Haven't been here in years and friends suggested we join them. So glad we did. We had to wait about 10 min for a table since there were 6 of us but that was fine as we could see how busy they were. Several menu options looked good but we got spinach salad with grilled chicken added and Garvey special sandwich. If you're thinking the spinach salad was the healthy option- think again. Well yes the spinach is healthy but it was loaded with bacon and also had a yummy hot bacon dressing! Delicious however I really liked the sandwich! I mean it was fabulous. They had some type of yummy sauce on it. And lots of meat. This establishment has always had quite a following; our friends said it was always busy. And we may return soon for their burger special since those are supposed to be so good. read more

I was super excited to try this place as I had heard they have the best wings in the area. We placed an order for two 5lb trashed wings, so 10lbs total. We received two tins of wings that seemed quite light. We placed them on our food scale at home and they both came out to about 52oz. 5lbs would be 80oz. I would never expect it to be exactly 5lbs and could even understand if it was closer to 4. But we ordered 10lbs of wings and received about 6.5lbs. Pretty big bummer. Garvey's for the Win again..... We were very surprised that there was no wait on a Saturday Night!!!! Had been craving those Trashed Wings tossed in Teriyaki Sauce!!! So yummy!!! Mini Tacos as another Appetizer filler!!! House Salad is always fresh!!! Love the House Vinaigrette!! The Steak Sandwich was so good. We had it Lightly breaded with Provel on a toasted bun!!!!! So we were sat in the back under the ac unit by the kitchen. I can look beyond that. I ordered their BLT salad that comes with a bacon dressing. The bacon I'm pretty sure was microwaved. The dressing was good served over iceberg, nothing special. Also had the trashed wings. For being trashed they were still rubbery and under seasoned. My partner had the special which was chicken fried steak. He also said his food was very under seasoned, had to use tons of salt and pepper. The waitress was very sweet and had our food very fast and always kept our drinks refilled. After our $54 dollar bill I decided we will not be returning. read more

A lot of food for the price. Meatball sub was delicious and Fried cod sandwich was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful, since this was our first time visiting. Restaurant is "hole in the wall" with regulars. Very busy. read more

This was a terrific little gem of a mom & pop diner. So quaint and lovely, and I dropped in for a mid-week lunch. Quiet and clean, and a solid menu with nothing flashy--but very good. Our salty-adjacent server recommended the burger with soft cheddar, and she immediately made her way to my holiday cards list. So good! I had a wonderful meal, and this is where I will go next when I'm back in Oakville. read more

A great place to get some bar food with a divey feel in South County. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The trashed wings are my favorite and I like to get them re-tossed in the Buffalo sauce because they retain a crispy texture and the Buffalo sauce adds some additional flavor. Better than expected. I ordered the Hot Pepper Chicken Sandwich and it was pretty tasty. Tryin' to eat healthy, I ordered broccoli for my side. It was delicious. Service was slow, but they were hoppin', so it was understandable. It's a pretty loud place, so don't plan on holding a good conversation. There are other places I would choose over this one though. read more

This is my go to place. I have not had anything bad here. Pizza is outstanding it's St. Louis thin crust style. The burger is really good and make sure you get a side of the bbq sauce for the fries. The trashed wings, I have to say are the best in South County. The Chile Mac is beefy and hearty with a little spice. Service is good for how small the place is. Plenty of TV's to watch a game. read more

While visiting friends who live nearby and recommended this place, I actually visited twice on my recent visit to StL. The chicken modigo is really tasty. The chicken modigo pizza is also totally yummy! And the salad with the bacon dressing is out of this world!! Service was great! And we kept them hopping! I am obsessed with this place. It's not quite divey but I'll totally be having dinner and a beer at the bar on the regular if anyone want to hang. The chicken medira pizza is heaven. Prob with chicken, bacon, mushroom, garlic and lemon? Yeah, I don't know who created this but I want to hug you and buy you a beer because it's my absolute favorite. The food and service are great. The ambiance is relaxed and pleasant. We liked the pizza, sandwiches, salads. I like Chicken and Rice soup. Soups rotate day to day. The thin crust pizza is yummy. The chicken Modiga bowl is delicious. Service is friendly and they always refill beverages promptly. Food doesn't take too long to get to the table. I highly recommend this place. read more

