Decided to dry Decadent after attending a number of birthday parties where the cake came from there. Got the Cookies and Creme cake for two celebrations and every one loved it. The frosting was light and the cake was very moist. We later had the Snickerdoodle cake for my birthday and the cake was on the dry side so that experience was not so good. Their website has a list of all the cakes (with photos and detailed descriptions) and ordering online is really simple. There are a lot of tasty looking options. The cakes come in 6, 8 and 10 inches. We had all 3 sizes. For us 6 inch was good for 4-5 people, 8 inch for 5-8, and 10 inch is ~8-14 (and we had some left over afterwards). The cakes were always ready exactly when requested. They have slices of cake for sale but only for a subset of the cake options. They also have gelato. The interior of the shop is really nice. If we were closer I would like to try it for breakfast or coffee & desserts. The staff members are very friendly. Would definitely go back. read more

I just can't get on board with decadent. People in the community love it, but I honestly think it's because bakeries are few and far between in the area. I have had decadent a few times now and nothing I get is mind blowing. It's all standard, sometimes dry, and either over or under sugared. The desserts were fantastic! The chocolate chip cookie, cake and cupcake very fresh and tasty. The service however, not great. One girl prepared the order of people that came in after us and ignored our order, passed it on without any regards and then took the next people that came in and it took another employee to ask what the order sitting there was for. Awesome little coffee shop/bakery. My wife, who is addicted to starbucks chai, actually prefers this place. The lattes i usually get are pretty good, rather smooth and a bit acidic. The hot chocolate is the stand out drink though. For desserts, they are expensive, but the ones that hit are incredible. Neat little spot, really good desserts! Slices of cake are HUGE and they have a good variety of them available. We went here with some friends and got a hot beverage (OK) and a slice of cake each. We probably should have shared 2 pieces instead! But the cakes were delicious and were a good balance of frosting to cake. There are a LOT more desserts we'd like to try there. We stop by Decadent Coffee and Dessert Bar for a couple of breakfast sandwiches and coffees. We walked it to the small but bustling cafe and were greeted immediately by their friendly staff. I stopped by Decadent on my way back from a business meeting, looking for a place to grab coffee and finish some work. The interior gives Hipster Industrial meets Pinterest, if that makes sense. There's a good amount of seating both inside and outside, and the variety of tables and chairs makes it feel like they've put thought into accommodating all kinds of guests--whether you're catching up with a friend, studying, working remotely, or just relaxing. Two things I really appreciated: 1. They offer free WiFi, which is surprisingly rare these days. 2. They bring your drink to your table, a small but thoughtful touch that added to the experience. Service-wise, it was a bit underwhelming. I wasn't greeted until I said hello first, and I didn't get a thank you after placing my order. To be fair, the woman behind the counter was working solo at first--taking orders and making drinks. About 15 minutes later, a couple more staff members appeared, which helped ease the workload. I ordered an Iced Latte (w/ oat milk) and added vanilla. It was decent, but honestly tasted like something I could make at home with basic beans. That said, I appreciated that they didn't overcharge for the oat milk or syrup--though my total still came out to $7.44, which is more than I typically spend, even at higher-end places. The shop definitely gets busy, which surprised me. I'm curious to try some of their desserts next time, though I don't have much of a sweet tooth--so I'm not sure I'd come back just for that. read more

Stopped by Decadent this morning and was pleasantly surprised! - was expecting an average cafe, maybe some coffee and a croissant but got way more. I got the Nutella Belgian waffle, it was just the right amount of Nutella and the waffle was fluffy. Some fruit on top would've been magic! My friends got the avocado toast and croissant breakfast sandwich - both were great they said. Filling options with warm/fresh ingredients. Ok so, I was in need of a quick breakfast sweet treat and pick me up beverage, on the go and had heard positive feedback about this spot. Decadent was jam packed with a line out the door on a Spring Sunday morning, for good reason. I opted for an egg and cheese croissant sandwich and chai latte that were both worth the wait and also took a couple cookies and slice of cake with me I Intended to share with friends. Those treats did NOT make it to the sharing location. They in fact, barely made it out of my car lol. Decadent is exactly how I would describe the delicious German chocolate cake from this place. So last time I went, it was for breakfast and coffee and before that a full cake. This time my husband and I wanted to experience the dessert bar aspect so we went Saturday night after dinner. It was kind of busy, but we found a table no problem. My husband ordered a beer and I got the espresso martini. It would be extremely helpful if they had their specialty cocktails listed. We also got the cookie with icecream. My husband's beer was brought out with 1/3 of the glass full of foam. I just think if you are going to call yourself a bar, your workers should know how to properly pour draft beer as he paid for a full price beer and was missing a lot of it. The server spilt some of my espresso martini as she was bringing it to me as well. The cookie was very dry and it could have used more gelato. This is THE spot for local gatherings, rated as the most likely place to run into your neighbors. The owners are very involved and friendly. Desserts are top notch and so is the service. The most beautiful thing about this place is that it has both coffee AND alcohol so you can come here any time of day to get your decadence in. Me and my husband enjoy coffee dates and sometimes spice things up with an Irish coffee. I love having that option. Although I emphasize the alcohol, it's mostly food centric and very family friendly, with most people dropping by with their kids for treats, however some people stay to read or talk. read more

