My husband and I have been to this location three times each. All visits have been descent! My first trip in was for a nail in my tire (which they didn't charge me for, even though I didn't get my tires there) and the other two times were to have tires I had purchased elsewhere mounted and balanced. Each time they were efficient and reasonably priced. My husband also brought in tires to be mounted and balanced for his first visit- everything went well. His second visit was to have his tire checked out and have it mounted onto a new wheel when his other rim cracked. They said the tire looked ok and was holding pressure/no leaks. Well, there was apparently some damage to the tire because it formed a nice bubble in the side wall about a week later- NOT their fault. After sourcing a new tire he went back in to have it mounted, and mentioned that the previous tire did have damage. They covered the mount and balance for him, even though they didn't need to. Brought my car here a few months back after hitting a pothole. It was later in the afternoon and they said the tire I needed wouldn't be there for a couple days, no problem. Picked up the car a couple days later, paid for it and drove it the 8 mins home. When I got out at home, I noticed that there was curb rash on 3 of my wheels. Full disclosure- I already had curb rash on ONE of my wheels, but now I had it on three. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I inquired about what happened, I got the standard "We don't know what happened..." response.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They offered to review their security cameras, but of course got a call back soon after, stating that they didnt see anything on their cameras that showed when the damage occurred, although they also said that the car was parked in a spot on their lot that didn't show the entire vehicle. I didn't even know how that was possible since it was supposed to be on their lot the whole time...but they basically made it sound like I was the one that did it because I told them I knew I already had curb rash on one wheel. Yea...right...I scratched up two more wheels on my 8 min drive home, is what I was supposed to believe, utterly ridiculous. I made an appointment for a tire rotation for noon February 4th. We arrived at 11:50. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The customer service rep greeted us warmly and asked how she could help.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We said we were there for a tire rotation. She pulled up my paperwork, I handed her the keys, and she said it would be "about an hour". Thirty-five minutes later I received a call- the car was ready for pick up. No charge for the rotation. What makes this so remarkable is that I had originally scheduled a rotation at Peninsula Subaru (where I bought the car, and have a tire warranty) and was told it would cost @$27 plus taxes for a rotation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had an alignment appointment and I admit that I was 15 minutes late. Didn't seem like a big deal. I dropped my keys off and they did not say anything. None of the communication from Les Schwab said anything about a cut-off time for arriving[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After I left a got a call that they would not do my alignment because I was 30 minutes late. Which I was not. It had not even been 30 minutes since my scheduled appointment time. The extra delay was getting the key from the front desk to the alignment person[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fine so I asked when the next available appointment was. No big deal. I was told it was not for 8 days. That was a problem because I drive a lot and my alignment was seriously off from a giant pothole[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I specifically asked if there were any online appointments available because there had been quite a few when I made my original booking. I was told no. So I picked up my car and left. Out of curiosity I looked online. There were in fact 17 appointments available before the "first available" appointment including the next day[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. So I scheduled an appointment at Meineke. Update: Even better is that after the fact they called me to tell me that they could not align my vehicle anyway. So even though they had all of my vehicle information down to the tire size option and they allowed me to make an alignment appointment, in fact, they could not have even done the work. I had a nail in my tire and drove straight to Les Schwab Gig Harbor as it was the nearest tire place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The reception area was already serving someone but a very helpful lady quickly moved up to inquire after my needs. She listened attentively and took down my information, and explained that it would be a 1.5 hour wait till they get to my car.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were about 10 customers in the waiting area. The waiting area was large, there was a popcorn machine (warm popcorn) and a lovely coffee dispensing machine that offered different options. When I returned to pick up the car, the lovely customer service staff had my keys and paperwork ready and I was pleasantly surprised when she said that there was no charge for the service of removing the nail and patching up the hole. She only asked that I consider using them in the future. You won me over, Les Schwab. It will be very hard for me to go somewhere else after this wonderful experience read more

It's 1 o'clock now and there's still three cars ahead of me and I don't have time to wait. They need to notify their clients, if they are going to take this long. I bring my car in and the lady tells me two hours, which is already an hour and a half longer than what you actually need to do the work. I go get some coffee and come back about an hour later. My car is in the shop, jacked up on the driver's side. I wait about 40 minutes and since nobody has been seen near my car, I go take a look. They've changeout the tires on the passenger's side, but still nobody is within three car bays of my car. I know they pad the man power estimates to make extra profit, but this just annoys the crap out of me. read more

Since 1988 I have probably replaced at least ten sets of tires on my vehicles. Have noticed over the years, these tires centers vary greatly in service quality, and quality control. Tires have been okay but customer service and workmanship is a crap shoot. Overall quality has gone South over the years. Customer service hot and cold, tires sometimes not balanced correctly, lug nuts pretty much never tighten correctly to specification and, given poor service when requesting road hazard warranty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I don't need an attitude and red face by person behind the counter when no fault of mine roads are not maintained properly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The last straw was when someone decide to over tighten all the lug nuts after returning for this service. Nuts were slammed on so tight when getting a flat tire one dark night in the rain was not able to get the nut loose on my wife's Honda Pilot. After quite a bit of effort actually split a 1/2 drive socket and had to make a special trip to purchase an impact socket so lug nuts could be removed with breaker bar and piece of pipe, ridiculous !!! I am using discount tire service in Tacoma now and, they have been Great !! read more

