Dusting my old Yelp account off to give a local store some well deserved props. Roughly six months ago my 4 year old son and I stopped by on a random weekend. The place was packed! The owner (super busy due to the event that was ongoing) still found the time to make me and my son feel extra welcome. He even gave my son a Space Marine mini! So I stopped by last week having found a few moments to dive into a new hobby. Again, the customer service was top shelf. Very knowledgeable and provided me with all the options available to me as a point of entry. Off a glance, you can tell this location is run by a staff of one. Devoted to his dream of having a successful shop and building a strong and friendly player base. Supporting him in that goal is the least I can do for the offered free assistance in building / painting my minis and finding games which will be a bit more noob friendly. I'll be happy to return and feed my newly formed addiction, and hope this location sticks around for years to come. read more

This is the best GW/Warhammer shop in Orange County. The staff is always friendly and very helpful to our new players.

Very awkward hours that are hard to catch. Even if they say they're open, often times the doors will be locked. They also have tables to play games inside, but there are only 3, and it's first come first serve. Very difficult to find an open slot. read more

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this store anymore due to poor customer service. Twice I had special editions ordered through the store, but the manager failed to contact me that the store is ready. One of the orders were lost and could not find it. Twice, the manager says he will try to look into it, but did not contact me back. I was already busy with work and kid so I forgot about it for many months until now. I exclusively now buy them online or a nearby hobby shop. Michael is great. Very helpful, knowledgeable, and welcoming. My son and I go into the store frequently and Michael is always ready to help us figure out the right paint schemes, find hard to find models, or just discuss 40K gaming topics. He seems to always know the answers we're looking for. And if he doesn't, on the rare occasion it happens, he diligently searches to find it for us. The selection in store is good, especially for painting supplies. And when we are looking for a model he doesn't have in stock, he helps us order it and it comes quickly. The prices are good, especially on paints. I also love the fact that Michael has open gaming tables, special painting sessions and lessons, family days, and many other community activities that bring like-minded gamers and families together. This is a very well run store and we are grateful to have a Games Workshop location so close to home. read more

