My family and I ate at this place last night and it was not good start to finish. The waitress was very nice I will say that, it's all downhill from there. We asked for water to start and we received it about 20 minutes later. We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 orders of wings (the wings are sold by the pound we were told, never heard of this). The food took a very long time to arrive. The pizza was decent the wings were awful. Greasy, way too big and somewhat undercooked. One of the worst parts of the experience was the guests at the bar. There were approximately 4-5 guys drinking and swearing very very loudly within complete earshot of all the diners and families. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said she was aware but that really there was nothing they could do about it. I believe that the patrons are from Lewiston so maybe they are "known" at the establishment. Either way it was very rude and inconsiderate to listen to and witness. So let's recap, bad food, way too long of a wait for the bad food and rude inconsiderate customers at the bar that apparently can not be told to leave or at least stop swearing so the entire restaurant can hear it. We definitely will not be back especially when there are so many good restaurants in Lewiston. read more

I called to order the margherita pizza, when I got there I had some time left to wait so I asked if they could do an order of the Bavarian pretzels, which they added. The pizza was bland and weak, hardly any mozzarella on it, the crust was very light and crispy, but overall not filling. The "homemade" beer cheese dipping sauce was more like the cheap "yellow" cheese you would expect to put on nachos out of an aluminum bag that was thinned down with beer. I was in town visiting family, and my brother suggested Gallo Coal Fired Kitchen . It was outstanding -- the food was delicious, the service attentive and friendly and the ambiance (a converted former gas station) was terrific. We shared the arugula salad -- which everyone loved -- and I tried the calamari which was light and delicious. A couple of us got pizza, my husband had the sausage and pepper sandwich and I tried the sausage and broccoli rabe pasta ( which our helpful server recommended). This was a great choice for a night out -- I look forward to my next visit! read more

We stopped here on a trip through Lewiston. We split a single serving of salad, which was enough for two people. The romaine tasted fresh, not bagged. We also split a specialty pizza, which was as advertised: "charred to perfection." The service was quick and not overbearing. We would definitely be back if we lived in the area! read more

Just tried Gallo Woodfire Grill for the first time tonight. It's been open a few months now. We were seated right away upon walking in. No wait for a table on a Saturday night at 8pm. No service for at least 5 minutes. Then Alexis came over to introduce herself. We ordered drinks,a salad and a pizza. The Gallo salad was disappointing and I only ate a few bites. Told Alexis after our pizza came to the table I wasn't impressed with the salad. However the pizza was good and we did finish it all. read more

My wife and I decided to try some craft wood fired pizza and we were not disappointed. The restaurant opened at 5 pm and we arrived at 5:15 and it was full. So we sat at the pizza bar. It was nice to chat with the pizza chefs and see them work the oven. The pizza takes about one and a half minutes to cook. The oven is very hot!! We ordered the Cabarnara pizza....not sure of the spelling...but it was very good. The crust was crisp yet had a softness that was pleasing. The flavor of the pizza was balanced with the char from the oven and the toppings made for a tasty mouthful. The Caesar salad was delicious. We split the salad.....just enough. The hardworking staff was busy filling the requests and needs of their patrons. We will return if we ever come up this way again from Buffalo. read more

Nice atmosphere, enjoyed the cocktails very much! The Moscow mule was one of the best I've tried. Staff is very pleasant. Food is so so, we got the stuffed peppers for an appetizer which were very good however we tried several pizzas and they were nothing special. The margarita pizza tasted like a frozen pizza to me, very bland sauce. I will return for the atmosphere and cocktails however the food is not worth the price read more

This is my new go to place for a night out with friends. The wait staff is amazing, and the food is also great. You truly cannot go wrong with a wood fired pizza, and Gallo is about as good as it gets. I also recommend the eggplant appetizer-which, consequently, is large enough to have as a meal. Their salads are also fresh and delicious. My two young sons also love their pizza-and believe me, they are pizza connoisseurs! Whether you're looking for a hip place to have a drink, or a delicious sit down meal, Gallo is the place. read more

We tried this place on a Saturday night around 8. Surprisingly empty in a packed Lewiston village. We were promptly seated and brought a bottle of water (nice) Good wine list and tap selection. They only offer baked wings with sauteed onions on the menu. No other options on the regular menu but they did have spicy chili wings as a nightly special. We tried pepperoni pizza with Italian sausage and cherry peppers. Surprisingly, the wings came out first. They were lightly breaded (?) and had a hint of lemon and fresh parsley. There were only 8 in this $12 order. Fortunately, they were quite good. they seemed fried, but the waitress verified that they were baked. In any case, well done! They were a bit bland, but the chicken itself was quite good. We devoured them as the pizza still had not arrived, which is very strange for a coal oven. When it did arrive, it had a modest char, less than I have ever had on a coal oven pizza but it was fine. Except for the peppers, the toppings were scarce with the sausage almost non-existent. With both of us looking, we found 2 small crumbs of sausage and maybe 4 pieces of pepperoni per slice. Additionally, the pizza was very small, maybe 13 inches. Not really enough for two adults if that was a;; they were having. With the smallish pizza costing $18 ($2 for each topping), you shouldn't have to search for the toppings. The crust was fine and dense with little rise, so if you like that type of crust, you will be happy. It was well done for that style. The decor was nice, but I can see how it gets loud when they are busy. So, I would likely go back for a draft or a glass of wine, but skip the pizza. The bowls of pasta they were bringing out to the other tables, looked very tempting, so I might return and try their pasta offerings. Our server was very pleasant and upbeat, another plus! read more

This is the first time I've eaten there, since it's only been open about 3 weeks. Our server, Kristiana, was wonderful-very attentive and friendly. We got there about 5 minutes after they opened and, at this point, they are open from 5-10 pm. My son and I shared 2 small plates, the eggplant and the fried meatballs. The eggplant was good but serving size was indeed small. The fried meatballs came with a tomato dipping sauce and on top of mixed greens with diced tomatoes and a vinaigrette. There were only 3 meatballs and, for the price, 4-5 would have been better. We ordered a plain cheese pizza. They only come in 1 size, have 8 slices and a thin crust. My son felt that it was bland and would order toppings next time. I liked it and the sauce tasted like real tomatoes and had a bit of a tartness to it. We both ordered dessert. I got the creme brûlée with raspberries. It was very creamy and good, but again, very small for the price. My son had a fudge brownie with Hibbards vanilla ice cream and homemade caramel sauce. Delicious and very rich! If the weather had been better, I would have chosen to sit outside as the inside got quite loud and crowded. read more
