    Chicken Milanese Panini
    Art T.

Disclaimer first. I work nearby, so the vast majority of my experiences here have been during lunch hours. I've done dinner here too, but that's pretty rare. So, maybe that should be part of the consideration with my review. Honestly, though? It's gone downhill somewhat over the past year or so. Our office still gets catered pizza lunches from them about once a month on average, and let me say... their pizza is great!! Even just their regular cheese pizza, though the Grandma's Pie might be my new favorite. The last two times I visited the restaurant for dine-in, though, I was very disappointed in my meal. In both cases, I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich; first it was the chicken parmesan and then recently it was the chicken Milanese. Both times, the chicken itself had very little flavor, if any! The toppings were fine, but there just wasn't anything to it, taste-wise. I was both surprised and underwhelmed. The bread they gave us to start was kind of stale. It was way too chewy to just be full of gluten. I wish the sandwiches were served on this type of bread, though, because they just use this ordinary soft regular sub roll, the kind you get at any supermarket. One naming complaint: they list their sandwiches as "panini." They are not. A panini should be grilled and pressed and served warm. These sandwiches are not grilled or pressed (see picture) and definitely not served warm. Just call them sandwiches, it's okay. The pepper shaker was empty. That's not really a huge deal, but it's indicative of a bigger issue... staffing. Or, cutting corners (standard tasks) because of a lack of time or personnel. One of the small side plates the brought to the table had a huge chip missing out of the side. Again, it's a minor thing by itself. But, many minor things add up to a bigger picture. Overall, though, it was a decent lunch (this last visit). Every restaurant has their ups and downs. Their pizza still hits the spot in my opinion, and the service was friendly and fast. We all had a good time, which at the end of the day is all you can ask for.

I've really enjoyed the pappardelle bolognese here! The portion size of it is also huge, and I have leftovers for days. It's my favorite dish on the menu. It's an elegant restaurant with lots of dining tables and bar seating. Lots of parking in the lot as well. I also went for V-day and they had a decent valentines menu! Only one of the dishes had bland food (I believe it was the steak and potatoes dish). The drinks were so pretty and sweet and the apps were delicious. I'll have to go back and try another dish on the menu to see what else I like from there.

Update 8/25- They seem to be back on the ball. We enjoyed the brussels this time. Our waiter told us we could have it prepared differently (off menu) as deep fried with bacon and chili sauce. Although the Mediterranean Insalate (Salad) is smaller than before, it's still very fresh and tastes good with blackened chicken. Hubby and U split a pizza, which had good flavor! Desserts are tasty. And they have really good drip coffee by Lavazza.

Gallianos is a shirt drive from the major shopping center in Maple Lawn. I had a little trouble finding it because there is no signage on the building. The restaurant is spacious and connected to a business office. They have seating at a bar with options to watch different games as well as more intimate seating options. My friend and I ordered their Arancini as an appetizer. I thought the crunchy exterior paired with the soft and tomatoey filling was perfect. I also had their spaghetti and signature meatball dish. I was a little confused when my dish came out because it was 4 meatballs rather than one 12oz meatball that was listed in the menu description. The meatballs were lacking some flavor, but the spaghetti was my ideal bite. Their sauce is pretty sweet, but I like it that way! I was very impressed by their wide menu options. I definitely want to go back and try more.

The atmosphere was beautiful and the music was a good volume/selection. Our server Todd was very nice. But, you're not here to hear about that- you want to hear about the food! It's a restaurant after all. Bread with olive oil was delicious and the margherita pizza was good, a bit saucy with mozz falling off but pretty typical. The main dishes gave us mixed feelings. The spaghetti with meatball (yes, it's just one big meatball) barely had any spaghetti which was really odd proportions. Branzino fish was mushy, it was probably frozen and didn't turn out well after defrosting. The penne alle vodka tasted great but the pasta was a little overcooked. Veal was a little tough. Broccolini was perfect. So you can see how there was good and bad. Not quite the Italian meal we wanted. TLDR: food was mid :(

