A pretty large sports bar. It has TVs almost much everywhere you look so it is great for watching a big game. There is a small patio outside and I believe it was covered which would be nice for rainy days. I've eaten here a few times too and I haven't been disappointed. Not quite four stars, a solid 3.5 on the Richter Scale. Met friends at Gallo's to watch the OSU/MSU game. Plenty of seats. The bar is long, so if you want front-and-center, you're good. For game-days, they also cover their two pool tables, so they can seat big parties. Plenty of tvs all about - the game on all of them. I don't do beer, so I can't comment on the alcohol selection. The volume inside was fantastic: people cheering for the game; at the same time, you could have a conversation with your neighbor without having to elevate to yelling. Nice. Alana and I split the Roast Beef and Bacon Torta. Side salad for the accompaniment. Split between two plates. Side salad was great! The horseradish sauce that came with the sandwich was a great addition. Crisp, chewy bacon. Roast beef had good flavor. Being on their daily-specials menu, I'd definitely get the meal, should it show up on the specials again. Their desserts were on that same separate "Today's Specials" paper menu. Tiramisu. Obviously, I indulged. It was decent. My fav, no. The lady finger cookies could have been more flavorful. The Italian cream layer wasn't too much of a stand-out. The subtle espresso flavors were a good touch. I'm glad I've had the chance to check out Gallo's - I've had it bookmarked since their inception. I went to Gallo's for a quick dinner and this place was packed on a Friday night. We were seated at an uncomfortable high-top. The table was long and skinny and the seating was awkward. I guess I could excuse this given the crowd. Gallo's features a long list of draft beers, with plenty of options from Ohio and the Midwest, along with a healthy range of choices from macro lagers to IPAs to stouts. We ordered boneless wings as an appetizer and I had the classic burger. The wings and entrees came at the same time - one of my biggest pet peeves. The wings were mediocre; I could tell they weren't fresh and most of the pieces contained more breading than meat. The burger was a-okay. The bread and meat didn't blow me away, but it was cooked adequately and I couldn't really find any faults. The vegetables and bun weren't fresh or stale. Been here a couple of times. They have great bar burgers that you can even customize. I had an Angus burger with caramelized onions, garlic, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese and smeared on some horseradish sauce, which is great to also dip the fries in. The burger was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. It is a nice size with a light bun. Boyfriend had a side salad with their house dressing.....OMG!! That was a great dip for fries, also. Giving Gallo's a 3-star rating for the quality of their food and how hard our server worked trying to take care of our section during our visit. This place is huge, and its sports-bar reputation is well earned. We stopped in for dinner during the week and it was packed without a major game on. You could bring a big group here, or hit the bar with a friend or two. Lucky for us, we caught one of the last tables available and settled in. Unluckily for us, the server working our section went AWOL and left one person to gut it out - noticeable waits for drinks, food and check - but sometimes it happens. There is a large selection of rotating taps and other local(ish) craft beers. Again, the food here is good, with a lot of variety - everything from pizza to mussels to pierogis. I ordered a basic grilled chicken and fries, and the chicken was still juicy coming out - something you can't count on. The spouse had the paisan panini and salad, and he liked the panini a lot. I would order that next time, or one of their Cajun/NOLA items - muffaletta or oyster po-boy. A good choice for bar food while watching a game or hanging with friends. read more

