I suspected my brakes were at their life end. I called them with a tight window to get it done and they were able to schedule me in less than a week. They did a full inspection and found some additional legit issues that had they not caught them, I would have likely been regretting the trip with a breakdown. Ended up getting the serpentine belt done and front joints on 4WD done. Recent reviews concerned me but my experience was great, they got everything done in time, and the long trip was flawless. They waived the inspection fee as well. Can't speak to others experience but mine has always been good here. Been using them since 2019.

If you've never experienced out-of-warranty service before, it is far different than 'dealer service.' So many weird little (and big) things crop up that rarely do within the first 3-years of a cars life. The typical dealership will replace every part they can -- at full list price. Lakeside actually provides sound advice as to what 'must' be replaced versus what can wait a bit longer. They also have far better rates than any other shop or dealership I've found. They've never given me bad advice and have always done great work. I rarely post reviews because most businesses are mediocre. Lakeside is truly among the best. If you really like your car, there is no better place in the area to get it serviced.

We took our vehicle to the nearest auto repair and they confirmed it was an issue with the alternator and at the current rate, we wouldn't make it back home without repairing it. Although helpful, they unfortunately could not service our vehicle due to being short staffed. Knowing this was an alternator issue we called several other auto repair businesses (including a Honda dealership) and no one had any availability until the following week; it was currently Wednesday. Losing hope and already thinking of alternative ways to get home we called Traverse City Public Service Garage (TCPSG) and they luckily had someone available to re-diagnose and potentially service our vehicle (it was about 1pm at this time). Upon arrival they were able to verify the issue, order the faulty part from one of their local suppliers, have it delivered, and installed it in about 4 hours or so. While there was an element of luck that came into play (available mechanic, supplier with the part, time of day, etc.), the service we received was both friendly and fair all things considered. The good folks at TCPSG got our vehicle back up and running and we ultimately got back home later that evening safely and in one piece. From me and my family, thank you Traverse City Public Service Garage for your hospitality and quality service.

The first person who looked at it thought the AC compressor needed to be replaced to be safe to drive but they had a second person look at it and he was able to offer a quick fix to get us up and going. We were ready to leave it and have it fixed when their AC person was available but they were honest and gave us a better option even though it cost them business. Brad Smith and his team are great. They are knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They were able to get my Lexus in and change the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, brakes and more in short notice. Brad didn't try to talk me into anything extra, he just made some recommendations and explained everything thoroughly as to why it was necessary and a good idea to do while it's already apart. I will be taking my vehicles here for everything from now on and recommend them to everyone.

I went in to speak my concern with brake work that had been done and what I was charged for. They took pictures and stated that I would hear from someone on Monday (this was early Friday). I took my 3500 truck in to have a vibration looked at. Told them to inspect the suspension and brakes. They called and told me the front rotors were warped and the rears were glazed. They recommended to replace front and rear pads/rotors. I asked if the calipers were fine, Alexis stated they were fine. This is the first time I spoke with her, I started with Philip the manager. I agreed to have them do the front and rear pads/rotors. First thing the next morning I get another call from Alexis stating that all 4 calipers need to be replaced. I asked what changed since the inspection the previous day where I was told they were fine. She stated that they were all seized. They stated an additional almost $1800 for the calipers only. I declined and stated to just put it back together and I will pick it up early afternoon. Shortly after hanging up I received another call back from Alexis. She stated she was still going to have to charge me for the front and rear pads/rotors since I authorized this the previous day and that the work had already been performed. I acknowledged and was ok with this since I did approve the work. I arrived at the shop at 1:05, early afternoon like I stated. My truck is on the lift with rear and front tires off. I go in to ask for my truck, she stated that I said early afternoon for pick up. 1:05 is early afternoon to me. I asked why there is still old rotors on the back when I was told on the phone that the front and rear pad/rotors were already replaced. Alexis told me that they took the new stuff back off and put the old back on. I inquired about the logic behind this. The manager, Philip stepped over. I said to put it back together and I will pay for the work that had been done. I ended up paying for front pads/rotors. She stated they were having a hard time getting the calipers back on the front since there is new pads. I went to Art's auto and picked up all four calipers to change them out the next morning. When I took the front calipers off, I was shocked to see the lack of work performed. On the invoice I was charged 269.98 for pads/rotors which "includes cleaning and lubrication of brake components." They put brand new pads on, did not replace the shims with the new ones, nor did they clean or lubricant the old existing. They did not clean the slide pins at all. I went in and spoke to Alexis about this. Philip was off that day. I brought the old calipers in to show this lack of work that I was charged for. When I came in, I was polite, asked to speak about my bill and a concern I have to work that was done. I asked to speak in private so the waiting room people would not hear about the kind of work that was done. I was told that I would hear back from either Philip or his boss Dan. I did not hear back from either about my concerns of doing honest, good faith work. I 100% will not trust this place to do work again, nor would I recommend anyone else use them unless it's just putting tires on. I attempted to allow them to make it right and hear my concerns, which they chose not to do either. Disappointed to say the least. I wish this would let me post the pictures of how nasty the shims and slide pins were.

When they called they said both front and rear needed replacement, which I suspected, but I told them I only wanted the front done because I couldn't afford both and the front are more important. I picked up the car after the shop was closed and discovered they had completely disregarded what I had asked them to do and replaced the rear brakes. I called to complain and the manager told me they did what they thought was more important and what I asked for didn't matter. Never again.
