We ordered the chips and gauc with tacos and seriously loved the tacos. The drinks were delicious and we ended up ordering another round with some more food so they definitely know how to keep in going with the great menu! Waitress was great and the indoor/outdoor seating was really nice as well. I wouldn't go here regularly because of the price but it's a great place to visit on occasion! read more

Service was horrible, we waited over an hour for our food. Never was approached by any waitstaff without us flagging them down first. Food was good but not worth the insane wait and frustration dealing with horrendous staff. No communication if the kitchen was backed up, nothing was said. Will never be back. read more

Went for brunch (we were only offered the brunch menu). The menu was limited but had an interesting assortment... cocktails were great, food was really bland (especially the quinoa salad which had no flavor at all). Service was friendly enough but slow, considering they weren't very busy. Sounds like coming back for dinner / beer would be better, so I'll try again sometime. Setting is cool and beer selection looks great. Trivia night sounds like it would be fun, too. read more

This was my first time coming to Scituate, so my friends and I decided on this restaurant because it got great reviews! It was pretty busy; the hostess said it would be about a 45 minute wait. We all like beer so we decided to grab a drink first. The beer list is great! After more than an hour and a half we were seated and very hungry. Unfortunately, although we each got 2+ plates, we left feeling hungry. It was really hard to share the meals as well because there were like two chicken legs on one plate, one "soft taco-like" on another plate, etc. I got a cheese plate that only had a couple small pieces of cheese and the rest bread. It felt more like a bread plate than a cheese plate! But honestly the food was really good, I just think it was a little pricey for what you got. If you just want to go out for some beers and apps, this is your place!! read more

This place is pricey but worth it! A friend and I went for drinks and something light to eat. The place is very small so tables are tightly packed, but with one whole side of the restaurant open it still seemed airy. The other customers were all happy and friendly, so being so close together actually made it more fun! Staff was friendly and helpful. The White Galley Gria was delicious. We shared a Baby Greens Salad, Pulled Pork Potato Skins, and Fish Tacos (which I believe were a special). Everything was SO GOOD. I dream about those fish tacos! Tapas are a nice alternative to a big, heavy meal on a warm summer evening. You get a little taste of everything but don't leave feeling like you need to take a nap! read more

Love stopping into the galley when I'm in town. We went in this weekend, and they were celebrating their birthday ! The live music was perfect, it wasn't too loud, and the singer was very talented. The cocktails here and super fresh! (My fave is the blood orange margarita) we ordered a variety of their smalls plates, including tacos and sliders. The short rib tacos and sliders are magnificent. Dollar oysters 5-6. Need I say more. I will. The food is phenomenal. The drink selection is wide (especially the beers). The tapas are delicious, but on the pricey end. Either way a great place to socialize or start your night. A unique experience on the Harbor without a doubt. When they open the sliding doors its even better! read more

This is my first time ever writing a review but this restaurant compels me to do so! I was there this weekend labor day on Sunday afternoon and was so disappointed in our barmaid. She was unfriendly ,inattentive ,stoned faced and not once gave us a smile.this made us uncomfortable as we drink at the bar. Doesn't she know good tips are made because of your rapport with your customer. She was tall thin and had long blonde hair. Hope she reads this and will consider changing her attitude and make a better living. read more

We have discovered the galley and can't say we were more than pleasantly surprised. This is a wonderful restaurant from staff like Danny,Kate, Nicole who go out of their way to please. Asked for a coffee drink, Kate handmade the whipped cream with a bit of Baileys, Delicious! Good raw bar. Nice to actually see some shells from ME and WA. Great beer selection for south shore. Wife and I beat the crowd and were first ones standing at the bar. Told the bartender that we were waiting to eat at the bar and she gave our seats up multiple times to bud light non eating patrons. After 30mins of battling to get a seats, I had to bring back my glory days by throwing elbows and hovering over people as we waited for them to finish. The place has done everything right to mirror a "highland-kitchen" except for the inexperienced bartenders that allow meathead ways at the bar. All-in-all it's nice to see some up-to-date local gastro hit the south shore. Bout time. read more

We went over the Memorial Day weekend and it was fantastic! Met some great people who we ended up sharing food and drinks with. We had the oysters (very flavorful), duck legs, sweet potato fries with creamy garlic aioli, and pulled pork sliders. We sat at the bar, beer list was large, and Kate the bartender was super friendly, very attentive and knowledgeable. Loved the windows pulled all the way open, made for perfect summer ambience. Great spot for music and an eclectic snack/meal drinks are on the pricey end (makes the Backbay look like a bargain) but I go there a lot so must be worth it? If your in Scituate for the Summer definitely go to the Galley. As good and better than most in the city. read more

