I found Garden Passages through the internet while looking for new gates for my recently built Block Wall Privacy Fence. I was looking for well built and durable fence gates and I really liked the various unique designs shown on their website. The process takes a little time and planning, but if you are looking for a well constructed gate with a unique design then these guys are it!!!! The process started with a meeting with David Sr at the Garden Passages office to chose a gate design, stain, hardware, and initial measurements. I ordered two Tuscan style gates from Garden Passages and they were recently installed. I received exactly what I expected and I am extremely satisfied with the final product including the install by "Super Installer" Terry Busac they sent to install them. We needed a new gate for our new house. I sent out 3 price quote requests through Yelp. The two other companies got back to me very quickly, but with just a number, nothing else. But when David Jr got back to me, he had a design of the gate and an itemized quote for me. He even invited me to stop by to check out their showroom. Although Garden Passages' location is the farthest ftom my house among the 3 companies, I still decided to pay them a visit. I was completely sold after I met with David Jr. and see their work. David Sr. is just as professional and helpful as David Jr. When he came out to do the measurements, he showed up on time and helped me select the color of the gate. He even gave me some suggestions on our landscaping work, which is well appreciated. Since we needed the gate in a hurry, David Jr. put a rush order for us and it was done two weeks sooner than we anticipated. Terry, the installer is just as awesome. My husband and I are so grateful for finding Garden Passages! We had received an estimate from them last August, and decided to go with another (cheaper!) bid for 2 exterior gates with attached panels. We had the cheaper gates & panels installed and after one rain & wind storm, they were a mess. They had swollen, and the wind had battered them to the point that they didn't close properly. This was only one month after they were installed for $2,500 - they looked terrible. That was basically money we threw away, because we decided in March to call Garden Passages back and have them take out the monstrosities that had been installed, and put in their product. David Sr came out to Orange Park Acres to measure, David Jr did the design, and we had gorgeous, custom gates and panels made and installed within 3 weeks! The installer Terry was masterful....and a perfectionist, which we totally appreciate. Also, after reading a negative review about Susan, I have to give a shout-out to her. She was always kind and professional on the phone.....really delightful, actually. In 2007, we totally remodeled our swimming pool, hardscape and landscape and we were fortunate to have found Garden Passages to provide four new custom gates and acpool equipment enclosure. The center post on the equipment enclosure finally became loose at the base and I called Garden Passages to see if they could help me out. The following week, the owner David came out to survey the problem. He advised he'd be sending out his installers to fix the issue. I had three gates make from Garden Passages. About 4 years after installation they needed to be replaced. They had been refinished twice in the four year time span to protect the would and restore the appearance. The wood is splintering and all the screws used were just drywall screws and have stripped out. The frosted glass inserts should have been sandwiched between two pieces of glass instead of with the frosting on the surface because if you touch it with any cleaning product mild or otherwise, it takes the frosting off of the glass. The gates were a very poor decision on my part and now need to be replaced. They did look nice for about 6 months but after that started to deteriorate. read more

Dave was on time for our first consultation and showed me his portfolio (images of gates, samples, etc). I selected a few wooden gates with grills and claves to show my husband and family. We told him we'd like to order through them and on our 2nd consultation, Dave finalized the details and sketched our gate for us. We were all excited as the gates in our neighborhood look fantastic, so we were confident they would deliver. And they definitely delivered! I wasn't here for the installation, but my husband raved about the gate and said it looked awesome. He also commented that Sean, the installer, did an excellent job. They also installed some small touches that set them apart (e.g., door stoppers, protective studs). When I got home, the gate was more beautiful than I imagined. Perfectly crafted and stained. Worth the price! The gates seem to run about $900-$1500, approximately, depending on the thickness, grills, handles, etc. Installation was a separate charge of $185. Dave said it would take about 5 weeks but he was able to move up production and we received the gate in about 2 weeks. The gates on their websites do not do them justice (hope they update their site with additional photos!).