    French onion soup

Galliano provides a lovely ambiance for a weekend lunch with friends. But service was very slow. It did not seem like it was too busy as we didn't have reservations and were able to be seated right away and it was not overcrowded the entire time we were there. We were a party of five but I will review the dishes that I ordered. We were told that they have French onion soup as a special that day. It's been such a cold winter that any soup sounded wonderful. For the entrees, we got chicken parm and shrimp and scallops with spinach. Unfortunately, our meals took over 30 minutes to arrive. I thought the soup would at least come sooner but it appeared only a few minutes before all of our entrees. It was still satisfying in a thin broth with lots of onions. It's always fun dangling the stringy cheese. I very much enjoyed the shrimp and scallops with spinach. It had a nice presentation and creamy sauce. The dish was warm but not hot so it was sitting for a while before being brought to the table. The other dish was the chicken parm and it was cold. We did not return it because we did not want any food wasted. Another friend did inform the restaurant that her side item was cold and they immediately brought more. Before leaving, someone in our party ordered additional items to go but there was a mistake in the order and it had to be prepared again. Though I think the servers were friendly, the restaurant missed the mark on the timeliness of our meals and the accuracy of the to-go order. Since our meals were brought to us so late, I think a quick check in from the server would have been nice or more bread or something as a kind gesture for the wait. I would really like to give this place another try. The location, atmosphere, and offerings in the menu beckons a revisit. And everyone deserves a second chance. Parking: Spaces in front and I believe I saw more spaces in the back if you're not inclined to parallel park. Noise level: Comfortable conversation level.

Popping into a local favorite restaurant. Today I enjoyed the cajun chicken tortellini pasta in Alfredo sauce with A Southern Connecticut drink. It was my first time eating tortellini. Pasta was cooked well. Alfredo sauce was filling but need some sale and pepper. I would have liked more of the cajun or blackened spices to come out flavor wise in the dish but overall, it was a great dish. The Southern connection is great drink for the spring and to open your pallet. It was lite, but not to fancy, but ended with a taste of Southern charm. Service is always fantastic. I look forward to my next visit.

    The delicious eggplant parmesan!

Introduction to Galiano on the January 2024 visit: I'm starting a photo series each month of 2024. Galliano is representing January 2024. There's a 1-star I've been dreading to write for a while that can represent April. But to get back to the positive topic of Galiano, I first tried this on Sunday, January 21 with a large Meetup group for dinner. After a crappy weekend where my car battery died on that Saturday, the coldest day of the Winter, derailed my Saturday late afternoon/evening and dealt with getting the new battery at place open on Sunday, which was like $400. That Sunday afternoon I somewhat redeemed the weekend with a movie, then dinner still on this bitterly cold night, then leaving dinner a bit early from the Meetup for another movie on my AMC A-List. Food & Experience in January: There are a few parallel parking spots in front, but the parking in the back is still close. The organizer of the Meetup recommended the crab bisque, Italian medley soup, & the eggplant parmesan as did a couple of others from the group, who had been there. The eggplant parmesan is awesome here! The Italian medley soup is solid too, but not quite as high of enthusiasm but very good. It has beef balls and little pasta pieces. The ambiance is nice table cloth with large windows and comfortable cool lighting. The server was cordial, but I remember he got a couple of people's orders mixed like who had what exactly. No major issue though, and it was a large group so could get confusing. Subsequent visits: I loved the eggplant parmesan so much that I wanted to revisit possibly for other items. I visited again in March, May, & June with my girlfriend with the catalyst as the Meetup. In March my girlfriend was relatively new at that point (I was still single on that January 21 visit). I told her about this Meetup & how great the food particularly the eggplant was. Unfortunately, the organizer of the Meetup had Covid, so we got a different organizer. So, she didn't get to meet him in early March but late March elsewhere instead. In March, we both got the crab bisque, I got a wine, she got a beer, and she got the eggplant I highly recommended, and I wanted to try something different...So, I got the chicken marsala. The Crab bisque was excellent too. Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed by chicken marsala though. We each tried each others' food and both agreed the eggplant was far superior. On the subsequent visits in May & June, we stuck with the eggplant parmesan since we know that's delicious. Other interesting note in June was the two people we were sitting directly across from, two people who hadn't met each other, both got salmon. Neither of them raved about the salmon saying it was ok. But I'm thinking salmon is weird choice for an Italian restaurant. Summary: Eggplant parmesan & crab bisque are the best two things to get. After having the chicken marsala, I'm a bit nervous to NOT get the eggplant parmesan as I feel like I'll be at least a little disappointed. Overall, Galiano has left a positive impression for service, ambiance, & food, but there's a couple areas where it fell a little short too.

    Pappardelle Bolognese
    Cynthia L.

Weeknight dinner. Complimentary bread and olive oil. This place is reminiscent of Mama Lucia's or somewhere along these lines for an American-Italian restaurant. Our waitress was great. My pappardelle was overcooked and excessively saucey. My jalapeño margarita was very much lacking in alcohol and the only thing spicy about it was a sliver end of a jalapeño they put on a skewer. I didn't step foot inside because we ate outside, but it looked spacious and there was a steady stream of people here during dinner. It's not authentic Italian and so long as you set your expectations right, you'll be ok.

    Shrimp Arugula
    Diana K.

