They were very quick in getting me in and my car smogged. They were busy and I was a walk in but still managed to have every thing done super quick! They lady at the counter was very helpful and friendly! I did pay the $40 fee to get my tags right there (since I waited til last minute to get my smog done). Excellent service .. Smog shop across the street Smog TecH 3 failed me just 20 mins prior because of a visual test that he says I failed because of smoke seen at 3000 rpms and could comeback for retest in less than 20 days .. my car just got repaired at Mercedes and runs great 2007 S550 ... so I said let me go across the street and pay again and see if they say the same Galt Smog looked at my car before running test to see what this other shop was talking about .. revved engine 3000-4000 rpms and no sign of smoke .. Around 4:30pm decided to see if I could get a smog. Walked in and let the teller know I had previously failed a smog and needed a re smog. She quickly asked if I had any paper work and went around to her desk. Came back and let me know I needed a Star Certified Smog and they weren't licensed to do so. I continued to see if she could explain more into detail what the next step seemed but I quickly realized she could care less since she wasn't getting my business. I then finally asked if she knew anyone who was star certified told me the nearest place was Stockton or Sacramento. After a quick google search I found that the smog place across the street was certified. She was willing to send me 2 tows over just to take away from her competitor when they were the ones who turned the work away. Rest assured I won't be using this business in the near future. read more

Great service! I took in my 2005 MDX Saturday morning to be serviced and was afraid there would be a long wait based on the number of cars ahead of me. No such thing! I was in and out and on my way home in about twenty minutes. Waiting room was bright and clean and woman working the counter was friendly and helpful. What an awesome place! Helpful in every way. Had a little trouble with a weird engine light coming on when they removed my Bluetooth diagnostic device. They didn't fail me and charge me, they said, go drive around maybe it will turn off. Sure enough, a couple hours later, it was back to normal and passed smog the next morning no problem. What a great place! So happy I went to them instead of back to guy who charged me for using his out of date tool in South Lake Tahoe. Thanks so much. read more

Brought two cars here this morning. The women behind the counter was not very friendly. One of the two cars that I brought required a "Star Check" smog which they are not qualified to do. This was fine. What bothered me and the reason that I gave this company a one star is that she lied to me. She told me that I had to go to Sacramento as the car was registered there. I walked across the street to Smog Tech 3 and they are "Star Check" qualified. Same price. Great service and super friendly. Needless to say I brought both cars across the street. I could not be more pleased with my experience! After enduring a horrific experience at another smog shop (see my review for "Abetter smog"), it was a real pleasure to be treated to a professional shop, where I not only felt valued as a customer, but was quoted over the phone and received the actual and complete "out-the-door" price ($58). The wife of the owner greeted us, and the owner worked on our vehicle. They were extremely courteous, very professional, and prompt. The average wait per vehicle seemed to be only about 10 minutes, so we were in and out of the shop in about 20 minutes. It was a pleasure doing business with my Galt Smog, and I will use them from now on for my annual smog check. They have earned a customer for life! read more

For as long as i can remember (5+ years) i've been coming to this smog shop to get my trucks smogged. Fred (the owner) is a real cool guy, i will never go anywhere else. Ive been going to him for smog since he had a smog shop in lodi off cherokee. I highly recommend In N Out Smog. It costs me about $45 for a smog check. Clean work area.
