I've been living in Prairieville for nine years. The first few times I visited Galvez seafood many years ago. I was so disappointed. But now in the last couple years with the new owners. Wow, what an amazing difference. The owners are younger and have a great vibe for taking traditional recipes and making them unique. The bar staff is amazing. And you can't get mad about having to wait for a tiny place like this in Prairieville. They also started doing a brunch, with an amazing bacon jam. Can you say bacon jam???it goes on everything. They also do a one-man band on Sundays and I believe they're going to start doing new music once the weather cools off. And also can I say the calamari is phenomenal. I think it is probably the best calamari I've ever eaten even from authentic Italian restaurants. This is definitely one of my repeat places without a doubt read more

This spot is my jam. I live about 5 minutes down the road. The service is always friendly, food always great, decent ambiance, sometimes they have live music which we love! Their brunch is surprisingly great and I don't think I've had anything on the menu I didn't like. Last time we went I got mahi mahi tacos with mango salsa and house made chips (addictive!) and a really yummy blackberry frozen rum drink. It was awesome to beat the Louisiana summer heat! read more

I ordered five pounds of crawfish from our waitress (Frankie), when I asked her the price of extra corn and potatoes her demeanor and facial expression was like she was annoyed by my question. I also asked her the price of sausage at which time she cut me off and walked over to the register and shook her head. She was not polite the whole time. I seen that she was busy and all over the place, but that doesn't mean she can take it out on her guests! It's pretty sad that this generation of kids don't wanna work! read more

Always delicious! Always great service! Today we stopped in for brunch and dare I say, if that was my last meal then I'd be absolutely fine with that! Hubby just said to me that we need to make this our Sunday thing because how have we been sleeping on brunch at Galvez Seafood!? I forgot one pic - of the Grits & Grillades - and that's because we dove in before I took my phone out LOL! OH my word! What is in that? Amazing! We also shared the French toast as well as the traditional breakfast. Everything was scrumptious!! I also had a Paloma to drink because my imosas make me sleepy and we had errands to run after. Food was OK. Service was OK. Atmosphere was OK. The one appetizer I wanted to get, the crab kickers, were "no longer on the menu" which made me sad as I had heard they were good! The seafood potato was very lackluster compared to other local variations of the dish. My wife's crab cake sandwich was just bread in a crab cake. Both dishes were pleasant, but just OK. Hoping I can try this place out again a see if any particular dish stands out. read more

