It might be a 4 if we ate there in person but the takeout was a 3. The veggie burrito didn't have many veggies in it. It was just rice, beans, and tomatoes. The tomatoes were big chunks. I got the birria taco and an adobada taco. I was a little disappointed that the birra taco didn't come with consume. And although the guy told me they dip the shell in the consume honestly i feel like it really needs to be served with the consume. And the meat was also dry. Taco King ATE! Left no crumbs! As a Hispanic Los Angeles native, I approve this message! Everything we tried was so good. We ordered a chimichanga, a burrito and enchilada plate, taco with adobada meat, and a bean dip. Everything was great. Their salsa bar had various salsas and even sour cream! The only downsides were the chips for my bean dip were stale and the cashier lady had a sour attitude. All in all, I'd say definitely authentic Mexican food! read more

First of all, there is no air conditioning so don't even bother eating inside. Secondly, don't even bother eating here. The food is literally just meh. Not only that, it's greasy meh. You order a taco and you get grease. The beans have a strange taste to them. It's hard to figure out what it is, but it's very strange. The rice was generic. No real flavor. The burrito was chicken and it was very dry. There was nothing amazing about the place. The service was slow and they didn't have much to offer. I can't speak for it much other than that. read more

Taco King is THE place for Mexican food in Fairbanks. It's no San Antonio, but it will leave you full and satisfied. So far I have tried the Lengua, Carne Asada, Adobada, and Chile Verde Combos. The meats are always well cooked - tender and perfectly seasoned. These combos come with rice, beans with cheese, and warm corn or flour tortillas. They're garnished with onions, cilantro, and a lime wedge - adding the perfect amount of freshness and acidity. Their horchata is a hit or miss, refreshing, but I prefer a stronger cinnamon taste. Their flan was egg-y and had the texture of a soft, melted sponge - not creamy or custardy as I'm used to. The salsa... I tend to stick with the mild. Going from mild to medium is going from 0-100. The spicy salsa has an overwhelming smokiness that is a bit off putting. When you walk in, you will order food, pay, and THEN sit down. The food will be brought to you if you choose to dine in. Taco King is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town by far. And I recently learned they're also fabulous caterers. They catered my wedding, and were extremely accommodating, provided excellent service, and plentiful, delicious food, on time, with no issues. Pretty good spot for some good Hispanic food. A little noisy but the staff were very friendly. The ordering system is a little weird - you order at the counter and then sit down and they bring the food to you. The food was good. Portions were good as well. My husband and I enjoyed a chicken chimichanga and veggie burrito. We got the combos which is an extra $3.50 and includes rice, beans, and a drink. The rice and beans were very yum. I also appreciated their little salsa and sour cream bar. I love me some sour cream so it's nice to be the dictator of how much goes on my plate. :) Overall, our experience was good. This is one of the better Mexican restaurants in town. I normally get their carne asada and have never been disappointed with it. Occasionally when we try newer things we find something we're not really fond of, for example bean dip appetizer that's just refried beans with cheese on top, but it's not super pricey so we're not spending a lot on trying out newer things when we do. Have to keep in mind that this is Fairbanks. They do an admirable effort with trying to keep the food authentic, but the customer base and the supply chain clearly don't trend towards authentic here. Menudo was almost decent but ended up way salty. Tacos aren't street tacos, more like overly greasy soft tacos, but compared to a lot of other meals this place definitely hit the spot. Employees are often originally from Mexico, they try hard with the salsa - but apparently even getting Habanero up here is hard... so I appreciate their efforts, but you still have to keep in mind the limitations. read more

If you order delivery and they forget an item they tell you they'll go get it and bring it back but NEVER do. I have called them back on multiple occasions bc they forgot some items and they tell me they will send it and sometimes have been told they'll bring me a free dessert for the inconvenience but that NEVER comes either. They have charged me many times for items I have never received. Food is mediocre at best. We order here bc quite frankly the options for decent tacos is lacking in Fairbanks. Halibut tacos are not good, shrimp tacos are the best taco they have, the special tacos are ok. The fries are ok, the burritos give my husband the runs every time without fail (we no longer order burritos), I've tried a chicken enchilada it wasn't bad, and the churros are good. While in Fairbanks visiting we gave the Taco King a try and were glad we did. We are used to So. California Mexican food and this was as close as you could get to it in Alaska. Called them the Saturday after thanksgiving and found a first class rude mouth smarty pants taking orders. Turns out the delivery driver, who was fantastic explained that the owner was using a call center service in Mexico to take orders. When I asked how big the tacos were the smarty pants call center guy said, UH, I dont' know. I asked, how do they compare to Taco Bell? His reply, we don't eat Taco Bell. The food is bland. Honestly, I'm sure I got better tacos from high school cafeteria and I'm 35 years old. These reviews must be fake. They could do better with the packet of taco seasoning from the grocery store.