After finishing dinner elsewhere, I decided to hit up Decadent for dessert. Originally, my plan was to try their canoli, but that never happened. I was a little overwhelmed by all the delicious choices, and for a moment, I was slightly offended as I swear one of the staff whispered, "Bite me." I turned around, trying to figure out which one, and they kicked it up a notch, "Eat me!" Then I realised it was this amazing looking cake calling to me, and I had to have it. It was incredible, and though I couldn't finish the entire piece in one setting, I brought it home and finished it the next day -- still delicious. Popped in here on a whim before hitting up the groceries nearby. I was pleasantly surprised to find this adorable, tidy, and welcoming place to sit with my partner and enjoy some morning pastries and coffee. I had the pecan sticky bun which was pleasantly sweet, moist and the chopped texture of the nuts made them easy to enjoy. My partner had the coffee cake which had good size portion and cinnamon was layered well so each bite had enough spice. Coffees we had were enjoyable as well. I loved this place. at one point... ***** update: Once a Favorite -- Now a Place I Can Never Return To I've been coming here for years. I've recommended this place to friends, neighbors, and clients. We've ordered custom cakes for the holidays, celebrated birthdays, brought out-of-town guests here -- this was our spot. Until today... I came in with my daughter, who has anaphylactic-level dairy allergies, and asked for strawberry sorbet -- the only thing on the menu that's usually safe for her. She noticed something was off, and sure enough: the same scoop had just been used for chocolate ice cream. I politely asked if there was chocolate in the sorbet. It wasnt a 'stray scoop', which would also have been enough to cause issues, and which is not how any establishment concerned with safety of their patrons should operate imho... But the strawberry sorbet looked like Deebos underpants from Friday... The first employee walked away mid-sentence and said someone else would take our drink order (we hadn't ordered any). The next employee, visibly indifferent, confirmed there was nothing they could do, and shrugged. Their manager finally confirmed the contamination, apologized -- but again, no real concern or action. This isn't about hurt feelings or customer service. This was a near medical emergency that we avoided only because my daughter was vigilant. This was negligence. We're not coming back. Not because I'm angry, but because I now understand that my family -- and others with serious dietary needs -- simply aren't safe here. It hurts to say this after years of loyalty, but I can't in good conscience recommend this place to anyone anymore. read more

I have been up to Maple Lawn so many times and never knew this place existed. Now that I know, I'll definitely be back! They have so many different options, including fresh baked cookies, brownies, a variety of cakes, breakfast items, coffee, tea, etc. it's also a very light and beautiful space that's very comfy as well. 10.16.22 I finally stopped by this three year award winning bakery/cafe. What a cool concept to have a dessert bar. I would choose a dessert bar over a salad, taco, or alcoholic bar any day. The desserts include cupcakes, cookies, cake slices, donuts, muffins, croissants, truffles, gelato, and much more. They also sell coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages. The wine and beer on tap are on their happy hour specials. I ordered the Southern Charm Croissant Breakfast sandwich, a Magic Bar, and Coconut Truffle. The croissant was flaky, scrambled eggs were fluffy, and bacon was crispy. Although it is a standard and common breakfast sandwich, it is by far the best one I've ever had. The Magic Bar was indeed decadent, but so delish heated. I ordered an orange soda and in hindsight it probably would have been better with milk or water to balance out the sweetness. I also purchased a coconut truffle, which was rich too. They had a steady stream of patrons coming and going the three hours I was there. Definitely a fan of this bar! After coming here a number more times over the last few months, I'm bumping up my rating for Decadent for a couple reasons: I believe cakes are probably where they shine because I've enjoyed some of their cakes since my original review, and they are well worth the calories! For instance, my last slice of cake was chocolate salted caramel cake, and it lived up to its name, truly having enough of those flavors, rather than just a hint. I don't always crave a chocolate cake, but when I do, it better be chocolatey. I've also really enjoyed their gingerbread slices and get some each visit lately, secretly relieved that they're not keeping it for just the holidays. I live in the community and have been to Decadent at least a half dozen times. The desserts are pretty good, the drinks are fine, but the service is very inconsistent. They tend to hire high school students, which is understandable, but it often results in a lack of attention to detail. About half the time, my coffee order is wrong and I have to go back in to get it fixed. On multiple occasions, I've seen staff just hanging out while people are waiting in line, not really paying attention. Management may claim there's an adult on staff, but I rarely see them. They must be in the back. I get that it's a local spot that supports younger workers before they head off to college, but I think management needs to invest more in training. If I'm in more of a hurry, I tend to just go to the Starbucks at Harris Teeter since I know they'll get my coffee order right and it'll be a whole lot faster. read more

This place is such an asset to Maple Lawn. Very nice people and great cakes! Our most recent cake was the German Chocolate cake and it was delicious. You could tell by looking at it that a lot of work went into making it. My daughter's friend had a nut allergy so, at our request they made it without nuts. It was great. But, to show me what it tasted like with nuts the owner gave us four cupcakes with nuts...for free. Such a nice gesture. Stumbled out of here after attempting a barre class next door and although a cortado wasn't on the menu, the gentleman working was more than happy to make it for me. What a treat!
