The red beans and rice are outstanding!

I just had a fantastic lunch at Velvet's Big Easy in Parkland. This place is a hidden gem! The owner and chef, Brenda was warm and hospitable and the food was beyond good! I had the red beans and rice with chicken and will be dreaming about it until I come back. My husband had catfish and grits and was instantly in love. He's very particular about catfish because his mother used to make it for him and it's the standard that everything else is held to. This is the first time I've ever seen him completely satisfied with catfish in the PNW. Needless to say, we will be back! We were told that they have live jazz music on some weekends so it will be great to combine an excellent meal with some live jazz. Thank you Brenda for a wonderful lunch!

Ordered online from Velvet's Big Easy with a 17-minute pickup time. Showed up after 20 minutes and it wasn't ready. The cashier was polite, but the owner came out and loudly scolded him, saying she told him the day before to change online orders to a one-hour wait and "the dasher will have to wait." I wasn't a dasher--I placed my own order. This was my third time trying this place, and it's been disappointing every time. I support Black-owned businesses, but the food is overpriced for the quality and the service was unprofessional. Won't be back.

This might just be our favorite place to eat in Lakewood/Parkland area. They haven't missed once, servers are personable and fun, the live music is great, and Miss Velvet herself is such a sweetheart. We will be back again and again!

Cute! Very warm greeting from owner and staff. We arrived in time for HH. At the time they were doing a HH promotion for one free piece of fish and fries with purchase of a specialty drink. The fish was good, hot and fresh. Fries were okay too. Dill sauce went well with fish. Tried the hot sauce, on the sweet side. Had several drinks to try the menu and decided to order the red beans and rice which comes with chicken wings. It was decent. The lady tending bar was friendly and worked well with customizing drinks and open on ways to improve cocktails. Decent place, a little pricey. We would return.

The food was great. Great collard greens and the spicy coleslaw is a great idea. First time seeing it on any menu. The shrimp were also great, maybe too salty for some. The catfish was good too. The Johnny cake was awesome and probably a staple if you come here to eat. Also had live music which sets a great ambiance. Probably would've been to loud if I was in the main dining section but since I was in the bar was perfect. Service was top notch too. Already planning what else to get the next time I come through

The food was very good. The ambience is amazing and the customer service is decent. The best part of the ambience is that the owner/chef for herself, came out and checked on us and asked what we thought she was very kind. Our server was not very descriptive and good on selling what we Should eat or suggesting I will say I was highly surprised that the pork chop meal was a dollar more than the seafood plate. The sizes of the sides were not big enough. In my opinion I wouldn't have liked to see different options of hot sauce besides just Tabasco now the dessert beignets in both of our opinion they were not cooked enough a little chew deli and overpriced. We won't be ordering those again. We did ask for fried cake or fried pie, but it was not available so I will definitely be back and next time I will try the catfish and a large side of greens conveniently located with an ample amount of parking

When you walk into Velvet's Big Easy, you were taking back to New Orleans. The walls are beautifully decorated, and you do not feel crowded. Service is very good, you feel like family. The food is amazing. Everybody cleaned up their plates. I would strongly suggest the red beans and rice or the shrimp Poboy.

This place is a hidden gem. It's right of Pacific and 146th tucked off the main drag. Very clean, great decor, great parking, wonderful service. The food was probably one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. Ordered Red Beans and Rice, Collard greens and the peach dessert. I only have wonderful things to say, food was hot hot hot, presentation was amazing and every flavor was out of this world. The owner and chef came out and greeted us after our meal. This is what dining should be. Drop what you are doing and get in there, you won't be disappointed.

The menu also shows sandwiches, soups and warm bowls. I don't know the area well but surprised they didn't have more people in during the lunch hour. My only negative is they don't seem to realize when customers enter as they are not greeted and can take several minutes before someone comes up front and realizes a customer or food delivery pick up is waiting. Would definitely go back when in the area.

