I came here for an early dinner with some coworkers. We sat outside and the local neighborhood cat, named pollo, joined us as well (our server told us he hangs out and sometimes lucks out getting some chicken). For my meal I had a house margarita and the New Mexica enchiladas. The margarita was great and cheap for happy hour. The enchiladas were solid as well. They had a good red sauce, weren't as spicy as I was hoping, but had some really good creme sauce on top to balance the red sauce. We had a good time and the weather was perfect for an outdoor meal. We brought some out of town visitors to Gallo Blanco yesterday evening raving about the food but unfortunately we were not able to eat there due to poor service. We were not greeted, the staff seemed too consumed with inserting their credit card tips then to even acknowledge us. Oh man. It's hard to use just words to describe how good Gallo Blanco was. The combination of location, venue, ambiance, staff, and food - all being REALLY GOOD - is just so rare to find! I and two friends arrived on a Saturday evening without reservations and got a table in the bar area right away. We'd heard about their good margaritas but waffled between the Gallo or La Flaca version. Knowing we would have more than one we decided to try the Gallo first, then swap - but it was so good that we had three each and never wavered. Homemade guacamole sprinkled with cojita cheese and served with a variety of delicious salsas and some pico - and they brought extra chips - was a wonderful start. We ordered a delicious (truly!) elote - made with grilled corn which gave a unique smoky flavor to the dish. You can have it on the cob - or cut off - and it was excellent. Ok - it maybe needed a tiny bit more mayo for extra "juiciness" but YUM! We decided to split two orders of Tacos Familias - each included six amazing (AMAZING!) homemade corn tortillas and two choices of protein - we had a pork roasted with red chili (spicy flavorful, not spicy hot), carne asada, shrimp, and barbacoa - they were all good - the shrimp and barbacoa were over the top delicious. We threw in a side order of frioles - and in spite of the 12 tortillas, we added another 6 - and ATE.THEM.ALL! Sublimely delicious! My friends are married - one (the main cook in their house) isn't a desert fan, so the other suffers from lack of such. Whenever we go out - or cook in - regardless of how full we are, desert is a must. We chose the Tres Leches, and while we waited the three of us discussed "juicy" cake (a pool of cream on the plate) vs drier. The non-desert friend was in favor of the latter - me and his hubby the former. We were delighted and mesmerized when a huge and JUICY piece of cake was served! I've had TL this good only once (thank you Ken Wills/Cave Vin/Minneapolis!) - it was scrumptious. Mr "I don't like desert" had three bites and agreed on how good it was. I'm watching my "girlish figure" so I had five bites. And he who rarely gets desert enjoyed the bulk of the cake. This was all of the combinations I noted in my first paragraph, but I'll add one more - given the quality and quantity of food, it was also pretty reasonable - the tab for all of the food and 8 margaritas was $153. Looking forward to going back again! HIGHLY recommended!! ‍ ADDENDUM: no changes in comments but a suggestion for improvement. We asked for crema for our tacos and were served a hard cold clump of sour cream. It's fairly easy to make crème fraiche or even buy good commercial crema. I mean, you make fantastic tortillas, why dumb them down with sour cream? It should be semi-liquid so you can drizzle it over those wonderful tacos! read more

