The atmosphere and drinks were nice. It is reasonably priced, but the sauce was very runny. The ravioli I had an odd sweet flavor as well.

I don't normally eat at Italian restaurants because I'm Italian and I'm very particular. We went on a recommendation from Vinny (the bartender at The Giacomo Hotel). Granted, the restaurant is in the middle of the desolate town of Niagara Falls, NY (and I mean there's nothing around), but once you step into the restaurant, you know why they're still standing after 4 generations. It's like walking onto a set of Goodfellas so I knew right away that I wasn't going to be disappointed. Danielle, our server, is the granddaughter of the original owners. I believe her brother is the chef and they continue their grandparents legacy to this day. We ordered a caprese salad to start. Gnocchi with meatballs and Eggplant parm were the entrees both served with a simple (what I call Sunday) sauce. The food was impeccable!!! What I loved is that it was clean and fresh tasting. The eggplant was not overly breaded and fried - it was stacked like layers of lasagna. The gnocchi were perfect little potato pillows! Bravo to the family!! We found this place on a whim, what an awesome find! We had a fantastic experience with Alyssa as our server who made some great recommendations. The house salad dressing was SO good, don't miss the opportunity to try it! Of all the spots our family of four visited on both sides of Niagara Falls, Fortuna's was easily the most memorable. We were pleasantly surprised by how incredible the food was! The kids loved the calamari--and our amazing server even brought out a fresh batch when they noticed the first didn't quite meet their high kitchen standards. The kids' meals were spot on, my veal parm and my wife's eggplant parm were delicious, and the tiramisu was the perfect finish. It's clear they put a lot of love into their ingredients and history. First time I had the pleasure of eating at this historic Niagara Falls restaurant and was more than happy with my meal and the staff. The chicken parmigiana cutlet was by far the best I've had at any Italian restaurant. Huge portions with a side of spaghetti and a homemade sauce that was fantastic! The waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive to our needs as well. Come a little earlier for dinner on the weekend because it fills up fast. A nice atmosphere for a family dinner or a date night! Unfortunately, the only downside is the sketchy area around the restaurant. It's a shame. Bad area but great restaurant/food. An "isolated spot" for such a restaurant in downtown Niagara Falls USA, BUT actually a hidden gem! Looking at the area, it's just across the street from a children's park I've photographed previously! We were the first ones to dine tonight, though after we were served, the dam burst and the crowd flooded the dining area! Has a very large and spacious parking lot behind the building. Looks like it was just resurfaced too and equipped with a security camera! While eating and with a clear view of the children's park - Liberty Park - two NFPD police cars drove past with an interval of about 20 mins between the other! Really! Wife had her standard spaghetti and meatballs, while I enjoyed the Shrimp Scampi, and I lost count at 13 of how many shrimp were in the dish. The shrimp aren't just on top but even in and below the capellini!! I've had angel hair before, and this was just a weeee bit thicker. When we departed, the whole dining room seemed to be completely filled and with a good chatter that says everyone's having a great time, served by very attentive help! I ordered catering for my work's Christmas party. It was a lunch party, so it started at 11, so I ordered it for 11:30 pickup. It was not ready when I arrived- they even told me they forgot about the order. In return, they offered to deliver it once it was ready. At first I was told 20 minutes, then that turned to 30. The food ended up arriving almost an hour after it was supposed to be ready. I am a little disappointed they didn't offer any discounts or refunds, or throw in any extras or anything for the troubles- we still paid full price. That being said, the food was actually amazing. House salad with homemade dressing 10/10 Dressing was really good. Penne & Penne Parmigiana w/ homemade tomato sauce 9/10 The noodles could have use another minute, but the sauce was really good, and I liked the penne parm better just because I love cheese. Tortellini alfredo with Chicken, mushroom, broccoli and scallions 10/10 Good sauce. The chicken was cooked great, it was really good. Homemade Meatballs 10/10 Honestly probably the best meatballs I've ever had. They were so tender, soft, and delicious. We were staying at nearby hotel and the Yelp reviews on this restaurant and we decided to try it. Excellent Italian food! I had the fettuccine topped with oil and anchovy sauce, and it was delicious. My wife had a lasagna dish and she enjoyed it. I appreciate having real Italian food. Customer service was excellent. There is plenty of parking on the side of the restaurant. Italian cuisine off the chart! Authentic and delicious. My shrimp scampi was lemony and garlicky and and chock full of delicious tender shrimp on a bed of angel hair pasta. This must be one of the best scampi I've ever had! $27 on the special Lenten menu. My girlfriend enjoyed the greens and beans pasta. $20. Light and delicious, vegetarian, she said. Service was quick, polite and attentive. The ambience is traditional Italian. A little oldish - but nice. White tablecloth. Dim lighting. Comfortable. We went to Fortuna's for the first time last night. It was a lovely restaurant with white tablecloth and a very old school Italian fine dining vibe. The staff were all dressed formally and were very kind, efficient, friendly and attentive. We started off with cocktails and the Espresso Martini was excellent. The cocktail menu had many options. We received complimentary fresh bread with butter and dinner salad with our order. The house Italian dressing was on point. The bread was very fresh and tasted homemade. Our appetizer was baked eggplant and was delectable. I decided on the chicken piccata that came with pasta and it was very tasty. My only disappointment was I had hoped for more variety of desserts. I chose the Lemon crème pie to go which was just ok. This a great place and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend. read more

