Great place! We went there on a recommendation and couldn't have been happier. Atmosphere was relaxing and light, staff extremely friendly and the food was delicious. Our waitress recommended their signature burger, the Garrison's, and I have to say...you'll wish you had another one once it's done! Their prime rib was on point and their dessert definitely hit the spot. We'll definitely have to go there again and I will be more than happy to recommend this place to anyone! read more

Horrible dining experience and deceptive menu pricing. Stopped for early evening dinner, Monday, July 3, 2017. It was not busy. Our server told us she was new. It slowly became obvious she had no training or supervision. Ordered a rare prime rib, my husband ordered baked scallops. She told us entrees came with a choice of potato. Just one side dish? Yes. Had to flag server down looking for our drink order. Told us there was just one bartender on. When we were brought our drinks, the server mentioned our meals came with soup. Did we want soup? Dinner arrived except it was baked stuffed shrimp instead of baked scallops. I sat staring at the prime rib while she took away the shrimp to get scallops.Scallops arrived with french fries. The server said "oh, you wanted sweet potato fries with that. I'll get you some." Those fries arrived just as my husband finished his scallops.My prime rib was not rare. It was dry. At this point we just wanted the check and to leave. I looked at the check and saw we were overcharged. I pointed out to the server with the beverage menu on the table the CK Mondavi wine, top on the list under red wine was $7.00. She pointed down 4 or 5 wines to the Robert Mondavi wine for $10.00 and that is what I got. Okay. I pointed out that the English cut prime rib was $19.99 on the menu not $21.99. She replied that the price of meat went up a couple of days ago. Really? What about the $20.99 scallops that we were billed $23.99. That was because the sweet potato fries were extra. My husband put the check on the table with cash showing, we waited but were ignored. On the way out I saw the server near the front counter. Told her we should speak to the manager because we should not be charged a different price than what is on the menu. She said "I've already spoken to the manager about that." Well, what did he say? She just stared at me. Evidently, the manager didn't care. We won't be back. read more

Garrisons. Good ole Garrisons. It's not a horrible place. The food isn't the best but I've hard worse. The staff is very friendly, the main dining rooming is clean, however the men's room is nasty. Tiles missing off the walls and weird stains on the floor. Even when it's dead it seems to take too long to get the food, but that's okay. I still come here once a week. There isn't really anything better in Billerica then this place. The 99 makes me piss out of my ass, so I'd rather come here. read more

I've only been here once and I'm not sure if I'll be back. We went at night and there was great live music. We sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. The bartender was unfriendly and very rude. Not only was she unprofessional, but she was dirty. I asked her to refresh my drink and she put her dirty hands over the top of the glass and strained the drink into a new glass! When I told her that was gross and I wanted a new one, she gave me an attitude and then didn't talk to use the rest of the night. She came over and put the bill down in front of us without asking if we wanted anything else. I think I would have liked this place if I had a different bartender. Service here is terrible and the food could be better. My husband like to go here for the atmosphere and enjoy having a few drinks and playing keno.If you sit at the bar and you are not a regular, you will be thirsty for some time.The bartenders spend more time socializing with their regulars than they do serving the customers. If you sit at a table in the lounge it takes forever for a waitress to come over and take your order. One time I ordered a salad and there was a long piece of hair in it. It took so long to find our waitress to send it back. By the time a got a new one my husband had already finished his meal. I wasn't offered anything, not even a drink. That's not good service. The food is a hit or miss. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's real bad. The prices are to high for what your getting. I think it's time for a menu change with more healthy options. read more

Have been coming to Garrison's for a few years. Sometimes with the kids and grandparents, girls night out or date night. The food is always very good, drinks are decent, the wait staff has always been prompt and attentive. Sometimes the bar staff can be a little snotty. If you aren't a regular, you usually have to wait a little longer. There's Keno, all the good sports games on and live entertainment. Bar can get loud but it's a bar area. Separate dining area for a quieter atmosphere. Highly recommend for casual dining. read more

Looking for a great mouth watering steak or Prime Rib both overlap there large size oval platters. This is this place. I have had true steer in Texas the king of Longhorn Beef and this place is right up there with a real diners choice of lucious foods and the prices very reasonable. The atmoshere is grand with it's historic dining area that you have to ask to eat within based on it's original late 1600's build. read more

