Beautiful setting and good food. I forgot to order the tortilla soup! I'll have to go back. My husband had the turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich with potato salad. It was huge and he said it was good. I had the chicken salad sandwich with a side salad. If you aren't huge eaters, get the half sandwich. I had to eat the insides without the bread, it was too much food! That is usually not a problem since we are big eaters. We shared the coconut cake for dessert. I am a coconut fan and while the cake was good, I thought it was a bit much with the coconut pudding inside the cake. But overall I was impressed and will certainly return. read more

First you need to know two things: The Garden Cafe is not open all year around. Check their website as they close when the weather gets too hot to sit outside at mid day. Next, I strongly recommend reservations at lunch time particularly for groups. You may well have noticed from the other reviews that the setting is beautiful. The seating is all out of doors in a rustic but well maintained patio/garden area. You can enter from Madison by going down the alley with the shops or from 1st by a parking lot. There is plenty of parking on both sides. Service is generally good and the staff is knowledgable about what is in the food. The menu selection for both breakfast and lunch. The portions are large. My favorite is the Tortilla Soup. If you get the soup and a half sandwich it should fill you up nicely. The Spice Tea makes for a good beverage. The Tri Tip has always been a good choice when I have been there. My wife likes the Quiche. For those with allergies to food in the Nightshade family I strongly urge that you try the Quiche. My wife and I have shared the Chocolate "Killer" Cake. The portion was large enough to share. If you are passing through Yuma and need a break from the I8 desert drive, the Garden Cafe would certainly be worth your while. Whether East or West Bound the best exit to the downtown area is Giss. I have taken my staff for lunch, so I know that they can handle parties up to about 12-15. read more

The name is spot on. Adorable cafe with an abundance of outdoor garden seating. We opted for a quiet gazebo tucked away in its own little nook. The staff was welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The quiche is very good. Wish they had the fried potatoes with it at lunch as well as breakfast. The spice tea is worth the trip downtown. Not a huge fan of the buffet - a bit sparse with the selection. Wish it was year round but no one wants to eat outside in Yuma in the middle of summer. The food was soooo good! Delicious, very fresh, and well prepared. The best Cobb Salad I've ever had. I love that the greens were dry (not wet from washing) and that the bacon was still warm, as if it was just cooked. The turkey was from a real, freshly roasted turkey, I'm sure!! It was so good! The Yuma Spice Tea is unbelievable!! This is a must try!! Delightfully yummy and even though it tastes a little sweet, there is no sugar in it. Sooooo good! The atmosphere was lovely. Pretty birds and lots of trees and shrubbery around. Pretty garden setting. Just beautiful with a desert touch. It was a little warm, but it's getting near the end of their open season. Two drawbacks: The first item was the crap from the trees blew into my food and it was all over. I just couldn't bring myself to eat anymore after one gust ruined my meal. The trees have so many little flowers and seeds and stuff that one gust of wind and whoooosh, my plate was full of stuff. The second thing was the kids. There were kids running around everywhere. No one made them sit down or controlled them. It's hard to enjoy a meal with little girls running up and down, kicking things, giggling, watching us eat, literally standing 2 feet away just to listen to us, etc. It really ruined the entire meal. They close after Mother's Day until October, so I'm sure it's lovely in the winter to come here. The gift shop was extraordinary and Mark was so helpful!! I wish I could buy a few things, but not this trip. I can't wait to come back in the fall/winter. I sure hope those rotten kids are gone! And next time, I'll keep a napkin over my plate. Finaly the same lady who passed up twice asked if had a reservation? With over ten tables open she said we would have to wait 1hr for a table. All tables open are have reservations. This is one of most favorite restaurants. Very clean, outdoor patio restaurant and the food is so different than the norm. My favorite meals are the quiche and cobb salad. Everything is fresh and the service is fantastic. They have a coconut while cake that is very delicious but all of their meals are great. You will not believe that you are in Yuma when eating there, it is so different that anything in Yuma. read more

