This location is my back up location if the game that I want is out of stock at the other locations. This location always seems to have hard to find items in stock. The store is well organized and the workers are very helpful. Customer service for me every time I've been here is top notch. The workers have answered all my questions and have even offered me release dates of new and upcoming games that they might think I am interested in. They seem to have a lot in stock for all the different consoles. As I've said previously, this location seems to have stock when the other locations don't. Parking is plentiful at this location. I'm just so let down by this location. I wish I hadn't gone when I did. A situation occurred at this location where the clerk (Andrew, Brown Curly hair, bigger side) was working alone and was extremely rude and non-understanding to a younger then18 year old boy. The boy left and five minutes later his father comes with him and starts screaming/cursing at the clerk. The clerk cursed/threatened to fight him back and I was just there looking at games while all this was going on. The son pushed his enraged father out the store to deescalate tension and then came in after by himself this time. The clerk said this in response, "REALLY YOU BROUGHT YOUR DAD INSIDE, GET THE F*** OUT GET THE F*** OUT." This kid was probably 16... Two minutes later the clerk comes over to me and says, "Sorry about that, you didn't hear me curse or threaten him right?" At this point I'm just extremely uncomfortable by him putting me in this position to cover for him. I reluctantly said yes then tried to check out my games. When I'm checking out his manager comes in, and after awhile he says this to his manager. "We had a situation occur where I had to tell an angry dad to politely get out the store. This customer was super understanding and polite about the situation and saw me do the right thing, isn't that right?" I reluctantly just covered for him then got out the store. THIS WAS EXTREMELY UNCOMFTORABLE. I called GameStop support about this issue though I haven't gotten an email back with a form they promised I can fill out. Then I wanted to come in today, I called and asked a lady if Andrew was working today/Still employed at this location. She said "not at this moment" and couldn't provide me the employment details which I totally understand then I briefly described the situation and hung up. FIVE MINUTES LATER. GameStop rings me and it's Andrew's voice on the phone. I AM NOW FEARFUL FOR MY WELL-BEING NOW THAT HE HAS MY NUMBER. And with this review he'll unfortunately have my first and last name which I'm even more scared of. This individual has anger issues from what I witnessed and manipulated me into covering for his employment. Personally, I do not feel comfortable shopping at this location anymore. It's the closest near me, but I'd gladly drive farther to feel safe and away from Andrew. Super let down by Gamestop, if you have children or any small individuals I recommend shopping at a different location for safety and as well just proceeding with caution if you see a larger male with brown curly hair named Andrew working. read more

Got me all excited and I said well ok I'm going to be there!!! I go out of my way to go to gamestop at midnight and see no one there!! To be frank, I have mixed feelings as I write this review. I spent 15 min in line behind a young man that obviously had the hots for the young lady at the register. He spend the entire time asking her to look for 'this' and 'that' title; as he went on and on about how good he was at an endless list of games; then bragged about being in here 4 times in the past week alone; and how he can afford all the titles and game units because of the good job he has. If I could rate customers... 1 star baby!!! Or ask her out, maybe I'll throw you another store. That said, the young lady was kind, patient, unbelievably knowledgeable and stayed focused on answering his questions, upselling promotions and cross-selling based on his replies. She was obviously well trained and professionally pleasant (rare in Game Stops). The store was laid out well, merchandised effectively and kept clean. I have 7 kids (of them 6 boys ranging from 15 to 4) and I travel for a living, so I spend a lot of time in Game Stops across the country. As far as customer experience, I am a bit of an authority in that space, so I can assure you, this is a pretty well run shop. BTW, 4 out of 5 stars for the young lady not using a bit more savvy controlling the cash wrap and moving the gamer-Romeo along. Very well done Carmel Mountain. You mind lending out your store manager to some of the Northern California stores? The staff is friendly and makes sure to follow their policies. Unfortunately there was a horribly rude customer who was being very aggressive toward the manager, but she handled it well all while training the employee who was assisting me. It was my second time picking up a preorder from this location and they made sure to verify I was the member that ordered the game. Where else are you going to go to get the latest and greatest games? Gamestop is pretty cool. Yeah, I'm getting up there in age, but when I enter a Gamestop I feel like a kid again. I can't help it. As soon as I walk in, I hear the theme music to Mario Brothers playing in my head and a smile comes across my face and I feel like a kid again... ahhhh, memories :-D The selection of new games is decent and the prices are average. They have a huge used game selection with some at ridiculously low prices. You can also get used consoles there as well. The workers are pretty much game-geeks, so they can answer all the questions you have. I'd check them out if you are in the market for a new game. Bait and switch!!! I went to the store at 6:00 am on Black Friday to purchase the Playstation 4 for $199 which came with a $50 gift card. Guy behind the counter told me that they sold out YESTERDAY, even though the gift card promo was ONLY VALID for that day! The guy then offers to sell me a USED console without the gift card for the same price! Khol's, Best Buy, Costco and Target ALL had the console for the $199 price so I made my purchase elsewhere. The manager then advised me to purchase my video games at their store because their prices were cheaper than anywhere else. THAT IS A LIE and they knew it, since Target has tons of specials for PS4 games. read more

