The walls are bright, the staff is friendly, and the food is really good. It is a great way to start an excursion through Tremont. As the old diner saying goes, "Life is too short for bad coffee and boring breakfast." Why start your time in Tremont that way!

We were visiting from out of town and read great things about this restaurant. We had eight people…read moreand were told it would be a 45-minute wait. We were totally fine with that, went and grabbed a coffee from a local shop, and then returned to the restaurant. Food was great and the server was so kind! The reason for the 3-star review is because the hostess was very rude. She completely shattered an easy 5-star review. We had nine people in the family, and one was golfing. We intended to put in a takeout order for him but due to the 45-minute wait, he ended up finishing before we were even seated. We invited him to come along and then we were called to be sat. We ordered his meal for him prior to him arriving and this was still a major problem for the hostess. She basically threatened to move us back outside and told us we were "holding the table" even though we would have never done that. Instead of giving me the opportunity to explain to her we would have done takeout anyways had he not arrived(but he did because again, it was a 45 minute wait), she just continued to talk over me. It made all of us very uncomfortable and the first 10 minutes we felt very on edge and unwelcomed. She then did the same thing to our ninth person when they walked in the restaurant 5 minutes after. He had no idea what had already occurred and was also caught off guard. Most of us worked in this industry in the past, and we thought we were doing the right thing by letting her know. Thank you to everyone else who helped soften our experience. It was very appreciated. Every person who brought a dish to our table was extremely kind. We all had something different on the menu and there were no complaints!

John & Loreta Family Restaurant is a diner tucked away in a plaza in Parma. If you're a breakfast…read morelover, this diner might be a good fit. They offer breakfast all day. It was the first search that popped up as I was searching for family style meal nearby. And so, I checked out this diner for breakfast. AMBIENCE: Mom and pop diner frozen in time. Think simple decor, worn booths, few dated tables, and mismatched art. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. Most guests were local couples. This is a no-frills food-focused experience. FOOD/DRINKS: Orders and payment are accepted at the counter. Your food order is delivered to your table. You will be provided with a tray so that you can later return your plates and cutlery on this tray. The restaurant most offers self-service. The menu is displayed overhead at the counter. The menu is simple, featuring breakfast specials, lunch specials, omelets, and breakfast sandwiches. This diner is very value oriented. You can order a meal for one for around $10, which is now a rarity. I ordered Gyro Cheese Omelet ($9.99), John's Favorite Salad ($6.99), and hot tea ($1.99). Omelet was served with home fries and a piece of toast. Gyro meat is not frozen, there is gyro spit located right behind the counter. The omelet was alright, but not notable. Omelet ingredients were scarce - meat and cheese. John' Favorite Salad seems like a Greek salad - tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, olives, olive oil, and feta. The dish seems not cohesive. It's just very light and lacking flavor. Hot tea was a mug with non-branded tea bag. Black tea only. To me the food was subpar. It wasn't really restaurant quality. It's something you'd expect to eat at someone's home, which might be its own charm. SERVICE: The service is indifferent unless you're a regular. It was heartwarming to see the staff call their regulars by their names. The service is so focused on regulars that at some point the regular cut me off in line. The guest just walked up and stood in front of me in line. I was genuinely amused by this development. I didn't have urgent plans so it wasn't a big deal. The waitress mentioned that he was just picking up an order and I'll be next. All in all, I didn't feel welcome as a new guest. PARKING: There is a large shared plaza parking lot for your convenience. In winter months the parking lot is not well salted, might be icy. This diner is a worthy destination if you're looking for a quick breakfast. It wasn't the best diner food I've tasted, it was just okay. I didn't particularly enjoy any part of my experience. If you're looking for cheap food and low key spot, stop in.

At least new to me. As mentioned I haven't been here in a while. Wait to be seated when we came in. It took a few minutes but a table was cleaned for us and we sat. Nice crowd for a Thursday afternoon. Hostess is also the cashier. She gave us menus. Then we waited about 15 mins till a server came with silverware. She took our order. A chicken salad sandwich and the special chicken paprikash. I wanted to try it. Then we waited some more. At least 20 mins to get our drinks. Water with lemon. Then another 30 mins for food. It was hot when we got it. So it was fresh. Just took forever. I also got a cup of soup with my paprikash so I chose the mushroom barley. It was very thick, almost stew like. Lots of barley but not too many mushrooms. It was ok. Wouldn't get it again. The paprikash was ok. It's a ok portion. Not heaping. Ok though. It tasted ok too. Not too much distinct flavor. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again. Mom's chicken salad on wheat was just ok too. For the more than hour we waited to get our food, this was not a great experience. When we went to pay the hostess cashier was MIA and we waited. We were going to pay via cc but decided we did not want to wait any longer and just gave cash. I couldn't even flag someone down to tell them I left the bill by the register. No one there. Not sure if help was the issue. Probably was. Too many customers and not enough wait staff. Or just on their own time. Server seemed surprised we wanted to go boxes and our bill. But I got to get back to work and at this rate I was out of the office more than 1 hr 45 mins. Family place. Long time establishment. Good prices for a family. I don't want to knock. But this was a bit too far for me. I can't wait for my lunch for more than an hour. It may be awhile before I try again.
