    Original Crowd Pleaser Curry

My wife and I were looking for somewhere to eat that we could walk to and found this hidden gem. From the outside it doesn't look much but the food really does pack some flavor. It's a one man band running everything, including his own drum kit. He mentioned it's been this way since Covid Can't believe more people aren't talking about this place. I had to og curry and my wife the vegan, we got it hot and it came with a little hit, I would have preferred maybe a little more The curry sauce is really on point for what to expect with the Japanese Curry and some of the fusion

Been wanting to try this place since my bf and I love curry and the one time we decided to try it, we arrived to a sign on the door that they were closed due to holiday catering. Bummer we drove all the way there (approx 30 min) since Yelp said the business was open. But that didn't stop us! We came by yesterday to finally try this spot and were happy it was open. It was just my bf and I at first but then a family showed up shortly after which actually ended up being his family. Such a wholesome owner and spot. Parking was easy, there's some free 2 hr parking on the small street nearby if you don't find any metered parking up front. Ventura can be busy!! They had two tv's on, one right next to our table that was playing some kpop stuff and then one by the kitchen hat had what looked like MXC (great show)! Super small spot with maybe like 5-6 tables max. Service was pretty quick and he even gave us a tofu sesame salad while we waited for our main food. Super nice! I went for the Hangover Fries which has Thai cheese and curry cheese, Hawaiian kalua pork, and two fried eggs over steak fries. I wasn't very hungry so I couldn't finish it but it was delicious! I honestly wish there was more curry sauce to cover all of the fries. I was most excited for their chilaquiles but it seemed to be discontinued. My bf wanted the loco moco but he was also out of beef patties for it so he got the DJ Meal instead which was a curry Katsu rice plate. Overall food was delicious and would love to try the other items on the menu since there were some really cool options. He prepared a giant Hawaiian bun burger for his family while we were there and it looked incredible! Massive and awesome to see prepared. IG: @ammysalamii

Mini dj meal, Chicken Cutlet Curry

Found such a cute, cozy and yummy spot for dinner! The vibe was so chill with a fun little video game table to occupy your time while waiting for the delicious food to cook!! Loved the dim light, coffee shop vibe of this curry spot!! They have lots of items to choose from! We tried the dj meal and it did not disappoint! The curry was perfect, got it mild, and the eggs cooked to over easy perfection! The serving was large and filling and the chicken cutlets were crispy and chicken perfectly moist and full of flavor. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu! Next time we will try a ramen and a pork dish! Going to try every item because it all looks amazing! The service was also very good! We went on a Friday night before closing and we were surprised to see it empty. They were out of the Thai tea coffees, so hopefully get to try it next week!

Spotted this place near my hotel in woodland hills and stumbled in on a weeknight. Sat down and had a wonderful meal and a chat with chef wongie. I ordered the DJ meal, which was chicken cutlet with curry sauce rice and veggies with 2 eggs on top. I was brought a delicious salad to start. Perfect comfort food meal. Wongie was a great host. Absolutely lovely laid back spot.

Quiet on a Tuesday ~6PM, but the music is poppin' lol. Chef Wongie works quick even though he was by himself. Honestly food is 10/10. The asian fusion eg Thai fries, Tiger woods, etc was very tempting. Overall, def on the pricier side... Average is $20+. Curry flavor is prominent (not diluted like some places), generous bits of soft potatoes and veggies... the sides of ginger and raisins (like whaat) were a nice touch too. I got the chicken curry. Could've had more meat, but the sauce:rice ratio was perfect. I CLEANED this plate and was very full with this + the complimentary tofu salad (unique!). I got the hot and it was a nice kick. Might try the freakin' hot next time. Friends got the DJ set + hot and they were pleasantly surprised by the runny egg. The chicken cutlet was bomb. It is expensive tho, but I can understand bc of the area. Worth a try, but a treat-yourself type of place.