WORST restaurant ever that has been placed in the state of Louisiana for many reasons. 1 fist of all the waiters/ waitresses are horrible and slow. I have never had a slower waitress ever in my life how can you be this slow they're not 90 years old. Its sad because this place is less than a mile from us and we rather drive further or have other food delivered when we want to eat out due to the service....even spoke with the owner yesterday and we was rude as hell....thats why the whole restaurant operates the way they do because it starts at the top! Food wasn't so great either...nothing spectacular about anything you order here. Just plain and ordinary! I love this place and the staff that work there. They are very attentive and care so much about their employees and customers. If you go there are a few must try's: Crab and Brie soup Mac and cheese Ribeye Shrimp fettuccine Alfredo Seafood stuffed potato (Lobster cream sauce is heaven!) They genuinely have one of the best steaks. I also love their chicken wings. They make their dipping sauces and dresses in house and their ranch is fabulous. Just had an oyster poppy and the oysters were excellent. Great fried shrimp too. We eat here alot. Love that it's owned by a Nola guy! Nothing better than New Orleans seafood cooking and bread. Went to lunch here with my granddaughter yesterday and we didn't really know what to expect but it was nice and trendy inside cutely decorated. They have a full bar and a lot of tvs. Our server was sweet and got our order correct so hey that's really the main thing and kept our glasses full. My granddaughter and I both got the choose 2 seafood plate. She had the fried shrimp and stuffed crab it came with salad and choice of potato with baked potato. I had the shrimp and catfish with baked potato. I also upgraded my salad to a Cesar and also orderd a fried soft shell crab on the side for me and granddaughter to share. The shrimp,catfish and stuffed crabs are really tasty but that Softshell was so nasty I thought I was gonna Puke. Our party of five had an okay experience at Galvez. Three of us ordered crawfish with corn and potatoes and 2 ordered salad chicken and sausage gumbo, and grilled cheese with fries. The crawfish was delicious, perfectly seasoned and plump. The corn was to die for. My friend said her salad was good and that the gumbo was hearty. She let me have a bite of her gumbo and I agree! We didn't like that they sat the 5 of us at a 4 top. We were uncomfortably cramped. We got to the restaurant at 5:45pm before the dinner crowd with plenty of open tables. Two of my friends ordered gumbo, but only one received it. When she asked for it, the waiter questioned her. It was uncomfortable. We also asked for butter 2x - once during the main order and again when he brought out our food and asked if we needed anything else. It wasn't until then that he informed us that there would be an upcharge for butter. I would definitely give them another chance. I couldn't decide on which po'boy and got two halves. One crawfish and the other fried oyster. My companions also ordered the boudan balls as an appetizer. All of our meals came prompt, hot and quite tasty. The po'boys had just the right mix of veg to meat and the buns were perfect for the support role. Driving past you might think this is a strip mall fish shop. Stepping in, you might think it's more a sports bar with a restaurant. Tasting the food and you will know they got it right. I'm always in search of a great Fried Shrimp Poboy, fully dressed, of course. Galvez Seafood fulfills all of my requirements, and then some. Firstly, this poboy is overstuffed with perfectly golden fried shrimp. Not greasy, not overdone, well seasoned. Secondly, the tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and mayo are always fresh. Finally, and maybe most importantly, the poboy french bread it's served on is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. I had a turkey burger and wanted raw onions added. Guess what? 79¢ extra for 2 raw onion rings! So I wonder how much bbq sauce 2-oz servings they get out of a bottle? So I also wonder how many onion rings they can get from 1 raw onion. minimum of 200? so for every onion for the "add onions to a burger" request, they make $79 an onion? Not a bad way to rip people off? the bad part is that they don tell u when u order of the extra cost. This place food was ok. I ordered the stuffed seafood potato it was Luke warm( cold), and not very much sauce, so I asked if it could be heated up. It was heated up, but then the sauce evaporated. I asked if I could have more sauce, the waitress said the manager, said it would be a extra charge. In the meantime waiting for the sauce my food is getting cold "again" from the waiting of the extra sauce for the dry potato. The manager final give my food 10% off, but not off of the whole bill. I will not recommend this place or should I say the manager of this place need to respect that the customer should come first, and to please them, so that they will continue to spend their money with him because there are a lot of places that would have loved the business (money), that was spent on a cold hard potato. read more

Ordered thru waitr. I ordered two half &half platters one with a loaded baked potato. I got no toppings for my potato. It was simply a warm dry potato wrapped in foil. The shrimp were over cooked and fishy. No silverware to eat with either. I contacted both Waitr and galvez seafood company and got no help either way. I asked the restaurant for a refund and they refused since the food was delivered. This company doesn't stand behind the quality of their food. This was supposed to be a treat for us to order seafood today and I chose Galvez seafood company over all the others and for that our special treat was ruined. I'll never order from them again and don't recommend anyone else do either. My family & I come in every week and usually have a decent time. We get the same server most of the time (which is okay with us because she is always wonderful and never leaves us waiting) but this time we come in and have 5 in our group. (Usually have more, not a big group correct?) well the hostess told us it would be about 10-15 min wait for us, which was not a problem! As we waited not only did I see an option for them to push a table together not once but TWICE. The girls were obviously too busy talking to one another than to actually work and push two tables together. She was just waiting for one of the big tables to come open. I honestly think she forgot about us or just didn't care. I have worked in a restaurant and this isn't how you will keep your guest in your restaurant. But when we finally got tired of waiting, we just stood up and left, as the hostess and servers just looked as us as they were in shock.
