First, I' d like to let you know they changed their name to Angels. The interior of the place is cozy. Its basically the same configuration of Egg Harbour, which used to be there. I ordered a veggie omelet which came with choice of breads, including French toast. Also, Hash browns. It was a very delicious omelet! It didnt have an oil after taste and it was fluffy, yet not a kilamanjaro, if you know what i mean, lol. It was plenty without being overwheming. It included mushroom, spinach, green peppers and tomato. Just the right amount! Not sparse on ingredients and not over done either. The french toast was very nice too. It was equivelant in size to a slice of texas toast cut into strips but the bread tasted better. Hidden diner style breakfast/brunch restaurant. You actually cannot see it from the parking lot until you walk into the plaza haha. There is a lot of parking available. We went in on a Monday morning and were seated right away. The restaurant is very homey and cozy. I enjoyed how quiet and calm it was! They are quick with service. My friend noted that their coffee was really good. I ordered the mocha latte, which I enjoyed and wasn't too sweet! The menu pricing is ~$11 per plate. They have a wide variety of options available - from classic breakfast to crepes. And very fitting to their name, they have a lot of berry options! We ordered the Papa sampler with the biscuits and gravy, and the Mama sampler with berry crepes (additional $4.95 charge). The samplers vary by the number of eggs you would like, and includes a type of meat as well (bacon, sausage, turkey, ham). The food was good, classic breakfast - nothing more and nothing less. After our 30 mile Bike the Drive in the city, we were hungry. We've been here a couple times as it's close to Wellness House and came after their 5K fundraiser. With six in our group, my daughter and I got a Gyro omelette and Tijuana omelette that had steak, jalapeños etc. both were excellent. I had a side of French toast that was scrumptious. We were seated and served quickly, however both bathrooms were completely out of order and we were told the Shell gas station down the street was the best option. The place is a hidden gem! Literally hidden. As when you pull up the GPS it gives you the from of the mini mall instead. The restaurant is further back. We sat instantly and at first they gave us a both by the door and I asked not to be because it was cold and they accommodated us without a word. The food is AMAZING. The churro waffle changed my life. Crispy on the outside soft in the inside. Tons of cinnamon sugar and a glob of ice cream on top!! The chilaquiles were spicy but not too spicy and had plenty of fresh tomato and cabbage. The only disappointment was the latte we ordered didn't look like the latte in the picture and the server claimed it melted? When Egg Harbor told us they were moving out of their location off of York road where we had dined for over 15 years, we were a bit heart broken. They have other locations yet it was this spot in Hinsdale where we had spent so many Sunday mornings over the years amidst groups of flip-flop/hoodie clad college kids, families with little ones, church-goers, couples young and old. If you miss enjoying hot coffee and delicious breakfast here, locals are in luck. The newly opened Garden Berry Cafe really delivers. The menu focuses on quality and quantity across every breakfast category. The coffee is excellent. The service is super friendly. I got one of the Benedict's with a side of potatoes that have bits of bacon and a wonderful seasoning. They also brought out samples of their homemade salsas to try which we found to be delicious. And yes, folks, they have several pumpkin items on the menu for fall. And the place? Such familiarity in a time where everything has been turned upside down and we're trying so hard to get back to what we used to know...that warms the soul like extra whipped cream on your waffle, a refill of coffee, and a side of bacon. read more

Garden berry, café I kid you not has the best salad I've ever had in my life do not skip on the berry chicken salad salad ! It is a bit pricey, but this salad is massive. There have been times where they eat it for two lunches in one week. The chicken salad is some of the best I've ever had. I think it may even be better than Mariano's chicken salad. The Good - Service at this restaurant was excellent. This was a nice diner with a delicious breakfast. The Usual - Add ons are an additional fee - onions with hash browns were .95, for example. The Unnecessary- I did notice the "supplemental fee" for credit card usage. Those fees are just silly because that is the cost of doing business that should be factored into a business budget. We know you're paying to accept credit cards - negotiate with your CC companies instead of adding "fees" to your bills and surprising customers. read more