I've recently been exploring spots out in the Maple Lawn area. Galliano was my second spot trying. Didn't go in with high expectations based on some of the reviews. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Nice and spacious, outdoor seating options, and overall good vibe. I grabbed a seat at the bar and was quickly greeted by Rose. She made me their traditional cosmo, which was perfect! All was great until the food came out. I ordered the shrimp arugula off their starters menu. All that could go wrong with this dish did. It was salty and the shrimp had some sort of coating on them that turned soggy in all the sauce. Then you have beans, arugula, and tomatoes all swinging in this sauce. It just didn't work for me. I love all those ingredients, but they did not come together well for this dish. They have some cool drink specials throughout the week, so I may try grabbing drinks and a pizza next time. Don't think I'll try anything beyond that.

    Brussels sprouts appetizer
    Rena E.

The food was good. I ordered Eggplant Parmigiana for my entree. We also had the Brussels Sprouts appetizer. The Brussels Sprouts were just okay for me. I would have preferred a little more caramelization and balsamic vinegar and less goat cheese. Without that kick from the vinegar against the creamy cheese, the cheese overwhelmed the dish flavorwise. It's a preference thing. Prior to the meal, the waiter brought some bread and herbed dipping oil to the table. The bread was not warm, but the bread with the dipping oil made up for the lack of warmth. The EP was delicious. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and the overall dish topped with tomato sauce and cheese made for a delightful main course. The EP featured a side of spaghetti that was also quite tasty. The portions were amazing. I did not each much because it was so late, but I was able to eat leftovers for two more days. The flavor actually got better with time. The ambiance was nice. I would have preferred not to sit in the middle of the restaurant, but it was okay. The table had already been reserved and the restaurant appeared to be filled to capacity. The lighting was nicely dimmed, but bright enough to see your food. Surprisingly, the noise level was pretty loud, but I guess that was to be expected with a full house. The service was fine. We were seated right away. The waiter was attentive refilling our glasses as needed and our food was served within a good amount of time considering the crowd. The manager came over to greet us, which was a nice touch. It was an overall good dinner and service experience.

Our event experience (paid ) came with a glass of wine for all our guests. The wine was just put on a table without any explanation of the wine , grapes, or legacy. I brought several things for a raffle including the mayor bottle of wine , 2 tastings, and a wine flight for myself. There was no education or discussion about wine. Next, I ordered food and drinks before our event started and I didn't get my food until an hour after I arrived. Next , the suya was so tough I almost choked on a piece of it. I think it's the only winery in Laurel so I definitely wanted to come and support. I first went to check it out and see what information I could get to reserve for a large party. It's kind of located in the cut of main st but there's plenty of street parking. Walk in and you'll see there are two settings. It's very welcoming and warm with beautiful decor and many seating on both sides. I explained to the gentleman what I wanted and he said it shouldn't be no problem just reach out to the events manager. It was a bit last minute, I sent an email on 9/22 to come on 9/28 at 5:30pm (had to confirm the number of people). Just to clarify, we spoke on the phone and email for communication of all information. I noticed they had an event that same day but it started earlier in the day and the events manager told me it should end before my guests arrive. I told her I was having 20 people total and I was ordering two charcuterie boards. Everything was confirmed and good to go as I thought. My guests were letting me know they were arriving but were seated in the smaller area. I was hoping by the time I got there it would be handled but no they already started ordering in the smaller area and the staff there said they were told only 10 people were suppose to come but I showed them the emails. The event they had ran longer than it should have which I wish I would have known just to let my guests know. The staff then tried to fix it but literally a whole hour and half later. Once we got in the event room, we had our charcuterie boards and others order their suya and jollof rice. They did not finish their food, it actually looked dry. Before the day, I was told my guests were not able to do flights but the day of they were able to order. I wanted to order some for the party but it's okay, we all figured out which wine we liked best and a couple bought bottles. To end it, the staff brought out a cute cupcake for my friends to wish me happy birthday. They have a speaker for you to connect if you want to play your own music. Other than that, we had fun. Regardless, I'm going to have fun. I recommend to go and have your own experience. I will definitely come back for a last minute date or just to pick up one of the wine bottles I liked.

I didn't try any pizza on during my visit but I will on my next visit. This place is a 5 start restaurant all day long....

Loved the decor and ambience ... from the fireplace, to the pizza oven in the middle of the restaurant, to the bar area with the televisions. Parking was also easy even on a Saturday. My daughter and I split a Romana salad; it's kind of like a Caesar salad. Good but had to ask for more dressing. I ordered the spaghetti Amatriciana, daughter got the chicken Limone, husband got Ravioli D'Aragosta. My spaghetti wasn't spicy at all (as was assumed since it had spicy Calabrian chilis), the burrata ball was huge and at first I didn't get it because it was cold while the rest of the dish was warm. Well when you mix it in the dish it was very good. I added some salt but after that it all came together. The other two dishes were also enjoyed at the table. Portions were generous, we had leftovers and the service was pretty good too. Would definitely come back!