This place was empty, depressing, and the food reflected it. I knew we were in trouble when they were out of Coke. So I stuck with water. The waiter poured me warm water from a pitcher. When I asked for ice, he put one ice cube in my glass. Not a good start. The salad was excellent. All the greens and veggies were fresh, and the dressing was tasty. But it was downhill after that. I got the Japanese curry chicken cutlet, "hot" on the spicy level. It was bland, and what flavor there was was off. I could barely detect any heat. The curry sauce left a nasty aftertaste that lingered even after I left the place. Even the rice was sticky and mushy. I know I came in a Tuesday night, but if you're going to stay open and charge $21 per plate, you need to do better than this. UPDATE: You do yourself no favors by writing such a surly response. It just makes you look bad. Take a look at my other reviews. I'm not hard to please. I routinely give 4 and 5 star reviews. You just didn't merit it. Consider focusing on food quality, and accept constructive criticism as a means to improvement, rather than an opportunity to lash out at your customers. And did you compare putting a single ice cube in whiskey -- to keep from diluting it -- to doing the same thing with water? I'm surprised to have to tell you this, but you can't dilute water with ice. Thanks, but I'll pass on the free meal.

Chef Wongie does such a good job with his curry making it from scratch every day. I come often when I'm in Woodland Hills and really appreciate his personal service and the excellent consistent quality of the food. I don't do any dairy nor do any meat so his selection is perfect for me. Very few places add tofu to the salad which gives you an extra boost to protein. I recommend the fish katsu curry and also the shrimp curry. The curry comes in different spice levels, and for me, I usually get the mild level!

Food here is great as always, I don't know why there's someone using my picture for their review which is crazy, the chicken was NOT dry, the curry was NOT bland and overall everything tasted amazing. Whoever "Da J" is - I don't know why you're using my pictures and writing a bad review, everything he says is a lie, as I've ordered from here multiple times and nothing he says ever happened to me. Chef Wongi is a good dude, don't fall for trolls. Keep doing what you're doing brother! Will be back again!

    The Crowd Pleaser

Great quality dishes. I highly recommend the Korean beef potstickers. The Crowd Pleaser plate really measures up against anything served on Ventura Blvd and I'm a Native to this area. I'm looking forward to dining here for years to come. The Chef is very personable and clearly dedicated to his Craft.

This sorry display of curry from the store. You can taste the dryness through your phone.

Lol 2 portions of curry? Did you know you can cook curry in batches? You just since it tastes like you use month old curry in every order. You can't even make rice correctly. Look at the mush in your delivery picture. They clear dryness of your chicken. Honestly how can you even say with a straight face that it's worth the price you're charging. Hey I have a great idea. Why don't I make my curry and bring it to your restaurant and you can serve your slop and we will have people actually judge it. You wouldn't dare. It takes you 30 mins to make rice? Holy shit here I thought I could wash my rice and put it in a rice cooker in 30 seconds. Spend about 15 mins to actually cook the curry. You want me to order a to go order of your slop and make a fresh batch in the time for it takes to get here? You're honestly pathetic. And I'm going to order yours just to prove a point. Because people need to be educated on your terrible food.

    Salad to start... omg.

I am so glad we wandered in here. If you're seeing this, try it out, you will not be disappointed. This place is absolutely no bullshit, I wish I had enough room to finish everything. Wongie's hangover fries are exactly what I plan to order next time I'm hungover. Or not hungover. The fries were super hot (and stayed hot, which is so rare) and clearly made super fresh. The curry sauce they were drenched in... I almost licked the plate. The Cantonese egg foo young was absolutely crazy too- tons of flavor and honestly a flavor I've never had in my life. Lastly, the chef was awesome. Chris is an insane cook, made everything on the spot, and was a really cool cat to chat with. I will absolutely be back.

Perfectly packaged so it doesn't get soggy!!

Best curry in the valley!! Amazing service from an owner and chef that puts his heart and soul into his food!

    Nijole T.

You really feel like you were invited by a dear old fried when stepping in here. Our son was treated as his own, really something you rarely come across. So cozy and welcoming, really nothing like it. Service is exceptional, attentive, but informal, the food will feed your soul and your stomach. You can taste the love and passion that goes I to each dish, the curry fries were life altering, flavors I remembered from my childhood, so much going on in each bite, if I lived closer you would find me ordering these once a week, calorie laden or not, it's would food and goes straight to the heart. Their veggie curry and rice also a winner, simple and delicious, great value. The menu is extensive, many many items I'd love to come back and try, but their curry fries will forever haunt me in my dreams in the best possible way. Highly highly recommended!
