I am so incredibly disappointed in the way Gallos handled my order. Nay I'm downright PISSED OFF. If you cannot handle packaging a large order, don't accept them. If the order does NOT fit into 2 bags USE 3! If you cannot bag it without spilling into the bags, USE BOXES. if a platter is used but you need to cover USE ANOTHER PLATTER to keep it warm. I spend well over 100$ I do NOT expect sloppy, wet, OVER STUFFED bags that I have to REASSEMBLE and clean up from leaky wet bags. The food is probably tasty, but by the time I clean up and reassemble it, it will all be cold. I will NOT recommend DELIVERIES from GALLO'S. Great service! Cheery interior! Nice place to go for a cheery environment on a gloomy day. I found food to be tasty and appropriately priced. They have home made tortilla chips which I really enjoyed. The only reason for less than five stars is simply because the place needs a little maintenance. Many of the chair and booth seat cushions are split exposing the interior foam that I wonder what's been spilled on it. A little maintenance would go a long way towards a five star review. Tostaditas Steak Chipotle says 'spicy' on the menu. Not only is it not spicy, but it has no flavor at all. Steak was overcooked and just dry bits. All of the avocado was discolored. Margarita had no alcohol. I highly recommend that you avoid this place. read more

Not only did we have to repeat our order several times, but they got it wrong and forgot to give us my dinner which was fajitas. My husband had to drive back to the restaurant to pick it up and now both meals are cold. They also forgot the ranch dip for the poppers. Ironically, we ordered from them rather than our usual Taco King because they got our order wrong the last three times. I would also suggest that they answer the phone announcing the restaurant name instead of "hello". We had to ask both times if it was Gallos. read more

The best thing about this restaurant is the margarita I'm telling you as someone who's tried quite a few these are the best I've ever had. The staff was great both friendly and helpful. Brought out hot fresh food and asked all the questions to be sure my experience was great. The food was very tasty and the salsa tasted as if from scratch in the kitchen. The hot salsa was so full of flavor and heat I was genuinely impressed. For being so far from Mexico this was an amazing experience and I will definitely be a regular. read more

My husband and I have never had a bad experience at Gallo's but today was the first and worst service I've received in a while from any restaurant. The food was absolutely tasteless, they were giving canned sodas that were warm and putting it ice which is never a good combo, than we found food particles in our coke, I still paid full and tipped the waitress $10. But in this economy nobody wants to waste $80 dollars on bullshit food! Get it together Gallos, I actually will not be coming back to this location again, and the waitress even with him giving attitude I still tipped because I understand people have there days however he needs to find a new job because clearly waitressing is not his strong suit. She was helpful when our table went to order by giving the pros and cons of each meal. She never let the water get below 1/4 full, or our chips go empty. Fajitas - I had the Chicken Fajitas. They came out on a hot plate, and the meal was sizable. The chicken was well made. The beans, salsa, guacamole, and rice were well done as well. Overall, I had no issues with the meal. Definitely bring your full appetite to a restaurant if you go with this meal. Margaritas - The Margaritas are pretty large. One of the people in our group had two, and they looked delicious. Why not 5 stars? - overall food quality to price ratio doesn't match. I understand food in Alaska is more expensive, but at the same time - it this establishment doesn't have a superior food/price ratio. Pro Tip - They have tons of parking. My friends and I went to Gallos for dinner tonight. We have frequented Gallos so many times, but it was their first and we had definitely hyped it up because the food had never disappointed us in the past. The ambiance is cute for an Alaskan Mexican restaurant. We were seated fairly quickly and ordered. While waiting for our food, a 2-inch beetle crawled up our friend's shoulder. Yes, an actual bug. In. The. Restaurant. Crawling. On. One. Of. The. Guys. We screamed and were, admittedly, quite shriek-ish about it. The guys went about the process of killing this bug. After killing it, the waitress came over and asked what we were freaking out about. We told her, and she replied, "what are you afraid of bugs?" After showing her the beetle, she said, "oh that's a tiny one," and walked away from us. We refused to return to our seats because we were too skeeved out to sit back down. This was our favorite Mexican restaurant, and it is sad that we will no longer be returning due to this incident and how the waitress chose to handle it. read more

I was surprised by los Gallo's. Mexican in Fairfield Alaska? It was better than advertised. I got the fajitas and they had some serious flavor profiles. Lots of steak and chicken and onions and peppers. The hot plate stood hot and continued to cool the onions and peppers. The rice and beans were tasty and also hot temperature wise. It included sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo. The decor was very "Chevy" like. Chip are produced the moment you get to your table. The hot salsa given is more than your typical sit down Mexican restaurant. It was a little punch but didn't detour me for asking for a second cup of it. I ended up using some on my meal. The downside was the tortillas were not hot, which was a negative in my book. I would recommend asking to get them reheated if you order some if not hot. All and all was a good meal! read more

