I got the worst French manicure of my life here. They're thick, sloppy, and weirdly shaped. On top of that, the woman checking out said "do you have cash to tip? You need cash to tip" which ... asking for a tip is generally very rude. Of course I was going to tip despite the nails being terrible (idk probably shouldn't have) but acting entitled to a tip after terrible work is not professional. Won't be returning. read more

She was definitely an expert and didn't cut too deep into the cuticles like I've had happen before. The whole process was fast when it needed to be but didn't feel rushed. I really like this nail salon! The ladies are always very sweet and ask while doing my nails to make sure I like how they are looking, and they've happily changed the color or redone nails for me when I've asked before. For manicures they use the warm towel and lotion at the end, which I also like. The ambiance of the salon is nice too as there are always cute music videos playing and they offer you free drinks, so you can tell they're doing their best to make it a good experience. They also always fit me in when I "walk in," for a manicure or pedicure which is nice too. Also, as an FYI -- they have their own atm inside if you want to give a cash tip. Honestly, I would say the manicure quality is probably really 4/5 stars, but overall I really like this nail salon for all the reasons listed above, and I always have a good experience there, so in total so I'm giving it 5/5 stars! Attached are pictures of the nails I most recently got here for the holidays -- a full set almond shape acrylic gel manicure with red glitter french tip. You can see that a few flakes of the red glitter got left in the nude part of the nail, but I know glitter always gets everywhere and is hard to control & I don't think anyone else would notice that small imperfection so overall I think they look super cute for Christmas! read more

Sandy is gone.. the girls spend time chatting on their phones, not making eye contact and developing relationships with their patrons..I also don't think religion should be brought into the work place.. there is an alter set up with food offerings that the workers frequently kneel in front of.. if they'd pay attention to the patrons they wouldn't need to pray for business.. The only thing holding back this salon is their online reservation system that isn't really ready for action. You'll waste time waiting for an appt. confirmation that doesn't ever come. You'll end up calling them anyhow so, just start there. The salon is very clean with a calm, relaxing atmosphere. I'm very pleased with the level of service and attention I received. I had the Deluxe manicure w/ Mindy and the Classic pedicure with Kim, plus (for an extra $5) for callas removal, which was worth the extra money with Kim. We came to San Diego for a weekend trip and I needed to get a pedicure. I called Garnet Nails and was able to be immediately seen which was a plus because my husband and kids had to wait on me. Been coming here for a few months now and the quality has gradually declined. I only come here for pedicures since my OG nail lady doesn't do pedicures at her new studio and this place has been a flop during my last visit. It took 2 hours.....yes 2 hours, for the most basic "classic pedicure". I always do gel and left with streaky polish, and he just didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. Barely cut my nails and had to ask multiple times for them to be shorter, and left with one big toe having a jagged end on one side from it being cut so strangely. Left this polish on my skin on the side of my toes and honestly just not looking good at all. For $50 and 2 hours of my time....time to find a new pedicure spot. read more

This salon has been racing to the bottom for about three years. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt after the shutdowns, etc....However, the last three times I have gone in for a quick mani/pedi, the service has been mediocre at best. I tip well but I am not putting gel and/or acrylic on my nails anymore. That seems to be how they rank you; maybe I would if their manicurists took their craft seriously, but you know the minute you enter it's nothing more than an assembly line and they don't care. At all. There is a much older woman calling the shots and she is horrid. They had another woman who is middle aged, she's very good, but you can tell she's in the wrong place. The ambiance is 7/11. The minute you hit the door, you want out fast as is possible. Perhaps, that's their plan. Here's the gist... The manicurist with the rotting teeth used a drimmel on my healthy nailbeds, and as predicted, it will take a good while for them to heal. I have no idea why she did this, as this was only a straight up manicure. I hope this place implodes. They deserve it. read more

Not anymore. The last one who cared was Sandy. She is gone. New girls don't care. They look at their phones. Talk to each other and probably crap about people who came in. It used to be a place to go to get nails done and feel better. Now it's just business. New girls don't care about relationships. Just money. When u tell them how u want nails doke bale sure that's how someone else did it for years they give u a stink eye and mess up the nails. read more

Unfortunately there are new owners (this was previously Christine's Nails in PB). The four new owners do not possess any people skills appropriate or deserving for Christine's longtime customers. We have been loyal because of the care, kindness and easy welcoming atmosphere. I have been witness to the new owners behaving inconsiderately and rude and they have now condoned one of their fellow owners to berate an employee who was there for 25 years. As a result of that unprofessional and demeaning outburst, that employee chose to leave and is no longer there. It is so disappointing that these new owners have come into our community and do not show respect to the business that was well established by the previous owner, employees and loyal customers. read more
