Where to begin -- Came in seated immediately, the server came by introduced herself, took our drink orders. Tea and coffee were amazing! I have the portobello sandwich, with a side salad. Huge portions. The other people had the BLT and Eggplant Parm. The portions are large, really no need for sides unless you are ravenous. Service throughout was prompt but not hovering. And for dessert, we have the vegan chocolate cake that was simply one of the best chocolate cakes any of us had. And did I say the service was fantastic? First time at a vegetarian/ vegan restaurant. Was eager to try this eating lifestyle. The restaurant is located in a small plaza. A vegan bake shop if just a few doors down, convenient! The atmosphere modern and upbeat. Staff was welcoming and "schooled" us on the ingredients that make up their vegan options. The bar area features a tree or antlers I can't tell but most likely it's a tree with lights considering it's an animal free environment. The bar stools are wood and go well with the decor. Love the art displayed on the wall and the booths are comfortable. I really appreciated the silverware and dishes, it says a lot about the effort to present great food in a great atmosphere on great dinnerware. The only miss were the plastic water cups, wished they poured water into real glasses, it's one of the noodle-lee things I look for at restaurants. For drinks we ordered Rhode Island's own sparking water, Yacht Club and a banana, orange and strawberry smoothie. My intention was to use it to wash done my food. Our appetizer was cauliflower and herb risotto cakes with garlic and red pepper aioli- DELICIOUS!!!! Didn't need to wash it down with my smoothie. I can emphasize this more, its taste awesome, flavorful and accompanied with a side of arugula. My main dish was vegan macaroni and cheese, courageous for my first vegan meal right? Yup! It was served pipping hot in cast iron dish. Made with rice pasta, vegan cheese, broccoli and other add-ins. Check out the menu for all the ingredients. My guest ordered the stir fry bowl with bokchoy, brown rice and red quinoa along with a mix of other earthy veggies. For desert we shared a slice of vegan carrot cake with coconut whipped cream but it wasn't whipped cream, you know what I mean? That and the vegan cream cheese frosting make this awesome desert worthwhile. Overall this was an awesome experience for an introduction to vegan eating. I've probably dined in or ordered takeout from Garden Grille 20+ times during the 3 years I lived in Providence. I've never encountered a vegan place that comes even close. The way they inject flavor into all of the different meat substitutes they use (mainly tempeh, seitan, and tofu) is nothing short of magic. I've probably had most items on the menu, and my favorites are the Korean tacos, pastrami seitan Reuben, butternut squash quesadilla, and tofu BLT. All of the food is very reasonably priced, and consistently top notch (I've never had even a single meal that wasn't up to par). Garden Grille has definitely spoiled vegan food for me and is probably the thing I miss most about living in RI. This is by far the easiest 5/5 I've ever given a restaurant. read more

Love love love the food here and have been going for years. Any nachos with fresh jalapeños instantly tell me that they know what they're doing in the kitchen! Service is pretty lacking and the sterile interior design is a step in the wrong direction but we still go because the food is just THAT good. Definitely plan on a long experience. September 2, 2020, Wednesday 7:45 pm We had to make reservations and call ahead for a Wednesday. We had flown in from Las Vegas, NV to visit family the day before. We were beat, tired, and jetlagged so we arrived at 7:15pm (a bit early). Takeout was a priority so keep that in mind. We were seated around 7:49pm. I could see half sunset above the white wedding tent around 7:20pm so we sat on our tailgate in the rental car back hatch open all wearing masks. Nachos were our starter! I loved them and had the avocado on the side for me since hubby doesn't like raw avocado. Yacht club soda was 3.50 so it was with it but the next time, I'll pass I got full quick on the bubbles & nachos. Loved the beans it wasn't hot or spicy. Okay, so my large dish didn't seem large to me when it arrived it was a normal portion to me. I had Mac N cheese it wasn't thick like I expected but it was thin/liquid. So for the four of us, it was around $25-30 (with tip) each person. I would come back here for a full order of nachos instead of splitting it as we did. Very delicious Vegan spot. There was a COVID tax of 5% so keep that in mind. Staff was polite to let us know when staff approaches the table you have to wear your mask as a precautionary measure. read more

I've been coming here almost since they opened. It's been a staple, and we have enjoyed the food forever. We have not been in a while, because when we call to check on outdoor seating, they say it is not available at the time. Several dishes are eat-in only, so we just put off our visits so that we have access to the full menu. This time, we called ahead, and sat down with their online menu the day we went, to really plan what we'd like to get - including drinks. Once we arrived, we had fully chosen 2-3 beers and 2 entrees and were excited about them. Then we found out that the real menu was totally different - none of those beers was actually on the menu, and neither were the entrees. I totally understand supply issues, but I do not understand not updating your menu online in this day and age. Not only are we not the only people who like to take our time and think before getting to a restaurant, in many cases, we are making our decision based on what is advertised. If nothing jumps out at us, we might put off our visit. Keeping it relatively current and accurate is a must. This was not a case of being out of a thing or two, or a tap changing - we noticed 5 changes in the food and 4 changes in the beers, and that's only because we were interested in those items(I'm sure something else changed, but it was not on our radar). We then had to sit with the menu for quite a while, trying to figure out what we wanted all over again. It may seem like a small issue, but it put a big damper on a special celebration night to us, and put us on the spot. There was no beer we really wanted in the end. I can't imagine having to call the place to check on the availability of all the things we want - that would be so annoying for the staff. The food was good, as always. A small side would be very nice, considering the price of things like tacos. Even a few chips... Service was also good. The only thing that stunk, literally, about the outside dining, was all of the people who thought it was okay to smoke right near people dining outside(both on the sidewalk). That seemed surprising, but I don't blame the restaurant. I'll keep coming, but I sincerely hope they do better with their menu being as advertised. read more

