My Cartier battery gave out so I called several watch repair shops in the area and settled on Gardena Watch Company. The owner Yas gave me the most reassured feeling over the phone because he was upfront of what he can and cannot do given that certain Cartier parts such as the gasket are only available direct from Cartier. I went ahead and replaced the battery with Yas on the spot. He runs his operation with integrity which is important if you're entrusting someone with your prized heirloom. He noticed that my screws had some wear, probably from the Vietnamese shop Kim Phat I used to visit in Chinatown who used dull and cheap tools. I have no doubt the owner is a nice guy nor do I wish to slight his knowledge. However, when I bought a couple watches with the Ronda 5040D and E movements that had a missing screw going to the battery bridal. The other had a Seagull Automatic movement with a crown issue. For all of these he said he did not stock parts for the watches and I needed to send them to the Manufacturer to be repaired. The movements in the watches are not uncommon now a days and was very surprised by his answer. DId not have a screw for a common watch movement? Not much of a watch repair shop based on my first and only visit. If you need your watch battery changed, seems this is your place. Anything else? Forget about it. read more

No-fuss service and I was in and out in probably 5 minutes, barely enough time to check out the neat collectables in the glass display cases around the small shop. I had the good fortune to walk into this store last Thursday after talking to Yas the day before when my phone, TV, and computer were functioning. Yas quoted the best price for my rubber replacement Seiko watch band, and he had the band at his store. During the night my U-Verse went kaput, but I went down to his store Thursday morning. Yas replaced the band in a minute or so and then used his phone to get me in touch with my cable provider. He got their number than handed me the phone once he got them on his line. I didn't even have a cellular so I was a duck out of water. He handed me the phone as he went about doing work in his shop and handling a customer. I had spoken to the owner on the phone about a windup Gruen watch that I loved. He told me that depending on the type of repair needed, that it could run up to $250. So I brought it in for him to take a look. He determined that the mechanism was flawed and that it continually go into disrepair. He recommended not to repair it and to spend the same money on a better running watch. His honesty was totally refreshing in this day and age!! So I ended buying one of the watches in his shop, another windup beauty!!!! I highly recommend this establishment!!! He lost my long time business to "Mr. Time" in Torrance that I recommend who was right that all I need is a new battery costing only $8 in which he falsely tested instead of my worthless watch. If unsuccessful, she would use that credit to pay for the balance towards a new mechanism for "improvement" at a reasonable fee, but so far, it's accurate after three days. read more
