Very pleasantly surprised by this place! A little old school, and tight parking. But they were able to seat us right away even with a toddler. Our server was nice and knew the menu well. I went with the daily fish special which I forget the type of fish but it came with this crawfish cream sauce over a polenta cake and was SO good. Very rich. Very filling. Had an occasion to celebrate with a Cajun food lover so we had to try out Gallo's! They specialize in Cajun and Italian cuisine, and they have a fully stocked bar. It was an interesting vibe since they were a mix between candle light dinner and sports bar vibes with lots of TVs in the bar area. The ambience was relaxed and chill. The appetizer bread was very soft and went great with the butter. We opted for the salt brined wings as an appetizer with their house sauce. The sauce was not as spicy as expected, but the wings were so crispy and delicious. I also liked how they put the sauce on the bottom so the wings didn't get soggy over time. Being from Buffalo, my wing standards are high, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good they are! The gumbo was also delicious! It had such a rich taste to it, with tender chicken and the flavor was so deep. I thoroughly enjoyed this. The fish dish was tasty and the portion was big as it also came with polenta. I enjoyed the crawfish in the sauce, but the sauce was a bit heavy. The seafood ravioli was a bit of a miss, as it only came with five ravioli and one of them was not stuffed. Our server kindly gave us a whole new dish, which was great service, but I don't think it would be worth the price. Came here on a Friday night and was able to get seated right away! It was busy but not crazy busy. Great for a date night! Our server was very friendly be knowledgable about the menu. Wow!!!! This was an incredible yelp find. It is obviously a well kept neighborhood secret. The place was packed but we put ourselves on the waiting list and a table was ready when we showed up. We always enjoy eating in local family restaurants when we travel and Gallo's was top notch! The family story is great and we loved the bread from the family bakery. It was a warm crusty sourdough. I had the House Pasta and my husband had the Pasta Russo. Yum!!! But the star of the show was the Buttermilk Battered fried Oysters for our appetizer. We must go back again for those. The cocktails were definitely strong, but super unbalanced, if that's your thing, then go for it. Truly not the end of the world but I expected a classier experience from the location and prices. The ambiance gave upscale CC's pizza with amazon plates. Gallos remains one of the best Italian/creole restaurants in town. Great menu and specials. Even table bread is very good. Highly recommend their creole dishes. Like everywhere else the prices have gone up, but the quality and quantity of food remains high. You can expect Great service. Also it can get really loud in here. Tables are close. What a great place! Food is excellent, service is fast. Ambiance is nothing special and it was soooo dark I needed my cell phone to read the menu, but that was easily forgiven when we got our entrees. Came in on a Monday night for dinner. Parking lot was packed, though there were still quite a few tables open inside when we arrived at 5:30...not so much when we left. Started with a side salad with their balsamic dressing. The salad was nothing special, just iceberg lettuce with carrots and Kalamata olives, but the dressing was great! I had the Seafood Creole and my daughter had the Chicken Parm. Both were really, really good. The Chicken Parm was served on Alfredo noodles and topped with a red sauce. Never sent that before, but it was delicious. The Creole was outstanding. Shrimp, mussels, 4 good sized scallops and a white fish swimming in the richest red sauce I've ever had! No spice whatsoever, which was a bit surprising, but the flavor of the dish was off the charts. Need to come back again and try something with a bit of spice. Looking forward to it! read more

This food was outstanding, and the service was swift and efficient. The gumbo was spot on in flavor and very complex. The oysters were also good enough to prompt a second order. These items were very authentic New Orleanian style. If not for small patches of snow outside, you would believe you were there in New Orleans somewhere. The ambience was okay but it was Valentine's Day evening so the place was bustling with people and full. Yet you could see through all of this and see a more subtle atmosphere is possible with a normal every day outing. The mural of a New Orleans street was neat. The cuisine here is an interesting mixture of Italian and Cajun. I had a cup of their Gumbo with rice. Generous amounts of chicken and andouille sausage. I also had their Caprese Salad. While the Tomatoes were nothing to write home about (they never are anywhere this time of year), the Mozzarella was very fresh, and Balsamic glaze spot-on. The bed of mixed greens was also very fresh and complemented the Tomatoes and cheese nicely. My spouse had the meatball sub with coleslaw. The meatballs were gigantic, and a very moist and flavorful mixture of Beef, Veal and Pork. The great news is this place is now open for lunch, Wednesday-Saturday, 11am-3pm, and there is a less pricey lunch menu, but you can still order from the dinner menu at lunchtime. read more

