The inspection report is detailed enough for me to determine the maintenance I can do on my own and what I'll need the shop to do. Dishonest predatory shop. This is the kind of place that gives mechanics a bad name. Shop rate is $295/ hour everyone else in town is around $200/ hour. They charge a diagnostic fee of close to $200 which they do NOT apply towards repairs. This shop isn't busy because they are expensive difficult to work with and only interested in their bottom line. Asked them to work on our VW, told them what I wanted done and why it was needed. They insisted on a diagnostic procedure and recommended a laundry list of other additional work (including windshield treatment) and drained the coolant (to diagnose the issue that I had already told them needed fixed). They estimated almost $2000 for the repair and said they would not guarantee the work. When I asked them to put my car back together (like it was when I brought it in) they refused and insisted I either have my car towed or pay the full exorbitant repair cost. Horrible expensive experience that did not end in them being any real help at all. Do not recommend. You have been warned. read more

Damian left my Range Rover outside overnight resulting in the theft of the Catalytic converter. I was promised he would take care of everything however Damian, while very courteous, was completely unhelpful. While Gertie's had care and custody of my vehicle they were completely negligent in it's care. It took 3 months to get the new part for my vehicle. Gertie's is NOT insured for loss nor do they do ANYTHING to help customers when something happens. In my research to locate a new local mechanic I uncovered several stories similar to this regarding Gertie's. This was not a single instance. Do not trust Damian. 100% do not recommend the business. read more

Damien has worked on both a Range Rover and Subaru for me. Both times the cars left his shop with a certain smooth ride you can only get from a happy car. Prior to owning these two cars I drove around a BMW and I was very particular in choosing a mechanic-I went to the same shop in Pasadena, CA for 8+ years, but if Damien's shop was around then I would have easily made that switch. Buyers beware. Took my BMW to this guy for an oil change. I was quoted $300 over the phone. After Damien, the owner inspected the car; he came up with over $5,000 in suggested repairs. His oil change somehow changed from $300 to $425. Damien also said I needed front brakes at over $2,000 and many other things. I said no and took my car to someone else who charged $210 for an oil change and said my front brakes were fine and did not need to be replaced, but if they did, it would be around $1,000, not $2,000. The new shop changed the Brake fluid and said everything else was fine. I left the new mechanics shop, spending $500 instead of $5,000. Damian called me a week later to see if I wanted to do the repairs; when I told him what I learned, he suddenly had customers standing before him and had to get off the phone quickly. They could care less what I had to say, as if this was a common theme for him. I told him I would finish what I had to say with this review, and his response was, "OK, DUDE." This is not a shop I would recommend to anyone, so I suggest being careful if you do go here. read more

What do you call an automotive shop that charges you $268 for "inspection" then says they can't work on your car because it's too "modified"? Galloping Gerties I guess. I called before I came in to verify they would work on a VW TDI diesel. Yes. I told them I had put new injector nozzels on it and did an EGR Delete to prevent the intake manifold from clogging again. Nothing said. I repeated my labors list when I brought it in. Nothing said. Damien called me later that day and said injector #3 was not working and they could not work on the car because of the mods. He also gave me info on the brakes, oil, shocks, etc. much like a free Midas Muffler safety inspection. I had sent a couple of emails wondering why they couldn't work on it after I told them(Damien) of the mods before they did the "inspection". Nothing said. So I picked the unrepaired car up and paid for the #3 injector diagnosis. ' read more
