I was considering starting up a new 40k army after not playing for over 7 years. Everyone I knew that plays has moved out of CA. I was excited to go back to this store because they always had a huge area for people to set up games when I was actively playing. I was disappointed to find that not only was the store closed, but they also removed the entire "bunker" for gaming. Nowhere to play any games means I won't be starting a new army or playing again. As much as I love going here and working on my mini's, the store manager, James has a tendency to be really loud and obnoxious he really kills the vibe of the store and uses pressure selling to get you to buy stuff which I find very annoying. I usually try to go in when he's not there or ignore him and tune him out when he is. Besides that, the staff is really helpful and knowledgeable if you have questions or need help with putting things together or need some pointers with painting your mini's. If you're looking for a hobby and like gaming this is def something to check out. read more

This place has done an complete change. I got out of the hobby but the new manager Daniel and this shop reeled me back in and couldn't be happier. There always seem to be several games going and some hobbyist working on there minis. The shop has a totally different vibe and is now filled with cool chill people playing the game or hobbying. The manager Daniel is extremely helpful and is helping me think about ways to build my army. I appreciate being able to have a store where I can do some hobbying and not have a pushy or creepy sales guy shadow me. read more

stopped in a little before closing time tonight because we were shopping at ross and as we were driving away, i remembered that i wanted to show my 9 year old the shop! when we walked in we were greeted very warmly by dave and he asked if we wanted to check out the free demo. my 9 year old went for it and i took the opportunity to check out the other room with tables and displays. it was MASSIVE. the painting on these little figures is so intricate and definitely something to check out. as i made my way back into the store area, i noticed how much dave loves his job and kept my boy busy. customer service like that is RARE these days and it's much appreciated! after the demo - which D (my 9 year old) WON :) he showed us a starter set for $60, not bad at all but we don't let the kids indulge unless it's their birthday or christmas... dave mentioned that if you buy everything seperate, the retail value would be $371 :EEK he also mentioned that D could come in and they would teach how to paint and play. i reminded D that he couldn't purchase anything until his birthday in may and dave gave him a free figure! we thanked dave and i made sure i grabbed a calendar. before we pulled away my husband noticed they close at 11PM on friday and saturday, how cool is that! This has been one of my all time favorite stores. I have been going here consistently for several years and have always found the easygoing friendliness of the store to be a plus. There are many regular gamers who frequent the store who are great sources of Warhammer gaming lore as well as rules clarification. Huge tables to play on, and great staff. I hadn't gone for a long time, and upon returning, the new employees were just as friendly and knowledgeable as the old staff. Had good conversation with staff and more than a few of the customers, and I love playing there. In terms of prices, it's been a little more, since the recent price boost, but you know what you're getting into price-wise with any GW product anyway. I ignore my local GW for anything beyond direct order and playing, since the service at the L.A. Bunker is much better and a friendlier atmosphere than my workshop. I make the trek from Tustin/Irvine up to the Bunker, which should help tell how worth it is to make the trip. I LOVE the Bunker! read more

Honestly this place has seen hell more times than I know, I arrived after it had been downgraded to half its size before the new store keeper took command. but since the new guy has been at the helm the store, the number of customers, the sense of wonder, and of course the quality. Has shot through the roof, now I go there every Saturday to enjoy the hobby that this store specializes in accommodating and propagating. The Battle Bunker is nerd heaven for "regular" guys. If you're a beginner, no one condescends to you or makes you feel stupid, it's very welcoming and everyone, staff, regular customers, veteran players, just want you to have as much fun with the hobby as they are - lots. They put on great events every day of the week that cover every aspect of the hobby. From tournaments to painting classes, to art competitions, they do it all; they revel in it. And you will too. I've been to Games Workshop stores all over the U.S. and even a couple in Spain, and the Bunker is Westminster is par excellence. The only GW store I like more is in Alamo, CA; over 500 miles away. If you play any GW games, are looking for a great hobby and new friends to enjoy it with, head down to the Bunker, you won't be disappointed. As for constructive criticism: Sometimes the staff is a little pushy as far as making sales. Which can be annoying, but is understandable. The place doesn't have Wi-Fi, and it should. I understand that this isn't Starbucks, but it's big enough, has a ton of customers, and people spend so many hours at a time here that free Wi-Fi for the customers seems justifiable. I'm here just about every weekend, I'm so glad this place is here and I'm happy to support it. read more

This is a great place. I belong to the St Crispin's Irregulars a local game hobby club. Our members have been coming here for couple of years now. We play the "Lord of the Rings" game every 1st & 3rd Friday night and have a blast. James the Mgr is wonderful and totally supportive. Kurt a staffer there is always smiling and helpful especially when it comes to "Lord of the Rings" The only minor thing that bums me is that some staffers over focus on WarHammer 40K. Especially when you have such great games as LOTR . But in general the staff is freindly and helpful. Take the time to ask them for help on building terrain and painting you will not find better anywhere. read more

Years ago, during the early Westminster Battle Bunker years, there was a manager by the name of Evan. He was a great guy who made this game enjoyable. It was a great place to game and share modeling idea's with like-minded modeler's. Fast forward to today and the Bunker is long gone--all that remains is a tiny, and constantly out of stock "one man" store staffed by a pressuring salesman that doesn't seem to understand the concept of people politely saying, "I'm just going to browse for a bit." He hovers over you like a vulture constantly yapping, "you should buy this" or "you really need to buy that." I know he's just doing what he's told to do by his superiors but all it does is create an uncomfortable setting. Another issue is that the models have become so ridiculously overpriced it's a wonder that Games Workshop hasn't gone out of business as a whole. Hardly anyone plays this game anymore and it's plain to see why. read more

Dude I'm all about the miniatures, seriously I love 'em, but I went in to get a model (Warhammer 40k) and I swear I have never been more hassled before my whole freaking life. Walked in and was immediately hounded about what i wanted to buy, if I wanted to get paint with it, if I wanted any game guides etc. I get they're trying to make extra cash for the shop but if i go in and tell you exactly what I want I don't expect to be treated like I have half-a-brain. Awesome store I just walked to take a quick look after seeing it so many times and ended up walking out with another great hobby to spend time on. The Staff are great at working with people and very friendly (instead of akward and weird like most businesses), when I came in an employee showed me the painting table and taught me how to paint the figures and showed me how to play the Lord of the Rings game on one of the Tables in the front room. I was really nervous at first and thought I might having a hard time picking it up, but staff explained it all easily and were very willing to help me and seemed to really enjoy what they do. I ended up picking it up faster than I normally do things and had a great time. I was walked through all the aspects of Warhammer 40k and shown starter sets for beginners and was asked if I would like to buy one, even though I explained i didn't have the money at the time they never pressured me and still showed me around more stuff, said i can keep the figure i painted and told me about the events. Definitely will come back and spend a whole ton of money on the starters sets, especially since thankfully my birthday is soon. Looks like a great place to hang out at all the time. read more

Clean store with a Ton of table space. The staff is extremely knowledgeable as well. If you need any product that GW carries, they have it there, or they can get it quite quickly. There is plenty of parking and lots of places to grab a bite to eat too. If there was one thing I could improve upon, it would be to add some chairs. read more