This dip is incredible here. Perfect level of spicy. The cocktails are signature and the palomas are great. They have a cute patio for diners, as well as ample space inside. The food is Amazing except I don't recommend the tacos dorados. They are more like a chalupa and are very dry. Everything else tastes great. The service by their waitstaff is hit or miss. We've gone in 3 times. Two of the 3 waitresses were unenthusiastic and were not really checking on our table. The second time we went, the waitress was great. I wish I would have gotten her name. Had a photoshoot across the street and stopped in for brunch on a Sunday out of curiosity. Gallo Blanco did not disappoint! When we first got there around 10am, it was pretty quiet but filled up soon enough with tons of families waiting. Loved the cafe con horchata and my chulaquiles were BOMB! Hubs got the pozole rojo which he practically licked clean. He wasn't a huge fan of the cinnamon mocha, a little more bitter than he was expecting. Service was top notch! Super friendly staff and our server was awesome. He checked on us often and gave great recs. Even with the line of folks waiting building up, we never felt rushed. On a Thursday evening, this place was busy. We came here for the margaritas and they were fantastic. Getting a seat and situated was slow at first, as the people at the front kept asking us to wait for the host to seat us. After waiting a couple of minutes, with no one to show us where to seat, the front apologized and directed us to a table. They have outdoor seating, but we opted inside. The place is rather large, with two bar areas and lots of seating. They have an open kitchen, where they pump out some delicious tacos at a fast rate. So fast, that we got our carne asada tacos before we got our drinks. Carne asada tacos came with cilantro and onion and the salsa was spicy. Really good though? First, this salad the first time I got it was amazing. So I decided to get it again. I ordered the de la casa salad for takeout - my instructions include "no seeds - allergy." During our stay in Phoenix, this place was recommended by our host. We went for dinner & had margs & the family plate of tacos. Both were delicious. Guacamole was quite tasty too. Rarely do we visit the same restaurant during a trip, but wanted to try their breakfast. Sooooo glad we did. Enjoyed the breakfast even more than dinner. If you go for breakfast, the Chilaquiles will NOT disappoint. So yummy. And make sure someone in your party gets flapjacks. They were the best pancakes we've ever had. My first time back in approx 2 years. Unable to make an online reservation and also had to make 3 calls during the open hours to speak to an employee to make reservation. Their voice mail does not identify the restaurant. Hours for brunch on their own website are inconsistent. While this was inconvenient, I am more disappointed by the service & the food. There was only one other table when my guest and I were seated. We made our order & waited longer than I would expected for the food. My guest had pancakes, and she had no complaints. I had the "Mexican breakfast" two eggs w/ chorizo, beans, and a side of corn tortillas. I did not realized until writing this review that the corn tortillas were not served to me. I ordered the eggs over-medium, and they were over easy. My food was warm, not hot. The sausage was good, but otherwise, very uninspired meal. I asked twice for one refill of coffee. Even as the restaurant began to fill with patrons, it was not bustling. I will return to Gallo Blanco based on excellent service and food in past visits. You'll for sure need to leave room for dessert and have a piece of their tres leche cake, it's all you want out of a dessert. The only thing I could "complain" about is the service. Shrimp and Pork belly tacos are $4 extra. The shrimp is fine, it's seasoned well but nothing special. Pork belly pieces are dry, out of 4 pieces, one was not dry and chewy, and even the one piece was alright, still a little chewy and dry but not as bad as the others. Al pastor was the biggest sin, flavorless. Carne asada was the best and even then it was flavorful but once again, dry. Desserts were incredible though, tried one of each, something for everyone. definitely the best tres leches i've had, key lime tart was good but i personally am not a big fan, but i can see its appeal. churros were good, bread pudding was probably the worst but it wasn't bad by any means, just not my taste. read more

The biscuits and gravy here are utterly disgusting. I know that's not the specialty of such a restaurant but it's absolutely nuts to serve something that revolting for any reason. The hostess was sullen and sulked around the restaurant. Our server struggled to put together our orders and seemed generally inexperienced. The bartender was rude about serving 2 aperol spritz to a group of legal age adults. We had to approach our server to get our check after waiting an absurd amount of time and upon request to split our check she ignored us. I usually love this restaurant but the aura this time around was very uncomfortable and stifling. I'll have to think about coming back here :/ read more

Gallo Blanco continues to be one of my favorite spots for Mexican food in the valley. They're happy hour which is daily from 3 to 6 PM, has ridiculously delicious margaritas for five dollars and lots of other tasty treats for good prices too. Restaurant itself is very cute, with a very welcoming and friendly staff. The surrounding neighborhood it is in has some other really fun places to check out, including the little gift/plant store across the street such a great place and I will miss it when I return to Seattle. read more
