I attended an event in their cute upstairs event space. It was cozy and nice for a small gathering with two large individual bathrooms for your party. The food was decent with sauces and dressings on the side which was nice for people trying to eat healthy. The pizza was thin and crunchy but wasn't on any warming serving equipment, so was on the cold side when we started eating. I think it would be great warmed up. There was a bar available upstairs with a small pour of wine for $8.5 and mixed drinks and beer, and the bartender was there when the food was out. There weren't assigned servers it seemed it, several people coming up periodically so we stacked our plates after appetizers and before dessert to make room but they were kind when they got around to cleaning up. Overall, it was a nice setting and spread, with a struggle for street parking but worth a nice afternoon. read more

This restaurant was good, pre COVID. The food quality has since changed, as has the service. Portions are different, things are pre-made, and while the ambience seems good, when your food arrives cold 5 minutes after you order it, it certainly isn't fun anymore. We've tried reaching out to management but they don't care for feedback. We are sad as this was our favourite place. read more

I was so disappointed. We are visiting and not familiar with this restaurant. The menu describes portions that seemed very large, so we asked the waiter for guidance. We each ended up ordering an item of the entree menu (half chicken and meatball stew), which could have fed 8 people! At the end of the meal, I talked to the manager about the quantity of food and he essentially said "we don't judge how much people will eat." I can understand that if all customer isn't directly asking questions about the portion size. In this case we did ask and were completely oversold. Bummer! read more

The Carbonara pizza is by far my favorite thing on the menu. They typically do a great job with making pizzas but there are times when the pizza was over cooked and the topppings are sparse. But for the most part the pizza is great for the price. The management is also super friendly and helpful with correcting issues and making sure the customer is satisfied. They have a great beer selection as well, which pairs nicely with the pizza and other delicious dishes. read more

Great pizza with a simple but neat atmosphere. We started with a family Caesar salad which said was 4 but could feed 6. Very tasty. The chicken and turkey soup bowl was great along with the fried meatballs. My cheese ,pepperoni and banana peppers pizza was real good. read more

LOVE eating at Gallo. I have been here several time, and every time, it's fantastic. In my opinion, they have the best penne vodka in the area. Tonight, we started with the arugula salad for the table. It's made with arugula, pine nuts, Parmesan and balsamic vinaigrette. We love this salad! The family size is more than enough for a table of four. For dinner, I had the penne vodka (always!) with a chicken cutlet. The sauce is so creamy and full of flavor, and he cutlet was perfectly crisp! For dessert, we shared the brownie with vanilla ice cream. It's served in a mini skillet--so cute, and the brownie was warm and decadent. We will definitely be back!! :) read more

Dined on the outdoor patio during the COVID-19 quarantine. We ate there around 4:00 PM and at that time no one else was on the patio. Staff wore masks and ask that you wear them when inside too. It looked as if the tables were set far enough apart to accommodate social distancing, and with a large part of the deck being covered you had respite from the heat while being able enjoy the outdoors. Started with the banana pepper dip. It had a bit of a kick, which I appreciated, and the seasoning on the bread strips was fantastic. It is on the smaller size, so maybe two max if you're splitting it, or perfect on your own with a salad or other appetizer. It will be hot when it comes out, so you may want to give it a second to enjoy all the stringy, cheesy goodness. Went with the grape tomato and balsamic specialty pizza. Very thin crust and charred to perfection. While not a combo topping I would normally go for it was executed well. I enjoyed the meal, setting, and staff service. Excellent! Six stars if there were more! The wood fire pizza had a thin crispy, delicious crust, was done perfectly, AND tasted amazing. I ordered the eggplant, the sauce was really really good, the whole meal and outdoor experience was top notch! I am vegan and order plant based choices, this place didn't disappoint! Can't comment on the food since we walked out. Got seated, and waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged- never happened. We voted with our feet. Waitresses waked by numerous times and not one said anything like the usual pleasantries. The entire staff seemed to be fixated on cutting up the pizzas that come out and hit the cutting board that is in the wrong place. Don't think we will be back. read more

We have been for dinner at Gallo about 10 times. The previous 9 times the service and food were outstanding. Their wood fired pizza have great crust and fresh ingredients which makes them stand out from other pizzerias. This time we ordered a salad and pizza to go on March 18th around 6 pm. The salad wasnt dressed as per the menu. The pizza was disappointing as the crust taste was off. The pepperoni was greasy and bled all over the cheese which was uncharacteristically bland. What made matters worse was we have no phoned the restaurant 4 times to voice our displeasure and have yet to hear back from anyone in management. Lets just hope this was a one off bad experience and not what we can expect going forward. read more