Then, at the urging of the barmaid, I ordered "the Ultimate BLT." Six slices (yep you read that right!) of thick-cut bacon, and lettuce and tomato, and homemade mayo. The wine selection was decent, and I know there craft beers are usually a pretty awesome selection. We ended up ordering a bottle of wine and ordered the pizza. Nice place to eat and watch sports! There are tons of TVs everywhere, so pretty much anywhere you sit is a good spot. They even have smaller TVs hooked up at the booths. We were here for NCAA tournament games and it was pretty full, so I'm assuming it gets really packed for buckeye games! There was a private party in the back, so it's a good option for large gatherings. We started with the pierogies, which were awesome! They are just as good as my favorite pierogies at Barley's downtown. We also ordered wings. We wanted to order 15 with a couple different sauces, but they wouldn't let us split it up, which I don't understand. So we ended up ordering 10 with cockfight sauce and 5 garlic herb. The wings were good and meaty and not drenched in sauce. The cockfight sauce is under the hot category, but it wasn't spicy at all to me. It also had a hint of sweetness. It was a great sauce though! We also ordered the fried oyster po boy. I was so excited when it came out because it looked so good! But unfortunately, I was disappointed with the sandwich. The bread was so thick and just way too much. I ended up taking off the top piece and tearing off most of the bottom piece of bread. Even then, every bite I took, I couldn't even taste the oyster because it was so heavily breaded. I ended up just eating the last couple pieces of fried oyster by itself and even then I felt like I was just eating the breading. Ugh. I'll be back for the wings and pierogies though!:) read more

I'll note first that I've only been here during the day on a Saturday during college football gameday. I enjoy the crowd they bring it, but it's clear why they draw the crowd. Their drinks are reasonably priced, their staff is VERY friendly and accomodating, and it's a fun lively atmosphere for the games. Their domestic drafts are well-priced, and even their specialty drinks weren't bad. The only food I've had there was french fries, which were cheap in price, but high on quality. Lastly, the manager or owner last time we went was was very very helpful. He must've tried for about a half hour (no exaggeration!) to find the game I wanted to watch, which was only broadcasted regionally. He did his best and I give him lots of credit for putting up with me and my need to watch the game. I'll definitely be back here for the game next Saturday and you should too! I should mention that even though I'm not an Ohio State fan, they bring a large crowd of scarlet and gray in there, so if you're a fan, this is your place. read more

One of my favorite Sunday routines is to come to Gallo's with my laptop, plug into the wifi, order a Bloody Mary and roast beef sandwich, and get a little work done while surveying the day's games. Gallo's is the best sports bar in town, IMO, and happily not far from home. Service can be inattentive at times, but I'm pretty self-sufficient and happy to chase after a waiter/waitress when I need something. I went a few weeks ago with a friend. We had been to Gallo's Kitchen and Bar and were very impressed, so we checked out Tap Room. Gallo's is a bar and has a bar atmosphere, which meant a higher noise level than I generally prefer. Service was also great although we had to wait a while for our food. I got The Big Easy Sandwich with a house salad with balsamic, and my friend got the special - ribs and fries. The sandwich was a cold sandwich, and while it didn't amaze me, it was good, and the homemade balsamic dressing was fantastic. The fries were good, and the ribs were amazing - the meat was perfectly tender, so tender I could use a fork more than fingers to eat it. Not as impressive as Gallo's Kitchen and Bar, but still among your top options for food at a bar around Columbus. read more

So, I came here the other night for a late night bite. I figured it was late enough that we could skip out on any kind of "rush" and just get a bite and a beer and get out. Well, it seems that there was one server working the entire place. One. She was super friendly and did her damnedest to take care of everyone. I could see several people behind the bar, one of the ladies which my friend pointed was the "manager" who was doing absolutely fuck-all. It was annoying to see such a large bar staff when their floor was obviously suffering because of it. What's worse - the food? A drop in quality. The food was decent. Great place to watch a game. Also has some vintage arcade games, pool tables, and a patio. For the price, i could have gotten 2 boxes of farmrich ones from the store. I ordered the Veg Head panini which did have some kind of sauce on it but the bread was hard and the sauce was bland and the vegetables were cold. The veggies had the temperature of being cooked, but then they got cold and they thought the heat from the panini press would be enough to heat them again. It wasn't I don't even know why I finished the panini, it was really bad. but I was really hungry. So i opened it up and dumped a bunch of salt on it to give it some flavor. Lots of TVs tuned in to many sports and music is always on, so it's very loud and busy. But, hey, it's a sports bar. Sounds silly, but I love their setups. They use nice, heavy forks and knives and cloth napkins. Too many "casual nice" places use industrial, dormitory-like, cheap forks and knives and paper napkins. read more
