I tried to replace my seatbelts for my Element under its lifetime warranty due to wear. They confirmed it fell under the warranty but said the parts were on back order. Over the course of two YEARS, despite calling and following up, they didn't do anything further. They also refused to give me the order number from Garcia to Corporate (at Honda Corporate's request when I called them.) Normal time for the seat belt replacement is ~8 weeks, so 2 years is just plain unprofessional. They also called to close my ticket when the issue was not solved, called them right back and got a voicemail. No car should ever get their service done here. read more

We just bought a car from Garcia Honda yesterday. Gary Sanchez was a patient and wonderful salesman with no upsell whatsoever, just easygoing and informative. (Informative enough that we upsold ourselves, LOL.) Mike McKinnon the GM oversaw everything so that we could hold the car we wanted over the weekend until we talked to our bank and then get out of there with the car right quick; he's an ever-calm presence in a stressful process. While Garcia was the first dealership in town to implement a no-haggle buying procedure (back in the mid-Nineties!), once we got serious about purchasing Mike simply immediately offered a price that was utterly reasonable in comparison to any available information (including family who work for Honda). Andrew the finance guy was fantastic: friendly and no upsell pressure, just information. All the other folks (many, didn't get their names) were pleasant and helpful. Now, Garcia Honda is not a nonprofit: everyone should understand that their initial offers are going to favor the dealership. It's up to each customer to research beforehand, to look at the rates, the periods involved and all the numbers that are offered before entering a contract. And we had a moment of confusion with paperwork; everything got straightened out fine and without any drama, but - as with any serious purchase - be sure to read everything carefully. Here's a lagniappe you might not expect: Garcia Honda is probably the best Southwestern and motor art museum in Albuquerque. Andrew took us around and we spent probably a half hour gawping at world-class art (Baumanns, Gormans, etc. - on par with Santa Fe museums) while the paperwork was processing. The Sales team at Garcia Honda is fine but the Service Center is a nightmare. Poor customer service and communication all around. I couldn't get through to the Service Center to schedule a service appointment as I was put on hold for 20+ minutes multiple times, so I called the Sales line who answered immediately and had a service representative call me back later in the day. I was then quoted prices that are 30-40% higher than those at another local Honda dealership (Perfection Honda) for routine maintenance. They were not willing to budge on their pricing, and simply repeated that it's non-negotiable. The service representative I spoke to was short with me the entire time I was on the call with them. I'd rather not drive to Rio Rancho to get routine maintenance done (I live in the NE Heights), but the difference in price makes the drive more than worth it. Needless to say I'll be taking my car elsewhere for service, and will likely buy my next car from Perfection Honda due to poor customer service by the service center representatives at Garcia Honda. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO GARCIA HONDA -- SAVE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY! I strongly advise anyone reading this to avoid Garcia Honda Service Department. My experience has been beyond frustrating, unsafe, and financially draining. I own a 2016 Honda Civic. In August, my car began stalling and losing power, so I took it to Garcia Honda. I was charged $175 + tax (about $200) for a diagnostic fee. The technician told me I needed a fuel pump, even though he admitted he could not duplicate the issue. I was then asked if I could duplicate the problem for them -- which I did within 15 minutes. After that, the technician claimed his computer "didn't capture the issue," so he needed to plug in another computer to determine that it was the fuel pump, which I found completely ridiculous along with finding out that I didn't need a new fuel pump. They replaced the fuel pump at a cost of $1,400. The car ran fine for a few weeks -- then the exact same problem returned. This time, the car stalled repeatedly, lost power and speed, and shut off while I was driving with my two children. We almost got rear-ended on the freeway, which was terrifying and a serious safety hazard. This time, the check engine light (Emission System Problem), oil light, and battery light all came on. None of these lights appeared the first time. I brought the car back and was charged another $175 + tax ($200) for diagnostic fee. This time, I was told it was a camshaft sensor, which they replaced for $500. That same evening, after driving for a couple of hours, the same warning lights came back on and the same issue returned. I returned again to the dealership and was then told the issue was the PCM. Garcia Honda kept my car for two weeks and installed a refurbished PCM, claiming this would completely fix the problem. It did not. In total, I have taken my car to Garcia Honda 6 times for the same issue, and my car is still not running. It continues to stall, and now it won't even start. I have spent over $2,000 on parts I did not need, and the original problem was never fixed. As a single mother with two young children, I feel completely taken advantage of. On top of that, Andrew Shultz was rude during our conversations and when I picked up my car, and Tyler &(Managers) did not return my phone calls. My advice is simple: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS DEALERSHIP. Save yourself the headache, wasted money, and safety risk. read more

