The food is always great at this place. So on a Friday night during lent, we figured we needed reservations. At 6:30 when we arrived there was a couple and 2 tables with individuals, all waiting for food. Our waitress was wonderful. My husband ordered a beer, they were out of it. Then he ordered one of the fish specials..again they were out of it! We waited 40 minutes to get our food, which was quite tasty. My beer battered fish fry was as big as my arm. The waitress appreciated our patience and gave us 2 complimentary cheesecakes. But at 6:30 on a Friday when you have almost no clientele, how are you already out of the most popular beer and your fish special? 40 minutes is a long time to wait..what will you do when you actually have a crowd? Made a reservation for what I thought would be a nice romantic Italian dinner on the water. We were seated in a nearly empty dining room. We waited probably 10 minutes then finally got waited on for drinks. Ordered a Crown Mule Jewel which came with a moldy, brown dry-skinned lime on the rim. Disgusting...I complained-instead of replacing the drink with the foul lime I was given a shot glass full of limes(also not looking very fresh). We ordered the "soup of the day" Broccoli Cheddar and two pasta entrees. The soup took 30 mins to come and when I asked after about 25mins the waitress said "they're working on it". In the meantime a single woman comes in, sits down, orders and is already served. We were seated over 45 minutes for this bowl of canned crap. The pasta comes, so over done, like Al Dente left the building hours ago. It's basically a bowl of waaay overly sauced mush. The tomato sauce tasted like acidic jarred style. Had just landed in Buffalo and was looking for a place to get lunch and my father in law suggested Bella Vista and you didn't have to pay for parking if you are eating here (it's inside of a hotel). Once seated we looked over the menu. It's their lunch/dinner menu so plenty of options but it is a little limit if your looking for something that's on the lighter side. I saw they had a Blackened Grouper Sandwich so of course that's what I went with. I was a little pricy at $25 but we are in New York and not Florida so it's more work to get it up there. Once our food came out I will say the Grouper did smell fishy but it did taste fine and the blackening gave it a good amount of flavor. I will say I wasn't a fan of the Tropical Salsa ad probably had I little too much of it on there. I will say though the fries were great. Hot, crispy, and they were seasoned fries which are some of my favorite. I also tried Ashley's Riverside Club which was also just fine. The Maple Candied Bacon on the club is really what saved it. This is the restaurant in the Niagara Riverside Resort. We stopped here to eat along the river on a beautiful Saturday evening. The staff were all friendly and attentive. I ordered the barbecue brisket sandwich which comes with a choice of fries, Garden salad, or Caesar salad. I chose the Caesar salad which was large enough to share with my wife. The sandwich was loaded with frizzled onions and the beef was very tender. My wife ordered the Cajun corn Maque Choux, which was on the specials menu. This was a new dish to us. This had four large Cajun blackened shrimp over sweet corn with red peppers garlic and bacon. It had just the right amount of spice and was very good. The hostess was running back and forth hesitant to sit us down. We left as we realize we will not be seated. What a gem this restaurant is! It has the best view and patio. It tops all the canalside places I've been too. It has a dock for boaters and faces the north Grand Island Bridge. My husband and I enjoyed our last night of vacation at Bella Vista! The chimmichurri steak frites was amazing! The chocolate cake was fudgey and rich. What a experience, the restaurant is on the bottom floor of a nice hotel located next to the river, what a scenic view, fantastic. Let me first say the restaurant is really cozy and comfortable, the staff are so friendly, service is the tops . The menu is short and simple , our group had Salmon tacos , my fiancé had the Salmon plate and I had the English burger with a soft fried egg on top and lots of arugula and tomatoes and a sweet bacon , we also had a Tequila flight and Prosecco. Yes, Yes and Yes! Deliciously delicious food. We visited this restaurants for New years Eve, and it was so simple to make a reservation. When we arrived we were seated right away. The waitress was so knowledgeable in the food/ drink menu. She recommended a couple of drinks based on our preference that were exactly what we wanted. Our first dish was surprise pairing of sweet and savory that went so well together " The pork belly with gritz". Our main dishes were the white pizza and the steak. 5+ stars for both. The pizza was so delicious especially the dough!! The steak was so yummy with baked potatoes and brussel sprout! We enjoyed every single bite of it. This is a stylish restaurant. They have an excellent outdoor seating arrangement that over looks the Niagara River. The host set us up with a nice table after about a 10 minute wait in the cozy lounge. It got a tad breezy after a while and the staff had no problem accommodating us. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. This place is absolutely awful. The dining room looks like a roadside motel's breakfast room - scarcely spaced old cafeteria tables and chairs on dirty carpet with remnants of crusty stale food on it. When sat, a bus boy put a bottle of water and two glasses on our table and walked away without saying anything. Next, our server Emily greeted us with "Hey I'm your server Emily. I'm here because I'm your server." We asked how she was doing, and she responded "As good as I can be". When we told her we didn't want any drinks besides water, she walked away without serving our water from the bottle. So I poured it for us - enough for one small glass each. It was never refilled. I asked the server if the pasta was homemade because the menu referred to it as "hand rolled" and "fresh pasta". She said it wasn't. I asked if she can confirm. She came back and said "okay so I guess it is. I didn't know that." We ended up not getting pasta though. We decided instead to split a Caesar salad and pizza. I ordered the white pizza and asked to add pizza sauce and pepperoni to it. The server said yes. After a moment the server came back and told me that they couldn't add pizza sauce and pepperoni to the pizza. When I asked why, I was told "because they chef said those things don't go with the flavor profile of the other pizza toppings, so he won't do it." I asked if I could get the pizza sauce on the side to dip it into and she said yes. So I reluctantly said to give me a side of warmed sauce instead. At this point I want to point out the menu says you can add toppings for $2 each. In the moment, it baffled me that an establishment as dirty and crappy as this one could employ a chef that obviously must have a Michelin rated palette, but who knows...maybe he is between jobs. When the pizza came out, I soon discovered that wasn't the case. The pizza was awful. Like seriously the worst pizza I've ever eaten in my entire life, including all of the questionable frozen and cheap pizzas from college. I then asked for a side of warmed pepperoni to add to the pizza in the same way I was adding my sauce to it. The server rolled her eyes and walked away. When she returned she said that she could only give me uncooked pepperoni because they have no way of warming it up. I asked if there was a microwave or pan they could use. She said there wasn't. So I took the pepperoni cold. I want to point out that when she dropped off the warmed pizza sauce she told me to be careful because the dish was hot from being heated up. How is that possible without a microwave? I didn't use the cold pepperoni because it was the lowest quality pepperoni I've ever seen. I wasn't about to eat it uncooked on top of anything. Now for the rest of the pizza...the caramelized onions were nothing more than limp, steamed onions without any flavor whatsoever. The tomatoes on the pizza were disgusting and not fully ripe. For a white pizza, their cheese was bland and flavorless. Overall the pizza was extremely bland with no flavor at all. My husband added pepper to his to make it edible. I dipped mine in the cheap tasting sauce. When the server came by later to ask how everything was, I responded the way she did when we first sat down with "as good as I can be." To this she said "umm excuse me?" In a snotty tone. So I repeated myself again. Apparently she can say that but others cannot? Oh, and the cherry on top of the entire experience was sitting in a completely quiet dining room with one other table of 3 old women. Out of nowhere, one of them let out the loudest belch I've ever heard in a public setting. This thing rivaled Booger in a burping contest on Revenge of the Nerds. I didn't know whether I was disgusted or impressed. I settled on disgusted when they didn't excuse themselves and went on like it was an every day occurrence. I guess that teaches me to pick a place by the water because I assumed it would be nice. I'm embarrassed that I actually made a reservation for this place. Came here for dinner while visiting Niagara Falls. We got to sit outside in their covered outdoor patio which had a beautiful view of the river. My wife and I shared a pizza and got a couple of cocktails. The pizza was good and was the New York-style thin crust. The cocktails weren't bad. I was sad to learn that the Beef on Weck Pizza I tried at the Festival of Slice is not on the menu. But I decided to give the Ai Fungi Pizza a try and OMG!!! The crust is crisp yet airy, the garlic sauce has a beautiful flavor of roasted garlic and good quality olive oil. Its sooooooo cheesy! The mushrooms (baby bellas I presume) are sauteed to perfection. The arugula adds to a peppery flavor and the truffle oil and balsamic reduction lends to just a bit of sweetness, but in no way overpowering. This pizza is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I went here for dinner for a girls trip with three others and we wanted to dress up and go somewhere nice sit outside next to the water during sunset. The outside was perfect and so cute! It was pretty empty so we basically had the outside to ourselves. I'm not sure if it's the time of year or because we made for the end of the sunset but it set behind the bridge but it was still beautiful! Three of us got drink mine was good and strong the other two had martinis they came out half full and tasted like juice the waitress brought them new ones and made them herself and were much better. Three of us got the pesto pasta and the fourth got the shrimp. We were all in love with the chicken on top of the pesto, I personally thought the pesto was a little bland but everyone else loved their food. The menu is pretty small there are about 5 choices in each category and there are like 4-5 categories. This is also in a hotel which would be awesome if you are staying here! read more