We were really looking forward to this dinner, especially since it was a chance to catch up with…read morefriends we only see every few months. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short. The biggest issue across the board was the food--everything tasted bland. There was a noticeable lack of seasoning, and most dishes ended up tasting the same. I started with a Caesar salad, which was unusual with added tomatoes and other vegetables you don't typically see. While it was fine, it lacked flavor. For the main course, all four of us ordered pasta, and again, the same issue--very little taste. No one offered fresh Parmesan, which is something you'd normally expect with a pasta dish. Halfway through my meal, trying to improve the flavor, I asked for some Parmesan. I was genuinely surprised when the server told me it would cost an extra $1. It wasn't about the dollar--it was the principle. Charging extra for something as basic as Parmesan with pasta felt unreasonable. When we raised the concern, the manager confirmed this policy came directly from the owner. My advice: just include it in the price of the dish. Policies like that leave a bad impression and cost you repeat customers. Between the bland food and that moment, the experience turned from disappointing to frustrating. Sadly, this isn't a place we'll be returning to--and it's one we'll be warning others about.

So we drove a good 30mins to get here, with anticipation from seeing this restaurant on a travel channel, but the original location is in NY. We get there, and its plenty of free parking. We ask for seating for 3 and we are told they are only seating individuals who booked a reservation. Totally understandable considering its Valentine's day. I dropped the ball folks. I didn't make a reservation. So I noticed a bar lounge which we were told we could wait for a seat to open up. As we were waiting a coupled jumped in front us and took a seat. The manager Claudia came to the rescue like the dark knight but with more grace. She mentioned she was willing to put us on the list for a table in the main dining area. I accepted her kind gesture and continued to wait for bar lounge seating to open up. A couple was kind enough to come over to us and ask if we were waiting for bar lounge seating. They offered their table to us as they were ending their night. There was a 2 man band playing in the lounge area that was very soothing to the ear. As I tried to help my mother get comfortable at the hightop table, I noticed she was having a difficult time getting seated in such a high chair. Guess who came to the rescue, you guessed, Claudia! She's the best, 100 grand, made me a real fan. So she came over and said our table was ready if we wanted a booth seating and we all know that's the best seats in the house. All I could think is look at God. The wait wasn't even long either. 10 out of 10 for saving the day. In addition our waitress was such a sweetheart. I mentioned a white malbec I saw on the menu that I was astonish to see b/c I never knew of such a thing. She bought me a small glass to taste and my God, I am a true believer Jesus turned water into wine. Its so clear like water but the taste is amazing. The food is so delicious. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very personalable. Everyone cartered to us. You would have thought we were the Obamas or something. As we were stuffing our faces, Claudia comes around handing out roses to the men/boys to give to their dates. Complimenting my son and his daper outfit she hands him a rose and tells him to give it your mommy. At the moment he lights up with a big smile as if he paid for the rose himself. I can tell he felt like a gentleman and good that he could give his mother a red rose on Valentine's day. That small gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. I apologize for my essay, but they desired it. I love the service, the ambiance, the food, and service. I haven't seen my mother smile so much in a while. So it bought me great joy to give my mother this experience on Valentine's day. I thank Nonna Angela's staff for such a wonderful experience.

Menus and drink orders were brought promptly. I chose the fish tacos, and our server - Casey - asked if I wanted the fish pan seared or blackened. We had a discussion over how many chips and salsa were served with it, because my friend wanted some with his veggie burger. We learned that the amount with an entrée is just right - about two handfuls - so we each had some, with my friend's being a substitution for fries. I almost can't find the words to describe those tacos! The fish was moist, perfectly seasoned and generously heaped in each taco. Often, tacos lean heavily on the veg elements but these had just the right amount of slaw. The flavor of the fish was so delicate and savory. Honestly, one taco was all I could manage. Although they were street taco sized, it was so filling. I only ate a handful of chips; they were good but nothing special, as was the tiny cup of salsa. My friend said his veggie burger was excellent, and he enjoyed the bit of chips and salsa as well. He just had water, while I tried a Corona NA. The bill was around $56, which is very reasonable. There's plenty of free parking in the shopping center. Great service, good prices, excellent food - I'll go back!

The food is light and well seasoned without a lot of the heavy filler but portions are generous. Fresh ingredients prepared well and served with confidence.
