They didn't have the parts, said they would call when parts are in.Two weeks later I called and the parts were in (thanks for the call), I made a fourth stop/appointment. They put some new parts on the bottom but never addressed all the damage and noise. They never finished the work. All of which is described in the report and paid for by me and my, Insurance company. They then said "it's probably a tie rod and they'll have to take it somewhere else to determine if the damage and noise was due to the accident".... Yes, it was, on the report and PAID to Sonny's to fix! I have used Sonny's for 30+ years, the latest ownership ain't no Sonny. The travel and time spent so far on this PAID for job is now more than I've spent on the deductable. I do not recommend, nor trust this shop. I will repair it out of my own pocket rather than get them a opportunity to not fix the agreed upon paid for work. As of now five 72 mile trips to have my car not fixed. It's always scary to walk blindly into a shop to get some work done, especially with my limited…read moreunderstanding of how cars work, and that's what I did here. The price for labor at Keystone is reasonable, especially compared with other shops in the Traverse City area. I was given an estimate for the repairs which they suspected I needed, but once they popped the hood, they found it wasn't quite as serious than they initially expected. Rather than make those repairs anyway, and charge me an extra hour of labor plus parts (which I've experienced before from a more dishonest, mainstream auto repair shop), they reduced the price from my estimate and made the correct repairs. Not only that, but they knew my situation was difficult, and that I needed to travel several hours by car that same evening, so they began the repairs immediately in order to get me on the road before the shop closed rather than the next morning. All around a good experience and an honest mechanic, and I will return the next time my vehicle inevitably needs work.

We took our vehicle to the nearest auto repair and they confirmed it was an issue with the alternator and at the current rate, we wouldn't make it back home without repairing it. Although helpful, they unfortunately could not service our vehicle due to being short staffed. Knowing this was an alternator issue we called several other auto repair businesses (including a Honda dealership) and no one had any availability until the following week; it was currently Wednesday. Losing hope and already thinking of alternative ways to get home we called Traverse City Public Service Garage (TCPSG) and they luckily had someone available to re-diagnose and potentially service our vehicle (it was about 1pm at this time). Upon arrival they were able to verify the issue, order the faulty part from one of their local suppliers, have it delivered, and installed it in about 4 hours or so. While there was an element of luck that came into play (available mechanic, supplier with the part, time of day, etc.), the service we received was both friendly and fair all things considered. The good folks at TCPSG got our vehicle back up and running and we ultimately got back home later that evening safely and in one piece. From me and my family, thank you Traverse City Public Service Garage for your hospitality and quality service.

The first person who looked at it thought the AC compressor needed to be replaced to be safe to drive but they had a second person look at it and he was able to offer a quick fix to get us up and going. We were ready to leave it and have it fixed when their AC person was available but they were honest and gave us a better option even though it cost them business. We cannot thank them enough for helping us in a pretty desperate situation.

I picked up the car after the shop was closed and discovered they had completely disregarded what I had asked them to do and replaced the rear brakes. I called to complain and the manager told me they did what they thought was more important and what I asked for didn't matter. Never again.

If you've never experienced out-of-warranty service before, it is far different than 'dealer service.' So many weird little (and big) things crop up that rarely do within the first 3-years of a cars life. The typical dealership will replace every part they can -- at full list price. Lakeside actually provides sound advice as to what 'must' be replaced versus what can wait a bit longer. They also have far better rates than any other shop or dealership I've found. They've never given me bad advice and have always done great work. I rarely post reviews because most businesses are mediocre. Lakeside is truly among the best. If you really like your car, there is no better place in the area to get it serviced.

D&W used to service transmissions for a small mechanic shop I worked at in Leelanau county, so I've seen them do over 40 transmissions in my short time as a mechanic. We never had a problem with any of their work! Not a single tranny, and I'd be willing to bet that's the norm for Wayne and the D&W crew. So now, when the trans in my plow truck finally had had enough, I confidently took it to D&W. Wayne took me for a diagnostic cruise in my truck so he could explain what was happening and what would have to be done for repairs. It's great that he took the time to help me understand how and why! I do most repairs on my vehicles, but transmissions are over my head, can't thank you enough D&W!!