Definitely take your Honda to Garcia Honda! I took my 2019 Honda accord sport 1.5 to Garcia Honda because all my dash board lights lit up like Christmas. I was so scared and I took it in to get diagnosed, armondo helped me and was very helpful. He explained they checked all hoses and sensors and reset the p0299 code. My car is back running great and no issues. I took my car in at 130pm they were finished at 4pm. Great prices and honest people , which is rare at dealerships. Do not sign anything without a lawyer present. I'm getting daily calls for past due payments for a lease I paid in full 3 weeks ago. I have been told that Garcia is the only agency that can fix this even though I have proof of payment. I'm getting the run-around and can't seem to get through to anyone there. I had a very negative experience with this dealership. Phillip Royball asked me for a $500 deposit to hold a vehicle, even though I did not sign any paperwork or agreement. When I changed my mind and requested a refund, he became aggressive and told me the dealership "does not refund deposits." My husband had to go in person, and even the manager first tried to pressure us into buying the vehicle instead of returning the money. Wow, I am experiencing what it feels like to be a king. So brought my car here as it needed Honda service. They were so accommodating and polite. Sat me down explained everything to me before they did it. They told me they will work to get things repaired and keep me updated. After receiving the recall on the fuel pump module, I asked the service manager about it and he said parts were on back order and it would take a few months to get them in. After taking in my vehicle in on 9/7/24, recommendations were 4 wheel alignment, cabin filter and and fuel system concern. The service manager said it was the fuel injectors and they would need to be replaced and a fuel pipe set. He said it had nothing to do with the recall on the fuel pump. I scheduled the repair on 11/23/24 and Honda charged me 1,420.62. I asked if this included the recall for the fuel pump module. I received no answer.  My car experienced insufficient pressure from a failing fuel pump. Yes It can cause restricted fuel flow and residue can build up inside the injector nozzles. I feel that because of the recall not being addressed due to lack of parts from Honda caused the situation with other parts including the fuel injectors to worsen. I honestly feel like I've been truly taken advantage of. On 8/10/24 I took my vehicle in to get an oil change and the service manager suggested that I get cool system service done. I did scheduled it and got it done on 9/7/24. When I took the vehicle in on 11/23/24 to get the injectors replaced, your service manager said that the mechanic recommended I get the cooling system service done. He gave me an inspection sheet that said it was in the red zone and needed to be done asap. I told the service manager, what are you talking about? Honda did this service on 9/7 and he's telling me I have to get it done again on 11/23, 2 1/2 months later? Now do you see why I feel like Honda has taken advantage of me. read more

I wish I didn't have to write this but Garcia Honda is one of the biggest scumbag stealerships to ever exist. These bastards pretend to be charging msrp for a civic type R but force you to buy a wing accessory. I thought to myself, that's fine since Honda's msrp is $2250. They said the installed price was over $3100 and I was like huh, that sounds a bit expensive for labor. In fact, it comes out to $875 in labor so I'm like okay, I don't want it installed. They were like nope, even if you don't have it installed, we are still charging you $875 for labor even if we don't install it. That's an immediate red flag and I sleep on it. I thought ok, I'll ask them to throw in tint since I'm being charged for a job that isn't being performed. Well, you all know how car stealerships are, and at the mere thought of them "doing me a favor", the scumbag general sales manager Mike kills the deal. Now three days later after they told me, they'll have my vehicle back that same day, they still don't know what's wrong, they're not able to give me a loaner vehicle, they say they need to keep my vehicle longer, but they don't know how long and now the battery is failing all of a sudden so now in order to even take my vehicle, I need to pay them 380 bucks. Talked to the manager, Mike McKinnon. He said that I didn't buy the car from them. So