Stopped into Garvey's Grill in South County for a specific item. I had seen their BBQ Chicken Pizza online. I don't really love chicken but the pizza had a BBQ sauce base and is topped with fried onions. I had to try it. So I ordered it but had them substitute hamburger for the chicken. My pizza had homemade barbecue sauce, cheddar & Monterrey jack cheese topped w/hamburger, bacon, & fried onions. I absolutely loved it. This is nowhere near where I live and I assure you I will return for this. The service was fast and friendly. All of the other food we ordered was good. This is a great little neighborhood place. Stopped by and bought a cheeseburger with American, grilled onions, jalapeños, and LTOP. This place is a hidden time capsule. A lot of cool old Budweiser memorabilia scattered around. Back to the burger, it was good, don't go out of your way, but if you're in the area check it out. read more

Food is great if you have a bunch of time. Been here multiple times for lunch with plenty of open tables and it still takes a while to get seated. Then god only knows how long for a waiter to come over to you. Refills heck........ have more people work at a time. Covid is over read more

The store front of the restaurant does not face the road, it seems almost hidden in a very small strip mall, two or 3 stores big. I believe it is the wall paper Hanging store that is the store facing the road. I was terribly sad that my breakfast place was closed early so I trusted my little Yelp app to take me to where I could sate my sad, and a bit portly, tummy. This is a great place to have a casual meal with one huge exception... the smell of stale smoke. :( The service is great! The salad's are HUGE! I'm talking about a head of lettuce here! The bowl is bigger then your head. I had half of it and had the rest later for dinner at work and it was still good. My husband had the buffalo chicken wrap and Loved it! The service is great and cute! I don't usually notice the cute part but he looked so much like Jude Law! All I'd do is bake him cookies though. lol. Happens with having a baby brother older then 30, I feel maternal to all younger then my brother. hehe. We will be back to try the hamburgers, as I see that seems to be a favorite. It is a very very causal place and a nice environment when we went. read more

I have been here twice in the past four days to meet up with a couple of fiends who chose where to go. First positives. Food and drink were both good and prices were about the same as other area bars. Negatives: I can not count the number of customers walking around without masks. Unacceptable with the health concerns going on right now. read more

I find it humorous that your description shows it's a good place for kids & families yet I contacted the owner and spoke with the manager months ago asking for a changing table to be installed in the women's restrooms as there is NO where to change a child in the restaurant. Do you seriously expect us to take our children to the car to do this? You're a good little gem in Oakville and I'd love to support your business but I've contacted your place multiple times to ask if one has been installed and the answer is still NO. I was also told by the owner one was ordered and would be installed, that was seriously at least 4 months ago. Be aware if you're taking your family with children out to eat you won't have a place to change them unless they expect you to use the floor! Super disappointed! read more

I always liked Garveys for it's trashed wings, skins and blooming onion. Today I had a chicken breast sandwich....it was actually a chicken nugget patty which was spongy in texture. Fries had flavor but were greasy as if they were refried. Burgers were just ok, kind of tasted like they were made a few hours before we arrived. Disappointed...hope it was an off night. I should've said something but didn't want to make a scene. read more

Garvey's is so so good. But it sneaks up on you. The first time we went we had the $6 burger special. It was good, but not incredible. The next time we went we tried the chicken modiga pizza and trashed wings. Both amazing. Next up was the chili, seriously probably the best restaurant chili I've had, I just wish it was a little warmer when served. On this trip we also tried a few of their hot sandwiches, so so good. And finally, we tried my two absolute favorites...the chicken modiga wrap and the baroni (hot bacon) salad. These are both to die for. Try them and thank me later! Now we can't stop coming back even if we tried. Everything is just SO GOOD. read more

These guys have my all-time favorite hot wings and my wife likes their pizza more than Imo's. This is one of those gems people find out about and just keep coming back. We've had friends from out of town who still talk about their hot wings. They make "trashed" wings too but I'd go with normal hot wings if it's your first time here. read more

Seated promptly. Ordered the Garvey Special. Dipped roast beef, salami, ham melted cheese on garlic bread with a side. I ordered the french fries which were the thin style and crisp. Meal was delivered promptly and was DELICIOUS. Sera was the waitress and was great. Have been here before. Order the "trashed" wings. read more

Beer selections were very limited unless all you wanted were AB products. I asked for various common decent whiskeys, scotch and popular craft beers and struck out on all. Finally asked for captain and coke and told the soda system was broken. This is I got nice ice water. Ordered garlic parm pretzel bites. They dumped so much table salt on them that they were white color. We even tried to wipe them off and it was impossible to eat. We then tried party ryes. They must have been out of party rye because we got two pieces of marble rye cut in 1/4 with the topping on them. Tasted good but don't say on your menu that it's on party rye bread. My recommendation is fire the kitchen manager and invest a few bucks on a decent liquor selection. All in all the quality is that of a lower level south city tavern struggling to keep the doors open rather than an Oakville " pub".

