complaints on this place and I think that what they do to get people's names on the wall for drinking 70 different beers from all around the world is really cool. I might have to try it one day. Thanks to all the people at Murphy's for putting on a great St. Patrick's Day for this fan. Oh, and by the way, they make such good popcorn. I used to have it at a different bar as a kid and then brought me back to those days.

We kept telling them to leave us alone while the bar and security did NOTHING. At one point a man WOULD NOT leave us alone, so I started talking over him repeating the phrase "leave us alone, leave us alone." Finally, he walked away. I started filming the men harassing me because i want to file a report. The male bartender working came over and asked why I was being so loud. When I explained why, he looked annoyed, and then he sent the female bartender over. She scolded me for being loud and filming, and then tried to grab the drink out of my hand. When I tried to stop her, she had a security guard come over, physically restrain me, and drag me out of the bar, throwing me into the alley, leaving my friend inside. I sustained neck and shoulder injuries as a result of this. I was never formally asked to leave. As I was being restrained and dragged out, the men who harrassed me, were yelling "drag the b---ch out." LADIES, THEY PROTECT PREDATORS AND HURT WOMEN. STAY AWAY. And yes... I will be taking legal action.