They have a decent sized menu but not too overwhelming and if you don't like the options offered then you can do a create your own which is sweet! My boyfriend got their garden wrap with a garlic and herb tortilla while I got their Washington Apple wrap with a garlic and herb tortilla. There was an order ahead of us but the employees got the orders made in a good amount of time and presentation was a nice touch too. The wraps had a great ratio of all the listed ingredients and you can yaste everything in each bite. The ingredients tasted and looked fresh! The interior is very cozy with plenty of seating that accommodates solo, couples or small groups. They have great lighting in there, both natural and inside. They had some old school RnB playing which was nostalgic for me as I heard a lot of these as a pre-teen. Definitely a fantastic spot, especially if you are trying to eat or be more healthy conscious but still have a flavorful meal!

We were quickly seated for our reservation, and our server was friendly & attentive. We started off with a delectable appetizer special of burrata with heirloom tomatoes, pesto and olive tapenade. The tangy tapenade really complimented the creamy burrata. We were also served the softest french bread, which sopped up the pesto so nicely. We were lucky enough to get a bite of all 4 dinner entrees on the table. I ordered one of the daily specials, the Saltimbocca. The chicken/prosciutto combo was so flavorful in the white wine sauce. The portion was plentiful, I could have taken a doggy bag, but devoured it bite by bite. I was thankful to have made this choice - score! Hubs ordered the Diavola pizza, with crisp pepperoni and pickled serranos. Either the serranos or red pepper sauce gave it quite the kick, not overly, but deliciously. It was perfectly crispy! Family ordered Carbonara and the lamb ragu. Both great portions, very flavorful! Our dinners came with a salad, which was a perfectly lightly dressed compliment to the appetizer and mains. We drove quite awhile in 5:00 traffic to get here, but it was well worth it. We savoured every bite!

No reservations. There was 1 spot open in the small dedicated lot and then I found a spot on the street. Recommend coming in fewer vehicles if possible. No reservation at peak dinner time (5:30) on a Wednesday, the host (and manager?) found a spot for us promptly anyway and he was super kind and our server for the night. Preschooler was asleep in my arms, but we made it work. We ordered: 1 rose cider (sweet but not too sweet), 1 pulpo (grilled octopus!) starter, 1 boscaiola pasta for the preschooler (boxed leftovers), 1 spring ravioli (more Italian name), and 1 rabbit with polenta entree. Each main came with salad and meal started with bread and whipped butter. We were offered a kid menu option of pasta with alfredo, marinara, or bolognese sauce, but opted for normal menu so we could bring back leftovers. We loved the pulpo and the salads (they offered to box up the preschoolers salad since she was still sleeping). Kid enjoyed the bread. Bit of a wait for mains but nothing out of the ordinary. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. Boscaiola was a hit with the kiddo since she loves pasta and sauce and mushrooms and cheese. Husband thought his main was really good. I was so full after eating all of my ravioli. Really impressed with the quality of food and the level of service. A busy place, but as mentioned, we were luckily seated right away. We're thrilled to have finally made it here after our old Italian standby in proctor shutdown and we can't wait to come back! Definitely recommend. Parking: you can find it, not plentiful but not bad either. Kid friendly: sort of! If your kid likes pizza or pasta!

I always encouraged people to patronize any of the three locations. I bragged on the quality, the quantity, and the deliciousness. After my experience yesterday never again! I have noticed that for the last couple of years the portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. Granted, prices have gone up on everything, not just at this restaurant. So that part is understandable. I'm not mad about that. What I'm extremely frustrated about, i'm actually angry, is that they served me a salad with barely any meat on it. I got the ruben salad last night through the drive up. When she handed me the bag out the window, it literally felt like a feather. When I got home, it was basically all lettuce, a tiny bit of saurkraut, some croutons, my garlic deal dressing, and a very a thin slice of the corned beef or whatever the meat was supposed to be. Literally, they give me a salad with a piece of meat smaller than the length and width of my pinky finger. That bowl of lettuce cost me sixteen dollars plus my tip. Yeah I'm angry about it. It is very rare for me to get angry. Getting home in Kingston, expecting to have an awesome dinner, and having this after I paid that much. Infuriating. I will give them credit for having the nicest crew. They have awesome customer service at the drive up, thus the 2 stars this time. The two stars are for the employees, otherwise this particular experience would be a negative or zero star.