We love the dressing here. I was making a dinner and decided to order on the phone and pick up 3 side salads to accompany my meal. The girl on the phone then asked if I wanted cheese on them. I said sure and chose mozzarella from the choices she gave me. When I asked how much thr salads were she said 27.00. I thought that was high for 3 side salads, but thought they would be a decent size. When I picked up the order it came to 38.88. She didn't mention the additional 9.00 for the cheese! Tipped 2.00. So, $40.00 for 3 small salads that consisted of approx 2 cups of LETTUCE, 2 small cherry tomatoes and some cheese. And to make matters worse, only 2 tablespoons of dressing. The photos show how small they were. That is a 1 cup measure cup for size purposes. SO disappointed. If the portions had been larger, it wouldn't have been SO bad, but still. Fortuna's is the last man standing among Italian restaurants in Niagara Falls and for good reason. They're good at what they do, the food was excellent and the service was top notch. I was pretty disappointed this time around. We called the last week of November for catering for Christmas Eve. They said they were all booked with orders which I find very hard to believe. The only day to pick up was Sunday. Usually, I speak about this place in high regard but not so much anymore. We ended up just getting sauce and meatballs. The meatballs were very garlicky. I also think they changed the sauce recently as it was pretty watered down and thin. I've been going here since I was born. My mom and her parents were going here back in the late 60s/70s. I am extremely grateful to the restaurants owner for reaching out to me after my previous experience. I was asked to give them another consideration by visiting the restaurant and I was thoroughly impressed. The recognition of a customers displeasure and the desire to make it right is what makes any restaurant stand above the rest. I enjoyed the best veal parmigiana this side of the Atlantic. It was perfectly breaded and extremely tender. The cheese and sauce were well balanced and made the meal worth the second trip. And to wrap up the meal I was very pleased with their cannoli's, they were crisp and sweet with just the right amount of chocolate chips and no fruit. My server, Joslyn, was extremely courteous and always checked to make sure how the meal was going. I was extremely delighted to see a huge difference between my previous experience to what is was this time. The overall experience and the realization that the owner of this phenomenal restaurant does take the comments of their customers to heart is what all restaurants should be like. I am honored and humbled to be contacted by the owner to ensure my unfortunate experience was not overlooked. Our first time at this lovely historic restaurant and it was amazing. This is our last night in Niagara Falls and we wanted some real Italian food, Fortunas did not disappoint! I had the chicken cacciatore and spaghetti on the side, two people got the shrimp scampi, it had plenty of shrimp and tasty. The service was prompt and attentive. We also had an olive platter that was scrumptious. I always say a good dining experience begins with a good server. Our server Kayla, and her support staff were attentive, knowledgeable and very nice. This was our first time dining here. We will DEFINITELY be back. I have to be better about my Yelping as I forgot to get pics of the menu. It has a variety of choices and told the story of Fortuna from its beginning until now. For our meals, my wife ordered the veal parmigiana with a side of their homemade cheese raviolis. My wife loves the ravioli and sauce from the Como around the corner and considers them the benchmark by which all other sauces and raviolis in the area are compared. Suffice to say, she LOVED the red sauce here and enjoyed the raviolis. The cheese stuffing of the ravioli had a unique taste that was still very good but just slightly different than what she was expecting. The veal was lightly breaded and cooked just right with it still having a crunch to it even though it was covered in sauce and cheese. I had lasagna with a meatball and sausage. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Cheesy, saucy and meaty! Just the way I like my lasagna. Their red sauce is oh so good and my lasagna was covered in it! We finished with cannolis. 2 come to an order. Perfect for splitting. Crunchy shell and creamy filling. I'm not a cannoli connoisseur but it was rich an delicious. Fortuna is sort of a hidden gem in the Falls as it isn't located on a main strip but it's well worth the visit. I was last here 20 years ago. Took two of my children early after school yesterday. We had time and I wanted them to experience "old school" Italian. We were the first diners of the evening. The hostess, and the busser were nice. Our waitress, took care of her longtime friends, much better than us. Even though we ordered a lot more food. We never saw or was offered a specials menu. I asked for a bottle of San Peligrino sparkling water, and was brought a bottle of still water instead. I didn't say anything to our waitress because I didn't want to hurt her feelings, as I figured she was hard of hearing. I ordered caponata and greens and beans and what I thought would be a small loaf of cheesy garlic bread. Caponata was delicious. Bread for the table was very good. Beans and Greens were mushy any heavy and not very fresh, although the taste was okay. The $8 bread, was 4 slices of Italian toast with some melted cheese on it. It was a silly. I ordered veal Parmesan, my son ordered a steak, and my daughter ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The Veal Parmesan for $35 was a very small portion of flavorless, lightly breaded veal, with a very small amount of melted cheese on top, and a teeny side of spaghetti with bland red sauce. No taste! My sons steak was over cooked, but tasted good. My daughter thought her spaghetti was ok. Listen, for $175 I expect a much better dining experience. The atmosphere is wonderful, but the service and food quality were disappointing. I WISH it was better. I'm sure it does a wonderful business in its rugged neighborhood, but I didn't feel as if there was any love in the food. Maybe the specials were better? Alas, we will never know. read more

The service was really good and our waitress made the experience memorable. We gave her an incredible tip just for how she handled herself and what we could tell was a very stressful night. We watched very rude customer berate her and make her tear up but after, she pulled herself together, came to our table and shined. The food was good and well worth coming back for more. The only negative was they ran out of bread as we arrived so no bread and a couple things we wanted we could not order. Even with that, our waitress made the evening amazing and we will go back.