This restaurant seated us quickly when other places were "booked," and we were needing to eat at the end of a day of hiking the whirlpool park. This restaurant has changed to a Mexican menu. Simple, yet the food was charred and distasteful. Stomach ache followed. The service was not aware of us after we'd paid up front (you pay before you get your food). The caponata was warm which is different, the dollop of ricotta didn't help it. One of the pizza was the Carbonara, the other was Salsicha both similar in flavor. we we're very disappointed in the food given the cost. we had the penne pesto with diced tomatoes. we got three cherry tomatoes cut in half and canned pesto. it's was not fresh and had no flavor at all. we also got the red sauce, which was canned tomatoes with no flavor at all. it was so disappointing. the food wasn't "bad" it just had no taste. the best thing about it is it was still kind of warm. we also ordered some pizza bread and received cold burnt pieces of pizza dough with no oil or seasoning or flavor at all. it was like chewing cardboard. My son and I decided to give this place a try for the first time.....First impressions. When you walk thru the door the Restaurant is stunning. With a clean modern look the decor makes it really feel welcoming. The Coal Fire oven burning in Plainview from anywhere on the dinning floor makes it really sell that your going to get a fantastic pizza. The server was friendly and attentive, seeing to our needs. We ordered the Bavarian Pretzel with a Beer Cheese sauce for an Appetizer..... The Pretzels were warm, Chewy and delicious with the taste that only comes from fresh out of the oven. For our Entree we had the Maragrita Pizza the sauce was good with fresh mozzarella . Also not for sure but I think a Maragarita Pizza is suppose to have full Basil leaves on it and I think It was topped with either Cilantro or coriander. It was still very good and we enjoyed the pie. Amazing restaurant, even better food! Portion sizes are HUGE so I'm not sure why I see reviews saying they are not... I absolutely love the pizza and gnocchi. So many family recipes on the menu which is awesome. You regularly see the owner and other family members working, which means food is always good and carefully watched so it's nothing but perfection. The drinks are also tremendous, Gallo Fashion or even a dry martini will always be on point. I used to eat here almost twice a week when my husband and I lived in state! Food was not great. Service was poor. We are on vacay and were not in a rush, so we dealt with the horribly slow service. However, any other person who experienced such service would probably walk out. We shared the caesar salad, Calabrian wings, and Ama... pizza (the one with caramelized onions, fontina, and pancetta). I also had a red sangria which was super sweet. The salad was so-so, tasted like your typical caesar. My husband is a wing fanatic and did not like the wings (too soggy) which were super hot and came with no ranch or blue cheese dip. We asked for ranch, but they were out. Blue cheese was the only option. We were desperate. They brought out an individual Ken's plastic tub of blue cheese. Super let down. The pizza finally came out and was really salty. This is going to be a review of two separate visits or attempted visits. We went here for dinner on Saturday, January 20th. We were shocked at the how loud the place is. It's like being in an incredibly noisy nightclub. My husband and I truly could barely hear each other. It's so loud that my husband couldn't hear the server and I had to finish his order based on his eating preferences. The food is ok. And that's it. Just ok. Truly nothing special and it came out just hot enough. The space is tiny. The tables are extremely close together which didn't help the noise level I'm sure. This place used to be a gas station. The inside is attractive but for some reason the acoustics are just awful. There was one couple diagonally behind us who were leaning across their table and cupping their hands over their mouths in order to be heard. After we left our ears were ringing like we had been in a noisy nightclub or concert for hours. Since we hated the atmosphere so much we really only ordered enough food to get us out of their quickly and ended up going down the street to Center Cut Steakhouse where we had appetizers, cocktails, and dessert. It's a much nicer dining experience. But....we wanted to give this place another chance on the food so we figured we'd order a pizza. We ordered it last night Jan 27th. What a mess. I went online to check their menu and they had an "order online" option. Knowing how loud the place is I figured this would be a better bet than trying to yell at whoever answered the phone. So I placed the order and I figured since they've got a zillion degree oven there was no need to wait long at the house. Here's where things fell apart.... My husband drove to the restaurant, walked in, and told the person who came to the hostess station that he was here to pick up a pizza. Guy -- (sounding confused) What's your name? Husband -- Anderson Guy -- how did you order it? Husband -- my wife ordered it online Guy -- But did she use.....(some number) Husband -- I don't know what you call it but she was on your website Guy gets someone else Woman -- How did you order the pizza? Husband (getting irritated by now) -- My wife ordered it online Woman -- ...Because we tell people who call to order that it takes 45 minutes Husband -- I didn't call to order it my wife ordered it online Woman -- Well it will take 45 minutes we don't have your order Husband walks out. In short....don't go here. There food is ok not great. It's a shame because the pizza sounds really good from the reviews but really, I don't recommend you going here unless you don't mind dealing with this incredibly loud place and food that's just ok. And forget about ordering takeout from there since they're too busy to process the order and their own systems don't work. It's ok if you don't take orders from your website but don't have your website set up to seem like you do. BTW, I got an order confirmation from the system and my husband's credit card was charged. So now we've got to call the credit card company to reverse the charge. A total pain in the neck. We'll never go back and won't even attempt takeout. A completely awful experience. read more
