I've never been or even heard of this place. It's spring cleaning time which we found some old game consoles that's been tucked away in storage. Years since I've last played any kind of videos games. Plus I'm not a gamer so if the cleaning didn't happen, I'm sure it'll still have been put away. Instead of just trashing, they were still in great condition. We found this place, called them to see if they would buy old consoles which they do. It's in a little strip mall with a couple parking spot. Walked in and the first thing you see are video games and more videos games. Literally any kind of consoles and the massive selection of games on deck was insane. Like I said, I'm not a gamer but if you are, I'm sure you'll have loads of fun. There was two section, first was the video games areas. Glass counter filled with games of all sort. Old school Nintendo , Gameboy, and whatever consoles else there were. Loads and loads of video games. The other section seemed to have loads of games as well but also served the collection of cards. Instead of your baseball cards, there were Pokémon and more. Also a few arcade games which I don't know if it was for purchase of use. Everyone working was very sweet and friendly. They checked to see if the consoles still worked which they did. Also we had some games which they took as well. I didn't expect much of it as they were old school but we did get some cash out of it. If it wasn't a go with them, we would have just tossed or donated them. But glad to find out that this places does buy old video games consoles and it's a massive collection of items. First time back in a long time and would pretty much consider myself a new customer in this encounter. The Game I wanted was sealed and had a tare in the seal. Price on the spine was 5 bucks cheaper than on the cover (double priced) figured it was because of the tare. Before seeing the cover price i made a joke about getting a convention hook up. (There was a vido game convention at the time) and he didn't seem to respond very well. Whatever... at the register i relized there are 2 different price stickers and to my surprise the sales Rep wanted me to pay the higher sticker cost giving me poor attitude to top it off. I left soon after him saying "Thats not my price and you're more than welcome to leave the game." Maybe dude was having a bad day or mad he couldn't go to the convention. IDK. Just over all a bad experience. Im sure its a one off but I'll save my money when it come to this place. read more

Drove 2 hours to the store because I wanted to trade in some games for a pokemon box, when I asked about it the card shop owner decided to raise the sticker price by 200 even though I messaged the day before. I decided to check out some games instead but it was hard to find a worker to help me, when I got help the worker just seemed super unenthusiastic, like I ruined his morning asking for help. After that I decided to leave, on my way out a girl walked up to the register and only then did the worker decide to seem happy. Out of all the workers that I've talked to only 2 seem to actually want to help people, one of them being the owner. The only reason that this is not a 1 star is because the owner seems like a great guy and really takes pride in his shop. Unfortunately I will probably never come here again. read more

UPDATE: I went back on 08/12/23 to trade in my PS4 whichg has just been sitting around unused, a couple of controllers and some games. They asked me if I wanted cash or store credit. I opted for store credit since i was planning on buying more games. I got $250 in store credit and turned around and used that to buy a bunch of NES/SNES titles. What I had wasn't going to go for much more than that if I tried to sell it online myself based on comporable listings. At that point I would be spending money on shipping on top of ebay and paypal taking their cuts...so to me this trade in was fair. With the store credit, I got Zelda, California Games, Rad Racer, Excitebike, Skate or Die, and Mike Tyson's Punch Out for the NES (Cartridge only). I also got Cybernator & Super Mario World (Cartridge only), as well as Spiderman (CIB) and Super Battleship (CIB) for SNES. All the games work without issues. Since these were going to be played regularly, i didn't care much about cosmetic appearance as long as they worked...but damn if Punch Out isn't a pretty clean cartridge! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I found Retro Respawn while running a google search for retro video game stores near me, so I stopped by for the first time 2 weeks ago. So much nostalgia and so much stuff! When I walked in, they were busy with at least a half dozen customers (with more coming in) plus they were stocking games.....so many games! They have wall to wall games for almost any console/handheld. Some are cosmetically clean, while others are a bit worn looks wise but they all still work! They also have CIB (complete in box) and sealed games. They also have a ton of graded & loose Pokemon & YuGiOh cards, as well as some sealed booster packs and tins of Pokemnon Cards. The guys at the shop were really cool. Friendly bunch who love games & were very helpful. They had a bunch of consoles for sale too, but I was mainly there for Nintendo games. Picked me up 3 NES titles (Paperboy, 1942 and Rad Racer), plus a factory sealed ToysRUs VHS Promo of Majora's Mask for N64. Those used to play on the TVs in the video games section at ToysRUs back in the day. prices were fair on everything I bought. read more

I came here to sell a couple of games that I had for a while. A few of them were sealed original and in new mint condition and a few of them were used. The guy who I wanted to sell it to offered me $100 flat for 7 games which at first I thought was a low ball offer. While walking out I figured maybe I can try to get an offer for the used video games that I wanted to sell possibly half since he was initially offering me 100 for all the games. That minute when I said how about for the used open games he quoted me with only $15 for the 3 games. At that very moment I was skeptical and I noticed he was trying to hustle me. When I then said I just want to sell these two games he just dismissed me with a rude condescending attitude and said "have a good day I will pass" while waving his hand in a shoo motion. I think he was upset that I didn't fall for his low ball offer and decided he doesn't want to deal with me anymore hahaha. I'm not stupid to get ripped off that easily. I'll just stick to Game Portal in Burbank or Game Dude. This place is a waste of time and has a bad vibe particularly the guy with the orange beanie he was unprofessional and very rude during the whole process. To the owner of this establishment, maybe train your employees to offer better service and negotiations rather than being low ballers and rude attitude to customers that way you get more business in the long stretch. Y'all saved my wallet and lowkey my sanity! Been having a hard time getting back into the ps3 with many sites putting me on back order or straight up giving me the run around. My girl and I called like 20+ stores to see if they had the fat one of our dreams and no one seemed to give us much hope until we hit this one. Spoke to Dillon on the phone and it made us more than willing to make the hour and change drive from the oc to the valley. Once we got there there was an ungodly amount of consoles at very good prices and better still games the world over with no console having more emphasis in placement. He was very helpful and even tried his best to make sure it was the system we wanted. Ended up leaving with like 5-6 games plus the system for the same price I would've paid for the console (300 and change) elsewhere with no guarantees for thermal age and cleaning. This is a great mom and pop and deserves more love. We'll definitely be repeat customers as long as they stay around and we make trips to the area. This dude is definitely on his high horse...I walked in and there were a bunch of his friends there and instead of getting greeted, I get a stare down over his shoulder. Plus the store was like 90 degrees and super unorganized. It honestly looked like a straight hoarders house. Not very welcoming. I ignored that fact and still wanted to look around. EVERYTHING is over priced. Way above market value. As a reoccurring customer since near the opening day, I still believe the prices for certain things are pretty fair, especially for the common games, anything else that is hard to get, complete in box, or overall a unique item, they are priced to what they are worth. The employees are kind and ask if the customer is looking for anything, or needs any help, sometimes employees may be talking with other employees, which may cause a customer to be waiting to ask a question, and or wait to check out, but that does not happen all of the time. Excellent service and pricing at this store. I found retro respawn on Instagram and was looking for a very specific item and I called in and to my surprise they had it. When I arrived I was helped by Horacio and the owner Dylan helped us negotiate a good deal for the consoles I was trading for the item I wanted to buy. Even the controller I got with the console I bought was defective and they reduced the value of that for a brand new in box controller. I have purchased a Backward compatible PS3, and a few ps2 games so I can play on it. Also picked up a few games since then. I have been to a few different retro game stores in the valley and the trend I've noticed about the employees at those stores is that they seem to hate their lives and they treat you in a way where you know it.