Went back for the first time since the remodel tonight. What I had: - Clam chowder - Nachos - Chicken Verdiccio - A mixed drink that contained Peach Siroc, OJ and cranberry juice. Chowder: Should have been called soup. So thin! Also, I have a sneaking suspicion it was from a can!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nachos: Used to be my favorite app. Chips were stale tonight. Lots of veggies on top, but to the point I couldn't even get to the chips. Chicken Verdiccio: I AM SO DISAPPOINTED! I got this meal each and every time that I went to Garrisons prior to the re-do. It was AWFUL tonight. No flavor. Pasta was plastic-like. The drink: Um. I think you forgot the booze. My husband had french onion soup and veal parm. To sum it up - flavorless. Decided to try this place a couple times after my wifes parents told us about it. (they were born and raised in billerica. the first time we sat at the bar the blonde skinny bartender was watching the redsox game with everyone who was sitting at the bar. first of all this place has only TWO beers on draft ........... and onlybudlight and bud heavy in bottles ......... not much if a variety to say the least. second, the bar tender starts SCREAMING and swearing at the tv. could not it believe it. the other customers seemed to not notice somehow. maybe they are just used to it being townies. third of all the bartender was clearly SHITFACED stumbling mumbling screaming swaring and literally drinking a huge glass of a mixed drink with her customers who were egging her on. i thought i was on that show "what would you do" never thinking id be back, my wifes parents asked us to go months later and we were starving so went with them again. the waiters and hosts were all chatting upfront hanging on the host stand. we were at the bar for 20 minutes and some guy stRts screaming at thr lonely old man next to us who hadnt made a peep mind you, calling him "so rude" and embarrassing him infront of everyone (something about keno) and the bartender didnt resolve it. Btw the ceiling was also leaking all i have to say is wtf . if you want to feel like your back at the frat house with bad food bad drinks fighting ect this is the place for you read more

Yesterday was the first day I have ever been there. What impressed me the most at the beginning was the huge handicap ramp they had. I was able to ride my hoveround right up to the front door where somebody was waiting to open the door for me. I ordered the 16 ounce prime rib, it was cooked right but it was very chewy and not the least bit tender. I had the waitress bring me another knife. But I was unable to eat it. The baked potato tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. The service however was excellent, she packaged up my lunch so i could take it with me. I did not mention the problems i had with the Prime Rib. I will probably go back there again but i will never get the prime rib again. read more

I would highly recommend Grassfields or Jimmy Steer House. I had haddock and my husband had prime rib with haddock. Our daughter ordered chicken broccoli pasta which no one liked. The only thing that was good was prime rib and the fries. Not a lot of flavor in all the plates. Don't get haddock here, I got sick a half hour after leaving. I used to go here every friday with my father to catch up during the week. It's a great social area and has an amazing bar staff who remember you and make conversation. They keep up on your drinks and always answer with a smile. My father passed two months ago, and my first time back was last week. It was horrible. Nothing wrong with the food, everything wrong with the help. The blonde host, who by the way didn't look up from her phone under the desk until I spoke to her for the third time, had the worst attitude I've ever seen in a restaurant. She was rude, threw the menus on the table, didn't even say anything except "Dining room or lounge?". She was the worst hostess I've ever experienced before. To make it worse, she looked stoned out of her mind. Her hair was a mess, there were red marks all over her neck from the choker she was wearing and her eyes were bloodshot. Then, our waitress didn't come to us until 15 whole minutes later, smelling like stale smoke. Clearly her smoke break was more important that her customers. I'm beyond upset with my visit and will not be returning. read more

I would give our server and the hostess five stars. Server was attentive, quick, and friendly. The french fries were delicious. Steak tips were flavorless and tough. Pastrami sandwich was good. Over the course of a few years and various tries, I feel comfortable recommending Garrison's. I always get a seafood dish for starters, stuffed mushrooms, a small salad and a dessert. HUGE IMPROVEMENT: the first time I went to Garrison's I can say it was pretty terrible. However, I gave them a second chance after 2 years and WOW....much better!! I had the Grilled Bacon Turkey Sandwich and it was perfection. Revisited another time with my boyfriend and he had the Steak Tips and I had the Bayou Burger and we both were raving about how good it was. If you had a bad experience with this restaurant in the past, I recommend trying it again -- don't know what changes but something did!! read more