Finally made it here. It was a nice weekday so we sat outside. It is fine but it is basically the parking lot just FYI. We were greeted quickly after being seated. Ordered some wine and then food. Once our food arrived (again very quickly) we dug in...but we needed extra dressing for the side salad, salt & pepper, and additional ketchup. We did not see our server for a lengthy amount of time to the point of going into the bar to get someone. It was a bit annoying as they were not that busy at the time. Food was fine nothing over the top but I would go back to try some other menu items. Wine list is good. If only they had a happy hour. This restaurant was recommended to us from friends and it did not disappoint! We arrived and the parking lot was full! I was worried we would have to wait for a ya ke but got sat right away in the bar area! This place was hoppin but had a relaxed atmosphere and homey vibe. We ordered the crispy cauliflower bites with the homemade ranch and they were lightly breaded and crunchy! Not soggy at all! They served us their bread and butter and o could've eaten more but would've ran out of room for my food! I ordered the chicken étouffée, that was so tender with great flavor, the gravy was rich and savory. Not spicy. It came with rice. My husband got the jambalaya which looked amazing. Very disappointed with the manager Jenn and owner Nick Gallo. My husband and I came from out of town to the restaurant for a special occasion with local people who rave about the place. My husband but into a sandwich that had an olive out in it and it broke his tooth. The manager and server were nice and apologized. Hey also gave us information to contact the manager Jenn. No real response from her. She mentioned that Nick the owner was OOT and he would be in touch with us. We have emailed and called numerous times in the last 5 weeks and no response. We now have a large dental bill and were told originally the might of the incident that they would help pay for any further bills. Feel horrible for not only my husband dealing with pain and dental issues that will last for a full year before being resolved. It would still be nice to hear from the owner. We were sat in the back room, which I kind of enjoyed but when we went out into the main dinning I wish we were sat there. I got a lovely Malbec to drink. For food we got burrata with pistachio pesto and it was amazing. I would order 10/10 times. I also got the chicken parm special. I liked it a lot. I'd been to Gallo's Tap Room before, so I assumed Gallo's Kitchen is another sports bar for the last 10 years. Turns out they're a Cajun-Italian fusion restaurant. Thank you to Facebook of all places to clue me in! The interior of the restaurant is fairly snug and the decor is on the fancier side although a bit outdated. They were very busy despite us going on a Wednesday evening. Luckily, they take reservations on Open Table. The food is very good, definitely the highlight of the restaurant. I really enjoyed my seafood creole! Their tomato sauce is on point, so anything on their menu using their tomato sauce (like pasta) is probably excellent. The price to portion ratio might be a bit on the high side, but it's acceptable. The only thing keeping them from a perfect 5 star review is the speed of the service. Possibly due to the lack of workers that's a problem everywhere these days, but our main dish took nearly an hour to come out. That's challenging when you're there with kids. All in all though, I'd definitely be interested in dining here again! read more

Outstanding vibe and service and I wish I had tried the Italian dishes instead of Cajun. Appetizer rice balls and my chicken etouffee dish were wholly overpowered by a raw garlic taste that was surprisingly novice. Also the breading on the chicken was a bit too much and therefore soggy. Not sure if it was an inexperienced chef or a purposful choice but two dishes with the same problem makes me think the raw garlic used, not sauteed it seemed to moderate the strength of the garlic, was their approach. This was a nearly $400 meal and the service was outstanding and great setting but that overpowering raw garlic will make me think twice about giving it another chance. Local Authentic Italian Homemade Food Family Dinner Restaurant Dublin, OH - Moretti's Restaurant AND now the novel of my evening: I'd heard so many wonderful things about Gallo's -- how delicious and homemade the food is -- and I'd been excited to try it for a long time. My husband and I haven't been able to go out much since April 2020. Not because of COVID, but because our son, Pete, was hit by a car that year and now requires 24/7 care. That's made dining out something rare and logistically tricky for us. My day had been busy but really nice. I went to the Bradley Craft Show with my sister in the morning, came home to do some laundry, and got ready for my open house (I'm a Realtor -- call me if you're looking for your first or next dream home!). After collecting my signs, I rushed home, and my husband and I headed out to meet my sister and her husband for dinner at Gallo's in Upper Arlington. Our reservation was for 6:15 p.m. My sister texted to say they'd arrived, and we got there right on time at 6:12. Our server greeted us warmly and took wonderful care of us all evening. She laughed at our jokes, was attentive without hovering, and made the meal feel relaxed and fun. The food was absolutely delicious -- appetizers, salads, seafood, pasta, jambalaya, two bottles of wine, and mixed