this is the service I will get. But conveniently he did suggest that I could get a new car from them. My vehicle is 10 years old. Only 110k miles. The other option they said is, they'll leave my car on the street and I can figure it out on my own. That's my only other option. I've been dealing with perfection Honda who literally couldn't care about my car wouldn't get me an emergency appointment and basically told me tough shi*. That's another review, but I called up Garcia Honda and the woman who answered the phone was a pleasure to work with and assured me that they could get my vehicle in that same day a couple hours later. It desperately needed a part replaced, they helped handle everything right down to dealing with the extended warranty process. They checked my car thoroughly and replaced the valve throwing on my emissions light. Even called me the next day to make sure everything was okay. I've leased four cars here in the past three years, very happy with the attention, value, and experience. I have a frame of reference, having visited other dealers here and in another state, leasing or buying vehicles for a number of years; Garcia has always been great to work with. It helps if you have a good trade-in with value. Garcia seems to give more equity than other places I've been. It may require you knowing enough about the value of the trade-in, the fair sales price, and--if leasing--the money factor and residual of a lease (google it, it's not hard to understand if you put in a bit of research). The bottom line is that I felt valued at Garcia Honda. I didn't feel like they played games. They might not give you a super great deal at first, but talk with them and negotiate a bit because they are willing to come down. They are respectful and if you are, too, a little bit of time and work will go a long way to getting a very good deal. A shout out to John Motley, the sales representative I worked with for the two car leases my wife and I worked with this past month. He was great. Patient, kind, and had a good sense of humor. As for John. (Side note: Other dealerships are pushing hard to sell add-ons, either warranty things or tinting, Lo-Jack, weather mats, etc. In some cases, it's already added on to EVERY car. I didn't find that at Garcia Honda. That was a relief, but also I wouldn't agree to those add-ons if forced and walked away.) read more

My car is fine, and I hated to write this, but I had to. The phone service at the ABQ Honda Garcia is HORRIBLE! Very hard to get a live person when you call, and they fail to return calls, for the most part. I have been a hostage in my own home because I still (after 2 months) do not have the paperwork for the registration. Honda keeps pointing the finger at MVD, and you can't reach MVD in any form to respond (a phone hold is in hours, not minutes). The temporary tag had incorrect info on it, and has yet to be corrected, and I will not drive without proper documentation. No one at Honda has the backbone to speak to the highest person at MVD to find out what the problem really is, and just keep saying it takes time. All I see is everyone blaming everyone else, and no one with the wherewithal to take real action instead of just being reactive and doing nothing. The people are very nice there, the car selection fine, the facility fine, but common sense left the building when it comes to being proactive. read more

Wow. Just... wow. Don't shop here. Especially avoid "Muscles," the finance guy/manager (didn't catch his name but you'll recognize him, trust me). Oh, and Mr. Garcia who likes to respond to these reviews with canned responses? Don't. Do Not. We've been Honda owners for 12 years, and it's time to trade in our 2017 CRV. We chose Garcia because their website showed inventory, unlike everywhere else... so I clicked on the specific car I wanted to test drive and got a response back from a person named Cody that they would be happy to help me out. I emailed back and told them we wanted to drive the hybrid and also look at HRVs, that we would bring our low mileage trade-in, and that we already had financing in place through our Federal credit union. They ask if we'd consider financing locally and I say no. We show up for our appointment, a two-hour drive, and no one is waiting for us. Cody isn't in. So we start up with a perfectly nice sales rep, Aaron, who is very personable, asks good questions and doesn't defer to my husband when it's obvious I'm the one who will be driving this car. But then the revelations begin. Inventory? There's no inventory. There are no hybrids to drive. There are no hybrids at the trim level we want even being built - never mind the two listed as "in stock" on the website (see pic) with "buy online" buttons right there. There may be some at the next higher trim level coming in late April, early June. The only HRVs have black interiors, which I specifically don't want (we live in the desert where the sun is a deadly laser!). Cars listed on the website as "in stock" are already sold or aren't really here. We ask about standard CRVs, and there are some coming in sooner than the hybrids. We ask what it takes to "reserve" one, though neither