If I were to review this a year ago, it would have received four stars. Now, I'm giving it two stars. See, recently, this location has gotten a ton of new employees to replace the ones who head off to the University they were paying for. These new employees range from 16 to (i'm guessing) 46. A lot of them have no clue about games. Or too much of a clue. Let me explain all the experiences I've had with these new employees. 1. I was purchasing a some new game. The cashier was arguing with my mom( literally), stating how the machine won't let her use credit. I have been to this store enough times to know that it does. After he allowed her to try, thinking she would fail, it let her use credit. Hmm... why would I have more knowledge than the employee? 2. This happened on two occasions. Usually, my dad would pre order a game for me, and my mom would pick it up. However, there were two occasions where the employees would refuse to let my mom pick it up, even when she showed an i.d and insurance card. Usually after a while, they would let her pick it up (and I was there to watch, by the way). This only happens with two certain employees. All the others let her pick it up with no hassle. 3. This one was just humorous. I asked an employee if GTA5 was allowed to be pre ordered. He literally spent 3-5 minutes looking at the computer, looking confused. This other employee helped him out by pointing out where it said "not available." But that other employee... 4. That other employee did something that wasn't much of a bother, but still unneeded. I asked to pre-order the Max Payne 3 Collectors Edition. He then said, "Actually, it's the SPECIAL edition." I just went, "okay.". Big woop. 5.Some lady kept on trying to convince me to pre-order Mortal Kombat, Assassins Creed Revelations, and BattleField 3. This was earlier in the year. I pre-ordered AC and BF later in the year, but it wasn't because of her constant persuading. It's part of her job, I know. But when I say no to the first offer, I'm not going to say yes to the next two. 6. This next scenario happened over the phone. It honestly pissed me off, it went over the course of two days. Let me back track two months ago. I called Gamestop, asking for the MW2 xbox 360. It's that limited edition one from 2009, and they had one pre owned one left in stock. The girl said they had it and that I could put it on hold for the weekend. I declined, because I wasnt planning to get it until later. Fast forward two months, and I call them up again. The same girl answers. But she right away puts me on hold. For 30 minutes. Then I get disconnected. huh. I call back, and right before she puts me on hold, I say "I got disconnected last time." She denies this, and puts me on hold. 35 minutes later, 20 minutes before closing, I just hang up. I'm not waiting that long. The next day, I call back. What do you know, it's the same girl. Right before she puts me on hold, I tell her that she put me on hold twice for 30 minutes each yesterday, and how long this session will take. She tells me she's finishing up a transaction with a customer and there was no one in line. So I assumed it would take 30 seconds. 10 minutes later, she picks up. I ask her about that xbox, and she said she would check the system closet (even though that xbox has been behind the glass cabinet for over year.) She puts me on hold. 10 minutes later, she tells me that they do not have it anymore. So I ask her if they have the Dualshock 3 bundle that comes with a game (I gave her Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted as examples). She thinks I'm talking about PS Move Bundle. I clarify some more, stating how the controllers are either blue, black or red. She understands me, saying that they have the resistance bundle for 60$. My next question was if they had Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception in stock (It was sold out at some point). She makes me repeat the name a few times before she says yes, but not Used (like I asked). Finally, I ask if they still had the MW3 themed xbox 360 controllers, she says yes. I ask for the price, she says 60$. She then tells me that there's a huge line waiting in front of her, and she has to hang up. She hangs up. You know, I blame her for taking so long. But I also blame the manager for only putting one employee behind the counter, because its obvious that she was the only one working. I mean, she answered the calls on Saturday AND Sunday. And always had to put me on hold. Hm.. seems like they need to hire more people. Maybe this time, people that know what they are talking about. To put this simply, the original employees as I like to call them are pretty much gone except for a couple of people. Now, we have a bunch of kids working there that know less about the jobs than I do. People who obviously don't care about customer satisfaction, or respecting the consumers. I see that another reviewer had an issue with associate Anthony, so I feel the need to leave my experience here. I rarely come into these stores, but I accompanied my 13 year old brother to trade in games. Instead of the store credit, he chose to get cash back, which was a few dollars less in value. This part of the transaction went smooth enough. On the way out, my brother remembered that he wanted to buy something else. When we returned to the counter moments later, the associate addressed us without looking up from his task, as if we were interrupting him. When my brother asked to buy the item, the associate looked at us like we were idiots and VERY abruptly and rudely replied, "So...why didn't you get a store credit? Because that would have been more money". I couldn't believe he was so condescending. Before we could answer him, he said, "I see", sighed and proceeded with the transaction like it was an inconvenience. He then said, "In the future, you should get store credit." I was very upset that he spoke to us like this and I advised my brother not to go back to that location. I hope the other associates are friendly to their customers, because I would hate for other people to be treated like this. read more