drinks. Everything was spot on. I even ordered a to-go meal for my 16-year-old at home, and he loved it. The company, conversation, food, and wine -- it was exactly what my husband and I needed. When I saw bread pudding on the menu, my eyes lit up. I love bread pudding, and I had already decided I was going to order it no matter how full I was. We were sipping our wine and waiting for our server to return with dessert suggestions when a manager came to our table. He asked how everything was, and we told him it had been wonderful -- that our server was fantastic. Then, out of nowhere, he said he was "in a jam" and needed our table. We were stunned. We explained that we were still waiting to order dessert, and a carry out order he said he'd check on it before walking away. We all looked at each other, trying to process what had just happened. There was an empty table nearby and only a few people waiting by the door. We still had plenty of wine left, and our service had been well-paced all night -- not slow, not rushed. When our server returned, we told her what happened. She looked uncomfortable and said she'd need to ask if we were still allowed to order dessert. Apparently, there's a 90-minute dining limit. I wasn't watching the clock, but the entire meal had moved along naturally. We definitely weren't lingering or holding things up. Still, I was determined to have my bread pudding. I decided to explain to the manager-- calmly but honestly -- how much this night meant to us, and how his words had taken something special and turned it into something upsetting. I tried to keep it factual, but as a mom who still cries daily seeing my son struggle, my emotions showed. I didn't yell; I just shared my reality. He didn't apologize. He barely said anything -- just nodded a few times. When I asked to speak to the owner, he came over, but his demeanor was fidgety and detached. He said the right words but didn't seem sincere. We even pointed out t the table that remained empty the whole time. He said he didn't know what happened but would ask. He ended by saying he hoped it would be better "next time," and I told him there probably wouldn't be a next time. He didn't seem to care. As someone who's worked in restaurants for many years -- from server to general manager -- I know that this situation could have been turned around with empathy and ownership. Instead, I went from having a rare, joyful evening to sitting in the car replaying the words, "I'm in a jam, I need your table." It's about a 25 minute drive home and we arrived home around 8:15 p.m.,about two hours after our reservation time. I never did get my bread pudding -- and by then, I wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway. Gallo's is a local fan favorite around here in Columbus, and famous local Yelper Mike G got me hooked on them after my first visit to the city a few months back. I've been a fan since, and got the chance to visit this location on my trip back down to Columbus. This location is more intimate then the first one we had been too. What I didn't know is that the menu varies somewhat between locations depending on what you're looking for. This location has a more Southern/Creole type menu with a decent variety of options. They also take pride in their extensive beer, wine and liquor offerings which is a menu in itself. Recently, the waiter told me that this location has a wine dispensing machine which the staff is head over heels with because it keeps the wine at the perfect temperature and allows the staff to sample wines that they normally wouldn't be able to by the glass due to not having proper storage for the long term. After reviewing the menu, I really wasn't sure what to get. The food here is fabulous but my appetite has been a bit off lately so I didn't want a ton of food. I ended up getting the burger and Mike G ended up getting the Po Boy, which he loved. My burger was fabulous and our server was top notch. I find the service here to be amazing at this location and we both had a really good time. Overall, gallo's doesn't disappoint and we both seemed to walk away happy with our experience here. We went to Gallo's tonight at 4pm hoping to enjoy their happy hour. They do not have a happy hour as is advertised. They did seat us, and we had a lovely waitress - very knowledgeable and kind (5 stars). At 4:45 pm, she politely told us that there is 90 minute time limit, so we had 45 minutes to order our food and be out of there. We were somewhat surprised since no one told us this when we arrived, and we were the only ones sitting in the dining room. Thinking she might have misunderstood the rule and that it was only during prime dining hours, we asked to speak to the manager. Our waitress did not misunderstand, and we needed to be out of the restaurant in 45 minutes because he had a busy schedule tonight. We asked him if we could start the time now, since they were still allowing open seating, and he told us no. He even told us that Kitchen Social has this 90 minute rule. We have eaten at Kitchen Social many times, and this is not the case unless you are sitting at the party table. Rather disappointed with this policy. The menu does look very delicious, and I think fine food should be savored and not rushed. We asked for our check and went to dine at The Wine Bistro which had great happy hour specials, wonderful servers, lovely atmosphere, and does not add a surcharge for using a credit card. read more