WOW! We were looking for someplace different to have a quick lunch break in between shopping. We were so excited to be able to be seated. They were super busy (Sat 1:10p.m.) but managed without a reservation. I ordered the Turkey & Monterey on sourdough with their signature red potatoe salad. Amazing! My husband ordered the Tri Tip Dip sandwich. Wow! I kept staring at it. I swapped half of my turkey sandwich for half of his sandwich. Generous proportions. The atmosphere is serene and beautiful. There are two entrances into the place one is through the front where you walked down a corridor which has gift shops the other entrance is through the back. The place is beautiful a little crowded when there is alot of people. We got there before the crowd came in so it's good to call ahead and try to make a reservation if you know you wanna eat there. There are lizards and birds just hanging around too so if you're into that cool if youre not you might wanna try some place else. But my husband and I ordered the tortilla soup which was amazingly good with a turkey and avocado half sandwich. My husband got the tri tip dip which was kinda tough to chew. The coffee there was one of the best I've ever had. The servers also have great customer service and they don't have a restroom of there own so you have to use the gift shop which isn't that far you just go back out the front entrance and make a left into the gift shop. I really hate saying anything bad about a local, small bizz, maybe it was just an off-day for the Garden Cafe. We've come one other time and had a much better experience that time, this visit... eh, not so much. We arrived around 10:30-10:45ish, the patio was pretty empty but we were seated right next to the kitchen door. Not the most inviting/relaxing spot, but ok. We hadn't been there more than 5 minutes before we were asked by our waitress if we knew what we wanted. We said not yet, still looking, and she said she'd come back. She came back not even 2 minutes later it felt like. We felt so absolutely rushed. Had to flag someone down to have water glasses refilled (it wasn't busy yet, mind you), the girl came by and refilled one. One glass. There were two that needed refilling. We ate Sunday brunch here with our 4 yr old son. He loved the birds everywhere and it served as a great distraction so he wasn't bored. We didn't have a reservation (I would make one next time), but they were able to seat us quickly anyway. Our server was attentive and friendly. We had a great table halfway shaded from the sun. Went here on Friday with 5 other ladies.We were very disappointed. Used to be our very favorite restaurant in Yuma, but the turkey,strawberry salad was a big disappointment and the tortilla soup tasted like colored water with a spice or two in it. I knew my wife would like this place the moment I saw it. It is an outdoor cafe next to the Sanguinetti House, which is now a museum about Yuma's history. E. F. Sanguinetti, who owned the property, was the prominent merchant in Yuma, and (a quick internet search showed me that) the Garden Cafe is owned by his descendants. Even though it was a bit cold the atmosphere was really good. I ordered the steak burrito. The tri-tip steak was excellent -- but I probably would have enjoyed one of the sandwich choices more. The proportions were good and prices were reasonable. Our server was very friendly and someone often came by to fill our coffee cups. A warmer day would have been good, although that is no fault of the restaurant -- and while shopping in the gift shop I noticed their was inside seating. But sitting inside misses the point of the garden cafe. An enjoyable and delicious way to spend and breakfast or lunch in Yuma. read more

I've been here a few times and the food has always been decent and the service is ok at best. Today, my friend and I went to get brunch without reservations and was told it would be at least 30 minutes and that they ran out of several items on the menu- which happens every time. We decided to go else where and as we were leaving, the couple behind us were clearly regulars and on a first name basis with the host. They told the host they didn't have reservations either and were informed they would have a table within ten minutes-literally seconds after we turned around-how rude. This place is a gem! Literally an oasis in the desert. I stumbled upon it not knowing it was there, tucked behind some quaint little shops. I was in need of a meal on the cleaner side so I went in. The staff are all super friendly. The food (I got the soup/sandwich special: Avocado sandwich or I should call it some sandwich with my avocado and the tortilla soup) was excellent. The Garden café is a gem in Yuma. Tucked away near Sanguenetti house the Garden café is a sweet place to celebrate an occasion, relax with friends, or just come for great food. Service is quite good here. The menu however, is just mediocre. I ordered a tri-tip burrito, which turned out to be just steak wrapped in a flour tortilla. There were no fillings inside, no vegetables, rice, or eggs etc. The menu is definitely too pricey for just regular brunch food. A small bowl side of soup is $10??! it is not also not the most hygienic spot to serve food. There were a lot of flies hovering over our foods. But that's maybe because we are outside.
