My only negative is they don't seem to realize when customers enter as they are not greeted and can take several minutes before someone comes up front and realizes a customer or food delivery pick up is waiting. My boyfriend and I needed some time to kill and we saw that Garden's Gourmet was participating in the Equity in Action for Women's History month so we decided to stop by. They share parking a few other businesses and it was pretty busy when we got there but we snagged a spot. As we entered, we greeted by the owners who welcomed us and gave us menus to look through. They have a decent sized menu but not too overwhelming and if you don't like the options offered then you can do a create your own which is sweet! My boyfriend got their garden wrap with a garlic and herb tortilla while I got their Washington Apple wrap with a garlic and herb tortilla. There was an order ahead of us but the employees got the orders made in a good amount of time and presentation was a nice touch too. The wraps had a great ratio of all the listed ingredients and you can yaste everything in each bite. The ingredients tasted and looked fresh! The interior is very cozy with plenty of seating that accommodates solo, couples or small groups. They have great lighting in there, both natural and inside. They had some old school RnB playing which was nostalgic for me as I heard a lot of these as a pre-teen. I came to support this woman-owned business during Women's History Month. I love the concept of eating healthy and having it your way (salad, wrap, etc). The inside is simply decorated, clean and a bit dark (on a gloomy day). $14 for cheap ingredients that you can get in any grocery store salad mix. I had the Sebi which supposedly had "meat". The "meat" both in appearance and taste was unidentifiable. Nor did it taste good. The texture of the "meat" can only be described by violating Yelp's TOU. On top of this their soda machine has been long since discontinued. Came here after church one day. Restaurant is located in a strip mall area. Parking was pretty full when we where there, but was able to park in the same parking lot. We walked in a were greeted by the worker there. He was very friendly. They have options of cold and warm bowls as well as a few smoothies, soups, sandwiches and a few other options. The restaurant has different size tables and booths, it looked like a clean space. The owner was there as well prepping our dishes. My husband got the Taco Bowl and I got the Gourmet Bowl. Our food took a little while to come out (maybe 10-15 mins), but I know that is because it was made fresh. The owner came out and brought us our food and chatted for a minute. Very friendly. I am dreaming of this salad. Support this Black-owned, woman-owned business! I don't live in Tacoma, but would once again take the 10 minute driving detour to get a salad from here again. I believe I met the owner while she was training a new hire. Absolutely phenomenal women. Training folks is hard, especially when your salads have so much character. Service was impeccable. Both women were very considerate and helpful with questions I had. The seating area is adorable. I jumped on their WiFi and had a Zoom meeting while munching on this delicious salad. I'm vegetarian, but wasn't craving a veggie sausage this meal. I'm definitely considering adding some to my home salads now. I haven't tried that yet. I usually add an impossible patty or tofu to my salads at home. But I would 100% add anything I would put on a pizza on a salad, and a veggie sausage is one of those options! I'm sad I live so far away. The dressing was very unique. Sweet, but not too sweet. The crunch with the teeny broccoli bits and nuts was perfect. I could go without the mandarin oranges, but that's just because I don't usually like fruit in syrup. Canned pears I can tolerate in syrup. I think the mandarin oranges are from a fruit cup though. No canned taste. Everything else on the salad was fresh, loved for, and perfect. I 100% understand why the mandarin oranges are on the salad. They tie the flavor profile together nicely. I ordered the half Evergreen salad with salmon and avocado- lime dressing and my son got the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. Sorry, didnt get a pic of his but he liked it and my bite was delish too, just a but small to consider it a full meal- not their fault. Its hard to judge these things from a delivery menu. My salad was pretty tasty, although the avocado could have been a little fresher. I wish id gotten the larger size because it is pretty small- more like a side salad but i do like it. Im a little unsure about the salmon- it doesnt seem fresh? It almost seems like it came out of a can? Its not awful...maybe im just not used to seeing it in this form. I had been wanting to try this place for ages, as my office has had one of their menus on the board in the breakroom for several years. I went there today and ordered the Aztec salad, and brought it back to the office to eat (a 20 minute drive one-way). It wasn't until I'd started peeling the tails off the shrimp that I noticed that they hadn't been deveined. I don't know health codes but this seems like a violation. If I hadn't already driven 40 minutes roundtrip I'd have considered bringing it back. But time was limited, so I just gave it up. The rest of the salad was fine, though nothing spectacular. The staff was friendly and the interior of their store was clean, so I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. Upon entering, we received a friendly greeting. Since we had not been there before, the owner kindly explained the process, which is easy. The establishment is clean, bright and inviting. The food is fresh and delicious, and exactly what I wanted, because I chose every ingredient! This will be my go-to "Fast Food" from now on. I will rescore this business. I drove across Tacoma to get here a d they were closed this weekend for cleaning etc. I have read about this female black owned business by an amazing staff. Their salads look amazing and some combo's similar to what I make at home for salads, wraps, soups, and desserts. Prices are for a large or half portions(thank you).