We recently came here for the second time and met some friends for dinner. It was their first time…read moreeating at the Twisted Tavern. Everything our group ordered was delicious! What really stood out to me was the service we received! I really appreciated not being rushed through our meal. The fact that they actually let you order your courses separately so they're not coming out on top of each other was refreshing. And even though it was a Friday night and there were others waiting to get in we weren't rushed to pay our bill but instead invited to take our time. We hadn't seen or heard much about their pizzas, but we were in the mood for one and decided to order the meat pizza. It was made in a brick oven and it was really tasty. Honestly there were so many toppings that we ended up asking for an extra cup of the marinara sauce to dip it in. The sauce is made in house, it was delicious and the waitress said it's the same one that's used with the spaghetti and meatballs. In regard to the pizza size even though they're considered personal pizzas it was definitely bigger than we were anticipating. I would say they're close to 11 to 12 inches in diameter. My husband and I each enjoyed two pieces with our salad and took the other half home with us. They are definitely big enough to share, especially if you're ordering an appetizer or a salad to go with it. Our group very much enjoyed the artichoke spinach dip. It came with bread that had been cooked in their brick oven and I love that the spinach was in bigger pieces. My husband, and I also shared the harvest salad which had butternut squash on it, candied pecans & goat cheese. It was really yummy. Others in our group enjoyed the salmon and the crispy chicken sandwich. I had recently seen on a local Jefferson County page that many people consider Twisted Tavern the best place for a good piece of cake specifically, their wedding cake . Truth is that was the primary reason why I suggested this restaurant to meet our friends at but sadly by the time we finished our meal and were ready to order dessert they had already sold out. We were told this does not usually happen. Overall, we found tasty fresh food made in house, great service and fair prices. I am already planning another visit to the Twisted Tavern (so I can try their wedding cake! ).

We had a great time with drink and food specials as well as tons of TVs all around the bar allowing you to watch sports from just about any spot in the place. The bartender was very nice and super attentive, the owner was great, coming around to say hi to everyone and ask how we were doing, the food was really good, we had the pizza, it's StL style but if you know you know Prices are reasonable and it's a great place to hang out and watch sports or just shoot the breeze, check it out!!!

As beautiful and talented as you obviously see they are it's their guest service and personalities win the day. Two sweeter and more genuine individuals I challenge you to find anywhere. I'm going to be 100% honest I actually do get nervous coming into see them. It's hard to imagine seeing two angels on Earth. All the girls rock and provide premier service. I lived in St Louis for 14 years and I must say this would definitely be my spot if I still lived in the area. With Abigail and Kassidy it's like coming back and seeing friends I've known. I get that impression it's their style with all guest. I travel the country and these two are my two favorites anywhere. I'd highly recommend if you're a first timer you request them. The place was pretty empty and I sat at the bar. I had a few draft beers and an order of potato skins. Everything was average for a sports bar while catching the game. What really made the difference was the bartender Joe. He was very kind, efficient, and friendly, the epitome of what a good bartender should be. He greeting returning customers by name, remembered their drink orders, and was so methodical in taking & making orders. I enjoyed the atmosphere of this bar most, everyone was friendly pulling me as a stranger into conversations and greeting everyone when they sat down. It makes the difference for me & definitely makes me a returning customer. I'll be back when I'm in the area to try more food!

What concerned us is that it appeared that our dish went to the table beside us was picked up and delivered to us. What really gave us the ick though was when we received the shrimp with two shrimp tails and meat in the tails (see photo). We reported it talked to the manager and were told this happens, but why would there be meat in the tail? We had that dish and one other taken from our bill but I wouldn't recommend ANYONE eat there. There are better places and that is gross. Gross.

It's a wonderful BBQing meat smell that makes you can't wait to eat. The place is bigger on the inside than it looks and very clean. There's an outdoor eating area as well. We ordered at the bar, both my friend and I ordering the OG Brisket Sandwiches, mine with Coleslaw and my friend's with fries. No sooner did we sit down did our food come, and WOW, the sandwiches were huge with a pile of perfectly cooked melt in your mouth Brisket. I'm hard pressed to remember any better. The coleslaw was, well, different and hard to explain, but had a tangy mustard kind of taste. The fries on my buddy's plate were fantastic as well. The owner checked on us several times, and obviously valued us as customers. BBQ is huge in St. Louis and the big places and chains get all the attention. The sides were good, but both missed the mark on elite for me. I would love to experiment with some others! Oh, and their house bbq sauce is splendid. Like that is legit stuff. Smoky, tangy, a hint of heat serves a reminder it's at the party, but not the reason you came. As far as bbq in stl goes, this is rightfully pitted as some of the most illustrious!
