Went for Easter brunch. Food was amazing. We had oysters roc'fella, oxtail, breakfast sandwich and fried salmon. I ate here with a friend when we randomly observed another new restaurant had opened at this location. The initial entrance was pretty chaotic as the place was jam packed and it took us quite awhile to get seated. We were told it was brunch time so we would need to order off the brunch menu which we did but then we were told it had already transitioned to the dinner menu so we had to order again. We were waiting a really long time for our food but they did bring us a free serving of their Raq"a Fella Lotus Pearl Bread which was delicious. My dining companion had a fantastic serving of Crimson Chicken. I got the Royal Roots Platter which the menu said was oxtails, jasmine rice, yams and mac & cheese but I didn't get yams very sadly. I also discovered my oxtails were really tough and needed to have been cooked for quite awhile longer so I ended up not even eating them. My dining companion got around a 4 star experience while mine was only around a 2 star as my entree was just not so good sadly. They only have a QR code menu which was a little harder to use and then their payment system also seemed a bit wonky. You can't deny that this place is beautiful but the food was great as well. We visited for Mother's Day through reservations and were sat right away. It didn't take too long for our food to arrive and my party enjoyed what they ordered. The noise level was a little loud between the music and voices traveling with this being a renovated shotgun house but I was still able to enjoy the conversation with my table. read more

The esthetics were nice! If you're a picture girlie, you'll love it. Very friendly atmosphere. I went here for my birthday weekend for brunch with friends. The food was delicious all around. My group had oxtails and grits, fish and gritouffe, and chicken with eggs and biscuits. Everyone loved their food. Big Baby, the bartender was such a sweetheart! Awesome personality and service! The only things I would say could improve is to have real glasses and silverware. There were also bugs like flies and gnats flying around inside. This restaurant is cute and very bright and colorful! As soon as you walk in, the music and the vibes hit you. My group of 4 came for an Easter brunch. We had a reservation but it didn't seem necessary because it was a quiet afternoon. There was a slight wait for our menus and waters which was surprising as we were the only table. Nonetheless, our server Brenda was friendly and helpful. She took our order and explained the details of the process to us. There's a 20% service fee and some other details I don't remember. I ordered the catfish and grits etouffe. My niece ordered the oxtail and grits and my cousin had the burger. Everything was tasty and well seasoned. The portions were sizeable, so we had leftovers. Let's get into the decor first. It's vibes and instagramable areas all around! You could literally have a photo shoot around the restaurant. It's curated beautifully. The service was awesome. Our waitress was attentive and by the end of our lunch it felt like we'd become friends. She more than earned the automatic 20% gratuity. The food was great. We started off strong with great appetizers. We tried the queso dip and the seafood dip and they also had an off menu special with these buffalo wontons that hit the spot as well. Came in from Cali and I loved Pink Lotus. The fried okra with rosemary was a first time for me and they were fried perfectly. The really short waitress with braces was my favorite. She was funny and made the experience even better. We were lucky enough to be able to snag a photo with the chef as well. She was so nice. Lastly, so glad that they had prosecco. i just left from here and i went in with high expectations, but i was let down terribly. the restaurant itself is very beautiful and nicely decorated so that's a plus! but everything else wasn't the best. first, we get seated and i can't barely hear my server because we are sitting right infront of a speaker that seems to be at max volume. me and my family eventually got super overstimulated by this and i even got a headache. second, we did get there after 1:30pm so we missed brunch. but i asked my server if they had regular grits because the only option i saw on the menu was gouda, to which he said no. which is not his fault, but it would be nice to have a regular pot of grits because not everyone can consume cheese and menu items are already limited. third, once we found out only the dinner menu was available i asked about substituting the mac and cheese because i don't eat cheese and the answer was no. it would be nice to be able to substitute my side because there is a menu item that i don't eat. fourth, my sister ordered the bang bang or boom boom chicken and she did not like it. she tasted a piece and immediately asked could she exchange it or return it. the place looked exactly how it looked when they served it to us minutes one piece of chicken being bitting off of. it's unfair to paint for food you don't like and that you didn't eat. fifth, i do not mind auto grat at all, but it is predatory when it is included and then the prompt asks you to tip more. typically after an auto grat tip the range is 5%-15% extra. but here it was 15-25%. which is insane especially bc my service was not the best. and THEN i read my receipt and it said auto grat is automatically applied for parties of 0 or more... 0 or more.. when auto grat is typically applied for larger parties in conclusion, the food wasn't great for the price point, the service wasn't the best, the ambiance was overstimulating, and the way the business is ran is a bit predatory. i won't be returning, but i hope you can take this review and possibly learn something read more

We tried the spinach dip, lotus dip (seafood), Raq'a Fella Lotus Pearl Bread, fried okra and the buffalo chicken wontons. Everything was good but the dips were my favorite appetizers. It's caribbean/ creole fusion. The staff was great. The food was really and the drinks were delicious. Decor is really cute. First let me start with we had reservations and they required everyone to be there to be seated. I have no problem with that. But in the mean time we're waiting an hour and a half because the party before us had not left yet. The restaurant clearly over booked. It was hot in the restaurant, there wasn't a lot of waiting area either. So with that long of a wait of course you will order drinks. They are at least $15. The problem is the restaurant charges 20% on EVERYTHING. Not just your dine in. They charge you drinks at the bar 20%, if you are two people 20%, anything. So not only did we have to wait an hour and a half, I'm getting ripped off at the bar having to tip $3 for a $15 drink. When we finally get seated the area is cramped. The cover for the table is a plastic pink tablecloth from Walmart. And the heat was horrible, they had to have a huge fan in the back room. We were sitting there over 30 minutes and still hadn't gotten any drink or food orders in. Only to be told at that time that you can only split the check into two. We had a party over 10 or 15. Our server seemed willing to try accommodating us though. But here it is, an hour and a half after our reservation, no food and no drinks. At this point I'm done. I left and so did two of my friends. The aesthetic of the restaurant is nice, and our servers at the bar were nice too. I'd also like to add, they made it plain as day, if you ordered a drink or food you didn't like, they would make no changes. Also, the menu is minimal and way overpriced.