Thumbs up for the food, service and ambience all. Loved the vibe, loved the food, multiple veg/vegan options. The waitress was also sweet and accommodating. Chairs, walls had designs, kids may like this a lot. We ordered veg Fajitas, spinach enchiladas and veg burrito bowl. All dishes came with rice and pinto beans slurry and big portion sizes. I loved the way they served fajitas. They put a veggie sizzler kind of pan on candle to keep it warm and gave taco base separately. Also the veggie burrito bowl had sautéd veggies on the side. It's Alaska so maybe deserves better, but as a Mexican restaurant it's average; at best. Service was slow throughout from entry to drinks to meals, but polite. Smallest bowl of chips and salsa I've ever seen at a restaurant but tasted ok. Chicken, beef, cheese enchiladas (3) with rice and beans was overall the absolute most bland mexican food ever, Taco Bell is better, didn't even finish mine. Very little sauce, no lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole-nothing to help. Fajitas were nicely mixed but the meat was tough and large pieces. Decent serving sizes and piping hot. Big craving for mexican food lead us here. Happened to drive passed this place so figured we give them a try. According to the sign at the front door entry , you must be 21 or older to enter. Anyway. I love the whole design of this restaurant. The dining chairs alone are worth taking pictures of. The chips and salsa were good. The hot salsa was the best. For my meal i had the carne asada plate with double rice. It was also served with a cheese enchilada and tortillas. The food was good. But I have had better. Everyone seemed to be pleased with their meals except for one who had the fajitas. The fajitas were burnt prior to being sent off on the sizzling skillet. So it just got extra burnt. We had a hankering for Mexican while out and about in Fairbanks and I found this on Yelp. I saw the reviews were on the extremes with few in the middle. This gave me confidence. From our experience as a group of 4 who all ordered different dishes, this place was fantastic. To start off, the service was the best I've had in a long time. We were seated quicky and our waiter was on point. He was extremely attentive without any hint of hovering. He would just appear with what you needed seemingly at the same moment you realized you needed it. The chips were on the small and hard side. Not bad for eating with salsa but not my favorite style. I won't hold that against them. They were fresh and tasty. The hot and mild salsa both had some heat to them. Both were full of flavor, and neither was too hot to enjoy. I had the halibut fajitas which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. This was my first time having fish fajitas and I was impressed. I would not hesitate to go back to this place. read more

The waitress forgot to bring two of us our drinks until our entree was there, she brought out the appetizers which took up the whole table and then four minutes later the entrees so there was absolutely no room on the table. The food quality sucked. We finally got our drinks right before we were getting ready to pay the check and realized that they now include an 18 percent gratuity so whether or not your service sucks it's on you. We should not have to pay the dishwashers wages, the bus persons wages, and the waitress's wages especially when the food was not what was ordered. Stopped by here on way to the airport after a two month stay in Fairbanks. I've driven by it a bunch of times but never stopped in. Glad I did. I ordered the chicken chimi and it was pretty good. The vibrant scene inside is very colorful and reminds you of some of the south west lower 48s eateries. The salsa is really good and the beans and rice were good as well. The service was great and food reasonably priced for Alaska. The only down side, because there are no sound absorbing things in the restaurant, it is really loud. Would come back though. read more

Don't waste your time! Yuck! What Mexican restaurant doesn't have liquid cheese dip?! Also, the chicken looks and tastes like pork. Big chunks of pork and hominy. Huge portion. The beef fajita quesadilla was quite mediocre. Portion was good but the fajita was not diced. Rather it was just put in the tortilla in varying thick slices. This made the distribution very poor. There were big chunks of meat in some spots, none in others. Flavor was okay but nothing special. Food is amazing-- I would recommend the enchiladas, personally. Everything was good food wise, though I didn't have the pleasure of trying any drinks. Service is another story. Waitresses treat you like you're a nuisance. I had ordered a coffee later in the evening which lead to a snarky response from the waitress serving us who then proceeded to stand around with an AirPod in her ear rather than checking-in on us. Very clean, colorful interior with many beautiful designs. There was a bar for beer and cocktails at the opposite end of the room, and lots and lots of tables and chairs to sit at. We enjoyed the free chips and salsa and that the waiter brought us water without us requesting it. The wait for the food was not long at all, and the portions were big! Very much worth the money we paid. I absolutely loved the Spanish rice and that our dishes came with rice and beans and sour cream and guac. The guac was very yummy and so was the vegetarian quesadilla (loaded with veggies), the veggie taquito, and all the other dishes we got. The service is fine, the ambiance is cheerful, but the food is utterly awful. The steak fajitas are not even -remotely- seasoned. No garlic. No cumin. No salt. No paprika. No oregano. Nothing. The steak tasted freezer burned. You had to load it up with sour cream and pico de gallo in order to cover the taste and that hardly worked. I didn't finish it, simply took it home and tossed it. Better than I expected! Every dish was good, salsa and chips were yummy and always refilled. Server was very nice and attentive. Loved the atmosphere its so colorful and has a lot of fun decorations to look at, which just returning from Peru and Colombia made me feel like I was back on vacation. A large and friendly indoor environment but no outdoor seating, a real disadvantage at these times. Nevertheless we ordered some take out and the quality was pretty good. The food came together quickly was nicely packaged for travel. Some complementary chips and salsa seems to be a significant oversight in the approach to the take away business. Biked over to this easy to notice Mexican restaurant located on College Road for a hot dinner on a chilly snowy rainy grey day. I was sat immediately in a very un-busy dining area. The decor is festive and happy, and there are TVs on the walls with all the playoff games on. It's kinda a restaurant slash sports bar, as there is also technically a "bar" which you can sit and have chips and salsa and watch the playoffs. I was served chips and salsa straight off too, with two different cups of salsa, hot and mild. The hot was definitely my favorite. Really good flavor. The menu is pretty large, and there should be something for everyone. There's even steaks. I went with the #20, one tamale and one beef enchilada with rice and beans. I also ordered my standard "Arnold Palmer," (ice tea and lemonade) My food was served in a normal amount of time on a piping hot plate. The beans were super good! Good grief yeah they were just refried beans but daaang they were great. The rice was good too. The tamale was stuffed nicely with shredded pork, and had a really good flavor to it, almost like there was just a hint of adobo(?) sauce or something. Really good. The enchilada was fine, nothing to complain about. I enjoyed my meal here, and enjoyed watching some of the hockey and NBA playoffs while I ate. The server, Saul was attentive and quick. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the prices are just a schooch too high, $17 for the combo meal I had. And fajitas for $22? My total price without tip was $20, a somewhat high price for just the two entree and sides.