We really enjoyed our food choices but the restaurant has very poor lighting and no ambiance. The hostess wanted to seat us at a small table in a dark corner near the door, and we asked kindly if she could seat us near the window where we would have some light. All young staff but that wasn't a negative. Our server could have been a little more attentive. She didn't stop over after our food was delivered to see if we needed anything. Location: plenty of parking. There's a sign by the plaza entrance for the restaurant and it's only a 10 second walk to the restaurant door. Restaurant itself was a good size and tables are big. Just a bit too big for 2 people sitting across each other in my opinion but I'm a tiny person so I often had to come close to the table instead of sitting back when speaking. Place was clean and slightly decorated. I went on a weekday morning with a friend which was nice, not too many people so it wasn't too noisy. FOOD WAS GOOD. It was a huge portion and good price. I ordered the avocado egg Benedict without the chorizo (I don't eat meat or poultry) and shared a very Berry crepes with my friend. It was the savory and sweet breakfast I was looking for. Ingredients tasted fresh, especially the berries (strawberry, raspberry and blueberries). I love that it wasn't just a sliced tomato put on top of the English muffin, it was actually diced and seasoned. Sauce and potatoes was okay, pretty average. Crepes were good. Good balance of crepe and filling. Didn't need the syrup as it tasted good on it own. If you like a sweet hot chocolate and lots of sweet cream. The restaurants hot chocolate is your drink! Good sized cup and cream was over the top. They also had a nice selection of teas. Service was amazing! I went in and was seated right away. Wait time for the food took longer than usual, the wait was over 15min when the restaurant was mostly empty. Ordered over easy eggs for my skillet and the eggs came overcooked like over HARD and potatoes were undercooked. Ordered a mac and cheese for the kids and it was made from those Kraft boxed mac and cheese. I finally ventured over last weekend with my boyfriend, and we both found the food and place itself very lackluster. I ordered the California Omelet (mushroom, pepper jack cheese, and avocado). There was no standout flavor to the dish. I chose french toast as my accompanying side and it was a very basic, no frills french toast. I was not expecting anything fancy, but it tasted very bland. My boyfriend ordered the bacon waffle - it sounded delicious on the menu. It was just okay, the bacon flavor or crispy texture did not stand out against the waffle. He also ordered two sides, corn beef hash and potatoes. Both of these dishes were fine, but nothing extraordinary. The food is fine, nothing to write home about. Our waitress was nice, but they did seem to be rushing us out when the place was not close to being full. Overall, Garden Berry Cafe is a simple, no frills breakfast spot. This was a pretty good place for breakfast. There is a large menu with something for everyone. The service at our table was great and the food came out really fast. I had an omelette and thought it was under seasoned, but that seems to be common with most breakfast places. The pancakes were delicious and I enjoyed the option for fresh fruit. My husband didn't care for the thick chewy bacon or his biscuits and gravy. He said the gravy didn't taste like the typical sausage gravy. I was in the Hinsdale area and craving some breakfast. My sister found this little spot on Yelp and we loved it! The restaurant is hidden inside the Gateway Square but we managed to find it right away. Upon entering we were greeted by the host and seated right away. We were served coffee and given ample time to look through the menu and make our final decision. There were so many things to pick from and everything looked delicious. I chose the Stuffed Strawberry Pancakes and they were able to sub the bananas for blueberries (up-charge included) and I was more than ok with that. Our food came out fairly fast after placing the order in. The server came around often to make sure our meal was going well and would refill our coffee mugs right when we finished the last one. The family returned today for a late lunch (they are open until 3:00 whereas other places are only open until 2, so that's good news). I asked them to try something new. My son, who eats at least ten burgers a week said his burger was one of the best he's had. Toasted bun, cheese, perfectly cooked. And he ate all the fries because they were "hot and crunchy". Also had the chicken and rice soup and loved it. My wife also had the burger and loved it and also said the tortilla soup was terrific. Garden Berry Cafe has great soups and we just need to remember which days have which soups. Perfect soup weather. We will definitely make this a go to place since it's so close to home.