I been to this store through long enough for years to see at least 3 managers come & go. It seem Game Workshop is not bother train their employees, just toss wallet down and call it a day. The 1st guy who been there for ages was Christ, always stand behind counter without saying a word, the store is run down, AC not work but door constantly close like oven. Didn't care much about store, only care you buy from him, he push sale the moment you ask question. The store decline until they fire him. 2nd black girl Courtney act like Inquisitor jailor, regulate the store to a fault, "you can't do this, you can't do that, you have to play this, you must play that" Kill Team ONLY! Who trained this girl? It got so bad people called HQ to complain so they fire her. 3rd Guy was Daniel, awesome guy, host event every week, include holiday multiple players mega battle. He's so good they promote him to diff store, so he's meant to leave anyway. 4rd guy, his name Michael I heard, well we're back to 1st guy attitude. This expensive hobby deserve better. I'm not a gamer nor know anything about Warhammer. But my 11 years old son is so passionate and into the game. I take him to the piano studio next door on Sundays and he always begs me to let him stop by Warhammer store. He started to be fascinated with the game since he was 10 years old, but I didn't approve him get into the hobby since it is a very expensive hobby; and I have a very busy schedule that I cannot commit to have time to take him to the store and spend hours with him there. After visitting the stores many times, I talked to Michael, the manager there, about our situations and my concern about letting my son get into the hobby and he has no one to play with. Michael was friendly and helpful and assured me that I can drop off my son at the store and pick him up after. My son is much more mature than normal 11 years old kids, so I trust him to stay in the store and hang out there until I pick him up. The end on May, after getting honor rolls student the whole year of his 5th grade, I decided to reward him with the starter kit Michael recommended us, the Warhammer 40k. I have dropped him off total of 4 times the last 2.5 months. He would assemble and paint all the characters at home since I don't have much time to bring him to the store. But I tried to bring him in the store so he can hang out and connect with people who have the same interests with him. And yesterday when I picked him up, Michael told me that from now on he has to bring the project in order to go in the store !? He implied my son bothers him and other guests there. Knowing my son, a very curious and smart kid, he would have a lot of questions, and as a 11 years old boy, he would ask away all the questions he has, and it is understandable that it could be overbearing. I wish Michael talked to me about the issues and ask me to talk to my son instead of bluntly came out and said that my son will need to bring a project in order to go into the store from now on. Does it mean I will continue to spend a lot of money for more models so my son can be allowed to go into the store!? I was very disappointed after Michael talked to me, and I regretted of trusting Michael and allowing my son to get into the hobby. I feel bad for my son who keeps begging me to take him to the store so he can play the game with someone, yet I cannot continue spending and buying more and more models just so he can go into the store. Does anyone know any other store similar like this so I can bring my son there? I just hope other place's managers would be more patient and understanding kids more than Michael is. A great little shop for starting a big hobby, Games Workshop Westminster Center was a great place for me to start my dive into Warhammer. With a prepared wallet and little to moderate research I walked in with the expectation of being sold an overwhelming amount of product. Not only was I given an introduction to the game, I also received an in-depth synopsis of each faction. It made it easier to make my first purchase and you can count me in as a regular customer. Originally I was told to avoid this store for its pushy attitude for sales, but I can say confidently say that I was nurtured in a direction that made my transition into the hobby smoother than others. As much as I love games workshop, this store is a poor representation of the hobby. Every time I visit during normal store hours, the staff here is on lunch or the store is closed. There's no communication whatsoever from the team on Google or Yelp or by answering machine that their store is going to be closed. It's incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. As soon as my friends and I enter the shop, we were immediately greeted by Daniel. He was very helpful and friendly answering all our questions. We are new to the community and it was great how friendly everyone in the shop was. Everyone playing games there were excited to see new members, and ask us questions on who our armies were. No entrance or use fee. You just need to find an open table to play. And those tables are large, 4' x 8', each one with different gaming lands. They also have other pieces available that you can place on the table to personalize the configuration. There are over 20 tables for people to use, as well as a workshop table where people work on their gaming and model figures. Did I mention that this area is FREE to use? While I'm not a gamer that plays these types of games, this shop (and I've seen a couple of other similar stores) seems to be run well by the staff and has an enthusiastic group of game players. Feel free to ask the staff for ANYTHING. Super knowledgeable, helpful and nice. Went into the store the other day to see if I could pick up a game. Unfortunately there was no one around to play. I did notice a huge difference in the store though. The shelves are much better stocked and it's looking like it's getting in order. The manager, Courtney, was friendly and we chatted about some of the changes she planned for the store, from painting classes, tournaments, to campaigns (40k/AoS/KT). I've been to other GW stores that have even less real estate to work with and they make it work. This manager seems motivated to turning this store around. This is probably the worst run store in all the one I have visited. The store is depressing and always gloomy. This store is run by 1 manager (more like 1 saleman/cashier) The manager never looks happy. The manager always give you that dark awkward look (the look "buy something fast"). The place is 89 degrees and it affects the mood of the room. The aggressive dictating manager tells you what to buy and what to play only makes the environment worse. Honestly, do Gameworkshop even train their employees in customer service? I've seen McDonald treat customer better than this. The manager constantly annoy you on what to buy while hints arrogance when you ask other questions. Wait, so... they want us to spend hundreds dollars on their expensive plastic models?..... would you feel like buying it? especially with rude store manager? Notice how all of the good reviews are from 3+ years ago? This place used to be a huge center for the WHF and WH40K community in the area but has since condensed into an area one third the size, eliminating its huge room of gaming tables. I asked "why the downsize?" last time I was in and the lone guy working there told me it's because GW wants to open MORE stores and offered an example of the newer store in FRESNO. Im not 100% certain but I don't think a big, fun store in Westminster was draining the hobbyist pool up in ol' Fresno and preventing expansion. Also, their hours of operation are greatly reduced and several times I've run into them being closed when they should be open. I don't even know how they would have room for all the tournaments, leagues, painting and terrain workshops they used to run... but even if they do, it's a really sad shadow of what they used to be. You can still buy all of their expensive stuff at MSRP and they're fairly well stocked but instead I take my business to one of the best local shops around in Garden Grove for better prices, better staff and some fun. Don't let all of the OLD Yelp pictures fool you, their huge gaming space and sweet tables are gone. read more

Yes, another dork review, my apologies. Games Workshop has been making 28mm miniatures and tabletop miniature games for about three decades. They started out strictly as a miniatures company to fill a niche for all the folks that played D&D and wanted quality miniatures. Then the got into producing games using their own mini's, a number of 'speciality' games, as well as a line of model paint. Their 'main line' games consist of Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40,000 (called WH40K, their sci-fi universe) and Lord of the Rings (yes, they got the licensing from New Line and whoever else and figured to release minis in 25mm). The GW stores run weekly events, such as painting class, how to build armies and other such dorkiness. They also have a huge room devoted to gaming, with ~20 tables stocked with terrain. If you've seen model railroad layouts, you might see what I'm getting at. They also have some painting stations, so you can work on a project while at the shop. Employees are all knowledgeable about their games; you can always has questions or kibitz with 'em ("Back in 2nd edition 40K I had a Eldar pirate on a jetbike with a bionic leg, bionic eye, power sword and a vortex detenator..."). A couple of people (Isaac in particular) was a regular customer who ended up working there (just like the Hair Club for Men president). The Bunker is in the mall complex, close to the 405 and some eateries within walking distance. I'll get the hours when I swing by and play a Blood Bowl match today. read more

Great store! I took my two sons today. We were all greeted warmly by the staff member and had all of our questions answered. I really appreciated the fact the staff member took time to listen to, and engage, my ten year old who can be quite the inquisitive young man. That is a big plus in my book. My sons really enjoyed viewing the gaming tables and the painted miniatures. Product selection is just like any other Games Workshop location and we found what we needed/wanted. We do not live in the area but plan to visit again the next time we are in town. Customer service is top notch (as I have found to be the case in all GW stores) and I hate to say it, the exception rather than the norm these days. My first experience here was very good. Questions are answered well by a staff who all obviously play the game quite a bit, and the experience in the front room of the shop is clearly tailored for newbies. The back of the shop, which dwarfs the front, is all about playing the games that are for sale here. If you're into GW's miniatures, chances are you already know this is a serious mecca in the area.
