I am sure PBS inspired my love of history as well. Some of my favorite shows are/were The History Detective, Finding Your Roots, Antique Roadshow, Are You Being Served and many more. My all time favorite shows are Keeping Up Appearances. That is one of the funniest shows of all time. I can watch that all day. Back in the early nineties in ATL remember watching Opera Singers Jessie Norman and Kathleen sing Negro Spirituals that was unforgettable. I bought the CD of this performance. This show will move your soul. Some of it is on You Tube. I highly recommend it. So no doubt PBS has been life changing for me and hope it stays around for future generations.

I could go into great length of all the shows that were viewed in my household from Mister Roger's Neighborhood, and Sesame Street when my children were young. As the ages present in my household changed so did the viewing of programs. My husband has been a fan of This Old Housr and Ask This Old House. I have spent countless hours glued to the TV watching Antique Roadshow and NOVA. Of course we have also enjoyed a variety of Great Performances and even get a kick out of watching The Lawrence Welk Show remakes. PBS has programs for all ages. I recommend checking out the offerings by your PBS station and see if you too can find at least one show of interest to you. PTV Network in Monterey Park is the exclusive US office for Zhong Tian (CTi) TV, straight outta…read moreTaiwan (also "subtitled" with Republic Of China, abbreviated as R.O.C, and sometimes fondly referred to by proud pro-independent expats as "TAIWAN ROCs, MUDDAFUGGAZ!!") PTV I suppose deals only with the TV service media companies/providers, so you can't deal with them directly, except through your cable or dish network or satellite TV provider. I'm sure these guys are also responsible for the local TV commercials for nearby businesses (all of them within the Monterey Park, Arcadia, San Gabriel). In the San Francisco Bay Area, one can subscribe to Zhong Tian via ComCrap, channel 243. However the monthly fee this wonderful cable provider charges (about the opportunity cost of a shade over a $10 BJ on the East side, or about 4 to 5 Egg McMuffins), they "throw in" Channel 244 which is CCTV if I remember correctly, a mainland China cable station. I don't watch Ch 244 as the content does not appeal to me, but 243 has a real wide variety of content, from the mundane, to the mildly interesting, and then to the useful, the funny, the cool, and some real whacked up shit. Zhong Tian bills itself as a TV channel (subscription cable at least in Taiwan alone) that specializes in variety. However the choice of programming ironically offered through BombCrap cable, says otherwise. Interestingly PTV and ComCrap don't localize the TV commercials, so you're getting Southern Cal Chinese businesses commercials shown on SF Bay Area Ch 243. Does me no good. Here's a sample of programming that Zhong Tian has offered via Bombcrap from the past 5 years. The mundane: I don't know about you but when I'm paying through my ass for cable content with a special package that includes this channel, I'd like to see MORE variety. Maybe BombCrap is to blame, as the same 3 to 4 shows are repeated on Saturdays and Sundays. This FKKKs up the guide as I set to record a show on series and it counts the repeats as well, or some shows that occur once a week for some reason I can't double click to series record. The useful: Travel shows, such as hosts from Taiwan travel to different parts of China. Some ladies might like a few of the "girly tawk" kind of shows that deal with relationship issues to beauty to skin care to fashion tips (some are DIY that would make Forever 21 look hip....) The funny: One of my favorites is "Big Brother of Entertainment", a local talk show variety host by the name of Zhang Fei. He's a superb entertainer, makes up schtick on the spot, is superbly comedic and especially perverse when he has a bevy of ladies on his show (with the camera man always zooming in on the chests and legs...). He's like a Taiwanese Benny Hill with some Johnny Carson presence. Celebs often appear on the show to perform or to promote, and ditto for local talent from gymnastics, chefs, magicians and the ilk. The cool: a show called Taiwan Oprah who I thought was the transsexual, but is actually someone else. Her format may be similar to that of the American Oprah, and interviews famous Hong Kong and Taiwan celebrities, but goes beyond the surface and digs deep into personal issues, childhood memories and even finds friends and contacts from their past to appear as secret guests. The food shows (far and few between these days) are always interesting, going to regional places in Taiwan and sampling local delicacies, from a simple vendor to shops/restaurants/stalls that span 100 years or more. The whacked up shit: Red Storm....a show that I thought was the "Oprah" of Taiwan. Well maybe he/she claims to be. It's Li Ching, a person born as a dude who now identifies as a woman and dresses as one. I have no idea if she is a transvestite or a pre/post op transsexual, but really tries to act sisterly with the female guests. All I can say is that her voice is very very deep.... On some days she can look respectable and pass off as a woman. And on other days, it is totally no so hot, but major Tranny Mess. The best of them all? I'd say the local news broadcasts that are sometimes streamed live. Not only do you have politics, entertainment and local news and the ilk, but the news format is a bit of a variety show in itself with a strong theme in sensationalism. Some of the stuff that passes for news coverage is quite embarassing these days, that range from a 65 year old grandma wearing skimpy Forever 21 whore it up clothing to help sell street food, to a dude in his 50s being clubbed by his neighbor because he got into a heated verbal dispute with him as to who was the better presidential candidate (another example of people overly passionate about their politics and willing to choke a bitch over a disagreement). Hey it's their world, not ours.