The service here was worth a one star. The server messed up my tables order so we were not able to have appetizers. They also didn't follow the proper way to serve. They messed up my order for roast beef because they never asked what type of vegetables I would like if any. So I got zucchini and ended up throwing it away. Went last night for a family dinner. My daughter ordered the beacon cheeseburger, the bun was burnt. My son had the chicken parm which was pretty good. I had the haddock and scallop dinner, the baked potato was not cooked all the way through and was most definitely microwaved. My fish was pretty good. My husband ordered steak tips, cooked medium. The tips were well done and very dry. Looked like they had been cooked and recooked. Gross. His baked potato was not cooked either. Our waiter was great and very attentive. We typically enjoy eating at Garrison's but last night we were charged $7 each for our $3 side salads. When we pointed this out to our waitress, she said that because our meals were sandwiches ($10 and $14) we were not allowed to order side salads. (That would have been nice to know when we ordered side salads with our meals) The manager on duty said that it was our fault and their was nothing she could do. In all honesty, I only went to this place because I mistook it for another restaurant of a similar name (Grassfields). It wasn't until I signed on to write this review that I realized I was at a completely different and unaffiliated restaurant hahaha By the way Grassfields is a sister restaurant to Jimmy's Steer House and if you want to try THE best prime rib, stuffed shrimp, and mouth watering rice pilaf, GO THERE! Don't go here. I went here for lunch because I was craving the aforementioned. The prime rib was ok. It needed more seasoning to be honest. The stuffed shrimp was sad and the rice pilaf was bland and boring and rivaled Uncle Ben's boxed rice. The worse part of my lunch was that they charged me full dinner price so my meal including tip was $35. The exact meal at Jimmy's Steer House would have cost me 25 bucks and it wouldn't tasted a million times better. The only positive thing I have to say about this experience was that my waitress/bartender was super nice and the food came out really fast. read more

My wife and I refuse to go back again. We decided to try it out after the renovations- nicely done, but now work on renovating your staff. It wasnt busy so we were seated right away, but never received utensils. I guess thats partially our fault, but you dont really go looking for them until your food comes- or at least we don't. We ordered an appetizer and dinner for myself, my wife and son. The appetizer came out, literally, 1 minute before our meal did. It didnt even have time to cool down before our dinners were being placed on the table. No issues with my simple club sandwich, but my wife requested sweet potatoe fries, and ended up with regular fries. My son ordered a cheese burger that might as well have been handed to him without being placed on the grill- not to mention a kids cheese burger is $8. Our server would disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time, and the place had hardly any customers in there. Only when we were done eating did she ask whether or not my wife received the sweet potatoe fries she asked for. It was also trivia night over in the bar. Questions like 'Who is the most decorated man in the olympic games with a total of 28 medals, 18 of them being gold?'.. If you don't know the answer is Michael Phelps, then you're probably dumb enough to work here... read more

Tonight I went to Garrison's, and the experience was very nice. I had "The Garrison" burger, which was by far one of the most extravagant meals i have ever eaten. All the food was cooked to perfection. The live music, performed by "Run Jonnie Run", was the epitome of classic rock bliss, and nonetheless an amazing addition to my meal. I have been to Garrisons about three times prior to last night's visit and at each visit, I had a great experience. So last night, when I was in the area, I took my youngest son there for a quick dinner and once again I left full and very happy. Our waitress was great. She was attentive, but also gave us our space to enjoy our supper. If we needed anything, she was there for us. The meals were excellent. My prime rib was cooked perfectly as were my son's steak tips. At the suggestion of our waitress, my son got the loaded potato with bacon, cheese and sour cream. Came here for dinner with my dad last night, wasn't really expecting it to be that great. We were blown away by the friendly service, delicious food and dri nks. My dad got the baked scallops and I got their seafood Fra diavlo. This was the best seafood fra diavlo I've ever had, I wish that I had taken a picture of it... The scallops were huge and fresh, mussels, big chunks of lobster knuckle meat and big shrimps, cooked to perfection in a slightly sweet and not overly spicy sauce. I was very impressed and can't wait to come back and try more from their great menu. read more

My wife and I went back to Garrison's after their remodel. Much improved. They increased the bar area (the old one was kind of a dive) It is now very clean and welcoming. Daily fish deliveries. Seafood is so fresh every time. My husband has ordered the prime rib, cheeseburger, and the chicken parm. He he was very happy with each of these meals. Particularly the prime rib. Service is always polite and fast. Always found my cocktails to be well made. Atmosphere is clean, comfortable and updated. I'm shocked to see it only has three stars, I think garrisons has come along way! The two things I would change would be, make the dinner rolls less greasy, and a eliminate trivia night.
