Chicken fried rice
Terry P.

The service is great! The food is great! The parking is easy. The inside is big, spacious, and clean. Lots of people order to-go, but eating here is easy too. The food is made to order, and is made very well using very fresh ingredients. Definitely worth the try!

I am not particularly picky when it comes to eatting. Outside of seafood I have tried to broaden my horizons when it comes to eating. In this case I never really restrict myself to a vegetarian diet but at the same time I realize I need to at times so I can come across locations with such a fantastic menu as Garden Wok. Garden Wok has been on my list for a while and I finally had a chance to sit down and try their food and they did not disappoint. In fact they really impressed me. I've had occasion to try vegetarian versions of dishes at other places that have left me feeling "meh". This was NOT the case with Garden Wok. Every item I tried was delicious and had a great flavor! Their "chicken" drumettes were phenomenal and are a must have when I return. While the rest of their sampler platter didn't blow me away, do not think the spring rolls or wontons were less, they each had a wonderful complexity and taste. The Orange "Chicken" I tried was fantastic as well. I usually dislike having the sauce on the top but here the sauce was fantstic. Not overpowering at all and really complimented the perfectly fried "chicken" to provide a fantastic meal. Whether you are on a vegetarian diet or just want a fantastic meal, Garden Wok has you covered.

The place is clean. I came here in the late afternoon after work. I have been wanting to visit Garden Wok for a long time and it was bookmarked for like over a couple of years now. I finally got the opportunity to come here and tried their food. I got lettuce wrap and shrimp chow mein. The dish and appetizer are both fantastic top quality cook. I absolutely love the flavor of chow mein. Not too sweet or salty, perfectly seasoned, enough flavor, not too plain or watery down. I can't believe I didn't come earlier until now. I am glad to say I will definitely return here to try more dishes. I would say Garden Wok is one of the best Chinese Vegan food places. The woman was ready to accomodate with a Deaf person like me, gave me the order slip to write on, and they did brought exactly what I ordered. Even though Yelp app has photos I can see, the only thing I would like that is for their menu to include pictures of some popular dishes or appetizers but it doesn't stop me from giving 5 full stars. ^^

Spicy Fried Tofu Fried Rice

Lots of parking available! The food here is so good! The orange chicken is so crispy! The sauce is runny and really coats every morsel! The broccoli beef resembles beef so well! It has a chew to it and the "meat" absorbed the sweet soy sauce like a sponge! The fried rice was the sleeping winner for me! Didn't look special but full of flavor not spicy at all! Definitely getting the orange chicken and the fried rice again! Inside has a lot of things to look at especially if you like Chinese zodiacs! Very good conversation starter! Water is tap maybe bring your own water Go veggies!

Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, wontons

All-around delicious vegan food! We ordered the wontons, the kung pao chicken, and the orange chicken. Everything was flavorful and well-seasoned. We were licking our plates. We called at 9pm on a Sunday hoping to place an order (the kitchen was closing) and the owner was very gracious and accepted our order with a very quick turnaround. Be sure to call ahead as the hours online may be incorrect.

Vegetarian Chinese Food restaurant. An unexpected find, thanks to a friend, in Tarzana - just North of Topham. The best egg rolls! And my favorite entree dish is the steamed Tofu with steamed broccoli - so good!!!! And Sherry - I think she's the owner, is great!!

Basil Eggplant

Its been a bit since we last came here. This time we got the Golden Tofu Squares, the Basil Eggplant, bok choi and mushrooms, and lastly, the kung pao chicken. Overall, everything was good, but there wasn't as much seasoning as I would have liked. But, being that this is a healthy restaurant, it probably was better for me :-). Also, my wife asked for no spice on the kung pao as it didn't have any spice. Our mistake The atmosphere is comfortable. The server was alone handling 3 tables and take out orders. Things took slightly longer than normal, but not too long. Next time I'll remember to include spice on the kung pao. Despite that, its worth the trip here.

Tried this place today and couldn't believe how good it was! Tried the platter as well as the sweet and sour chicken. Also the place is so cute on the inside. Would be a great place to go on a date. Also the lady working was really kind and helpful. The sweet and sour chicken was mushroom and fried very lightly, just delicious. The fake chicken drumettes on the sampler were soooo good. I want to come back just for those. I will be back and I'm not a vegetarian

Vegan Orange Chicken - delicious!