My all time favorite restaurant in Providence! I travel for work and find a way to eat here as often as I can while I'm in the area (sometimes even multiple times a week!). The staff is SO friendly and the ambiance is wonderful. Lots of organic, vegetarian, vegan and locally sourced choices. My favorite dish is the sweet potato quesadilla but I decided to change things up today and get two appetizers for dinner - the seasonal sweet potato and corn chowder and the raw pad Thai. Both exceeded expectations and were more than enough for dinner. As a vegetarian, it is obvious that this place is awesome. For those meat eaters out there - give it a shot. Let's jump right into this one: FOOD (9/10) Honestly dislike 50% of their menu items BUT their butternut squash quesadilla is to die for. It single handedly makes up for everything else. The salsa that comes with it compliments it very well. The play between the hits of sweet and savory from the quesadilla, mixed with the natural flavors of the vegetables are delicious. Then the sourness of the salsa comes in and turns it into a party for your tastebuds. I recommend the Butternut Squash Quesadilla over everything else on the menu. SERVICE (8/10) Extremely polite. They know the menu well and can explain each dish to you. They do need a little more experience in being able to recommend the right kind of alcohol to go with each dish. We decided to have a friends' night, and chose Garden Grille because I had been hearing great things from a coworker about it, and my partner had been there once when his parents came to visit. The place was very cute. It reminded me of a favorite restaurant of ours in Las Vegas with its decor, and its concept. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We weren't exactly sure if we had one server, or if they all pool and everyone was our server. They have a great selection of local craft beers, that seem to be on rotation, since they were all written on chalkboards. I had Devil's Purse Handline Kolsch for the first time and loved it. It paired well with the Cauliflower Risotto Cakes that we ordered for an app. The app was a star. I will definitely order it again. Dinner was even better. I had the quesadilla with butternut squash, and pepperjack cheese (they have vegan cheese available, too). The combination with the black beans and avocado was really very good. The tortilla was slightly crispy on the outside, and it wasn't saturated in grease as quesadillas are wont to do. To be honest, I secretly wanted to order one to-go. Dessert was good. Well, the carrot cake was phenom, and the cheesecake was okay. The carrot cake was moist and spicy, and the "cream cheese" frosting was on point. Not too sweet, but sweet enough. MMM I've had the seitan Reuben, the Mac and cheese, Asian street tacos. Down to their carrot cake that was so creamy, moist and spicy. I honestly wasn't crazy about the mac and cheese. However there is so much other goodness there I'll be fine. Plus I at least tried it :) The place is so hipster and trendy. I hope they open more locations. Garden Grille made me wish that I lived in Providence. I can't eat dairy and I'm trying not to eat too much meat, so when I visited, my vegetarian friend took me to a vegan-friendly restaurant. I was excited to try Garden Grille based on the great Yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint! We arrived around 8:30 on a Friday night. The inside was small but cute (it has both tables and bar seats), and there was outdoor patio seating as well. We were seated right away at an inside table in the corner, and it wasn't too crowded or noisy. To start with, we ordered drinks (I got an earl grey alcoholic drink and my friend got a cucumber martini). We ordered the tempeh spring roll appetizer ($7) to share. For the main course, I ordered the mushroom risotto cake ($17) and my friend ordered a tofu steak special. My earl grey drink was really lemon-y, and didn't taste too much of Earl Grey. I was a bit disappointed, but my friend's drink was delicious! The tempeh spring rolls were not what I expected- they were a bit heavier and spicier. However, after a few bites I adjusted, and it was actually quite good! I was really excited when our main course came out- my mushroom risotto cakes were AMAZING. It was served with broccoli rabe, oyster mushrooms, turnips, cashew cream and a wine syrup. I ate every bite of it, and I'm wishing I had more right now. I'd definitely return to eat this whenever possible. My friend's tofu steak was huge and was surprisingly delicious- we both loved it as well. Our meal was moderately priced, memorable, and tasty. I credit a friend for re-introducing me to this venue and for pointing out what's good on the menu, especially since I never found a reason to come back after visiting many years ago. I'm not vegetarian, but the BLT was so flavorful I couldn't tell it was meatless! Excellent with the avocados. 5 stars for this alone for which I'll be returning.
