Garibaldi's Italian Eatery has been in Arlington Heights for as long as I can remember. On the night that my husband and I went Garibaldi's was having a dine and share for the John Hersey High School girl's water polo team. They do this a lot supporting local causes. We ordered two slices of pizza, a brownie, and a drink. The pizza was a typical giant New York style with a lot of grease that was hard to eat without plasticware. The brownie was packaged and wasn't very good. I'll give them high marks for supporting the community but not for the food.

Classic NY slice - New Yorker approved

As cute as advertised. Games for kids to play. Pretty fish tank. Most importantly NYer approved NY Slice. I was sleeping on this place, finally came in and am very happy I did! Will be back. Few places around here make good NY style pizza so if that is what you are looking for they have it. 1950's ambiance. Friendly staff.

Garibaldi's is one of those classic neighborhood spots that reminds you why some places don't need trends to stay relevant. They've been serving Chicago since 1976, and it shows in the consistency. The menu is huge, but everything feels intentional, from the scratch-made New York style pizza (available by the slice or whole pie) to the comforting Italian classics like lasagna, chicken parmigiana, and baked mostaccioli, all served with garlic bread. The subs & sandwiches deserve their own highlight. Whether it's Italian beef, Philly cheesesteak, or their highly rated roast beef, they're stacked, filling, and actually seasoned. I also loved that this is a true family friendly, fast casual spot. You can grab appetizers like mozzarella sticks or cheese fries, burgers, foot-long hot dogs, and still end on a sweet note with homemade tiramisu or frozen lemonade. Overall, Garibaldi's feels like a reliable go-to....the kind of place you grew up eating at and still crave years later. Would absolutely return.

Great slice of sausage pizza and frozen lemonade, the atmosphere is really nice, a throw back to the rock and roll times. The service was excellent, the place is clean and really nice.

    Love the retro vibe!

I really liked the retro vibe. I remember Garibaldi's from hot lunch when I was a child. I think now it is down to two locations. Service was helpful and fast. My son got a slice of pepperoni pizza and they thoughtfully cut it in half so he could eat it easier. Hubby had a hamburger. He pronounced it satisfactory. I got a jr steak and cheese and it was gigantic. The bread was exceptional and I wished I just had more bread! Overall I'd rate this place 3.5 stars. It's safe and moderately priced. Menu is actually fairly extensive. It is a safe bet.

Listen, listen, listen, Linda, the onion rings; Do Not Change Them!!! Don't you dare switch to those battered, frozen, chain-restaurant rings of bull-s. These are the good rings. Now, the wangzzzz. I'm not going to pretend these are the absolute best wings in the entire city, but they are absolutely in the "I will randomly crave these on a Tuesday" category. The meat could use a little marinade situation to bring more flavor inside, but that crispy coating holds up to the sauce like a champ. I like it, I like it, I like it. Extra points for a buffalo sauce that actually has some thickness to it and isn't just "here's some hot sauce, on a wing being called buffalo sauce. Now, I am going to need to try some of the other wing sauces, but if they hold up too. I would rather come here than go to some other well known wing spots. Honestly, I can see myself rolling through just for wings, rings, and vibes. And that Golden Monkey beer? Yeah, go ahead and keep that on tap forever. Please and thank you. haha

We talked to the person there and found it was run by his family, and they do an exceptional job. My wife had the Liberty Cheesesteak with added onions while I had a combo Italian Beef/Italian Sausage sandwich - dipped with added onion, hot pepper and cheese. We also had a side of fries. Both sandwiches were big, which you would expect. The Philly had finely chopped steak with the peppers, onions and cheese all mixed in. My wife said it was fantastic. My combo was incredible. The beef was seasoned perfectly and was clearly not sitting all day in the au-jus (which when talking to the owner afterwards he confirmed was the case). You can always tell this because the meat had a nice texture and was not overly salty, but instead as I stated seasoned and cooked perfectly. Additionally, the fries were well cooked, crisp and hot. They take care to keep the oil fresh and clean, so the fries taste like fries instead of old dirty oil. As an added bonus he even treated my pup to a small dish of ice cream which she enjoyed on a hot day. Fortunately, we showed up a little after the lunch rush and was able to spend a few minutes talking about the business and baseball and our combined hate of the dreaded Dodgers. Even if I don't go back there tomorrow, it's definitely a must stop next time through the area.

We were already in the area to check out Frank Lloyd Wright's studio and then came here for lunch afterwards. We were lucky that it was a Monday at lunch time and not a more traditional peak time to be there because we got a parking space fairly quickly and even though we saw the line out the door, it moved very fast. It's very much a cash-only and no-frills type of place. Don't come here expecting them to be super friendly to you. You go up there knowing what you want to order and they are quick and on it. When you're paying, they're already getting the other customer's (behind you) order. We went for an Italian beef sandwich to split as well as a side of fries and an Italian ice. Choosing an "off" night (example: a weeknight) or during a less-than-ideal time (example: during a snowstorm) will give you the quickest experience for Johnnie's as the line can get LONG and parking is terrible (tiny lot). Note: this was my second visit as my first attempt, on Father's Day 2025, was a magnificent bust. We had no line and plenty of seating this time! They have a big menu, but save the cute stuff for a follow-up visit and get a beef (& hot dog is really hungry). Do yourself a favor and get an Italian Ice too, time of year is irrelevant. You can thank me after your tastebuds recover from being overwhelmed. Is the food THAT much better than other spots, you ask? Not handedly, no. But the whole experience, especially if you wait in line (in the sun as there is zero shade), is what makes this place great. It really is a delightful Chicago experience. Put Johnnie's at the top of your list this summer, plan accordingly, and ENJOY!