Updating my review! I've been coming here for over 20 years, I just realized. Same delicious food, comfortable and casual atmosphere, same wonderful human answering the phone. I love this place. I recently got the vegan orange chicken. It was crispy, flavorful. It comes with crisp, fresh broccoli. I was really into Panda Express Beyond orange chicken for a while (when it was available). Garden Wok's orange chicken blows away it tho, TBH! One of my top 5 fave vegan places in SoCal.

Orange Veggie Chicken
Tena D.

such a great vegetarian restaurant in the valley! service is always friendly, and doesn't take long considering it's a one woman show. i have to recommend the orange chicken! so crispy and delicious, and the fake meat seemed mushroom based. the spicy tofu fried rice wasn't spicy imo, but had great flavor to it and i will definitely be getting those two again. the beef and broccoli is pretty standard, the beef is a pretty good imitation and has a similar bite to real beef. we also got the appetizer sampler, and the highlight was the chicken drumsticks for sure! parking is easy in the lot, and it never seems too busy, so i definitely recommend to anyone looking for authentic chinese veg food in the valley :)

Do they serve wine and beer?

They do not last time I checked and as long as I've been going here. I don't believe they have or are in any process to obtain a liquor license.

Are there anymore t-shirts left to purchase?

Yes!!! More sizes in gray than black.

Is this place safe for someone with a peanut allergy?

No. I wouldn't...

Do they offer outdoor seating? Or only takeout?

Only take out.

Does anyone know if there still open for takeout right now ? Whenever I call it has a busy dial tone

Yes they are open now!

Does anyone know if this place is still open? I just checked and there's no signs about a closing, but also no one was there.

Yes, they are still open.

Do they serve gluten-free entrees?

Yes

So we decided to give them a try. WORST. CHINESE FOOD. EVER!!! There are cheap Chinese fast food takeout that are way more delicious than they are. Their food is about as below average as those cheap bad Chinese fast food takeout. The noodles and steamed rice smelled like old burlap sack! The food we ordered either had no taste, not tasty at all, or it smelled. My mom and I swore we'd never go back. A couple of weeks ago, I was craving fried noodles. I don't know why I decided to give them a try again. What a waste of money!!! One thing improved, I guess... At least the noodles didn't smell like old burlap sack. As for taste... zero, nothing, bland AF and to top it all off, the noodles were over cooked so it's mushy!!! Seriously a Chinese restaurant who can't cook noodles??? WTH??? Anyway... It was disgusting! I ate a few bites, threw away the rest. What a waste of money!!! I don't know who keeps giving them praises for their food. May be those people just don't know any better and they've never had any good Chinese food. Golden City is definitely a "HELL NO! Never again!!!" for me. Perhaps it's because I'm Chinese that I hold a higher standard, but seriously... this place was disgustingly inedible!

Upon entry there is a takeout area where you can order hot meat dishes and to go menu or dine in. We got complimentary hot tea when seated. The interior is a bit dated compared with other restaurants of this type but the food was delicious. We ate with the chili and white paper available at the table. Next came the scrambled egg and shrimp. We actually ordered the version with rice, not the entree so the servers got us some rice but missing the gravy. Lastly came the bbq combo plate. We thought it would arrive first since the meats were all ready to go in the takeout area. It came with some hoisin sauce. The char siu was tasty. It's one of those places where it's loud because customers are ordering from the barbecue stall adjacent to the dining room, which is filled with diners at every table. Lots of wait staff are milling about, busy taking orders, delivering dishes to diners, and turning tables for the next set of guests waiting their turn. I got off a 7-day trip from Seattle and was craving roasted duck. I thought I was going to just grab-n-go on this trip but decided to grab lunch with the fam. We kept it simple with 3 main dishes. The watercress stirfried with garlic is always a staple at every Chinese restaurant meal. Their porkchops here was neither greasy or salty. It had the right amount of seasoning and crunch. Also got the beef chowfun. When ordering, the waiter will always ask whether you want dry or with gravy. I almost always prefer the dry variation. There was plenty food for 3 people and still had leftovers to take home. Not pictured here is the whole roasted duck I purchased or the glistening array of duck and other barbecued meats they sell for to go.