of the ones coming in are in colors I actually want to drive for the next five years. I get it - supply chains are a nightmare right now. But. Don't advertise what you don't actually have to sell me! Enter "Muscles." Apparently Cody, who I emailed with, is his assistant. Muscles, who embodies the gym and steroid-addicted "bro" trope like no one I've ever encountered in real life, proceeds to talk down to me, saying "we just want to make sure you're getting the right car, that you can handle the engine, blah blah blah." And then, "We will be handling your financing. We're not doing any OSF (off-site financing) because we don't price over MSRP and we get about $200 for referring loans." Big cheesy smile. I was very clear in my inquiries that we were not interested in their financing. They couldn't tell me this up front, saving us the four-hour round trip, basically wasting our entire day (plus a half-tank of very expensive gas!!)? We have been doing business with our credit union for 20+ years, and have gotten all of our new car loans through their programs, which are better deals than anyone in NM can offer. "Wow. Really? But isn't... our rate... lower?" without being familiar with the program we're using. He gets even more condescending and rude, so we walk out, passing poor Aaron at the door where he'd been getting a test drive of I don't even know what model ready for us (at Muscles' direction, not really ours). It may be legal for dealerships to refuse outside financing, but that doesn't make it good business, especially when they lure customers in without disclosing this practice. Dishonest, rude, and unethical, all for a supposed $200 kickback from whatever bank they'd saddle us with. Never mind that they'd be able to sell our trade-in for a tidy profit (there's an identical model with more than 100k miles on it for $23,500 on their site right now - ours has only 50k miles and Kelly Blue Book shows a trade-in value of $20k). Armando was my service assistant and he was great at keeping me informed and coordinating a shuttle for me as well as Matt who was the pick up driver. While it was far less convenient for me to go to Garcia due to it being more miles away- they assured me it was no problem and made every effort to accommodate my needing my van for the fallowing day. All the recalls they were able to do were done, van was washed and a detailed list of recommended items were easy to understand. And my van door was fixed without a great charge for having fixed it! Well, for starters, it would be nice to talk to somebody. That was a little compassionate and understanding. I think everybody knows the times that we are in right now and every little thing counts. It all started when I purchased my 2018 Jeep grand Cherokee, which those are very expensive. So you know the deal they promised you, the moon do and say whatever it takes to make the customer happy until. The purchase is finalized and they have their money. It started with me having this Jeep for less than two months and noticed that the water pump was failing so I had to set up a time take the car there figure out how to get home. You know the inconvenience a person goes through when there is an issue with your car and you have to take it to the dealer. So after all that they did replace the water pump, but here is the huge butt normally and what I was told is that if possible, they would use OEM parts for anything that needs to be fixed with the vehicle. Well, their first excuse was well it's not a Honda. It's a jeep and you purchased it here at Garcia Honda. well, I don't think that should matter but anyway They ended up replacing the water pump with a non-OEM part now mind you that the Jeep dealer is directly across the street from Garcia Honda so in my eyes, there is no reason why they could have not using an OEM water pump. So here we are to present time which has been about of a year And noticed that I had a water leak and had it diagnosed as a failing water pump again. So I proceeded to call Garcia Honda and explain to them what was happening and the long story short is basically "" oh well, your warranty expired now mind you the extended warranty that I paid for And had to pay a $100 deductible for the first water pump and now the second water pump has failed and they again basically said oh well, not my problem so very rude very condescending. Transfer me to many people got many excuses and the outcome was they were not going to cover it so $600 later I ended up putting a new water pump in now mind you that it should have been covered anybody knows that if you were to use an OEM part 95% of the time you will not have any issues with using an OEM part. So my biggest and main concern with this whole issue is that if they would have used an OEM part and it failed then I would be totally understanding and taken care of it myself but because they did not use an OEM part and did not ask me if they could use an OEM part I think that They Should be responsible for it but again everybody I talk to basically just washes their hands from it does not want to help me does not want to take care of it does not want a happy customer probably because I