This company is the US subsidiary of Zhong Tian TV from Taiwan. I don't think it produces its own…read moreprograms in the US. It only has a very short section about local Chinese American news that is made locally in an office suite (not really a studio). I visited the office once. It primarily broadcasts and plays the news and entertainment programs from ZTV of Taiwan. I think they run a very efficient and lean office here, unlike ETTV (competing Tung Sheng TV). It is Channel 65 in my area. The quality of the ZTV news is very good, one of my favorite sources for getting Taiwan and China news. BTW, ZTV was acquired by Want Want Group, a Chinese food conglomerate owned by a Taiwanese, last year, along with China Times Daily. Since then, I noticed that the programming quality has improved quite a bit.

In his "past life," Brad was the miracle genius behind the programming that took many terribly failing commercial AM-FM stations, and brought them back to the top. Big bucks go to the very few people who can do it. He took that ear and intuition for great standards, new and old performers, and put Martini in the Morning on the air. It's his station. Some call it a jazz station. I suppose that's somewhat true, but it's best to tune it in www.martiniinthemorning.com and see how you would define it. Let me know. Well I can attest that Suzanne Sena is neither and is in fact a diamond in the rough here in Hollywood. I'm beyond and I mean BEYOND thrilled that my [poor] eyesight could spot her because she has truly changed my life! Suzanne Sena is no stranger to Hollywood, she is a seasoned professional with an IMDB page bursting with impressive credits. With such a diverse acting and TV hosting background (TV Host training being her foray), there is no doubting Suzanne's expertise when it comes to the world of Hollywood. When I first met Suzanne, in one of her free introductory classes, I was instantly drawn to her. Her professionalism, yet friendly demeanor is extremely attractive and you can tell right away that she is truly dedicated to wanting to help others achieve their goals. Because I like to be the center of attention... Yes, yes I do, I decided to work with Suzanne in a private setting. Suzanne has two extremely professional studios equipped with teleprompters, cameras and TV monitors so you can watch yourself back (because watching yourself is one of the only ways you will get better - so I have learned from Suzanne). One of her studios (which I wrote a review of here: http://bit.ly/1xq1b8I) actually has the capability of teleporting you to anywhere in the world, or in other words, has a green screen and an amazing computer generating system that can transport you wherever your heart desires (perfect for when you're ready to create your host reel). When I meet weekly (if not more) with Suzanne, I am confident that my jaw will be tired by the end of each session because she makes sure to utilize the time to its utmost by exercising your on-camera skill. Suzanne is not only an ace at helping you perfect your on-camera dexterity, but she's also an amazing mentor. Since she has truly been through it all, there is no question, that you might have, that will go unanswered. If you're having a problem, feeling down in the dumps, don't know what to do about a certain job, just feel like venting or need a boost in your confidence, Suzanne always knows what to say to make you feel on top of the world once again. I am 100% confident when I say that Suzanne Sena is phenomenal and it would be a complete mistake not to sign up for classes or private sessions with her. I know that if I did not decide to work with her, I probably would have moved home [yikes!]. I have worked with a multitude of other hosting coaches here in Hollywood and none of them have given me the education on what it takes like Suzanne. If I ever win an award... Basically, anyone looking to become an on-camera host or television personality needs the training that Suzanne provides. I'm not a shy guy and I'm comfortable speaking in front of groups. But when I worked on camera, something was wrong. I just didn't come off right. Enter Suzanne. She worked to teach me how to optimize my strengths and fix problems that I didn't even realize that I had. I'm still a work-in-progress, but I'm on a whole different level after learning from Suzanne. I definitely recommend her training.

Bill Burr has been producing his Monday morning podcast since 2007 and ladies and gentlemen let me tell you Bill tells you how it is. His podcast is heavy on the profanity and but also there is an endearing quality. Yes it's gritty raw and apologetically vulgar but at the same time Burr is as sensitive to the issues as he is crude. Burr is one of the most well rounded comedians performing today. He's a real comedian's comedian. He holds a mirror up to society. Burr is able to wade through the bullshit of every day drudgery of life and extract the funny and present it to you in a hilarious one hour podcast dubbed the Monday Morning Podcast. It's well worth the download.The podcast is mostly ranting and going off on hot headed tangents but damn it's funny. The slogan of his podcast is "Go F*ck yourself!!!" Now who doesn't love that? I love everything about him. He shares a lot about himself with his listeners. Bill spends a great deal of time talking sports, football, baskets ball hockey and the like. He also reads fan emails and gives love and relationship advice. Burr has gained a lot of notoriety for himself and has appeared in Breaking Bad as Kuby the Late Show with Conan O'Brien and the Chapplle Show..
