Almost a great alternative to GameDude. Staff here have great customer service skills, but not quite the extensive library as GameDude; however, GameDude lacks customer service. I'd certainly recommend visiting this place first before GameDude as the friendlier alternative. If Game Portal maintains its excellent track record and some adjustments are made to the dull atmosphere, it will dethrone GameDude as the place to go for local in-store ventures for oldschool games. LOVE this place, such a hidden gem in this shopping mall. If you're into vintage oldies this is the place. We came here in search of a GameCube and some old games and got everything that we needed. There was only one guy working while we were there, didn't get his name but he was super helpful and was honest in giving us advice since they sell used items. I purchased two game cube controllers from these guys. Paid cash and did not receive a receipt. One is not working. Tuesday Morning, I called in to inform them of the situation and spoke to their manager Matt. He was extremely rude and spoke with an incredibly hostile tone. Initially, He refused to work with me all together because I didn't have my receipt. After having to come up with alternative solutions myself, he agreed that if I remembered what day I came in, "maybe" he could help me. (I purchased them on the prior Thursday. Only 6 days ago). Meanwhile heavily implying that they test ALL controllers and that mine is probably not defective/damaged. He claimed that they have "thousands of sales a day, and that there was NO way they could locate the sale in their system. I honestly hope that business is truly that healthy. I hate writing bad reviews, and I am a small business owner myself so I understand that this can really hurt a business. But you cannot run a business this way. I am not going to bother going in for my refund. I'd rather take the loss of $25 than go in and deal with that caliber of customer service. Have a talk with your manager and let him know that this level of service is subpar. Despite an online dominant market, I still try and support the local Brick and Mortars. But please understand that the customers coming into your store are a special type of person. We understand that it costs more to have a physical shop. But in return, we expect a positive human experience. read more

everything was great I loved the experience of shopping there with my girlfriend until one problem... the ultimate problem. the game had a ring like they get when people shake their consoles and it was all scratched up. we stupidly wondered why we didn't look or why he didn't show us :/ it was a pre-owned game but I figure they play it before they buy it. it was bio shock and it was only 5 bucks with the BOGO deal but it still sucked and we had thrown out the receipt already. so I give it a 5 star for customer appreciation but I have to knock off a star for buying something I can't use. this game store is nice little place, they have all games for different systems here. they have games for: PS3, x-box 360, PSP vita and many others, and even old games like PS1 and NES! :) ...but i would be aware of buying games from here though, some of the used games don't come with instructions and makes it hard to play them! you need to check inside if it has manuals or not, but the owner doesn't like it when you try to peek inside them or open them! i guess it's a "buyer beware" kind of thing? read more

This place is amazing! It was really great being able to go to a retro game store where the employees know about all the old school games/consoles. I came in with the intent to purchase a N64 and of course they had a couple in stock! Obviously I purchased it and I was lucky enough to get a copy of Super Smash Bros. too. Got in a huge argument with Arthur over a mistake his employee made. The Police had to be called, it was ugly and unfortunate. Arthur said he could not honor what his employee said because he would lose money. He said he would need to charge the employee or fire him. Well, the only one that lost money was a 10 year old boy. I told my son to purchase a video game from Game Stop, but the employee said there would be no risk in buying a video from Game Portal. I spoke to him and felt comfortable. But when we came in to return a game, the employee was not there and Arthur said that it didnt matter what his employee said, he was the owner and he wasnt going to lose $40. If thats the way Arthur is going to treat his customers , I will happily go else where and tell as many people that I can to do the same. read more

There are very few game stores left with the ability to actually make a deal, buy retro games and actually get value for your trade ins. Game Portal does all of the above with friendly, accommodating staff. Their selection of current generation may not be as extensive as their retro selection but you can go anywhere for PS4, XBONE and Wii u games. Game Portal is now my go-to-store for any Gameboy, Genesis, N64, etc. I walked in with no intentions of buying anything and walked out with the best deal I could imagine. The employees who have been here, 9 times outta 10 really friendly, their classics are of a decent collection to look at, their prices are pretty steep at times. A lot of the newer disk based game boxes are either missing artwork, scuffed as hell or super dirty, or just not worth it. Everytime I walk by I just see 2 aisles with Wii and 360 boxes missing the boxart with sale stickers all over them, that isn't attractive at all. Business must be slow when they have to open up a phone repair business on the side in there as well. Hopefully it'll turn around someday. read more