Merry Christmas? More like BAH HUMBUG! We were visiting the area for Christmas and made a call to Galley three weeks ahead, asking if they would be open Christmas Eve and could seat a table of 6. They said yes, no questions or hesitations about the reservation. Fast forward to Christmas Eve - we called ahead around 5pm as assurance to see if they could seat our party in thirty minutes. No problem - kitchen closes at 7. The hostess asked when we'd be in and we said "about a half hour, 5:30" and she said see you then. We got there right on the dot! The hostess told us they stopped seating at 5:30pm. We held up our phone and said, "well it's 5:31 and we called to make a reservation." She recalled the reservation and said "oh yeah... I didn't know this then." After this exchange, the hostess cowered back to the kitchen to grab someone else to communicate with us instead. A manager came out but did not acknowledge us. We then had a five minute EXTREMELY AWKWARD wait where we did not know our fate - will we be seated? Will we be fed? Will someone acknowledge us? The manager was setting up a table but no one told us if it was for us. Finally, we approached the hostess stand (now two teenagers) who refused to seat us and told us they had families to get home to! We were kicked to the curb on Christmas Eve with no food in sight. Horrible service, horrible atmosphere, and horrible staff!! read more

I would have given this two stars for the great service we got but I just can't. The food was HORRIBLE. We went here over the summer and were blown away by it. We decided to try it again for a long needed date night. It was awful. We got the Chourico nachos, oysters, and empanadas. The oysters were clearly not fresh and some still frozen. The chips they gave us with the nachos were stale. The empanadas were all crust there was no filling inside. It was suppose to be chourico filling. I can't believe we paid $70 for that crap. They boast an awesome beer list but I wasn't impressed. And a fly flew right into my husbands beer which at that point we asked for our bill and left quietly. I will be calling tomorrow and speaking to a manager to complain which we never do. We never even write these types of reviews. We had to cut date night short from being so sick after eating there! read more

I understand that ID has to be checked when purchasing alcohol and that out of state IDs could be fake. However I didn't expect the manager to take almost 15 minutes to do so. In this time he apparently had showed our IDs to another patron to see if he recognized my girlfriend who grew up in scituate. My girlfriend also saw him taking pictures of our IDs with his phone. I'm not entirely sure what any of this had to do with checking the authenticity of our licenses. He eventually came back to the table and informed us the program they use to check IDs was down but gave us our IDs back and said our glasses of wine would be on the way. By this time we noticed him slurring words and growing increasingly louder behind the bar. Both of us are bartenders and; completely understand the need to carefully check them as it puts him and the business liable but all of this seemed excessive. Younger tourists beware. read more

Place has good beer and the food is fine, but the "small plates" are garbage. $6 for 1 taco. $8 for 1 tiny empanada, $10 for 1 slider. Maybe I'm old school but I expect 2 of everything (at least) at tapas joint. I felt like I paid $70 bucks (2 beers included) for 7 bites of food. Not worth it. Go somewhere else, plenty of tapas places to pick from. read more

I saw a post about overcooked lamb chops and decided to throw my comments out there. I had a similar experience one week AFTER having perfectly cooked lamb chops that were juicy and tasty. My wife and I went there and ordered them because I was so impressed from my earlier experience. However, when they came out they were a tad thin and overcooked. When my server asked how everything was, I mentioned that I was a bit disappointed that the chops were overdone; everything else was great. Without blinking she went in the back and within 10 minutes the owner - who's a chef - presented us w/ perfectly cooked - medium rare - thick lamb chops. They were fantastic! We eat out a lot and this type of response rarely happens anymore. I'm a fan! read more

Our favorite restaurant on the South Shore! We come here every Sunday. Brunch Mimosas and Bloodys are amazing. We love the charcuterie and small plates. The bartender, Nicole is the absolute best. This place is awesome - we went at 5:00 on a Sunday, and it was packed - but, it's small, so it doesn't take much to be packed. The beer menu is extensive- they divide it up by cans, bottles, and drafts. We got a few plates to share - the mussels were average, nothing spectacular about them, but they were enormous mussels, and served with a LOT of broth and no bread to dip in it, which I thought was a little odd, but they were decent nonetheless. We got the grilled shrimp, which were delicious, and the smoked salmon rillette, which was oustanding. We also got a couple of oysters, and a couple of cheeses (the blue and a truffle cheese), which were served on a pretty little cheese plate with various spreads and bread. For dessert, we split the salted caramel chocolate cake of some sort, which was served in the tiniest little mason jar, and it was amazing. read more

They have the best BLT ever. It has so much bacon on it and the lettuce is very fresh. The garlic aioli adds great flavor. The bread is amazing too. The fish tacos are also very very good. The service is excellent. They are so friendly and will help you choose what you want to drink if you are overwhelmed by the beer list. read more