My wife had some front brake work done on 8/24/19. I was informed that the rear brake pads were 4mm and need "would need replacement soon". Well... I decided to learn how to do brakes in January. As you can see from the pictures below, the old rear pads looked almost new when compared to a new Brembo pad (center with red tabs). Do pads grow over time? I thought maybe the other side would be different -- but nope it had lots of pad on it too -- way more than 4mm.. This, in combination with the grumpy lady who makes you feel like you are asking too much to get a quote on tires, will keep me out of here. I did go to a Tacoma location because of this and got a pair of autosocks. The gentleman there that sold me them was sooo friendly. read more

Some companies still care. Gig Harbor's Les Schwab is one of 'em: After I hit a curb in Tacoma, my old Jetta's tire was "done for." Only I didn't have a wheel lock,* so the damaged Toyo remained stuck. Or was it? I limped into LS where kind Shelley, and a couple of specialists, heard my tale of woe. Then steady Jay stepped in to listen. Folks? They worked hard on that thing, in the heat, for TWO FULL HOURS. Since Volkswagen doesn't sell wheel locks, Jay and his crew had to carefully muscle the wheel off--with some old-timey tricks--until just before closing. If that wasn't enough, they found me a great deal on a new tire (a huge blessing, considering that my wife and I have spent north of 20k on Long-COVID healthcare for one of our precious children). When I drove off, trailer brakes were not working so I pulled back to the bay. They told me they only peak at the brakes and do not adjust. She said must be a new policy?? WT ____? Took vehicle in for flat tire repair. Was told it would be 1 hour to 90 min. After 90 min was told that they had not started. Was made to few like I was being unreasonable when they told me it would be another hour at least before they get it in. Left me wondering who was the paying customer here. The service at Les Schwab is always awesome. I've been a loyal customer for over two decades and they've never let me down. When I was young and didn't have a ton of money they helped work with me to make sure I had what I needed. Now that I'm older and have more disposable income they have a great selection of higher end tires and more. I've used them for breaks, struts and shocks and never been disappointed. I had a slow leak in a tire that it took them 3 trips to apparently fix- and I'm not sure it's fixed- so I was wary anyway -but needed front brakes- they said- so brought my car back on a Saturday and left it. After all day they called and said that someone had ordered the wrong calipers and could I leave it with them? They are not open on Sunday to work on it and I would have to leave it Monday also. I'm a recent widow and have had to go back to work - I work 6 days a week so couldn't do that so she recommended making an appointment for the following Saturday which I did for 10:00. So the following Saturday I arrive at 8:10 hoping to get right in- there were 4 or 5 people already there. I was told they would try and get me in earlier even though I had a 10:00 appointment- they did not! I was there waiting for 4 1/2 hours and at one point was the only customer in the building! There was no communication until the kid finally called my name at 12:30. When asked what took so long he looked at me and said he couldn't start till 10:00 because I had an appointment! Then he said it only took about 20 minutes each side so I have no idea why I was still there until 12:30 unless they gave him a lunch break before handing me my keys! This is the worse Les Schwab I've ever been to and it breaks my heart to even have to leave a review like this because my family has been a loyal customer for generations! I brought my car in for a tire inspection and was told I needed 2 front tires but that the rear tires were fine. Immediately after that I noticed a distinct front end shimmy, took the car back and was told the tires needed to be balanced. Took it back for that and was told the problems was that rear tires were falling apart. So despite asking for an inspection they sold me the only 2 tires they had left and sent me down the road with 2 tires they called "dangerous". Finally got to front of line and was told an hour and a half. Been sitting here for two hours and my car is still parked where I left it. They got it up on the lift and said it would be an easy fix and there was no damage other than a missing bolt. They even ran over to the nearby hardware store since they didn't have the bolt in stock. They checked all my brakes as well. Its 2018- if your customer service sucks, you get blasted on the internet. Bought 2 front new tires for $364, installed by Jay. TPMS light was on after service which happens more often than not, just has to be released by using TPMS relearn tool. Jay performed relearn after which typically takes 5-50 miles of driving to resolve. I am a Lyft driver, I have put on 1,200 miles and still the light is on. I need to know my tire pressure since I drive for a living. Went in to ask for a TPMS relearn, which takes about 1 minute to do. Told wait was 1.5 hours. Or, the agent said I could come back around 3pm. Well, I have a life, and I am taking my daughter to Funtastic in Factoria so it would be impossible to return by that time. It is ridiculous to wait 1.5 hours for a 1 minute service to fix something YOU broke or couldn't fix when I paid $364 for a service. Les Schwab, your employees are great. Your policy are horseshit. Its not Jay's fault, this happens more often than not with TPMS when getting new tires. So why would your policy be to make people for whom this is an issue wait, in order to perform the 1 minute fix? The tire service market is so large and varied that we customers don't need much of an excuse to never use you again. I will contact corporate, and post this elsewhere. One of my car's tires keeps on leaking air causing an indicator light to come on in my dashboard. My husband is tired of getting the compressor out to refill it. When I had my oil changed last month the Toyota dealership said nothing was wrong. So today I went to Les Schwab in GigHarbor. I cannot recommend them enough! They are Covid conscious so you wait in your car to keep the numbers down in the store & they have you pull your car into the bay so no one has to get in your car. He could not find any holes in my tire so he replaced the valve. And the sweetest thing was he said you are good to go, there is no charge! WHO does that?! LES SCHWAB! Amazing company! read more

I used to do all tire and break service here, but a few years ago learned they are MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN JUST GOIMG TO THE DEALER.