did not purchase a Honda from them. This Honda Service Department will grossly overcharge the customer,look elsewhere! Two recent service appointments were a waste of time. The first was for a replacement key. Their charge was going to be over $200 including $75 to program and $20 for "shop supplies "A local Locksmith (Heights Lock and Key)did everything for $69. Next visit I was in for a Drivers Seat Belt Buckle SRS code.This part has a Lifetime Warranty. The Garcia Service Department tried to charge $148 to plug in a scanner for 1 minute to read the code. When I refused that ridiculous overcharge I was told I could go elsewhere and to leave which I was happy to do. I will contact The Honda Corporation since Garcia Honda refused to service a Safety related issue with my Honda Accord. They will try and add many unnecessary charges to your repair order. Transmission flush was quoted $119.95 I asked if this amount was for a flush or a drain and fill. I was told by the lady on the phone it was for a flush. After having the car done I was told that they do not do a flesh that it can damage your transmission and it's better to do a drain and fill. Other than that everything went great. TLDR: Management at this dealership will treat you like you are worthless and it's not worth your time to even try and speak with them if their name is Steve. I was incredibly disappointed with my experience at Garcia Honda because of one person: Steve. For Lou and Philip who helped us, they were great, but as soon as Steve got involved the purchase went downhill. When my husband got a better price for a the same car in a different color than the one we had viewed at Garcia, I went to Garcia to go see if they offered the same graduate student rebate that made the car more competitive at another dealership. I came in and asked to speak with Lou who helped my husband previously, but when he wasn't available Philip helped me. He immediately brought Steve into and when Steve walked over I explained to him that we had gotten a better price and I wanted to see if Garcia had the same rebate that made the other price better. Instead of listening to literally anything I said he goes "you can leave I'm not going to get into a back and forth on a car." In response I said "ok sounds like I plan. I liked the color here more and just wanted to see if you gave a graduate student rebate as well but I'll go ahead and leave." I wish yall could have seen how quickly he changed his tune. He sat down and tried to give me so BS about how they provide a better experience and so they don't get into sales battles because it comes down to who wants to sell the car more. That's fine Steve, but as a consumer I came to you willing to pay more for your car and you spoke to me like I was a child. He drew up new estimates with the graduate rebate and my husband and I decided that we would pay more to Garcia Honda because we liked the color better. At the time I had to get back to work for a meeting and also just didn't feel super excited about giving Garcia Honda my business considering the way that Steve had treated me at the beginning. I told him our plan was to come by the next day to do the paperwork. He tried to pressure me to stay and go ahead and start the paperwork and also tried to convince me my realtor didn't know what they were doing and he would be a better realtor which just seemed completely not relevant to what we were talking about. I left and finished out the work day and as I was driving home my husband called and said the other dealership called him and was going to give him an extra 750 on the trade in to try and earn our business. At that point instead of paying 200 for a color we would be paying almost 1k which just wasn't worth the color to us. I pass Garcia on my way home and started driving over because I wanted to tell Philip in person that we wouldn't be moving forward with the deal. As I'm driving over Steve calls my husband to see if we're coming in and my husband tells him that the other dealership decided to raise the trade in value. Before even letting him finish Steve says "go buy it" and hangs up the phone. I can understand a dealership not wanted to get caught up in a roundabout price battle, but to treat my husband and I with such disrespect and condescension is unacceptable. Not to mention the fact we had told Garcia that we were willing to pay more for their car. We decided against the most economical option because we liked the Garcia car more. I wish I would have read the reviews because it looks like we weren't the only ones to be bullied by Steve, and according to Steve management is ok with that. We tried to buy a new 22 crv and when we started talking numbers the shady salesperson name Aaron said we have to buy the $3000 package or NO DEAL!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME at garcia honda. 0 f*cking stars. They ruined my f*cking car. Took it in because it kept dying and not only did EMILIO tell me they "fixed it", but it came back even worse. Now it dies every time I turn it off. I called multiple times asking if they can look at it again and if i could talk to Emilio (guy who told me he fixed it).
