We searched a long time on Yelp and finally stopped at this Springfield Pizzaria based on good reviews. We all disagreed. I love thin crust pizza, but this was pretty bad. The people that got regular crust didn't like it either. The crust is like bland paperboard. Not flakey or flavorful at all. The baked sandwich was pretty good. Sante Fe salad was almost all iceberg lettuce, very light on other veggies. Would definitely recommend finding another place if you are passing through Springfield. read more

The thin crust was chewy, seemed undercooked yet burnt at the same time, and tasted like flour. The cheese had potential because it was a provel mixture, but it did not have much of a taste. The toppings did taste good and fresh, though. If you're looking for thin crust pizza, check out Cravin or Rosati's for superior dishes. I was with a large party and they seemed to love their food. Food: I would describe this as a close cousin of St. Louis-style pizza. I grew up in St. Louis and I was craving provel cheese pizza on thin crust with a sweet sauce. They nailed the crust and sauce, but use a Mozzerela/Provel blend instead. If you want Provel-only just ask. They will make it that way by request. Service: Friendly, but somewhat inefficient. We waited a few minutes in the lobby before we were acknowledged and told we could sit anywhere. It took 5-10 minutes to get a menu. We did get our pizza quickly once it was ordered. Also, our waiter brought my 3-year old a flower (it was Valentine's Day). That was nice and I appreciated it very much. read more

Years ago I lived close to Garbo's and frequented it often. I was looking forward to eating there again after recently moving back to the area but I have to unfortunately say, it will be my last time. At the recommendation of the server I ordered the tomato cream with penne pasta, my wife ordered a personal pizza. The pasta arrived cold and completely flavorless. The bread medallions were stale. I could have made a much better pasta at home using a cheap store bought cream sauce. The pizza had a decent flavor but was also cold and the crust soft, reminding me of the precooked crusts you get at a grocery store before reheating them. The service was fine but the food so bad I won't waste my money there again. Plenty of alternatives have come to Springfield in recent years and Garbo's has fallen way off pace. read more

This place has been a favorite of my parents and I for quite a while. They have great thin crust pizza with a really unique taste. The staff is prompt and funny and I've never had a pizza not come out piping hot. Really bad. I thought from all the positive Yelp reviews and the nice location in West Chesterfield, that this pizza joint might be a hidden gem. I was so wrong. We ordered a "southwest" salad to start which consisted of lettuce, olives, and occasional bits of chicken. Nothing southwest about it and not very satisfying. Unfortunately, we ordered a pizza, not knowing about "St. Louis style" pizza. Google it and you'll learn about the artificial goop known "provel cheese", nonexistent sauce, and a thin pre-formed cracker for a crust. It was just revolting. Even hungry after the gym I couldn't eat more than a few pieces before I gave up and went back to the crappy salad. Sadly, there are better pizzas in the freezer isle than Garbo's. St Louis style pizza has a strange midwestern cult following similar to cashew chicken. Advice - Stay far away from Garbo's if you love pizza. Go to Big Slice Pizza, Rosatti's, or Old Chicago if want a good pie in Springfield with real cheese and real crust. Hell, even Domino's or Papa John's are better bets... read more

Not impressed. called in our order when I got there waited 7~8 minutes before any one asked if I needed help. While waiting got to hear the servers cuss out the bartender. Very unprofessional. As far as the pizza... Got a large bacon and mushroom. Toppings were very sad. Pizza was almost burnt. All in all not happy. Called to get a pie, when I asked about the minimum for a delivery I was rudely told that they under no circumstances have ever delivered and to read their website. If this is the experience over the phone I'll pass. No place serving food claiming to be from "The Hill" would ever survive in Saint Louis with that type of customer service. read more

I went to this place about a month ago with my family, and ordered their lasagna and a side salad. For almost $12, I got a portion of lasagna no bigger than 4" in diameter with a tiny bowl of salad. When I complained about still being hungry after finishing it, our server offered me a 10% coupon for our next visit. I said no thanks, there's not likely to be a next visit. About a week later, we went to Arris' Pizza and ordered their lasagna and a side salad. It cost less than $10 and filled a dish that was easily 10-12 inches long. It was such a large portion, I had to take half of it home in a to-go box. While I've had Garbo's pizza before (and it was nothing to write home about either), it paled in comparison to other locally owned pizza joints in Springfield. read more

After reading all the good reviews I was excited about trying the pizza. I ordered a combo (hamburger, bacon, onion & black olive) extra crispy. Later, I added on a salad because of the good reviews they had. The salad was very good, but it should have been on a bigger plate. Every bite caused the lettuce to spill onto the table - it was quite a mess. I was extremely disappointed in the pizza. Way too much sauce - which made it soggy. Only the outside crust was crispy and the rest was very soggy. The waitress asked me after having eaten a couple of pieces if it was crispy enough. I was excited to try this place out after hearing good reviews and a commercial on the radio that got my attention. However, after arriving at the restaurant and standing for almost 5 minutes with no acknowledgement of me or any others in my party of 4, my excitement soon dwindled. After walking up to the counter area after being passed over by every worker there more than once, I finally asked "do we wait to be seated, is there a waiting list to get on?" I was quickly told "oh, we're full - you can check upstairs if you want." We left and went to IMO's. I honestly doubt I'll ever try this place out after that experience. My daughter and went here last Friday. We saw it driving by and both thought it looked fun. My daughter says: I thought it was good but it isn't a place that I'll remember. Not like Lynns paradise cafe in Louisville. They messed up our order, it was disappointing. I say: the pizza dough is most likely frozen. It was tough and the sauce was far to sweet. I heard this was a great place for St.Louis-style pizza. The crust was good, but other than that the toppings were bland. I mean, if you order a pepperoni and Italian sausage pizza it should taste VERY Italian. It didn't. It was bland. A sure sign that they purchase cheap ingredients for their toppings. The location is very cozy. Quiet and quaint. The staff was very friendly. I had the lasagna and it was alright. Nothing to complain about just wasn't amazing or anything. My family and I were passing thru headed back home to St. Louis and from all the reviews we thought we would try it out. The location was nice and the restaurant was clean. Our server was amazing and did a great job. Unfortunately, the food was not that great and it was OVER PRICED. The server said they had the best Italian house salad dressing. I was very average and bland. 3 side house salads that consist mostly of lettuce, cheese, olives and mushrooms was $14.97. My daughter had the kids ravioli and was not impressed. We also tried the "16 Whole Meaty Supreme. The crust was soggy and not baked long enough. Being from St. Louis we are constantly eating at "The Hill". If you want try St. Louis style pizza, take a drive to St. Louis. Another family favorite would be "Roma's in Bethalto, IL". Family owned, great food and prices are very reasonable. read more

I would give this place negative stars. The service was HORRIBLE. My family had to flag our "waitress" down to get drink orders and refills . She FORGOT about our salads, and one of our orders got lost in the kitchen. After an hour of waiting we got our food which was Good. read more

Worst pizza I've ever had. I've had pizza from many different restuarants. I would eat a cheap frozen pizza before I would look at this. Pretty funny how you can call yourself a pizzeria these days and have horrible pizza. We had the spicey chicken pizza. The crust is awful. If it had any taste it was like eating a notebook. The chicken was really tiny cubed pieces of "chicken", not sure what it was to be honest. everything else on the pizza was ok at best. And the service was horrible. We were the only ones dining at the time, sitting in open view, and I sat out of tea for 5 mins. I'm really confused by the people giving them 5 stars. To them I say get out a little. If you really want to go out to get pizza and for some reason this was your only option, buy a $3 frozen pizza, cook it yourself, and eat it on a parkbench.