Not a bad store, but the parking lot is something that even Dante couldn't envision in his 9th Circle of Hell. This place is usually not too busy, if you can get to it... I've never had a problem with employees, but I usually find the people that do seem to find them every where. My only caveat is not with the store, but with GS's buy back values. My son had 9 older titles to trade in. I looked up what it would cost to buy them used on GS's site and it was $125+. They offered me $22. Most pawn shop scum will offer at least 25% of what they think they can recover. Need I say more? . read more

I repeatedly told the clerk that I could obtain that latest version of a game console for $136 with a Cyber Monday special I had at another store and that I was only interested in trading in my old version of the device if I could get a bargain and pay $80 or less. I explained this repeatedly. The clerk told me that was about what I would pay if I bought a used copy of the latest version of the console while trading in my old version. So after completing paperwork, registering for a GameStop account, giving her my credit card and telling my kid that I thought we had gotten a good deal, I looked up at the register and it said $123. The woman explained that the $80 price was for the used copy of the latest version of the console, but that she had rung up the $114 for the refurbished copy of the latest version of the console. $123 included tax. Why did she ring up the refurbished console? Because they didn't have the used copy in the store. Bait-and-switch? Complete incompetence? A little of both? I don't know. He opened right on time, thoroughly explained downloading games vs. purchasing cd's...all while helping the UPS guy. We went to this store tonight around 7pm to buy an x-box controller for my son. There was one person in front of in line that was being helped and we were standing there for 10 minutes before the other associate who were just standing there came to help us. After my son asked for the item she said there is none in stock. I asked if they could order it for us and she asked the associate next to her and he said no. I asked when they're gonna get there next shipment and he said that they're not gonna order anymore ( and this controller is new and just came out). I asked the female associate if she could check and she if another store has it in stock and she said GameStop at north county mall does. We drive up there and they have none in stock!! They ordered online for us and said we gonna get it in about a week. I called the store on Carmel mountain rd and asked for the manager and guess what!? The manager was the same guy that told us he couldn't order it online and they're not ordering anymore of those. When i asked him why he sent us away when he could have ordered online for my son instead of sending us to north county mall, he had nothing to say Never shopping there again, they don't value their customers and are happy to just send them away. read more

Gamestop isn't too bad if you are looking for some video games. However the prices don't seem to keep up as well with big box retailers like Best Buy or Fry's. If you are looking for games that are old you can find some good deals. Especially the $5 and under bins they have for PS2 games. This location is usually pretty clean and well stocked. read more

While patiently waiting in line to buy one item, the cashier called the people in line after her to go first saying, "just let the adults go first". Closest place for a good selection of used games. It can be crowded on the inside, and even when it's not, the service can be slow. I understand how some customers get excited and like to talk about games, but when there are a lot of people in the store waiting to check out, the staff needs to know to quit talking (politely) and move on to the next customer.
